Most of the pages in this book are actual watercolor paper with blank space reserved for the use of the reader/painter (that's you). Comes with a palette of six artist-quality watercolors and a brush. Most importantly, this book also comes with the artwork, technique tips and encouragement of renowned illustrator Thacher Hurd.Comes With: A set of watercolors, a brush Have fun
Thacher grew up in a family of children's book artists, and after attending the California College of Arts and Crafts, he began to turn his talent to picture books. He is the award-winning author of Mama Don't Allow, Art Dog, and most recently Moo Cow Kaboom! He has also written two board books, Cat's Pajamas and Zoom City. Thacher and his wife, Olivia, live in Berkeley, California.
Personally I like Quentin Blake's Drawing for the Artistically Undiscovered better, but this is a really nice book. It comes with a pretty good paint brush and paint. Like the Quentin Blake book, it's like taking a class from Thacher Hurd. Very fun! In a quick search, it looks like this book is out of print. I find that sad because there are a lot of good exercises and painting experiences in this book. When I finished it, I felt like I had done a PhD. thesis.
