Pentagon has been defeated, although Morgan’s fight has not yet reached its end. New and old enemies are converging, threatening the hard-won peace achieved with this latest victory.
When he is attacked unexpectedly, Morgan finds himself on his own, forced to pick between two difficult choices. War is on the horizon, World Beasts are rising, and everything Morgan has worked to achieve is crumbling around him.
Will he finally reach the very Pinnacle of power, or will he fail and fall before the might of those who wish to see him dead?
Warning: This book contains profanity, gore, and content that may not be suitable for children. This book also contains GameLit elements, such as stat sheets, a form or leveling, and experience gain.
This is where we're getting some serious LitRPG payoff. So powerful that Morgan becomes an actual God. Fortunately, there are lots of gods out to snuff him and there's plenty of future clean-up action after we take out the massive World Beast.
I'm a little worried that the next book won't build upon this books momentum. So much happens in this book. Hope the last two books give this series a fitting conclusion.
This is the eighth book in a series and I'm still reading it, which indicates a certain affection on my part. It started so well, but it's been on a gradual downhill slide since.
The writing is very weak, with unconvincing dialog, badly constructed sentences and paragraphs, and ridiculous politics on the part of ... everyone.
The book is structured as alternating chapters between different points of view (and generally locations as well). Since the vast majority of the book is combat scenes, this means the reader is continually switching from one combat to another, breaking up the flow of both combats.
In addition, in most of the combat scenes, the combatants decide to "take the combat seriously", which, fine. Until the same combatant does the same thing again, later in the same combat. How many times can you take your metaphorical gloves off in the same fight? But then, if you're fighting a literal god who nearly killed you a few days before, wouldn't it make sense to start off seriously?
The power levels in this series have done what they seem to in many long-running LitRPG series: become entirely meaningless. The protagonist is as strong as plot, and the numbers assigned to that strength are functionally meaningless. What, after all, is the practical difference between an Intelligence of 1621 and 1648? These changes are never even attested as making a concrete difference in the plot. And of course every ally and enemy of the protagonist is so far above the power of every character in early books as to be entirely unrecognizable. After all, the power of the challenges must rise in lockstep with the power of the heroes.
There is some actual character development, both for the protagonist and for supporting characters. Some long-running restrictions are surmounted and some long-existing goals are met. If we're conceiving the series as having a typical three-act structure, this eems to be the start of Act 3. There are still problems, but solutions are beginning to seem attainable.
The series started quite well, with characters and plots I cared about. And over time, it has devolved into a mess. I'll probably buy the omnibus edition that includes the last two volumes in the series, but that purchase won't happen until it's on a significant sale. Should you read this series? Maybe, especially if you pick up the first omnibus cheaply. But there's no reason other than inertia to continue beyond that.
There were more typos this time I think, but the story moved along and progressed well. Still despise the 14 year old who, no matter how many times she almost dies (or puts others in more danger, or gets people killed) she insists on "helping".
Spoilers past this point:
I'm a little confused why the MC is so hell bent on getting Sarah back using Golds plan...when he already has a deal to bring her back with the Author. It's just odd that he never mentions that plan, and doesnt keeps saying things like "if I dont succeed I'll never get Sarah back!"...but he's already on track to do that even if Golds plan fails. It would just take a little longer.
This series has been all but impossible to put down. I first picked up book 1 about a week and a half ago and I'm sure my wife is quite fed up with me by now lol. I can say my only real gripe is Sarah, throughout the series the Author never really had me liking her character much. I'd describe her best as a real life Karen lol. He should have given Kathrine a real chance I think. With that being said, the cliffhanger he left us with at the end here has me excited about what the reborn Sarah will be like in the next book. Well done Mr. Oster, Keep them coming!!
The awesome display of power. The action stupendous. Just kept me rivited to this series and this book in particular. It's not very often that you get to read a damn good series. Some start off slowly and okay. And struggle to get anywhere good But this. This has had it from start to nearly end and I am looking forward to the next book. I do recommend this book series one hundred percent. I prefer to give just a little embellishment to a good story and let the recommendations speak for themselves. You will not be disappointed in this series. It's that brilliant.

Aaron knocks another book out of the park! Thrilling read and great character progression! Loved the longer length and wouldn’t mind an even longer book! All the details and fighting scenes are fantastically put together. Would definitely read an Arbor and Morgan story about their training. Looking forward to more. Sad the end is near but excited to see it finish!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I was sad that there was no back and forth between Morgan and Arbor. I was looking forward to there being some sort of give and take between the two. You name dropping Arbor at the end of the last book is the reason why I have read all of the books in the Land of Elementals series. I think a crossover with the two of them would be a great idea. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
This is the book we've been waiting for. The final evolution, the stage at which Morgan breaks through. And not only Morgan, we find the rest of the team: Grace, Katherine, Elyssa etc. all find new stores of strength. But the next fights are just that much harder, and I look forward to seeing how they overcome them. Gold is still an ass though, so that doesn't change.
Oh my goodness. Absolutely, undoubtably, amazing. The author NEEDS more love, he has delivered once again. He continues to make sure each instalment is better than the last . Not to mention the sheer scale of this novel alone is fantastic. If you’re reading this review then you already know what you’re in for by now. And as I always say.
Great fun...skipped a lot of the battle descriptions.
There is a lot to like in this book and the plot is as intriguing as usual but I would say that the additional length is all from the pages upon pages of battle scenes. Just got really repetitive after a while but I am still excited for the next.
The battle scenes at times are so ridiculously long that I count them as book filler. Those same battle scenes especially the big one at the end also suffer from a major case a "why didn't he do that along time ago?!". There is a good continuation of the story in here once you slog through the repetitive battle scenes.
i absolutely loved it. it was a great read that i couldn’t put down it had my attention fixed on it all the way until i finished and was sad there wasn’t more to read but i can’t wait to read book 9 keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
As always this was a great book! Morgan finally gets reunited with the person he can't live without! The Age of Ancients preview is going to kill me until it comes out!
I like the book series a lot. I liked the power ups and the character development as well. Would have liked to see other side characters take a bigger role but overall good read.
