So incredibly excited that this moment has finally come. It's been a long, emotional rollercoaster sharing the story of April Meridia and the pearl wielders but I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far. I can't wait to chat to you about Tempus!
This was a really satisfying ending to the pearl welders trilogy and I canโt believe it took me so long to pick it up.
Tempus picked up right after Essentia and we see the team dealing with the consequences of the events of the last book. This was definitely the most heartbreaking of the three and my heart really cried out for April.
I have to say that Alex and Ollie remain my absolute fave characters and April follows closely behind. The pairing between Ollie and April is great. I really ship them together and they compliment each other so perfectly. The entire mix of characters are so diverse in the context of the book, representing all the warring factions and the little snippets of tales told throughout the series reach their own satisfying conclusions. Iโm extremely curious about whether Megan and Ollie are cousins as I suspect ๐
I rated this 4 instead of 5 stars for 2 main reasons. Firstly m, There were elements of this that felt really unfinished to me. Especially in the plot line with the merdevil. In the end I didnโt really understand his purpose, it seemed liked April could do what she did with Ollieโs support so Iโm not sure where the merdevil plays itโs part. At the end, we see the merdevil is still communicating with her so Iโm interested to see if this will play a part in any future pearl wielder books. Also - the ending in regards to tenebrasco mer felt incomplete. A little more about how they assimilate ect wouldโve ended it in a more satisfying manner.
The second reason, is that the chapters felt like they trailed off instead of coming to a close. It felt very abrupt and it could sometimes be a little jarring to start a new chapter. All in all, as I reread the first two books as well I would say the books do lack a little of the finesse that comes with a good edit. Though itโs no where near problematic and definitely doesnโt take away from the enjoyment, some fine tuning would turn an already great book into a masterpiece.
Despite all this, I have to say itโs one of my favourite indie series out there and I canโt wait to see what the author writes next.
