This was a more suspenseful tale than many of Brooke's novels. A fantasy story with dark magic which disorients the main character, Kestrel, into thinking she's alone and unwanted even by her own family. When in reality it is her family who grounds her and their love is the item that saves Kestrel as she battles for her life against evil.

Brooke did a great job describing the transitions from "dream" to "reality". Very well crafted and are memorable after the story concludes.

Though, the story is set up pulling for one male as the hero, I saw the clues Brooke left in her tale about who Kestrel would end up have feelings for by the conclusion of the story. They both get their happily ever after!

I would definitely like to see the story of the caretaker and what he actually knows about the beest who prowls the living for lost souls.

The only issue I had with the story was the chapter where Kestrel and Simon are on the ice. She runs on it, but it doesn't crack, though, she doesn't know how thin or thick the ice is at the time. Then when he falls through the ice and keeps breaking the ice when trying to get out; it's no difficulty for her to pull him out, though, the ice by him would be weakened and crack under her weight. Jarred me a bit out of the story.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

All of CK Brooke's stories are going to take you to another place, just like your own personal wardrobe to Narnia. I enjoy all of her books and this one was no exception. Very well done, written beautifully, and keeps you engaged. There are light and dark elements, sweet romance, suspense, and imagery like no other. She's so good at sprinkling hints throughout and letting the reader explore for themselves, rather than being spoon-fed the emotions and actions. Can we all agree we need to a mental break from 2020? This story will do just that. Don't hesitate to read Whisper for a true escape. 5 stars 5 stars 5 stars.

C.K. Brooke does it again!

I adore this book. While not exactly the same style as most of her books, this definitely feels like a C.K. Brooke novel. I plan to add it to my granddaughter’s Kindle to help promote her growing interest in darker areas.

This heroine is very close to my heart and the twist in the romance side is pleasing to my soul. I would love to find out more about the undertaker and how he knows so much about the Prince.

Captivating!

This isn't anywhere near the first book I have read from this author, so I expected an interesting and unique story. What I got was so much more. I was enthralled from the beginning with the characters and the mystery surrounding the prince. I stayed up all night to finish it. This book is more suspenseful than some of her other titles but just as adventurous. And the slow burn romance was a surprising twist. I loved it!

❄️❄️ONE UNFORGETTABLE RIDE❄️❄️
Bursting bubbles blitzen! Brooke unleashes one sensationally composed thrilling treat, dishing out some holiday cheer, seasonal frolicking and whistling delight, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, catapulting this jewel to a whole new level. Shenanigans and serendipity descend in a flurry of mishaps and mayhem, braced barriers and locked perimeters, limitations are amplified and tested, secrets confessed, revelations unmasked and promises made, exhibiting the thrilling struggles and breathtaking triumphs, showcasing the explosive ups and tormenting downs, putting our characters through their paces, fusing this gem together seamlessly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back baring incredibly deep emotions and an intense bond, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Brooke, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

First off the cover is absolutely stunning! I did pick this book based on the cover and premise but was disappointed with the outcome. It felt very rushed and surface level. I felt like it just threw us into the story and things happened very quick over the course of maybe a few days? While I don’t read fantasy books for realistic things..this just wasn’t believable as to how quick she was to think she would say yes and then how dramatic she was about him being a monster..like she was so hurt her handsome prince (she’s known for maybe a few weeks?) is a monster?!? Also what on earth..the ending felt very anticlimactic with unanswered questions. I would not read a sequel if there was one😬

A saltshaker and soup a bad mix!
This is a beautiful fantasy about a young woman looking for her place in the world. She is misunderstood by her family. Just when she needs it most a magical world has opened its doors to her. This was a unique and compelling tale that I got lost in. it is written so splendidly with outstanding characters and I could not recommend this book higher for me it is a true must-read book. The cover is lovely and the story even more so this is a book you should not miss. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Kestrel feels left out of everything and finds herself in another world with whispers, as she calls them, and a prince who wants her. Unfortunately, this other world changes and it fills the story with suspense and negativity. Kestrel learns that she loves someone and when she almost loses him, she fights harder than ever to save him. In the end, he saves her right back. Dark story for most it, but a very light and happy ending.

Great story!

What a wonderful story! It took me places I never imagined in this book. I thought it would be just a romantic story, but I should know by now that your books almost always are more than they seem. I was surprised by the events happening and thought, as usual, the power of your descriptions was wonderful!

This is definitely along the lines of a cheesy Hallmark/Netflix film around Christmas time. The story has itself on the edge of being better and you hope with each chapter it possible will be but then it gets to the end and you feel deflated.
