Take a walk in the woods to find yourself. This book is intended as an easy approach to forest bathing, a concept that is now making its way into health and wellness practices. Part spiritual guide and part practitioner’s handbook, this accessible, practical, positivity-rich book is designed to be taken on every walk to encourage mindfulness, contentedness, and presence in the moment. Written in a beautiful, encouraging style by a highly qualified and mediagenic author, the book also contains amazing hand-drawn illustrations of forest scenes.
If you are familiar with meditation practices, you may find this book redundant. It’s a pretty little book that introduces a person to meditative practices out in nature. For me, it was a reminder to get back to what makes me feel good. There’s nothing better than a walk in the woods.
I read most of this book either literally while in the woods, or in the mornings preparing to go out into them. I'd read a chapter each morning then do the "activity" (more like a non-active suggestion) and each time, I felt myself going deeper and deeper into relationship with nature. If you are just beginning this practice, this is a wonderful little primer for beginning, and if you are already familiar with Forest Bathing, this book will remind you why you started. The writing is wise without being pedantic, it's like church led by a very enlightened cool-dude nature preacher. Just holding it will lower your blood pressure and make you glad to be alive.
I bought this book after hearing Ben Page on Woo Knew’s podcast. Although I really wanted to start a sitspotting practice it took me nearly 3 years to rediscover this book.
This is must read for anyone who relates to Mother Earth and knows our connectedness is nature.
I really like that Ben saved the 10 how-to steps until the very end. Much appreciated and a wonderful intention of inviting the reader to discover their own practice.
I am sitspotting for 100 Days, even in the bitter cold of Canada. The journey can be found on Instagram @colourmyaura 🧘🏼♀️🌲🌳🌵
Of course, I love the calming, natural aesthetic of this book, but I also enjoyed how the information, explanations, and sit spot prompts complemented the entire theme. It was a great overall read as I began my journey into becoming a forest bathing guide. I always bring it to the woods with me and reread portions.
If you are new to mindfulness or meditation, then this may be a helpful starting point. However, if you are familiar with these principles, then you may just find it a rebranding of the same concepts. Overall, it was a quick and easy read, but often repetitive.
This book was a fantastic read! I read it entirely outside taking each sits spot in turn. The book is infused with love for Nature, and, indeed community with it.
The only book on Forest Bathing that anyone one would need. After a few fluffy new agey / cash-in quick books books on the subject, that have recently been published, this one is the real deal. Coming from a trainer and course designer of forest therapy (a particular kind of forest bathing), experience , insight and wisdom come across clearly. As well as outlining the worldview and philosophy underlying forest bathing there are many practical suggestions for what a person might do from anywhere that has something natural around it e.g. a forest or a seashore, one's garden, balcony or a room with a plant in it etc. It also looks good and can slip into a day pack easily.
