He controls dreams. Now the Dream King wants to claim me as his own.
When everyone in the world fell asleep at exactly the same time and woke up a week later, the world believed it was the start of a rampant plague. They didn't know the half of it.
Working in a sleep clinic is hardly the career of dreams, (pun intended) but when the world falls prey to a weird sleeping sickness, my job suddenly becomes a coveted position with amazing pay. Too bad watching people sleep is boring.
That is until a lethally sexy freaking brute of a man appears in the sleep study and accidentally drags me into the dream world. A world that he owns and rules over.
The dark and brooding jerk doesn't want me there, but I'm staying whether he likes it or not if there's a chance it will cure the sickness.
What I'm not expecting is the feelings he begins to ignite in me, just as the tables turn and I become his prisoner.

3.5 - Love the premise, but the characters are frustrating. Ana is mouthy, she uses the 'f' word liberally (it was said 15 times in 1/4 of a page) and is hard to root for. The Dream King, though we do not get a lot of information about him until the last 1/3rd of the book, he is angry and physically abusive to Ana. Dream was a far more sympathetic character and his life is heartbreaking.
The book ends on a cliffhanger of information and I will put book 2 on my TBR.
This book definitely wasn't for me. It was very difficult for me to keep reading it. The premisse is one I often enjoy, but I didn't like the way the story went and how it was written. It turned out to be confusing and the characters were very one-dimensional to me.
Elise knight created a masterpiece. I went through so many emotions with this story. Her story is one that will stick with you long after you have finished. I am absolutely beyond ready for her next book so I can read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I have not read anything like it. Who knew there was someone who watched our dreams or that our dreams created another world? The angst in this one was strong. I loved the fact that the alpha male was a virgin and had to be shown the ropes and wasn't the usual all experienced guy. The story was really intriguing and I am anxious to read more about the other courts and see more action in the future books.
I received an ARC of this book from the incredible Elise Knight. A slow-medium burn enemies to lovers book that had me captivated from the very beginning. Dream (hunky man on the cover) is well, just a dream 🥵😍
I can't wait for the second book and to see where this story goes.
A Dream King, and a Dream World? What a clever premise! The author excels here with world-building, as you will easily see. And the emotions evoked in the reader are impressive. I enjoyed both main characters, Ana and her Dream King. And the twists and turns of the story line had the reader never quite sure of where we were headed next!
This looks like it could be a good series, so grab your copy and meet the players so you’ll be ready when the ending drops you back into your own world to wait eagerly for the next book.
If guy is as hot as Dream entered my dreams I would be quite receptive. Let’s just say he is one tall drink of water. Ana is a hot mess but you love anyway.
The author does a great job building a fantasy world of dreams and a relationship that takes its sweet time but well worth the read. Ana and Dream’s enemies to lovers arc is funny and sometimes scary.
There is a rather unique twist at the end that had me screaming WHY at the cliffhanger.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
This is definitely a new world for me. I love the idea of a Dream King and devoured every page of this engaging story. A Dream World is an amazing concept and I loved it and the tale that the author spun for the reader. I am looking forward to more. No Spoilers Here!

Dream King is enemies to lovers romance. Ana and Dream journey has many twisted and turns but it is filled with emotion. It does end in a cliffhanger. Even though Dream King has great characters it’s storyline throws me off sometimes. I will definitely read next book in the series.
Wow, what an incredibly amazing book. Elise Knight wrote something that literally blew me away, Dream the main male character in this is every woman's dream come true. Um excuse the pun, he's tall dark haired and broody and extremely mysterious. Ana the main female is as expected of someone who's life has pretty much hit rock bottom, and has a mouth like a sewer. She swears as much as my husband, she's sassy and strong minded even in the face of fear. I don't know how the author came up with this story, but it is unique in almost every way. The ending was completely different to most, if not all books I've ever read. This is a definite must read for anyone who loves dark fantasy/Paranormal slow burn romance books, it will leave you in anticipation and practically begging on your knees for more. That or I'm just weird.
I really like the idea of interplay between the dreams and human world. At the beginning of the story it felt like there is more animosity between Ana and Dream -almost of the point that I was not sure where things were going. I found Ana to be particularly entertaining as we hear her point of view with quirky thoughts as they popped into her head. As I learned more about the dream world and the larger picture of things, I was able to see things as Ana did. Yes, it was a bittersweet ending which had me feeling more subdued than I thought. While some things were a resolved, there was so much more left undone and unsaid. I’ll be watching for the next book in the series to see where the rest of the story goes.

It wasn't bad. I think the general plot was good but it was lacking real development. The love story felt so rushed, and it made it a little hard to enjoy. Now I don't mind cursing, but the f word did seem to get used to the point where it felt forced.
Something I really liked He was a virgin, she was not. I don't necessarily want the man to be a virgin but i for me it gets a bit frustrating to constantly read she was the virgin, he was the player. I want to add if you like that trope, I'm not shaming you. I dont even hate it, it's just too overdone for me.
I think the ending was a pretty good cliff hanger, that did make me want to continue the story.

This was a great read. It took me a bit to get into it but I found it to be a great change of pace from what I have been reading lately. There was so many twists and turns that at times I wasn't sure what was going on. I loved the work and watching the growth of the characters over the course of the story was amazing to watch. It was was a great take on the paranormal genre and I am looking forward to reading the sequel to see what happens next.
I give this a five out of five stars.

Found it a bit boring. But, the end really left me hanging and now I need to read the rest of the series to figure out what the heck just happened. It really took an exciting and crazy turn at the end! And that twist with Ana's father I honestly didn't see coming. I definitely need to know what happened there and how in the world it's all connected. Definitely was a nice change of pace with Dream being the inexperienced one and seeing the difference in how he saw sex versus her. Wonder how in the world this will all make sense in the end
Elise Knight is a new author for me, but her Dream King (Realm of Night Book 1) is such a well done enemies to lovers fantasy romance tale that I’m looking forward to reading more from her. Both the lead here, Ana, and the eponymous Dream King, are well crafted characters, and the world-building with its interplay of dreams and reality is wonderfully imaginative. This was a fun book to read, and I’m happy to highly recommend it.
She works at a sleep clinic now trying to find answers for the big sleep. It hit everywhere a yea ago . Some people were safe sleeping in their homes. Others weren’t so fortunate. Her mother is one list to sleep. No answers are coming. One night at the clinic, strange events occur. There is a man with a crown, no shirt and he is gorgeous!. She tries to catch him but he jumps into one of their patients. Thus beginning a new nightmare
'Dream King' is a unique enemies to lovers fantasy romance. The story is well written with excellent world-building between dreams and reality. It's filled with engaging intrigue, drama, and emotions that hooks you in until the end'.

4 stars as really enjoyed this book but not sure I'd reread.
I'm definitely going to read the next instalment of this series. I wasn't sure about the main FC at 1st for 27 she seemed quite immature, but the characters grow on you & the idea behind the book is different to many one books. I definitely want to read more by this author.
Something caused the world to fall asleep at the same time, some woke up and some didn't. This FMC works at a sleep study center and sees a man who disappears and her interest is piqued.
Honestly, this girl is an idiot. When she thinks that she would be able to jump into a person like a supernatural being I knew I had to tap out.
Was at 75% before something of substance occurred. Quite slow, lots of hemming and hawing from FMC. At the 95% mark there was sex. And then it ended, not a cliff hanger. Just finished it and cannot tell you want happening at the beginning of book it was unremarkable.
This fantasy romance is fantastically good! I absolutely loved it! Emotion, drama, danger and mystery.. Just stayed on the edge of my seat.. and I cannot wait for more!

Enjoyable dark romance with an interesting plot featuring enemies to lovers in a fantasy world but certain points of the book felt unexplored. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ughhhhh no. This book isn't really my cup of tea. I mean she looks at him, feels something and then has a orgasm? Plus he's so horrible to her but then some kindness and she wants jump him. Not likely.

This steamy book starts out kinda F up. It draws you in and you really form connections with all the characters. Rollercoaster emotions, action, a splash of magic and bam you have Dream King! Book 2 is going on my tbr!!
I really enjoyed this book! It was a great unique fantasy that I haven't read before. Usually its all Fae or Elf worlds, which I love, but this was refreshingly different. The world and character development really draws you in. I cant wait for the next book!
This is a different but good story so far. Its like a darker version of never ending story. It sounds like it might get darker before it gets lighter in this series.
Thank you to Talk Nerdy 2 Me and the author, Elise Knight, for providing a copy of Dream King (Realm of Night book 1). I have reviewed honestly.
Dream King features, but is not limited to, the following themes: ○ Fantasy Romance ○ Enemies to lovers ○ Stockholm Syndrome ○ Otherworldly realms ○ Broody King ○ Snarky FMC
My overall rating for Dream King is…
3 Stars!
I'm having major mixed feelings about this book! On the one hand, the world building was spectacular! The tale was original and imaginative and the characters relatable (but unremarkable.) On the other hand, I didn't vibe with the writing style. I feel like the writing was on and off with some scenes exciting and others predictable and, honestly, a little boring. I also felt like the climax kind of sizzled out. Like, the story was building, building, building, but instead of crashing 1 around me it just kind of hit a dead end. Overall, this book has potential galore, and I'm positive many readers will love it, but for me it was just ok.
The first book in the Realm of Night series by a new Author to me and it looks like this is her debut book. Dream and Ana's story has dreams, suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. I want to read the next book.
