A wide variety of helpful tips to try at home to potentially diagnose and treat gut health issues. Starts off strong with the first chapter educating on how to assess your gut health. I like the variety of at home "tests" and things to be on the lookout for and the information on at home testing kits that you send off to a lab. I also appreciated the very brief explanation of how a sample is likely to be collected so I didn't have to wonder just how one was supposed to do that!
I liked the early chapters the best and their focus on assessment, dietary changes, and body care, but was less affected by the final two chapters. The latter chapters focused more on general health tips that promote and support good health throughout many body systems and although there were some, I didn't find as many hacks that I thought specifically applied to gut health.
I found it encouraging that the hacks range from super easy and free to more time-consuming and expensive to implement. There's a broad range of ideas to consider and one could start small and escalate into more intensive efforts if needed. Everyone will gain some new and helpful information from reading this book, and considering the subject, this just may be the perfect bathroom reading material!
This book is a super easy read. It is filled with 200 easy to understand blurbs about various things the average person can do to help improve their gut health. Although I found a lot of it to be common sense I was surprised to come across some information that was new to me. A big surprise since I do a lot of reading on food, the food system, and diet. This book would be perfect for someone who doesn't know much about gut health but wants to start somewhere.
i really enjoyed this book. i was able to read it in about 2 hours. i will be taking a lot of what i learned and applying it to my daily routines. I would give it a higher rating, but a lot of what was said was repeated! overall, i would recommend this book if you are looking to make positive life changes for your overall health.
I loved this book. Really helpful hacks for everyone, not only people who suffer from gut health problems😌
But why did i rate it 3⭐️? The book was EXTREMELY repetitive. I mean after 20 pages it says almost the same thing. It is good for remembering the importance of those hacks, but i mean, reading 5 times about how you should go outside or take vitamin D supplements can start to be a bit annoying after all.
This book is so good for beginners, like myself, who are just starting to understand the importance of gut health and how it can DRASTICALLY affect your body! It is comprehensive, to the point and simple! Information 5⭐️ Writing 4.7⭐️
Again speaking of self help books and my inability to follow along, I do enjoy a simple laid out easy to read guide for health and well being. "In Gut Health Hacks, you'll find 200 practical tips and tricks to support good bacteria and achieve a balanced gut microbiome. From ways to hack your meals to simple lifestyle changes." And yes it's going to talk about lovely bodily functions! Seriously, we all seem to have stomach issues these days and this offers up simple, no expense tips that anyone can incorporate in their daily lives. Easy to read, easy to understand!
200 one-page hacks to improve your gut health. An easy, but interesting read. Many I already knew, 25% were new to me. Fun part was sharing ideas with spouse, one page at a time. Not too overwhelming. If you care about your gut health, this is a non-threatening way to begin making changes.
Each page has a different tip to try and help maintain your gut health. Some of them are repetitive from section to section, but most of the tips seem to be useful.
As someone who has been recently diagnosed with IBS, I was completely lost in what to do to reduce my symptoms. Thankfully, I found this book on tiktok from someone who also has IBS and shares tips to deal with this problem. This is a very helpful guide to people who, like me, have just found out about a gut disease and don't know what to do until their next doctors appointment. Although some strategies are not easy to do right now, I took several notes to, over time, implement some hacks into my lifestyle. I'm thankful I found this book and I would recommend it 100%.
Although this was a very easy read, it felt like not a lot of research or even thought went into it. The beginning was interesting and had some take always. As it progressed and got into the “tips” it was more like the author took every healthy choice a person could make daily and said it promoted gut health. Some of the tips included, making your bed each morning, positive self talk and multiple exercise tips. The book would have been more impactful if it had picked fewer tips but made sure they were the most beneficial.
This book had some interesting facts that I felt I could apply in my personal life, though the organization of it felt like it sometimes gave me whiplash, often referencing the same content in different areas of the book in slightly rewarded ways. Also, I’m very skeptical of a book that suggests gagging on purpose for gut health purposes, especially when some people who may be reading the book suffer from EDs.
I wanted to listen to this book so badly, but the audio copy skipped! Glad I checked it out from the library before I purchased an Audible copy. Apparently it is an editing issue. Super pumped I didn't spend money on this. Sadly I would have, and been disappointed further. Shame on you Simon and Schuster
I liked the snack sized bits of information from this book. It did t feel overwhelming and I was able to finish the book pretty quickly. While I did know a lot of hacks already, there were a few more that I have started implementing and seem to improve my mood. Great for beginners looking to improve their gut or overall health.
This was a super easy read. I was surprised by how much I learned as I already do a lot of reading on nutrition and gut health. I do wish some of the topics were expanded on a bit and more food suggestions were added for the various vitamins, but overall I thought it was really well presented for beginners. I loved the format and found it very visually appealing and fun to read.
It’s been a week of following her advice and I already feel better this book really helped break me out of the fast food no exercise funk I’ve been in during this pandemic
There were some really good tips in here but a lot of the information was repeated, making it overall hard for me to want to continue reading/finish. It’s definitely a quick read since the explanations and layout of the book are easy enough to follow- I just personally got bored.
It’s everything you probably know but don’t action. It’s a simple breezy read. A reminder of all the age old wisdom in one place. Comprehensive approach to gut health which will also ensure a happy and healthy mind.
okay our bodies ???? are so incredible???? but also damn thank god for BDS i can NEVER eat anything horrible again. i also love how accessible all the lil tests are. but there were times where I had to question just how much our society has set us up for failure.
Great book! Gut health connects with mental health a lot and things mentioned here i had to figure out on my own so I'm mad I didn't read this sooner! I suggest this to anyone and everyone :)
