Nearly four years after reading this series for the first time, I am re-reading it as Juliette Cross prepares to re-release it! I can honestly say that I loved this book just as much, if not more, the second time through. As I said in the original review, Sorcha was a tough, independent woman with walls around her heart. Lorian Nightwing was just the Morgan to break through those walls. This is a steamy, sexy, sweet and suspenseful book and it’s amazing. I’m leaving my original review as is since those were my feelings at that time and they still hold true.
Windburn is book two in the Nightwing series by Juliette Cross. When I first read book one in this series, Soulfire, I fell so instantly in love with this new man/dragon race, the Morgons. And with Juliette’s writing as well. I was a little worried starting book two because I wanted the same magic to be there, to love it just as much. Well, I needn’t have worried because I did love it!
Sorcha Linden is helping to open the first human/Morgon night club, Spire Maiden. She is in charge of making sure that everything about it is appealing to the humans as well as the Morgons. Sorcha is one tough girl and I have to admit that it took me awhile to warm up to her. At first I was a little put off by her brash nature. But as I got to know her and realized why she was the way she was, I quickly warmed up to her. She has a wall built up around her heart. Men, or Morgon men, are for one purpose only to her and that is to satisfy immediate needs. There are no emotions involved.
“Yielding felt like breaking. I didn’t want to be broken. I didn’t want to fall so far I could never pick myself up again.”
Lorian Nightwing is in charge of the project. He is drawn to the sassy Sorcha but she’ll have none of it. Similar to Sorcha, you at first get the idea that Lorian is steely and untouchable. But that’s not the case at all as you get to know him. He wanted Sorcha but on his terms. It was so amazing to watch him break down Sorcha’s walls.
As Sorcha is fighting her attraction towards Lorian, she begins finding mysterious gifts from someone unknown. The scary part is that the card bears the mark of an ancient cult that believes Morgons are superior to humans. They also practiced sacrificing human women as a blood sacrifice. Could they still be in existence and could Sorcha be their chosen victim?
Sorcha is forced to admit she needs protection and Lorian is willing to provide it. But will it be enough? Will he be able to find out who is stalking her and leaving the gifts in time?
I love this series so much. As I got to know the secondary characters, I found myself wanting to know so much more about them. I am in love with life in Gladium and with the Morgon race. I love seeing the barriers breaking down between the humans and Morgons as the races become more and more intertwined. You can’t help but swoon over those Morgon men! “sigh” So, if you didn’t figure it out by now, yes, I am crazy about this book/series. It’s suspenseful, sexy, sweet, and just plain awesome. I hope you’ll give it a try if you haven’t already.

I cannot have enough of these delicious dragons! Why is this series so short?!! I want Jed and Willow's story! And Kol! So much love for the Captain of the Guard! Give me more!

Yes it is official I love dragon/human hybrids.
This falls into my ‘I need a quick fix of something magical and sexy’ category. At around 100 pages this is perfect to get a little something sexy in between books or great if you just want to relax in the tub to read.
Sorcha is wild, aggressive and a little free with her body but never free with her heart. Lorian is reserved and very much in control of everything in his life but Sorcha gets under his skin in a way no other woman has, and she might think that she can seduce him into her bed but he is determined that will cost her heart.
Juliette Cross has gripped my imagination with both Soulfire and Windburn. She might even become my go to for PNR with erotic tenancies along with Nalini Singh (Psy-Changling) and Kresley Cole (Immortals After Dark). I enjoyed another take on the relationship between a Morgon male and human female and the world she is creating.
Lorian’s drive to protect Sorcha and her need to be independent was a great clash. The added mystery of a new group of Morgon men looking for blood brides to help bring forth an ancient power was captivating and a little bit scary not to mention creepy. I was totally drawn in by the little mystery of who was stalking Sorcha and I didn’t discover who the true villain was until just before they were revealed.
Windburn was a great quick story filled with flirting, sexual tension, drama and a pinch or maybe a dash of fear. I started this and couldn’t set it down until I was done. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in the series and I’ll check out the other series Juliette has written.

Lorian Nightwing is one hot Morgon and doesn’t Sorcha know it. She taunts and teases and tempts him to no end. Working with him to build a club that will be for both races, she has learned the man is a bit uptight and she loves needling him a little. However, when a threat looms over Sorcha, his dominance rises up and he takes over, showing her how seduction is really done all while protecting her from a stalker.
I loved this story so much! Sorcha was one feisty heroine and she was constantly challenging Lorian’s dominant nature. While we never get his point of view, we are pretty much able to tell by his actions and reactions what he’s feeling or thinking. I love a protective hero and Lorian was that and so much more. When he found the opportunity to make a move toward Sorcha he did so in a slow methodical manner that, for me, showed he had so much more planned than just her seduction.
This is a fast read with a heck of a lot of steam and some pretty intense drama and action. I turned into a regular nail biter as the plot played out and the villain made his move. The angst was definitely ratcheted up at that point and I honestly wasn’t sure in what direction things were going to go. I absolutely loved it!
This is the second book in the newly revised and re-release of the Nightwing series and I have really enjoyed both books so far. I’m especially looking forward to the next book. Fingers crossed that it’s Ella’s.

I love falling into Juliette Cross's imaginations, getting swept up into this sexy world full of Morgans, which are dragon-hybrids, and the feisty women who would tame them.
Windburn is the story of Lorien and Sorcha. A Morgan whose Dragon is always on the surface, and a strong-willed woman who takes crap from no one, not even the alluring predator that is Lorien. I loved how fierce these two were, forthright and being true to themselves. No hiding, no giving in, stubborn to the core. Unapologetic and stoic, which may have been Sorcha's undoing. Her relentless pursuit in keeping her iron walls up around her heart, not letting Lorien heartbound with her, would leave her open to the whims of a stalker. A mad man set in the ways of old.

Oct. 2018: Re-read the re-release. Loved it as much as the first time. I didn’t remember who was the stalker until the reveal. Also, I didn’t remember the almost rape scene. That was hard to read, but well done. My original review reflex how much I still love this book and world.

Windburn is book two in the Nightwing series by Juliette Cross. When I read the first book, Soulfire, I instantly feel in love with this world and the Morgon/dragon race. Windburn recaps the world & races, so this can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend pick up book one too.
I could not put this one down. I loved the characters. Lorian is the embodiment of a sexy hot dominant alpha male. Can we say sexy as hell! Sorcha embodies a women who can stand tall, hold her head up high, and embraces a challenge. I was not sure how this relationship would work with both of them being so strong willed and sure of themselves, but I need not have worried for they where the perfect match. These two play a dominance game that draws out the sexual tension. You feel it all coming to a head and when it does it will implode, but in a very hot and steamy way. I really loved that Lorian new Sorcha so well that he was willing to wait until she gave him her heart. I also was surprised to find out who the bad guy was in this plot. Did not see it coming. Totally unexpected. I love when an author can hide this from me.
If you love reading about dragons, then this book is right up your alley. Windburn is a fantastic read in the Nightwing series. I am a fan and look forward to more Morgon action-packed adventure.

This is how you write a follow up book in a new series. No rehashing the world building plots and dragging it down with tons of retellings. Nope, nuh-uh, no, right into the thick of it! Well done Juliette Cross!
At the end of my last review I stated that “Soulfire is off to a great start and I will be sticking with this series in hopes that we will get a bit more emotionally in-depth in the next book.” I am pleased to say that is just what I got, tons of real emotion and an alpha male with real intent. It’s the female lead that had the issues for once. The drama from childhood has created an emotionally unavailable adult. Using sex as a tool and keeping it that way, Sorcha gets what she wants and needs with little connection or afterthought… until Lorian Nightwing shows up. Yep, game changer.
A great read: Windburn is fun and action-packed with tons of suspense. I am officially a Nightwing series fan!

The second book in Juliette Cross’ awesome Nightwing series gives us dark and broody Morgon; Lorian Nightwing’s story, the author matched him perfectly with sassy, confident Sorcha Linden.
The chemistry sparked between the two of them from the first page, with both of them challenging the other constantly in just about every aspect of their coming together, and held me in its grip until the last. Like the first novella, this book was read in one sitting, I kept trying to put it down, until 'one more chapter' took me to the end, and whoops, it’s 4am in the morning!
"When you finally fall, it’s going to be such a beautiful thing."
There is an element of mystery with Windburn and Juliette set it up really well in that there were plenty of characters to suspect, but it wasn’t until the big reveal that I actually knew who it was. Wowza, can she tell a story, I am going straight back in and starting novella three; Nightbloom Paxton and Elle’s story.

Windburn picks up some time after Soulfire ends and focuses on Sorcha Linden and Lorian Nightwing. Sorcha and Lorian are working together to build the first human-morgon club, but when Sorcha starts receiving mysterious gifts with a logo from a crazed dragon cult on it, its clear trouble is coming, and once Lorian finds out he is in full protective, bossy alpha mode.
Sorcha can have any man she wants wrapped around her little finger, and she never wants anything more than sex/pleasure She’s a tough, independent women but has encased her heart in steel, not wanting the pain of what love can bring. Lorian refuses to just have sex with Sorcha, for him it’s all or nothing.
I did enjoy Sorcha’s snarky and sassy nature but there was just something that stopped me from loving her as a heroine, especially early in the book. Lorian was persistent, loyal and overall badass, and a good fit for Sorcha. I do wish that the book had been a little longer just so we could have had more layers to the development of their relationship.
Overall, this was a nice, quick one time read, but it is my least favourite of the books I’ve read by the author thus far.

This was a fairly good book - I do like the first in the series better though. This one was from the heroines, Sorcha, POV only. It didn't hinder my feeling towards the relationship though. A lot of the times I do not feel a real relationship growing or the intensity of it when its only from one point of view. I do really like Juliette Cross's writing style, so maybe that was why.
Sorcha, the heroine, rubbed me the wrong way for most of the story. She was so arrogant (to me anyway). I knew this from the last book with the way she was. I believe towards the 3/4 of the story did I start not minding her as much. Lorian on the other had was hot. Wish it was a tad longer though.
There was more action and mystery in this one with the story line.

I adore this writer's style and prose. Her ability to craft one liners that pierce the heart is extraordinary. Book two of the Nightwing series was another home run for me. I fell for this world in Soulfire, book one, and continue to get swept away in it. What’s not to love about the winged Morgon men and their inner dragons?

Another re-read and I still felt the same way about the overall story as I did the first time I read it. I loved getting a deeper look into the Morgon world, even if it was a darker one, and meeting more of the characters (Kol Moonring is still all KINDS of everything *BSEG*) who are connected to the MC’s.
The one thing that I don’t recall feeling the first time around was the frustration I had with Sorcha and some of her decisions and actions. I still loved her confidence and how she spoke her mind, but there were a few things she did that I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at. But, Lorian was still overbearing, not gonna deny that, and garnered his fair share of eye rolls, so I guess in the end they balanced each other out.
But all in all, I still thoroughly enjoyed this one and am loving going back and getting reacquainted with the characters and the world.

I really enjoyed Soulfire, the first book in the series, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second one and Windburn has lived up to my expectations. While it is a novella, you still get a well written story that doesn’t skimp on the plot (the whole ancient blood cult/stalker issue was a great twist) or character development. Windburn also didn’t rehash all that was introduced in Soulfire, it did a little recap so if you didn’t read the first book, which you really should do, you weren’t lost, but kept moving forward and introduced us to new aspects of the world as well as introducing new characters *cough* Kol *cough*
I liked Sorcha from the beginning and as we get to know more about her background, it’s just really hard not to like her. She is bold, sassy, intelligent and confident. To say she is a vixen is pretty spot on, but she is also loyal to her friends and has a good heart. She may speak her mind, but she isn’t mean spirited in anyway. Another re-read and I still felt the same way about the overall story as I did the first time I read it. I loved getting a deeper look into the Morgon world, even if it was a darker one, and meeting more of the characters (Kol Moonring is still all KINDS of everything *BSEG*) who are connected to the MC’s.
The one thing that I don’t recall feeling the first time around was the frustration I had with Sorcha and some of her decisions and actions. I still loved her confidence and how she spoke her mind, but there were a few things she did that I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at. But, Lorian was still overbearing, not gonna deny that, and garnered his fair share of eye rolls, so I guess in the end they balanced each other out.
But all in all, I still thoroughly enjoyed this one and am loving going back and getting reacquainted with the characters and the world.

I really enjoyed Soulfire, the first book in the series, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second one and Windburn has lived up to my expectations. While it is a novella, you still get a well written story that doesn’t skimp on the plot (the whole ancient blood cult/stalker issue was a great twist) or character development. Windburn also didn’t rehash all that was introduced in Soulfire, it did a little recap so if you didn’t read the first book, which you really should do, you weren’t lost, but kept moving forward and introduced us to new aspects of the world as well as introducing new characters *cough* Kol *cough*
I liked Sorcha from the beginning and as we get to know more about her background, it’s just really hard not to like her. She is bold, sassy, intelligent and confident. To say she is a vixen is pretty spot on, but she is also loyal to her friends and has a good heart. She may speak her mind, but she isn’t mean spirited in anyway. She accepts a position to collaborate with the Nightwings -- one of the oldest, and most powerful clans in the province -- in constructing a nightclub that will cater to Morgons and humans alike. I was able to pick up on the story, without feeling lost, but having a bit more of the characters' history, and the foundation for the plot, might have been helpful. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed this magical world, and the descriptives throughout, which brought the story to life. I especially enjoyed taking flight with the Morgons, discovering how they lived, and learning about the clan history that brought them into existence. A well written tale, with captivating characters, I am eager to see what will happen next!

Windburn picks up some time after Soulfire ends, and I will say this: you won’t miss anything if you haven’t read Soulfire other than some background information. These books are part of a series and while you know characters from the previous book you don’t actually miss anything by not having read it. Sorcha starts off this book in someone else’s bed, and ends a little late to a company meeting where she finally meets Lorian Nightwing! Morgon’s are dragon-hybrids, meaning they don’t shape shift but literally have wings on their backs. The color of those wings also tells you what clan they belong too.
Sorcha flirts with Lorian and at first it seems like he might just be able to resist her, but it soon becomes clear that it is futile. They are working together to build the first human-morgon club and continue building harmony in the races, when Sorcha starts receiving mysterious gifts with a logo from a crazed dragon cult on it. Lorian and Sorcha are just getting everything really started when she is kidnapped…and well you just have to read the book.
I really enjoyed these books, they are quick easy reads. A little bit of paranormal and just a bit different since there aren’t too many dragon type books out there, but this is a first where they don’t shift at all. I will say that I wish it was just a tad bit longer, and that’s not to say it was rushed, just that it was too short. I would have loved to read some more sexy times, or Sorcha flirty snarky remarks.

Of all the Nightwing books, this was my favorite. For starters, Sorcha was a spunky heroine, which I absolutely loved. Secondly, Lucius (the hero) turned out to be one of those intense brooding types that was strong enough NOT to fall for Sorcha's tricks and looked beyond to what she needed in the long run. I just love it when an author can pull that off with a couple. Total swoon worthy stuff.
The whole series is fantastic. They're shorter in length, so they're perfect for a night cuddled up at home. OR you can do what I did with the first two and inhale them both in one setting. (The family was not pleased with this development.) Seriously, Juliette's writing is so beautiful it's easy to forget the real world exists.

Great, quick read. Nice story continuation with the characters. I missed the dual POV like in Soulfire, but still enjoyed this one immensely.

"I don't give a damn about anything but you, Sorcha. Don't you understand?" - Lorian Nightwing
Lorian, oh, Lorian, why must you be so perfect? More than anything, what's wrong with your sense of logic?! Why Sorcha of all women?!
Sorcha Linden has any man she wants wrapped around her little finger. She has no problem being a bed-hopper, but Lorian Nightwing, her latest obsession, won't have it that way. Either she's his alone, or not at all. A dark cult looking to turn her into a blood sacrifice is not helping things one bit - not in her life, or in the situation between them. Can she keep her heart guarded and finally lay with the big bad Morgon? Or will she choose her freedom, losing him - and her life - in the process?
As you may have guessed, I didn't like Sorcha. At. All. I may agree with her opinion that a woman can use her assets the same way men use their muscles, but the rest of her as a main lead was... a bit too much for me. First and foremost, if you insist on being taken seriously as an adult, then stop acting like a whiny little you-know-what when the guy you're after refuses to give it to you, just because he has some self-respect and respects you, as well. Sheesh! You'd think she'd appreciate him being honest right from the start instead of trying to tie her down in the long run AFTER the deed was done. But noooo, not Sorcha! She gets angry at Lorian, because the poor guy's philosophy for sex was simple: no sharing with others, and honesty about that particulart part BEFORE hitting the bed! Finally, a guy - even fictional - who agrees with me on bedroom matters! I was beginning to feel like a freak!
Poor, poor Lorian, why you?
What's worse, was the fact I had to endure her thoughts whenever it was her POV I was reading. I don't mean to sound like a prude, but really, girlie, we get it, you like sex, you think it's an awesome weapon to use, ok, that's enough. I got bored of hearing it over and over again! Seriously, you need a hobby!
See? I already found a suggestion for you!
Now let's move on the reasons why this book was nearly perfect despite Sorcha's existence in it.
Number one, Lorian!
Lorian was one magnificent piece of Morgon... butt, and I'm not talking about his physique - mostly. I'm talking about his personality. Persistent, loyal, badass, true to his beliefs - yup, that's Lorian, all wrapped up in a fabulous appearance which I would very much like to pin me down - no preference on the flat surface, I'm pretty adjustable. For most of the book, he growled instead of talking - oh, yummy! - but usually he was silent, observing his surroundings. He didn't want to be another notch on Sorcha's bed - no blaming you there, buddy, who knows where that has been - but he knew she was his mate. So, what does he do? Easy, he makes it known he wants her, but refuses to have her until she vows she's his. No pressure there, sweetheart - but, oh, you're not having any of this delicious male till you succumb!
That, people, was true dominance. No brute force, no stupid sex toys - just pure, unwavering willpower!
The other reason why I loved this book more than the first, was the action. A dangerous cult makes its debut here, and there are some pretty scary scenes in the story. They're enough to bring the book's level up considerably, and showed that Cross can add more than just love drama to her story to spice it up. I simply loved it! Plus, not knowing who the culprit was had me on edge till the very end!!!
Now I have to wait for Paxon's book to come out - oh, the horror of anticipation, how it's killing me...

The second fast-paced and addictive installment in the author’s sexy Nightwing series!

Juliette Cross’ Windburn is the second fast-paced and addictive installment in her sexy Nightwing series set in Gladium, a racially-charged world populated by Morgons, dragon/human hybrids, and humans. The races are slowly integrating – but, there’s still much animosity between them.
You could read this tale as a standalone if that is your preference, but I’d highly recommend that you read this series in order as the first book introduced the setting and the main cast of characters. The author doesn’t waste any time repeating the setup from Soulfire, but, even so, I don’t believe a newbie would ever feel lost. I do think that Windburn would be a richer experience if the reader is familiar with the Gladium world which was afforded in Soulfire. Windburn is the story of Morgan Lorian Nightwing and human Sorcha Linden.
As the story opens, we catch up with Sorcha who is running late for a project meeting after a night of carnal pleasure. Sorcha has been hired as the human consultant to ensure that the new Spire Maiden nightclub will be the first to appeal to both Morgans and humans. Honestly, in the beginning, I was a bit put off by Sorcha. She’s extremely strong-willed and came off as exceedingly brash. In her relationships, she’s been free with her body, but never with her heart. That said, it did not take long to realize that her tough and sassy attitude is actually a cover for the protective wall she has built around her feelings and heart.
Dark and broody Lorian Nightwing is in charge of the Spire Maiden project. He’s a no-nonsense, alpha male who somehow sees through Sorcha’s defenses and decides that she’s meant to be his. He has his work cut out for him scaling and breaking through her defenses. Even though Sorcha is strongly attracted to Lorian, she wants nothing to do with him.
However, when Sorcha comes to realize that she’s in serious danger from an ancient Morgon cult who are against the mixing of the races, Sorcha has no choice but to relent and accept the protection that Lorian has offered. But, will it be enough?
OMG, these Morgon hybrids are to die for! Lorian’s and Sorcha’s chemistry is hot and their interactions are sweet, sensual and entertaining. The suspense is thrilling and the twists are true surprises. The villains in this read are creepy and there are some seriously chilling moments.

Juliette has quickly become one of my must-read authors. This story is imaginative, sensual and gripping. It feels like a full-length novel, even though it’s a novella. Because it is a quick-read, it’s perfect to pick up when you crave a quick magical and sexy fix. Just know that once you start it, you won’t want to put it down until you’ve read every word. I’ve already got the third book, Nightbloom, on my reader. It will be Paxon Nightwing’s and Ella Barrow’s story. I can’t wait to dive in!

OMG, these Morgon hybrids are to die for! Lorian’s and Sorcha’s chemistry is hot and their interactions are sweet, sensual and entertaining. The suspense is thrilling and the twists are true surprises. The villains in this read are creepy and there are some seriously chilling moments.

Juliette has quickly become one of my must-read authors. This story is imaginative, sensual and gripping. It feels like a full-length novel, even though it’s a novella. Because it is a quick-read, it’s perfect to pick up when you crave a quick magical and sexy fix. Just know that once you start it, you won’t want to put it down until you’ve read every word. I’ve already got the third book, Nightbloom, on my reader. It will be Paxon Nightwing’s and Ella Barrow’s story. I can’t wait to dive in!

This story is off and running from the very beginning. Cross jumps right into the heart of the story in a very riveting manner. Seriously, I love this author`s writing! Her style is so fun and approachable. She invites you fully into her world, allowing you to experience it alongside her characters. This world is so fully, and vibrantly developed that you can`t help but be drawn into it. The fantastic creatures that Cross has brought forward spark and capture your imagination. I felt like I`ve actually met some Morgons and have lived alongside them. That said, readers really should read the first novella in this series before this one for background information on characters and the races that we encounter, as well as for general context.
Scorcha was a riot! I loved getting to know her and she definitely did this story justice. Lorian’s dark, brooding attitude, combined with his protective nature had me dying for him. This is definitely one of those leading couples where I wanted to be her, and to be with him. They were fantastic, easy to picture individuals that really pack a punch. Even though these two individuals take centre stage in this novella, I also enjoyed getting to know the supporting cast. They filled out the story quite nicely and were all-round fun individuals.
This novella was a brilliant sequel to Soulfire. I easily read it in a single sitting and can`t stop thinking about it. I`m dying to return to Gladium province and visit with this land again.

I think this was a huge step from her previous work, Soulfire.
I wholeheartedly commend this author for being able to move forward in her way of writing with such a short time lapse between both books.
Sometimes we see authors, that even after several books, their writing shows no difference or progress and to see it here only after a couple of months of difference is really noteworthy.
The dialogue was not as stoic as before and flowed much more gracefully. Even though this was a shorter book the relationship between the main characters didn't feel as forced or flawed. Another thing I have to applaud, it didn't feel as heavy on the insta love as before(one of the reasons I couldn't stomach Soulfire). The plot was much more interesting than before. The characters didn't feel as cliche or unoriginal. So all in all it was quite a decent read...
But...
I admit this is a personal hang up of mine but the underlying dominance/submission theme going on makes me cringe. It's gone to the point where it isn't just something that goes on in the bedroom but that creeps onto their everyday lives and sadly hints at sexism. It's like the men hold themselves at different standards and find women weak and unable to care for themselves unless they have a man at their side. If the women sleeps around, she's cheap but when the guy does it, he smooth, on top of his game or a player. That really irks me and completely puts off reading.

When I read the first book of this series, Soulfire, it left me intrigued with the world the author had created and wanting more stories in this setting. I was also enamored with the characters, and was glad to see that Sorcha has her own story here in Windburn.
Sorcha’s character is fantastic-so strong and self-assured, she knows what she wants and goes after it (and him). And then you have Lorian Nightwing (brother to Lucius from Soulfire)…overwhelmingly alpha male, especially when his dragon comes to the forefront…and every bit as protective, sexy and strong as you’d expect-and more.
As the suspense builds with each “gift” Sorcha discovers being left for her, things heat up in the story as well as between her and Lorian. With the two of them being such strong-willed, alpha characters that leads to a lot of passion, and not just physical either. There’s a raw sensuality between them that continues to build throughout the story that leads to its own wild culmination (you’ll have to read it to find out!).
There’s a slew of supporting characters (several that I’d love to see more stories for), and they all help contribute and round out the story quite well. The bad guy? You’re probably not going to expect it. And once that character is revealed, the action really cranks up-keeping you on the edge of your seat the rest of the way.

Windburn is the second book in this series and I have to say, I love the setting. it is a very good idea and the plot in this one was much more action-filled than in the first one. Although this only showed in the second half
I really missed Lorians POV here, as it would have given me more insight on his character - and as he is a very interesting character with quite some history, it would have been well worth it.
Sorcha was for me a bit difficult to like at the beginning as I got the impression she had so many different bed partners to prove to herself that she is independent.
but she improved greatly as soon as she was not so consumed with proving that she did not need a man for more than sex
the last quarter was quite intense and I was gripping my seat. I would have hoped for a longer epilogue to see more of them together as well as to see more of Jessen and Lucian. as they all have so a tight relationship, it would have been nice to see more of them in this book as well
all in all it was a good second book, although for me to short as I would have loved to see more of the characters and the world. but well worth reading

This was a pretty well-paced read, and it kept me guessing. It had a darker tone than book one, but that only made it more riveting. Sorcha was very stubborn and delightfully sassy while Lorian was a little overbearing and serious. Strangely I actually liked him even more than his brother. The supporting characters were interesting and fun making me hope to see more of them in future books (either in this series or its spinoff, Vale of Stars). I definitely look forward to more in this world.
