What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).
Once she heard about a writer who never let her characters deviate from the script. If they did, she just killed them. How sad, she thought. For her one of the best parts of being a writer is letting the characters have a mind of their own and seeing where the story takes them.
She loves this quote from Robert Frost, which sums up her opinion on allowing the characters their freedom: “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.”

Man ,did I this.
Jennifer is a HUGE idiot and Chad was a weak clueless d bag...
Geez,this was a mess...
While I was willing over look spelling mistakes, and words in sentences that didn’t quite make sense,but a story that was just a hot mess like this was ? No.
Ok. Chad was just a clueless man hore, who while he seemed to want to put his family/skulk first, wasn’t very bright and seemed to this it didn’t stink and his “silver fox” good looks and flattery should get him anything he wants... sleeps with what ever suits his fancy just because,and he just lacks good sense.. like his dick and his charm and money will get him anything he wants, good sense be damned..
Little to no world building,or character building,soo I honestly can’t understand exactly why he wants the land Jennifer’s bakery is on.. I mean he land is near some woods,that has caves he wants for his skulk,but why does he want Jennifer’s land ? Because it possible for a tiny little exit hole from the caves ( a hole they HAVE TO BE in fox form to even use) can be seen from her building so he wants to buy it in hopes of them going unseen... what in fox form ? Ppl are going to think it’s odd to see a fox or two coming and going from a hole in the ground ? Asaaaaaaaaaaa,that’s what foxes do ? Do these shifters live like animals normally ? I mean why is a man who used to live in NYC looking for a cave for 20-30 ppl to live in ,especially when his own sister has twins on the way ? Ever the weirdest shifters in books usually live in houses,not caves..
How do they make a living if their living in a cave ? And if their going to just live in a cave like animals why both jobs and cell phones and cars and such ? I mean I can guess or make up answers here but really that’s the writers job and it really doesn’t make sense...
Then there’s the weird gullible fast falling dumb rear Jennifer ,who changes her mind about Chad soo often I think she was trying to give me whiplash..
Seriously, when the itch meets him,she doesn’t want to give him the time of day because he’s “too attractive and charming” and I agreed with her but unlike her I knew for certain he was just out to use his looks and shallow flattery to use her and lose her once he got her property.. Well on minute she’s trying to keep her distance and the next she’s getting to take her to the most expensive place she knows 30 minutes away for a bet... I already wasn’t a fan of Chad’s, but when he shamelessly flirts with the hostess at the fancy restaurant just to get in and thus win his bet with Jennifer I liked him even less.
Jennifer somehow starts to fall for him by dessert and if kissing him an alley,when rogue wolves attack them...
She saves them both by macing the wolves and by lunch time the next day she’s some now almost in “love” with him..
Seriously ? A day or so later they fall out when he pushes her too hard about selling and suddenly he’s the enemy and she runs off.. now Chad is a weak d bag in my book,but Jennifer runs hit and cold more than a faucet. Then her place is torched and of course even though he saved her life ,Chad must have done it. One minute the clueless idiot thinks she’s falling in love w/him,the next obviously he’s trying to burn down her building..
WTF?!?!? Was all I could say,then while she’s acting dumber by the minute more ppl are out to kill Chad while he’s still hopelessly/foolishly lining over Jenn even though supposedly they can’t be together ( it’s not allowed in this shifter world) and she is stupid and hated him.
Seriously this was a mess,neither of these idiots were likable and neither made sense in their over all actions.
What the heck kinda fairy tale was this supposed to be ?
I’m just grateful it’s over,I couldn’t take it past 52%.
Good luck and all the best to writer but I don’t plan to return and I’m soo grateful it was KU.
