This is the last in the series about a Pandora's Box-like curse that plagues the well-known "heroes" of folklore, fairy tale, literature, and myth. Each is a stand-alone, but I do want to advise potential readers of two general aspects of this collection that are not to all tastes. First, the curse is very amorphous and never explained: some already appear cursed; others experience it for the first time. Side Note: In truth, in the volumes I read, "obsession" is a more apt word than "curse." Second, the "darkness" factor varies widely between each book, so, if you have any triggers, you may want to read the reviews before trying the others.

I had to laugh when I saw the extant text that this particular book was based on since none of the others looked to animal tales for their inspiration. Here, we get Lady Delilah Darling and Henry Trampine, with dollops of Cinderella and Oliver Twist. Because I've never seen the animated film, I'll leave it to other reviewers to compare and contrast. I do know that Golden Angel adheres to the broad outline by emphasizing the class differences between the two: here, Henry, the "king" of the Victorian London underworld, must protect an impoverished noblewoman fleeing her abusive guardian. The rest of the book details their erotic relationship which is heavy on -- you guessed it -- pet play.

Golden Angel is one of my favorite authors in this genre, but no one can bat 1000 and, thus, I've not liked every book -- including this one. Overall, I'd say that if you're looking for descriptive erotica that isn't too harsh and you like pet play, you will probably enjoy this. Because there's little story, conflict, or character depth, and much of the relationship takes a huge suspension of disbelief, I found it best to approach this as almost pure erotica; otherwise, little of it makes any sense. I did appreciate that within the limitations of generic expectations, the Tramp treated his Lady relatively well and that the timid Delilah gained a toward the end.

Ultimately, however, this book wasn't for me. Throughout, Delilah keeps telling herself that no matter what Henry does to her, she feels "safe" even though she doesn't understand why that is. The problem with this strategy is that while the character might not understand, it's crucial that the reader does, and I didn't. I couldn't buy that a sheltered young woman with hopes for an aristocratic marriage would so quickly and easily lose her virginity -- and her prospects -- to a man she doesn't know and has no reason to trust. I couldn't buy that she felt safe with someone who threatens to throw her out on the streets if she doesn't comply. (I really, really, really didn't buy this: the rest can be explained by "betraying-body-syndrome," but how is being threatened with homelessness and starvation a kink? I would have had a hell of a lot more respect for her if she had called him on it and left rather than reach new heights of cognitive dissonance by twisting this reprehensible behavior into "ooh, he cares for me!" Really, there's not enough disbelief to suspend here and I was pretty much done after that.) I couldn't buy that the frightened, exhausted, traumatized, and inexperienced Delilah could go from 0 to 60 on the sex-o-meter with nary a hitch. I couldn't buy that Delilah felt that Henry treated her better than the people she ran from when all he did was objectify her. Ms. Golden tries to make this palatable, but I felt far too often that the author was telling me that Delilah was fine with everything rather than giving me reasons to believe it. Not once did Henry ever do anything for her that was not ultimately self-serving.

Delilah's almost complete and total self-abnegation and submission to a man who constantly humiliated her and stoked her anxiety made this read more like a straight man's wet dream rather than something written by a woman. Delilah simply does whatever the Tramp tells her with little pushback (she doesn't even ask him any questions and, really, Henry doesn't do all that much to assuage her fears). Because I prefer heroines with more grit and plots with more tension, I didn't find this book all that compelling and ended up skimming a lot of it. Nevertheless, for what it is, it's enjoyable enough and will pass the afternoon if you don't mind what I say here.

2 1/2 stars. This contains several editing errors. Ms. Angel thanks a bevy of beta readers, but they haven't done her any favors; I'd suggest a professional editor next time.

ETA: Since some reviewers claim that this is a realistic depiction of how women were treated at that time (that women were "property") and one advised us to "look it up:" Uh, okay, I did. Leaving aside the fact that Henry isn't a father, husband, or guardian to Delilah, that none of these generic books are hardly historically accurate (and, yes, do tell me that we read them for the history), and that we don't know exactly what decade the book is set in, women were hardly without any rights. If it's after 1839, a woman could retain custody of her children. After 1852, a husband could not longer force his wife to live with him. After 1857, a husband no longer had the right to any earnings from the wife he abandoned. After 1870, married women were able to keep the money they've earned and own property: http://hist259.web.unc.edu/marriedwom.... And from what I can tell, single women were always able to own property; working women belonged to some trade unions; and women had access to higher education beginning in the 1840s. And when you say, "property," know that after 1833, slavery was illegal in the UK. Curious if anyone else has "looked it up?"

I also note that many reviewers said this was consensual; either we have different definitions of "consent" or they missed this:
What if I do not want a tail?” She whispered the question, quailing but determined.

Henry’s dark gaze studied her for a moment before he answered, tilting his head as he did so.

“There is the door, pet. You are welcome to see how far you can get.”

How far she could get without a protector in the most dangerous part of London, she’d ever been in? Delilah did not even know if she would be able to find her way out. And even if she could, where could she go? This was why she’d accepted his protection in the first place. Even if she spun a story, after a night out away from her guardian and chaperone, she would be considered damaged goods to the ton.

So, if he wanted to put a tail in her bottom, there was really nothing to do but accept it.
I'm mentioning this in particular in case those who don't like non-consent read this based on others' claims.

After finishing A Season for Spies,i was left with one question.
What was the Lady and the Tramps’s story?
Finding out the answer lay in The Lady, and hearing it was free,i followed the link.
And found it was on Amazon…..damn!
When i asked Golden Angel if i could buy it from her,she quickly replied.
To my joy,she said she wanted to give the same to non-Amazon readers via bookfunnel, and i was able to get the Lady and the Tramp’s story after all!
And what a story it was….sweet, hot, delicious and véry satisfying!

All Lady Delilah Darling ever wanted, was someone that cared about her.
Her late father blamed her for her mother’s death, but he did do one thing right….
When he died,he left her in the care of his best friend,Lord Greene and his young wife.
They were, after her mourning period was over, going to sponsor her Season.
And so far,it was a wonderful Season!
Until Lady Greene became pregnant and they had to move back to the countryside….
Leaving Delilah in the care of his aunt, the Dowager Countess Felton, and her two granddaughters that were also having their first Season.
And that’s where everything good turned horribly wrong….and she ran all the way to the Warrens to escape that horrible place.

Henry Trampine, also known as the Tramp, was king of the Warrens,in the lower side of London.
He was quite content with his life as a bachelor, until he saw a girl dressed in pink.
His instant urge to get her out of that hideous dress surprised him,and she haunted his mind for weeks after.
Until, one day,he saw that same girl,in that same dress, running down the Warrens.
He stated his claim before anyone had a chance to even touch her,and took her home.
She intrigued him,and he sent his men to find out her story as he took care of the poor girl.
She was not the same happy thing he saw all those weeks ago,and even though he was a harsh man,a ruffian,he wanted one thing only.
To give this innocent girl a safe place,a place where he could call her his.
And with her sweet surrender to his every dark desire, she made him hers in return.
Until everything went horribly wrong….

Would the Tramp be able to save his Lady a second time?
To show the whole of London she was his?
And to keep her as his treasured pet?

This was a delicious story,a wonderful smutty one.
But with a sad undertone….of a society that was superficial and uncaring.
But with hope too…of finding people that dó care,in an unexpected place.
A story i enjoyed very much!

Whilst this wasn't a terrible read, there wasn't particularly any plot to speak of and there were quite a few typos and misplaced words. I do not tend to notice editing issues so it tells you something that I did in this one.

The focus very much was on the smut and if you're ok with that then I do recommend it as it's pretty good quality filth. I found the two main characters pleasant enough, though for the life of me I couldn't tell Tramp's two henchmen apart. It's a fairly kinky read and includes both spanking, humiliation and some scenes of dubious consent. The latter doesn't bother me, as a rule, but what DID specifically earn my ire was the author victim-blaming the heroine!

Early on there is a scene where Henry (Tramp) stripped Delilah and molested/groped her without consent. This wasn't a problem. The heroine "boxed" Henry's ears in response so he started to spank Delilah. Again not a problem. As she was laid over his knee, Delilah considers how she was out of order to physically assault Tramp, even though it was provoked by his behaviour/assault. That wasn't ok with me. It felt as though the author was gaslighting the heroine 😂. The "hero" can do what he likes but if the heroine fights back she is out of order and needs punishing? Bullcrap.

I did manage to lay that early annoyance to one side and enjoyed the rest of the book. It's perfect if you're looking for a hot, naughty, quick read.

Based on the 'Lady and the Tramp' fairy-tale/retelling, I came into this with high expectations and whenever I do with any read, they're never met. Partially because of the hot cover, I was instantly drawn to this and I tried to like this. I really really try but with it’s unlikable characters and non-existent plot, it was meh. The erotic scenes were enjoyable but there was barely a solid storyline to fully reel me in so skimming came in to play. Sadly, this just wasn’t for me.

4 stars (enjoy Kate Pearce, Jess Michaels, Victoria Vale)

Hey every now and then you just want dessert and not an entire meal 😉. That book cover...damn sexy

would recommend this book if your main goal is looking for the hotness, steam and dominance setting.

it’s more like 2 stars to my personal likings with romance books but that would be unfair to rate it that low as this type of book is solely for sexual and dominance reading.

Romantic/sexual content (kissing, oral, love making scenes) was throughout the book. This is a dominant-submissive book. 5/5 hotness and steam.

I was a little disappointed that all the Intimate written scenes were around the dominant-submissive characters, there were no real ‘intimacy loving’ scenes.

each chapter is written from either male character view point or female character view point; mostly internal dialogue. The writing is straight forward with no real depth to the story or characters. Quick Read.

Delightful Take on Lady and the Tramp!!

Lady Delilah is trying to make the most of her first, and most likely only, Season. Upon her father’s death, Lord Greene offered to sponsor her Season. When he must move to the country he leaves her under the care of his aunt as her twin daughters are also in the season. But Delilah is competition and the twins are vipers.

Forced to run away she is “rescued” by Henry Trampine. The “Tramp” is a ruffian and runs a gambling establishment. He can tell Delilah has been mistreated as she caught his eye earlier. An interesting journey for both these characters as he takes full control of Delilah, but in his own way cares for her more than other “respectable” members of society have.

Emotional, and a bit dark. This story will hold you spellbound. Highly entertaining!!

This is definitely not the version of Lady and the Tramp that Disney filmed. Although, I would pay good money to see a version of it. Lots and lots of good money. As in here, take all my money.

Anyhow, Lady Delilah is celebrating her Season in London, trying to find a husband among the ton, but then she gets left with a horrible woman, and things change. Delilah was just such a happy character in the beginning. It's like there was a joyfulness that radiated out of her and touched everyone who saw her. That changes through the book, but in a good way, I think.

The Tramp, Henry, might be on the wrong side of the law, but I think that he's probably the best man in the book. He's honorable, and he stands by his honor, no matter what.

It's derived from the Lady and the Tramp but this book had no Soul. There was no chemistry between the two leads. The Tramp was an unlikeable character. As soon as they met they are already having sex. No romance at all. This book was not for me.

Wow. I super mega hated this. Turns out I hate slave scenarios. She was basically threatened to do it. The writing/story wasn’t convincing at all that she liked it. I hate any character that wants to keep a human, naked, collared, leashed and crawling, especially in front of everyone, mainly strangers. The FMC even said it was weird to stand upright on two feet, since she was used to only crawling and kneeling. He didn’t “care” for her at all. He hand fed her while she kneeled on the floor. That’s the only thing that would be close. This made me rage. P.S. there was no romance, only sex and humiliation.

Tacky

I love a good romance. I love a dominant male, however this book was pure smut. I skipped several chapters because I just wanted to get to the end. The male lead was beyond tactless. I had sympathy with the female lead. Afterall women in those days had limited options especially one of her station in life. This author should write in the porn categories, not have one thinking they are going to read a steamy romance with the usual bodice ripping and light spanking towards the female for her defiance by the dominant male. If you want to read about feisty females and alpha males, then surely authors such as Nikita Slater and Virginia Henley can more than fulfil that need.

I can’t remember the last time I read a historical romance novel, but the Victorian Era was the right setting for Lady & the Tramp.

I have to say, it was tough not to rate this one lower, purely because, well, a lot of the kinkier stuff just wasn’t my jam. This definitely pushed beyond steamy romance into the naughty zone, and all the sexy-time stuff was just not appealing to me. Like, for the romance/steam scenes, this is a zero for me, but I did like the author’s world-building. I was super on board with this book until it became exhibitionism and humiliation.

I don’t object to Reading about the ridiculous treatment of women in these stories. It’s what is advertised. But I prefer an interesting story where the women triumph in the end. This was a cookie cutter story if ever I read one. Ho Hum

I stumbled upon this Lady and the Tramp retelling & was instantly sold. Didn't really look too much more into beyond that fact that it was a novella. (So I was only up until 2am reading)

This story is London based, historical romance erotica. Tropes/themes present are age gap (younger FMC x older MMC), innocent virgin x notorious gambling hell owner, cruel guardian x runaway ward, and insta-lust/obsession.

Kinks: Pet play w/ leashes, crawling, & public nudity/voyeurism. Spanking as punishment for disobedience, & praise for good behavior.

The above is a lot for a short book, but honestly it worked so well. The Tramp was possessive & protective of his Lady, wanting to show her off but others aren't allowed to touch.

In the beginning she is understandably warry of this man who saved her off the street, but she feels wanted by his possessiveness & attention. She learns to be to trust him & enjoy their play.

Seeing so many of the original movie beats played out in different ways was great for me. And I hated these bratty twins girls in the place of the siamese cats just as much as I hated the cats as a child.

CW/TW: Neglect/torment from guardians, dub con, forced nudity, no contraceptives.

Questions and redundancies

I liked the story, although the whole “pet” kink isn’t my thing. But, hey, if you like it... you do you. I was left wondering about certain things. Like, how did they bathe because that was a ton of sex with no cleaning up. Also, pregnancy. There was no birth control then and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want a child growing up in that environment. As for as redundancies, both characters kept bringing up all the same worries over and over again. And the girl’s wonder at how she could like the things that he was doing to her. She repeated that inner dialogue many, many times. Once or twice, fine. More than that and it’s annoying. I gave it 3 stars because despite those things I still read the whole novel, which says a lot. You may like it more than I did.

The Lady - 5 Stars!

Henry, The Tramp and his pet, Lady Delilah’s story was the reason I started reading this series! This one kept me captivated throughout the entire story. It has heat and chemistry through the roof, laugh out loud moments and points where you want to reach through the tablet and smack a side character. Golden Angel has brought us another enchanting must read!

The h is young when she's left with a family who bully her. She runs away and is taken in by a older man who runs a club in the slums. I liked their steamy scenes, I didn't believe they had a good future. He was in control and she just waited for his attention.

The Tramp’s Lady...

This book was based partly on the fairytale Lady and the Tramp but wowsers this is definitely way way more darker than that....
Set in regency London Lady Delilah life has gone from happy and brightness in her first season as a debutante to miserable when her benefactor places her in a relatives care. But she runs away after a disagreement straight in to the Warrens of London and into The Tramp’s territory and under his protection.
This book was fast paced and with elements of pet play involved, made this book hard to put down...

What a delightful take on Lady and The Tramp! It’s definitely not what you would remember the story being, it’s so much better! Lady Delilah after being made a promise that was broken, runs away and unknowingly into the arms of Henry aka The Tramp. Henry is not one for relationships, he is to busy running his business, but there is something about Delilah that he becomes affected by. Delilah and Henry are such great characters. Their chemistry is also quite sizzling, to say the least.

When trouble comes their way, Henry will do whatever it takes to protect Delilah. Could he be falling for her? Can Delilah possibly fall in love with a man like Henry? This story is full of lust and love and was a completely enjoyable read!

Lady and The Tramp reimagined.
Wow I loved this read. An amazing story that had me engrossed.
The characters are real and gritty. The plot full of depth and detail.
Delilah is nieve and full of herself when we first meet her, but her circumstances change and when the chance to do something occurs she makes the best of her new situation.
The Tramp is everything you would want him to be. Rough, gruff and sinful.
What more could a lady want.
I loved this book and highly recommend it.

Exquisitely written! A must read!

This has been a long awaited book by Golden Angel fans and as always she hasn't disappointed!

The Lady is loosely written around the story of The Lady and The Tramp. But obviously these are people not dogs! 😂 Angel has done a very masterful job (in my humble opinion) of bringing to life the story and incorporating our favourite kinks spanking, pet play, anal sex and a few others but also writing a wonderful romance story! The whole package is full of drama, humour, thrills and spills that will keep you reading until the very end!

Of course this type of writing is typical for Golden Angel so if this is your first encounter with her you simply must check out all her other work!

Well done Angel and thank you!! 💋 I can't wait for your next work of art!

Happy reading everyone!

The Lady is Golden Angel's retelling of The Lady and the Tramp and, lets just say, it is vastly different from the Disney version. Ms. Angel adds her usual steamy flair to an old favorite and it certainly worked for me. This story is not heavy on the plot but rather focuses on the realtionship between lady Delilah and the king of London's criminal underbelly Henry (the Tramp). Henry claims Delilah as his pet after rescuing her from a perilous situation and thus commences a highly erotic affair. This book is quite short, much like the others in the collection, but definitely worth a read if you are looking for a bit of naughty fun with a swoony alpha criminal and a demure Victorian lady.

I loved this take of the lady and the tramp! I love how domineering the tramp is with the lady. He is over the top alpha but he never does something that she does not want. He takes care of her and shows her what she truly wants and that it’s ok to want it. This book is hot!

“Mine to touch. Mine to show off if I so desire. Now, be a good girl and be still.” Turning his head in the direction of his door, he raised his voice. “Come in.”

This is a dirty and oo so good book!

So well written! Loved this story!

I am not into pet play, but I absolutely loved this story! I understood exactly why the characters enjoyed their kink, and since it was all consensual it was very enjoyable to read. I especially enjoyed the Lady and the Tramp references from the Disney movie and how Golden Angel turned it into an erotic tale that made sense for people. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I started this, but it was great and I loved it!

Wow!! This book delivered everything I expected and so much more. I really enjoyed this read. This book provides a fresh, dark and steamy twist on the Lady and The Tramp story. Trust me when I say that after enjoying this book you will never be able to look at the movie the same way again. Delilah and Henry make quite the pair. They easily sneak into your heart, while raising your temperature. I admit to being a bit surprised at how well this story adapted into something much more adult and if I may say so sinfully delicious. I am electing to post a candid review.

I certainly enjoyed this "Dirty Hero!"

Henry's ulterior motive in keeping Delilah safe may not be entirely altruistic. Spotting her in Hyde Park had certainly piqued his interest, even if it was only due to the pink she was wearing, or was it?

I loved the scene where he rescues her in the Warren and carries her to his Hell!

Easy to read in one sitting.

Wonderfully dirty!

If you've read ANY of Golden Angel's books, then you know to expect a fair amount of domestic discipline and at least a few scenes with butt stuff and my goodness, this one is filled to the brim, pun intended. Her Cinderella-like story is remarkably told with all the drama, angst, and chemistry that flairs between a hero and heroine. This has to be one of my favorites in "The Dirty Heroes Collection". I absolutely loved it.
