Okay so I was actually kind of bamboozled into reading this book. The blurb didn't clarify, but the h did indeed have a normal though short marriage with H's identical twin brother. She also has a 4 year old son from another relationship - I can't say who with, as I skim-read this after realizing the whole sloppy seconds from twin brother scenario.
I genuinely felt bad for the H - He feels intense pain when his twin dies and only pretends to be his dead twin to find out who murdered him. Of course he falls in deep passionate love with the h, which he tries ALOT to avoid, but they end up consummating this new love (the h still doesn't know he is actually her BIL and that her legal husband has died). This was the 2nd ick factor for me: making love under a false identity but the author made it work tbh. The book then veers off into major suspense mode as the H is a CIA agent against whom the actual sabotage plan had been made, and anyway they find out who was behind it and after a whole lot of suffering and action sequences the H and h make it together, and mourn the lost twin together. The h loved the twin initially, and now loves the H even more deeply and truly, with another baby on the way. HEA.
