Daniella Belle, queen of hot mess, wants nothing more to do with members of the opposite sex; instead, she'll focus on what matters most—becoming a lingerie designer.
Until she's offered an opportunity of a lifetime by Mr. Cocky McHottie who believes he can charm the panties off every woman he meets.
Antonio Michaels, king of lingerie, has never had to work hard at anything.
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he's been served up a hefty life of entitlement. He's handsome, charmingly arrogant, and seems to date a different model every month.
But when he encounters a bombshell who’s unfazed by his mere existence, he finds himself captivated by her looks, her unrelenting potty mouth, and the fact he can't stop thinking about her.
A steamy fairytale-ish romantic comedy for readers who love snarky cinderella-ish heroines and the cocky prince charming-ish heroes who make hearts flutter.
Cinderella-ish is book one in the Happily Ever After series and can be read as a standalone.
Author of sexy rom-coms and feel-good contemporary romance, Joslyn Westbrook's novels feature sassy, classy, badassy heroines and the alpha-broody, breath-hitching heroes who sweep them off their feet. When she's not writing, Joslyn can be found binge-watching Netflix, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her husband and children at home in sunny California.
I freaking adore free books from Kindle Unlimited! I also like how KU is sometimes on point with recommending books because I really needed a good laugh.
Daniella Belle is absolutely hilarious. She also has a dream job and of course everything goes from bad to terrible to fucking horrendous on the day of her interview. She gets dumped over text by a douchebag because obviously people who dumb via phone are complete assholes. Then she bumps into a super drop dead gorgeous guy who smears jelly on her dress. Now any normal person would probably have a rant like Daniella did - but I just laughed so much when I read it that I started to cry. I probably would have done the same thing in that situation but it was really funny.
Oh, and the guy who accidentally smeared jelly on her that morning.. is the guy who's holding the interview. Things are about to get interesting.. Now, Antonio (jelly guy) is hot. I probably would have left him smeared jelly on my dress without complaints.
I, of course, started shipping Antonio and Daniella from the very start because let's face it - Daniella needed something good in her life to look forward to. I seriously hope there's going to be another book about these two because I have a feeling I'm going to miss them so much!
Other than that.. go read this book for yourself and I hope I didn't spoil anything.. I haven't had coffee yet!
It started out ok, with an interesting potential. It went downhill from there. To the point that slightly less than halfway through, it had become such childish, weird, corny, back and forth "banter" between the H and h, that shaking my head, I deleted it fom my kindle. 'Corny' is the best compliment I can offer. When was the last time you heard of an H, calling his h, 'smarty pants'? Because I can't remember the last time it appeared in a romance book I read. But, here 'tis. And she is his newly hired P.A.; also acting childish enough so that 'smarty pants' actually fits. If you like corny, and childish equates to romance for you, you may just love this one. It doesn't do it for me, and sadly, I wouldn't recommend this one.
Firstly, I'd like to thank the author, Joslyn Westbrook for sending me a copy of Cinderella-ish when I reached out to her! She was super nice and in return I'm going to review her book.
So to start, can we just appreciate how beautiful this cover is!!! I came across the book on my feed and I put it as "Want to read" before I even read the summary. Totally worth it though because the book was amazing.
Daniella Belle is a live-in nanny to a sixteen year old but she has a passion for designing lingerie. When an opportunity to be a PA for a major lingerie company arises, she takes the chance to apply. The day of her interview doesn't go as planned. She gets dumped over text and bumps into a handsome man who just so happens to smear jelly all over her new dress. Naturally, she goes on a rant, cause who wouldn't when your day just sucks?! Poor guy doesn't even know what to do LOL!
When she finally arrives at her interview, guess who's the one she applied to work for??
Antonio Michaels aka hot guy who smeared jelly all over her.
I know. It's just a love story waiting to happen!! I obviously don't want to ruin anything but you guys should definitely read it because it was amazing.
Cute. Loving. Charming. Sexual Tension. Hot Italian guy.
What more?!?!
I'm quite excited for the second book of this series to come out and I'm hoping we get to see more of Daniella and Antonio!
It started like a good 3-stars funny romance. But then it went too much into a naive modern fairy-tale. And let me stress it out, I like to read sweet stories from time to time (like e.g. Marry Me for Money), but it was too much in here.
First of all, I don't understand why using two narrators (heroine and hero point of view) is so popular. Yes, it is a very interesting and thrilling reading man's thoughts but it should be used if it makes the novel more interesting. Sometimes only female's voice does the romance more captivating. In here, I snarled when I had read for the third time (fourth, fifth? - I didn't count) hero's: If she only knew.
Next, he was her boss and she supposed to not like him, so why she called him 'Antonio' from the beginning instead of 'Mr. Michaels'? The whole relationship between employee and employer was ridiculous on both sides. It was courtship, nothing more. Joslyn Westbrook should have put more effort into creating a more believable business relationship.
The background/past of the hero... Really? Come on!
The fear of lightning and sleeping naked... Really? Come on!
Summarizing, it was too obvious, too naive. It was like a love story between supposed young adults written for twelve-year-old girls (apart from sex scene).
First let me say how much I love this book cover! That pink shoe is everything. Now for the real deal. I was excited to read this book, having read Joslyn's first book and loving it. I have to say it did not disappoint.
Chick lit is not my preferred genre, but I absolutely love this author and her writing style. The story was a cute spin on all of the Cinderella knock offs out there. For one Daniella doesn't believe in fairy tales. She is jaded and has been hurt. What she doesn't realize is fairy tales don't need you to believe in them to come true. You can't run from fate or your happily ever after.
Antonio is the hottest guy! Not only is he drop dead gorgeous, he is sweet, funny, sensitive and sarcastic. He is the only man that could get Daniella out of her funk and into his arms. Despite what TMZ says, he is a good man with a heart of gold. He is not the womanizer they portray him to be.
I was mad at Harvey and his minions when they broke the story about why they think Antonio was getting engaged. It totally pissed me off how they can ruin someone's life with speculation. This happens all of the time to celebrities and I feel for them. Imagine losing the love of your life because of a news story breaking on tv before you can tell her yourself.
Well, like all good fairy tales, this one ends with a HEA, but not one you may expect. I have to admit I figured out the surprise at the end during the story and knew what was happening in the epilogue. Go figure. It was still cute to read and I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book for the most part, it was a fun and quick read, but what really ruined it for me were the couple of sex scenes and phrases like "pleasure tool" and "goodie box". Also the ending was super rushed and kind of like a "gotcha" moment, which I didn't care for.
Cute romance between Daniella and Antonio. She spills her drink on him on the train-later finds out he is the guy who will be interviewing her for a job. He’s a millionaire in the fashion industry. She went to fashion school with a focus on lingerie. It was sweet. Tad bit steamy at the end but nothing crazy.
I've read (only) spectacular reviews about this and I was so eager to read this. But it's just a story with a string of convenient (VERY convenient) "twists" here and there. I couldn't believe I actually finished the book (in hopes of razzling by dazzle)? I didn't like the first half (nope, not even that) and I was hoping there's something that I'll like on the other, after all, this was rated highly, wasn't it? Spoiler alert, there are none. Maybe I missed something because there is not a thing I like about this book.
Daniella’s boyfriend breaks up with her by text. But she doesn’t believe in Prince Charming anyway. So now she’s done with men. She is sassy and definitely has a mouth on her. A potty mouth. If you dislike the use of the f-word: don’t read this.
Antonio is a handsome rich dude who can’t find love. He wants someone to like him for him and not for his money or fame or connections. Then he meets Daniella and he doesn’t know what to do; she makes him nervous and that’s new for him.
They argue, they fight, they bicker. But the attraction is most certainly there!
It’s romantic, it’s funny, and I absolutely loved it! This book is proof that Ms. Westbrook’s memorable debut novel was not just a fluke.
Fans of chick lit and modern fairy tales are going to love this book just as much as I did!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
Well, I didn't hate it. But a book has to be truly epic to earn a five star rating from me. This book was a little less than mediocre in my opinion. I found many of the story's word choices to be off-putting. Words are important. There are so many words in the English language because they often times convey a specific meaning. I find that writers who use a thesaurus too liberally often don't fully grasp the nuances of words. So rather than being impressed by an author's varied language I get distracted by imprecise, incorrect language. This story has many such references. The first being her voluptuous legs. While not incorrect, legs do not stand out as being voluptuous. The general meaning of this word is amply proportioned, curvy, large busted. I just didn't think it fit with her other descriptions of the character.
Again, not a bad story. I think it could move up in the star rating with better editing.
I wanted to like this story so much, I even hung on till the ending thinking there'd be a twist. Well, there IS a twist, but the characters get over it so quickly, it doesn't even really feel like drama or action of any type. Which is sad because the whole story's like that. The characters seem too stereotypical, we get the hardships of their background told in sickeningly sweet tones, and the conversations just fall flat. I wanted to like this story, and I believe the plot itself could be good with a few real twists and better conversations, but right now it's not there. Right now it's a superficial tale of one character who falls in love WAY too fast, and the other who tries to act tough but has no backbone whatsoever and eventually does what we all know she'll do. Boring, predictable, and done to death by everyone else.
This is Book 1 in the “Happily Ever After” series, which can be read as a standalone. It’s set in Los Angeles, California.
Daniella Belle is twenty-four years old, is from Texas, and tends to curse like a sailor. She is described as carrying herself with a naïve, yet classy, allurement, and as drop-dead gorgeous with her big green cat-shaped eyes, shiny long and straight ebony hair, cappuccino-coloured skin tone, and petite and hour-glass figure.
The book starts with Daniella’s receiving a breakup text from her boyfriend of 45 days, telling her that she was a “sweet, take-it-home type of girl” and that wasn’t what he was looking for. She had given up meeting her Mr. Charming ages ago, but on receiving the text, she swears off men and swears that she will never again date.
Daniella has been working for five years as a nanny to single mum Stacy, a well-known entertainment lawyer, looking after her daughter Emma, who was now 16 years old and no longer in need of her. Daniella was, therefore, on the metro on her way to an interview as the personal assistant of Antonio Michaels – creator and CEO of “Crave Me” lingerie – in an attempt to secure a foothold into fashion and her dream job as a designer, when she has an accident involving an arrogant man and a jelly donut. Not exactly a “cute meet”.
The man is, of course, gorgeous: tall, slender, dark-haired, and tanned, with smouldering dark smoky blue eyes and an international brew of accent.
The book was an okey read/listen but nothing special. I found too many absurdities, i.e. the weird names for ones’ private parts, e.g. “goody box”, and the characters’ reactions, especially in the jelly donut incident, but more so in the hiring of a PA. The latter was based only on the fact that he had the hots for her, as otherwise the only thing known about her was that she’d been a nanny. Then – naturally, and coincidentally – she just happens to have experience with a top designer in a fashion show and training/experience as a lingerie designer. More precisely, that she had graduated the top of her class from LA’s Fashion Institute of Design the previous year.
That said, I can accept the paparazzies and viral video aspect, the Annual Wager Fest, and the inheritance stipulation of marrying before turning thirty, but too much is too much.
The end of the book, which explains the title, was corny, and it felt as if it was just added in order to have a book title. The epilogue was also a pretty rushed affair, perhaps written to tie off one end. I thought it unnecessary however, as it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.
Where do I even start? who in Los Angeles takes the metro? Please tell me WHO? The meet cute could have worked if it were New York or DC, but not in LA. Next, does Antonio even have a fashion design background?
How is a 29 year old running a successful fashion company that he started? When did he start it? Truly, the only young designer I can think of who has been successful is Hayley Paige and that’s because she designs wedding dresses and even still she’s under the JLM Couture Group. Also what’s with Jonah also being 29 and running a successful company?
Why the HELL does Antonio have an Italian/French accent? He was BORN AND RAISED in the UNITED STATES. He has never lived in Italy or France. His accent literally makes no sense.
So when did Daniella go to fashion school and work for Lauren Blake...in New York may I add? She’s 23. She’s been working as a live in nanny for 5 years. So she was 18 when she started nannying...also 18/19 would be when she would start school. Did she really nanny while in fashion school? Because how on earth did she have time for both? The ages and timeline make zero sense in this book.
Next thing I had an issue with, unless you’re flying southwest no airplane stops at an airport and lets people get off then have new people board. Maybe this was a thing before I paid attention to flights as an adult..but these days (minus southwest) its a layover and you get off the damn plane and another plane takes you to your final destination.
Ok my big problems now with this book. IS DANIELLA THAT STUPID?? Literally thinking Nonna is a person’s name? I’m not Italian yet when I was 23 I knew nonna is an Italian name for grandmother. JUST GOOGLE IT MORON RATHER THAN SPECULATING. Even if I was THAT stupid to not know another name for grandma, nonna sounds pretty unique so I would just google it and quickly realize I’m an idiot for assuming it’s a person’s name. Also when they got to Milan, why didn’t Antonio want Daniella exploring Milan? The idiot didn’t even bother arguing back and she literally saw NOTHING in Milan. For someone so outspoken and abrasive why didn’t she put up a fight over this? Daniella sucked as a character. Did she not realize it’s a red flag that Antonio proposed without her ever telling him that she loves him?
I just could not handle the stupidity of this book. Not to mention the bizarre language constantly used throughout the book. This book couldn’t end soon enough for me.

CINDERELLA-ISH is an absolutely wonderful contemporary romantic comedy about a lingerie industry mogul who was secretly looking for a bride before his upcoming birthday and his new personal assistant, who had made a promise to herself to vehemently swear off men.
The breathtakingly beautiful Daniella Belle caught Antonio Michaels' attention while on public commute for the first time. But since her mind was elsewhere, she didn't notice him and accidentally stumbled upon him who was leisurely eating a jelly donut. Daniella immediately hated him for ruining her dress on one of the most important days of her life, the day of her job interview. She didn't mince her words about it and he called her a potty mouth. But she got the surprise of her life when it turned out that the arrogant prick who ruined her day was the owner the company where she wanted to work. Worse, their little altercation became TMZ material. When she thought that her dreams of becoming a lingerie designer crashed, Antonio pursued her to accept his job offer. They went to Milan for Fashion Week and this was where their romance blossomed . Antonio was head over heels in love with Daniella and she said yes to his marriage proposal. However, TMZ's revelations allowed her trust issues to resurface. In the end, Antonio showed her that his love for her was unconditional.
OMG. This book was so good! I devoured it in one sitting and I was laughing so hard most of the time. There was a bit of a tearjerker too, when childhood memories were revealed. But all in all, the sweet, endearing, and exciting moments Daniella and Antonio shared were quite unforgettable. The author had such a way with words that I was hooked from the start of this book and it got me craving for more. So, I can't wait to read the next standalone book under this series. She may be a new author but I think she has such a huge superstardom potential. I am definitely stalking Joslyn Westbrook now.
Absolutely smitten with this book. So glad I stumbled across it, because what a pleasant surprise. The title and that cute as hell cover had me one-clicking...so glad I did. These two meet on the Metro with the jelly doughnut “incident”, funniest damn scene. Had me laughing my ass off. She’s on her way to a big job interview, he’s there because of a bet with his longtime best friend. And of course because he’s rich and famous the altercation is all over TMZ, so funny. Her interview is with him, which is even funnier because he calls her potty mouth after their altercation. Naturally he wants to hire her, because he too, it quite taken with her.
That’s the foundation for the book, Antonio owns a highly successful lingerie line and she graduated top of her class for design, specifically lingerie. Antonio is a great guy, losing his mom at birth and having been raised by his grandma, Nonna. He’s a total sweetheart. Daniella was raised in foster care, but has found a wonderful and loving family she nannies for. It’s so refreshing.
This book was just that, refreshing....like a breath of fresh air. Very little drama, which I appreciate. Great safe read with an epilogue. Would really like Liza and Jonah’s story...hint, hint. And maybe more of an epilogue for these two, with some babies. I think this is one of the authors first books, to say I was shocked is an understatement....she should’ve always been writing. Psst...I already pre-ordered the next book.
Anyone else gutted that on packed trains they only tend to meet weirdos or people that smell? Maybe that's just me and I should stick to driving, but lucky, lucky Daniella managed to meet the man of her dreams... Ok so their first meeting doesn't exactly go well as the angry exchange ends up on TMZ. But their second meeting... Well actually that's just as bad when Daniella arrives at her interview only to find the hottest man she's ever met, but also the man she just berated on the train, would be her new boss. Misunderstandings aside, the sparks fly between these two immediately and both give a valiant effort not to give in to the attraction, but it proves too much and they finally give in. Unfortunately, the course of true love doesn't always run smoothly and when a hidden secret is revealed, it ruins what this pair have worked so hard to build.
I absolutely adored this story, there's so much packed in in a short space of time, I just couldn't stop reading. Great characters, great storylines, bags of laughter and overflowing with heat. I'm straight on to the next book in the series.
In just 2 books, Joslyn Westbrook has cemented herself as one of my go to authors, from now on when I see her name, it will be an immediate one click! Highly recommend this book to any romcom lovers out there, or just if you need a palette cleanser, or just want something easy and fun to enjoy. Loved it.
I thought this was a really cute story. I liked Daniella. She has d a rough go in life but she was determined to follow her dreams. I liked that she was take charge and didnt take any BS from Antonio. I liked Antonio as well. He was infatuated with Daniella from the start. but this romance was a slow burn. I liked that they really got to know each other before becoming a thing. Overall this was really cute and I enjoyed listening to it. 3.5 stars
The audiobook was narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Alexander Cendense. I really liked Savannah in this one. I'm not sure if I have listened to her before but I plan on looking for more books with her in it. I have feelings about Alexander and not all good. He is great for a male voice but his female voices are horrible to me. This one was a little more bearable. I think he is getting a little better and toning the screechiness (???) down. There was an Italian grandma in this book and his Italian old lady voice sounded super good. So I dunno. I think he would thrive with duet style because he doen'st have to do women's voices but he was ok in this one. Also maybe because he didn't do a lot of chapters and this book was around 5 and 1/2 hours. 5 stars for Savannah 3 for Alexander.
I got this as an Amazon deal. The synopsis sounded good. I'm a sucker for the average girl meeting a handsome, well built, SINGLE billionaire & he falls for her. Not realistic, but average girls can dream. I had a few problems with this one. The handsome, billionaire can't get a woman. Huh? It also seems like he has 2 employees for his international company. The big international fashion show is in 2 weeks & he has no idea what to do. No plan, nothing. It's up to the heroine who has been an employee for 2 days to come up with an idea, shop for accessories 2 days before the big event,, run the show, model one of the lingerie pieces & save the day. Also, she's gorgeous, couldn't get a job in lingerie design out of college & for 6 years has been a nanny. Her high price lawyer employer got her the interview with the hero. As much as I can run with illogical plot themes, this is a little much. There's also the contrived BIG MISUNDERSTANDING at the end. I won't be going on with the series.
I was very much surprised by this book. Daniella was such a headstrong character and I admired her snark. I do feel that considering this had to have a love story angle a lot of details were placed on the back burner. It would have been great to get more into her background except the lackluster history she is given. At first the story is paced wherein things are going normally then all of a sudden everything gets sped up. I was enjoying reading about the dichotomy between Daniella and her new boss Antonio but was caught off guard when things started moving way too fast. I was still stuck on the fact that Daniella had gotten such a major opportunity when they were already moving past the third obstacle. Also, it was truly Daniella's ball-busting attitude that made me keep reading at first but once Antonio becomes her boss its like she loses all sense of her character. Even then, I still liked the story, I just wished there was more to read.
I love the first half of this book. It’s well written, the characters were great, and then.....poof, it speeds up, and not in the way you expect action in a book to do, but the writing feels forced. It’s like an outline of what the author thought she had to accomplish before she finished the book was published.
I don’t know what happened, but by the time they left Milan, Daniella and Antonio’s motives, inner dialogues and the plot all just seemed to fizzle out. This book could have been perfect if the author drew the second half of the book out, described more things in detail, and didn’t race towards the end. The climax of the book was basically non-existent because of it.
Love this couple. I enjoyed their interactions from the first accidental meeting, failed interview attempt, to Milan. This was a cute romance, well paced, and had lots of humor. I enjoyed the supporting characters and can't wait for the next book. It was a little odd that the personal assistant did nothing a personal assistant would do, but then again that wasn't really why she was hired i guess. She was, however, EVERYTHING else you'd need in a business partner. Hard to picture a hugely successful business owner being that unprepared. Other than those details, I really enjoyed the book and would recommend. I enjoyed the writing style.
Loved the characters, the glitziness and while I don’t know much about the fashion world, is it really possible for such an untried newbie (even with a modicum of experience) to do as much in Milan as she’s supposed to do?
Eh, it doesn’t matter much because it’s a comedy for sure; and like I said, it’s the characters who keep throwing glitter all over the page (in a good way, okay?) and distracting from huh? moments.
I’m looking forward to the next book, and hey! I hope the 405 is mentioned in the credits again. We so often forget the *why* of an idea! (Maybe the 101 is next up)
This had so much potential but it just fell flat. I think it just progressed too fast to be believable. The conflict was wrapped up too easily and too close to the end of the book to give it the time it needed. The epilogue was the perfect set up for a sequel that was hinted at pretty much all book and then the sequel is about 2 totally different people...?! Like what?! I read the blurbs and they sound interesting but after knowing I felt the same way about this book's blurb and was disappointed I'm not willing to give the other 2 books in the series a chance.
Well this started really cute and adorable, even funny! However it turned into a really badly written Harlequin romance that made me want to vomit and laugh until I cried! It got much better the last chapter was super typical romcom cute. I even thought the grand gesture was really cute, but it was really weird really fast, and I never wanted to dnf a book so late before! There was less than 30 minutes left of the audiobook, and I almost gave up, but I decided to finish. I enjoyed the ending it was well done, but I'm really mostly just glad this book is over LOL it had such potential what a disappointment.!
