Country Cottage Mysteries #14

A Winter Tail of Woe

Rate this book
An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premier destination for murder.
***Includes RECIPE
My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds—not every mind, not every time but most of the time and believe me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

It’s a snowy winter in Cider Cove and a show called Mayhem, Baking, and Murder is taping an episode at the inn with me as the guest host. But before we could dive into the deep end of all things homicide, the host drops dead and I have a feeling I’m watching a homicide play out in real time. I’m not wrong. But a shocking twist lands this case on its ear and suddenly it becomes the most dangerous homicide I’ve investigated to date.
It’s winter in Cider Cove. A chill is in the air and so is murder.
Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.

The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.

A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, USA TODAY Bestseller Bellamy Bloom.

I just don't know how to adequately express my love of this series. I first fell in love with Addison Moore's work back when I read the 3AM series. While this series is different it is no less beloved by me. The characters, the mystery, it just gets me every time I read a new book in the series. It's exciting to read and keeps me interested from beginning to end. I have a lot of fun with these characters and can't wait to see what these authors brings to life next. Well done to the authors on a job well done.

Same mysteries different day. There needs to be some movement in a different direction (positive) for the characters, for example, Bizzy needs a brain

Bizzy Baker is going to be part of the internet show Murder, Mayhem, and Baking. This is kind of funny as Bizzy's last name is Baker but she can't cook or bake at all! The good news is that the show's focus on Bizzy is going to be discussing the murders she has recently solved. Bizzy is transmundane and has the telesensual ability to hear the thoughts of people and animals. This has helped her solve murders in the past. The show is being filmed at the Country Cottage Inn that Bizzy owns and manages. Lots of people are there setting up cameras, audio, and doing makeup and baking prep. Bizzy can hear all kinds of thoughts from them, some that are pretty disturbing. Unfortunately an incident occurs and Bizzy is determined to solve it. That night, someone knocks on her door and when she opens it, it changes everything... This book has quite the twist. I think you'll enjoy this cozy mystery and trying to solve the crime as you read along. Love this series!

We are back in a wintery Cider Cove, where Bizzy Baker is a guest on the show Mayhem, Baking, and Murder. Who knew there would be a little bit of baking and an emphasis on murder as the host dies on the set. In addition to owning the Inn, a new husband, a furry cohort, keeping up with her family, and friends, she finds time to sleuth out the case. With some luck, skills, and the ability to read minds she is a force to be reckoned with.
I have to say for being book 14 and the twist that changed the dynamics of how to catch a killer was brilliant. I was hooked and I can not wait for the next trip back to Maine, which is my happy place in reality!

Winter Tail of Woes is the forth-teen book in the Country Cottage series. Country Cottage Mystery series, it is part of a series, but could be read as a stand alone and you would be just fine. This series is about Bizzy, a fun quirky Inn manager that loves her quaint little home town Cider Cove. When is not your normal run of the mill manager when Bizzy was younger and almost drown she gained the ability to read minds. This has been a blessing and a curse.
Bizzy’s sister arranged for vlogger Morgan Buttonwood to come and do her vlog at the inn with her sister and talk about the many murders. Izzy was nervous that the vlog might scare away her visitors. But during the second part of the vlog episode Morgan died. Bizzy once again takes a personal interest in the murder and solving it, even when this one has a twist that she never has had during her investigation. The more she investigates the more she discovers this group of suspects is loaded with secrets. Will Bizzy be able to solve this murder in time or will the killer get away?

Bizzy Baker Wilder could not have a wilder time! Her sister Macy has convinced her to do a cooking show that also wants to highlight the murderous past of the Country Cottage Inn. I'm sure you can guess what happens next. The star of the show, Morgan Buttonwood ends up dead.....or so they think. It turns out her twin sister had taken her place that day. It a mistaken identity murder mystery! Now Bizzy, her crew and the supposed deceased are going to have to work together the find out who killed Morgan's sister thinking it was her. I really enjoyed this book not only for the usual murder mystery and great line up if characters but also the new town of Glimmerspell. Bizzy and the gang have to travel to Glimmerspell to do some investigating. It turns out it is a hub for the supernatural. It sounds down right magical and I hope to see all of our favorite cozy mystery transmundane characters there some time!

An internet promotional video is being shot at the inn and one of the two identical Buttonwood sisters from the Haunted Book Barn in Glimmerspell is murdered. The surviving twin shows up at Bizzy's cottage and tells Bizzy that the sisters had switched places and she was the intended victim.

Georgie and her over-sexed daughter Junie are as annoying as ever. They are given a time slot on the video for the Two Old Broads quilt shop, but Georgie gives everyone "magic brownies" before filming and they are all stoned. Strangely, the video was a hit, Macey and Camilla also barge in on the filming to promote their enterprises.

Ahhh, I finally get to read about Mabel's murder

I'm glad Bizzy is thinking about the Inn too.

When Macy talks her into hosting a podcast at the Inn and the host dies, Bizzy is worried the Inn will suffer a set back. However, when Morgan asks for her help finding her twin sister's killer, Bizzy can't say no. One, she needs to do what she can to boost the Inn 's reputation, but also find justice for Mabel, the sweet woman who died. With her friends help, she'll get to visit Glimmerspell and the Haunted Book store. They'll meet some of the strange residents and get into more trouble, but admittedly, I laughed out loud a few times too.

In this latest edition of Country Cottage Mysteries, Bizzy has to hunt down another murderer, but not every one is who they seem. A popular show is taping an episode at her inn, but the abrupt ending has an unforeseeable plot twist. It's another gathering of the minds with Bizzy, Jasper, and the usual family and friends, along with some help from the furry family to unravel the clues and solve this murder. The crazy capers that ensue will just draw you in to Cider Cove. Will the duplicity being feigned help discover who the killer is, or will Bizzy become the next victim?

A fabulous story that connects books in many series written by this author.

I loved this book because it explained stories that I had read in other series by this author. Besides being a good murder mystery I love that Buddy can read animal minds along with suspects minds. I know I am not willing to understand others thoughts and boy am I glad for that. It would be harsh to know what others were thinking about all the time. Too much information is not a good thing unless it helps solve murders.

Nothing like being a guest host on a show and the host dropping dead at her inn. Now she's on the hunt to solve this mystery with her great sleuthing companions Sherlock Bones and Fish. Another great mystery in this series.

If you can fall into it...

Bizzy can t even be nice without having people drop dead around her. Luckily with family, friends and the fur babies, they have a good time solving the whodunit. At the end there is a very pleasant surprise. And the cookie recipe is always a great ending. Thank you for a very enjoyable story. Now on to Book 15.

Really loved this.

This is the best yet of this series. The characters have become more and more believable; the animals more adorable; the humor more laugh out loud funny plus a fun surprise after the murder is solved. I, for one, can scarcely wait for the next one!

Bizzy Baker Wilder is set to be a guest on Mayhem, Baking, and Murder. Unfortunately a murder is exactly what happened. She can't help but try to solve another one. Especially after the surprise guest shows up at her door asking for her help!
