Inspired by several true events, this is a complex psychological murder mystery thriller with enough twists and turns to build a country lane.Sam Butcheart has just received a pardon, so he can finally tell the attractive reporter his story. Did Sam really see a ghost? Why did he tie himself up in his basement? Why did he commit arson? What were the millionaires and billionaires doing in that exclusive Grove establishment? Who were all the children floating down the river in white clothing? The story is also is a philosophical adventure exploring the illusion of self, the nature of our souls, the foundation of shame, and, most importantly, the incredible healing power of love.
I received this book as part of a GoodReads Giveaway, and it was one of the best books that I have ever read. The themes of grief, trauma, identity, spirituality, morality, and healing resonated with me. The narrative framing of the book, as a “thriller”, made it readable and kept me turning the page. This book defies genres and expectations, and reading it was a truly transformative experience. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
