Audio love. This series is great. I can’t wait for the last instalment.

Mona’s original plan was to find a magic book but needed help from a vampire. That vampire is now not talking to her and she wants to make amends more than anything.

Will the pieces start to fall into place in this second instalment and could there be consequences to getting what you thought you wanted.

Loved it. *ARC given in exchange for an honest review. I’m a Laura Greenwood groupie and will happily admit I’m hooked on her books.

When I discovered that the other read I had planned for today was only a short one I smiled because I realized that it meant that I would also have time to dive into the second book in this series. I really enjoyed reading the first one yesterday and I was quite happy that I grabbed arcs for the complete series from BookSprout. I was therefore quite excited to continue the story.

It's amazing how well Greenwood manages to write this relationship mess without it becoming annoying. I understand why Daphne makes some choices. I understand why she's a little hesitating when it comes to really opening up about her conflicted feelings. And although I therefore shake my head quite often, I forgive her just as easily.

Daphne has something endearing. For some reason I can't be mad with her and I can't be annoyed with her. She might also be even slightly naive. It's quite clear that all those feelings are new to her, that she has no idea how to deal with everything, that she's simply following her instinct, without realizing that it might be wrong.

However, she's never unfair. She might be faking a relationship to get to Heath, but when it comes to the other two guys she's completely honest about what she wants. And she's already learning that it's that honesty that will get her very far! I can't wait to see how everything will end in the last book in the series and I'm already excited about the extra novella!

After reading the first book Catching a Vampire, I dove right into book 2. The ending of book 1 made me curious to see how things would progress. In Catching a Wizard main character Daphne is trying to win back Heath, who after a misunderstanding isn't speaking to her anymore. Then there are two other boys who are interested in her as well and the family spell they're looking for.

Just like the first book it's a fast spaced smooth read. There is a bit of teenage drama with the multiple possible romances and guys who are interested in Daphne, but I found it felt realistic and wasn't too much. I also liked how Daphne handled it all, never leading any of the guys on and being honest with them about where they stood, I liked that.

It was interesting to see the search continue for the spell they're looking, there is an interesting twist related to that at the end and I am curious to see how that gets resolved. The ending is kinda abrupt again and I would advice to just pick up the box set as so far the series reads more like one long book. The endings each time do make me curious for the next book, so that part is definitely working.

I was surprised there wasn't much about the teacher in book 1 that seemed to have taken a strong dislike to Daphne as I thought there would be something up with that, but maybe that gets revealed in book 3.

I like Daphne as main character and how she handled everything thrown her way. I like how her behavior feels mature even though she's a teenager and I liked how she handled things. It was fun to see the romances develop. It's still not a harem and while Daphne is interested in all 3 guys, she makes it clear she only has eyes romantically for Heath at this time. I liked seeing a bit more of the two other guys. I still didn't like Cade, he's only jealous so far and I don't feel like I have a good idea of him. There are some scenes with Bradley and I liked getting to know him better.

To summarize: This was a solid sequel. I liked seeing how everything progressed, from the spell they're looking for to Daphne's love life. I like how Daphne is clear with the guys where they stand with her and doesn't lead them on. This book does show her connection with the two other guys a bit more. I liked seeing a bit more of Bradley as well as seeing how Daphne tried to win Heath back. I am not a fan of Cade so far as he's mostly jealous and we haven't seen much of him besides that. There are some interesting developments with the spell they're looking for and the book ends in the middle of things in a way that makes me curious for book 3.

I love reverse harem books. Although this book is not as steamy as my normal read, not many of Laura Greenwood's books are, I was still able to fall into the story and characters and had a great enjoyment while reading this book. While Daphne is trying to heal because Heath is mad at her, she stilll has to deal with two other possible romances and also deal with her brother's problem. This was a great story that I got completely involved in and did not want to put it down. Now I can't wait for the next story. I love the Laura Greenwood series!

I enjoyed this book. Teens and young adults will love this story. Daphne is hurting because Heath found out about what Ryan wants her to do. Ryan still wants her to get a vampire to bring them to the vampire library. She is still struggling with Cade and Bradley liking her. Will she get Heath to understand? What will she do with her feelings for Cade and Bradley? What would happen if she did get someone to bring her to the library? Will they find the spell? Will they get caught if they do? Can't wait to read the next book.

This is the second book in the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs Series and we continue to watch as Daphne tries to find a way to keep going if she wants to stay at the academy. After the problems that showed up in the first book we watch as Heath is still not speaking to Daphne and her brother is still pushing for her to find the spell. Lets just say you need to prepare for a funny ending to this book and then will want to start reading the next book in the series immediately.

Catching A Wizard by Laura Greenwood is the second book in the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs and I’m really loving this series.

Daphne is a fun and intelligent character to read, and I love the slow developing relationships through this series with Heath, Cade and Bradley. Plus the added bonus of the linkage with the Grimalkin Academy: Kittens series.

Yet more paranormal drama

I was firstly so happy to see that the Grimalkin Academy books run parallel to each other, as it makes it so much easier to follow (I’ve heard that timelines and planning help a lot!). So there are no spoilers in Mona’s story, as long as you have also been keeping up to date with the progress on that side, too. Any spoilers to be found are minor, anyway, so it shouldn’t spoil reading either way.

Anyway, we are here about Daphne, who is struggling with a troublesome vampire and two warlocks. Suddenly she’s not only caught in the middle of three men after her attention (well, the vampire needs some convincing), but also has to contend with her brother’s continued pressure to find this damned spell!

And, typical for this gang, things aren’t going to go quite as planned…

Final rating: ★★★★☆ – Really liked

- Academia/Magic University
- Witches, Warlock and Vampires (oh my)
- Slow burn
- Low Heat
- Magic gone awry
- Brother's best friend
- Childhood sweetheart
- Fake dating
- Why Choose/Reverse Harem
- Cliffhanger (I should just assume this is going to happen in every one of her books at this point)

After Emma snitched on her to Heath, Daphne is heartbroken and over boys for the rest of the foreseeable future. But Cade and Bradley aren't getting the message. And neither is Ryan, who has decided that she still needs to find them another vampire to find the family spell. Great.

We left off with Health basically breaking up with Daphne, and we are now weeks later and she likes to pretend she's over him. But she's not. Unfortunately other dudes, Cade and Bradley, seem to be extra into her. And after seeing Emma hanging all over Heath in the cafeteria, Daphne breaks down, just to have Cade rescue her and help her find a way to talk to and fix things with Heath. Which leads to her being stupid and blurting out that she is dating Bradley...enter the fake dating. It's a mess and I am here for it. But it all comes into Heath agreeing to help Daphne and Ryan into the vampire library to find the family spell that will allow the twins to turn into cats.

Last year was the first time I had ever really read spicy books, and I read a lot of them last year. So coming into this year knowing I wanted to do a backlog challenge I knew I wanted to do this author because I knew many of her books are low heat. I will repeat this in the reviews over and over probably, but I love the low heat of these books. The romance is so sweet, and so low pressure, it's been nice little breaks from all the "kissing" books, as my tiny human now describes my pepper ratings in my book journal. Having a why choose with low heat that's also slow burn has been perfection. And this why choose is a little different from many I have read, it's definitely more of a poly dynamic than a harem thing, which is fun too.

They do find the spell (whoot) and it does go awry! But only for Daphne. Maybe that's what Ryan meant it was cursed. Darn it. It's super cute kind of awry though...I would kill to have a kitty tail...just saying.

I had to think about what I wanted to write because once again Laura Greenwood has taken a series in a direction I did not expect it to go. (laugh) Imagine that an author with tricks up their sleeve?

Catching a Wizard is all about the chase, but not so much for a wizard, but for that elusive thing: someone else’s answers. People are keeping secrets from Daphne including those that are close to her. Daphne is building a long list of questions and we all know how Daphne can get when she starts poking her nose into things.

Greenwood keeps everyone on track regarding the various mysteries in the series. I just say remember the ones still unsolved from Vampire because Greenwood did not address those in Wizard. (laugh) Greenwood is a writer who knows how to keep a reader hooked.

See y’all in the halls of Grimalkin...or deep within the Catacombs.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

This was a fantastic continuation of the catacombs series which sees Daphne try to get over her hurt.
Heath is rightly upset by finding out about why she really needed his companionship.
Things seem to get much more complicated between Daphne and the three boys who want to be with her.
Will this spell be everything they wanted it to be?

The second book in this series is just as enchanting and is made for binge reading.
I enjoyed the fact that certain misunderstandings are fixed within this book and a specific vampire won't be happy.
This brings out the teenager in me and has me longing for school days of crushes and bad behaviour.

Catching a Wizard by Laura Greenwood is a slow burn reverse harem academy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kate Richardson. This is the second book in the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs series.

I just love Laura’s books. They always leave me begging for more. The Story does end on a cliffhanger, but that was no surprise since it is part of a series. I can’t wait for the third book Catching a Warlock to be released on audible.

Kate did a great job on the narration. I loved that she used different voice/tones for each character. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of her work in the future.

This is a cute story but is seems more like a few chapters in a book versus an actual second in a series. Nothing is really accomplished to further the arc and while Heath finally gets to hear the story of what was really happening nothing further goes with it. Overall I was left feeling as if I had somehow only downloaded part of the book and while I don’t mind paying for books, $2.99 for book so short and unfulfilling seems a bit much. I don’t know that I will read the next one as the second did nothing to endear then characters to me at all.

As the second installment of the series, Catching a Wizard is a short quick read. I feel like that author could have either made the the installments into one full length book. Or made each book into a full length book. There is plenty of story that could be told that the reader just kin of has to fill in on our own. That being said I really like the story line and the characters. They give me some good laughs and feels. Just wish for more depth in the storyline to fill in spaces of time.

I’m not entirely sure where the catching a wizard comes into play here. It’s more like using a wizard to try and fix what broke between herself and Heath. The quest for the family spellbook continues and has some unexpected consequences some bad and maybe some good too.
There is a time jump here between books one and two. Also references to events I’m guessing happen in the other Grimalkin books which is somewhat frustrating. I enjoyed book one much more than two.

Daphne makes up with Heath however in the process ends up telling him she has a boyfriend, now she needs to find a fake boyfriend to save face. Heath offers to take her and Ryan to the vampires library and they take him up on the offer. They end up with a surprise in the end. I am interested in seeing how Daphne is going to deal with Cliff, Bradley and Heath. This book was a quick read and I would recommend this book and series.. Daphne returns heartbroken because of what happen last semester. It has been weeks since Heath last talked to her. She also has to deal with Cade's Confession last term and Bradley wanting to get together. During a incident Cade takes her back to her room and tells her to tell Heath everything and she does. And he decides to help her. Between Ryan making her look for that spell and Heath, Cade, and Bradley and the relationships with them she is looking to have a very busy year.

I really enjoyed this book, the plot focuses on a mysterious hunt for a missing family spell, and the plans of twins Daphne and Ryan to find it. Obviously this isn't plain sailing, and Daphne's already run into trouble from Ryan's games, alienating potential love Heath. The hijinks kept me engrossed to the end and loving every moment, and sad when I finished all too soon, I can't wait for the next book, hopefully with the same fantastic narrator Kate Richardson.

I really enjoyed the fantasy mixed with a love triangle. Daphne is dealing with three guys and pushy brother. Heath is not talking to her, and they are assigned partners for a project. He will only communicate by email. She is keeping Cade at a distance after he told her how he feels. Will she figure things out with guys?

Daphne is sad that Heath only has half the story about why she was dating him. Will he ever let her explain? Will she and her brother ever find their family’s spell book in the Catacombs and the cat spell?

This one was a really fun story. The characters are easy to like, and you just have to cheer for your favorite guy (or all 3). I think anyone that likes a fast paranormal read will love this series.. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this continuation of Daphne’s story. Things are getting more complicated as she navigates things with Heath, Cade and Bradley. Catching a Wizard

Ok, now we get to see Daphne have the troubles. Ryan didn't give her a reason why she had to go to the vampire library until they were there. At least these twins found the spell they were looking for. Can't wait to find out what happens next. Great job Laura! I would recommend this book!

Great

I'm really enjoying reading Daphne's story. I really like her character and I'm intrigued by the turning into a cat spell.
I really enjoy the writing style it's easy to follow and I just get trapped in the storyline. The descriptions are really good for creating the imagery in my mind and I can picture it all as I'm reading. I can't wait to read more .

Nice book

There are many books I didn't read to the end. I finish this book easily so it deserve five stars. The world building is weak like in the first book. We don't know Howe the characters look and even the vampire library isn't describe well.
