Jesse is in his final year of primary school and should be living it up as one of the 'Kings', but he can't even get his Prep buddy to follow school rules. A hilarious story of being undervalued and over everything for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Secrets of a Schoolyard Millionaire.
It's the first day of school and I've already got three problems: 1) Mrs Leeman is my classroom teacher. She's so ancient she taught my dad. 2) I might have accidentally been voted school captain. I had an unusually popular day when the class voted last year. 3) Somehow I've lost my Grade Six jumper between receiving it and Mrs Leeman's lecture about being responsible.
That's a lot to go wrong in half an hour. On top of that, it's a million degrees. So that's four problems. It's worse than I thought! At least things can only get better, right?
Jesse will have you roaring with laughter as he navigates the rites and rituals of Grade Six including a disrespectful Prep buddy, a plumbing problem the size of Niagara Falls, not to mention the dreaded compulsory school camp.
A Virginia author of over twenty mysteries and historical fiction novels for children and teens, loves “writing books that keep young readers glued to the pages.” At the age of seven she wrote, illustrated and self-published The Wild Dog, a book which she shows to readers to make the point that it is never too early to be an author.
It was a very nice book. You can't stop reading the book , because there is a lot of surprises in it. This book is a must read book because you will know it when you read the back of the book. I am so excited to read the next book. I recommend you to read this book.
I laughed out loud while reading the back cover blurb! Jesse has arrived in Year Six but things are not going well. His teacher, Mrs Leeman is terrifying; he is fearful of being voted school captain (the horror!); and he's lost his class jumper when they had only just been handed out! This great debut reminded me of Danny Katz's Little Lunch series - told from the point of view of a humorous and slightly cynical boy who's just trying to get through the hot days, boring assemblies, plumbing disasters and the dreaded school camp - this book will make both kids and adults ROFL!! Great writing. Highly recommended for any kid who's surviving primary school or adult who remembers those days. Can't wait for Book #2! Thank you to the Publishers for the advanced copy of this book.
Jesse and his friends are in the final year of primary school and he’s aiming for school captain. Problems keep coming, he can’t find his Grade 6 jumper, he’s in Mrs Leeman’s class and everyone except Jesse is excited about school camp. Pouring rain floods the local neighbourhood and the girl’s toilets are overflowing at school. The mud is fantastic. Why did the girl’s toilet overflow? What happens at camp? Who ends up school captain? I enjoyed the humour of the story.
