Major St. Claire had his eyes set on Selah Winston almost immediately. Since meeting her at his brother’s wedding, he felt the sparks that jumpstarted his dormant heart. The connection was instant and undeniable. Whenever he’s near Selah, he feels a sense of home and security. He knows Selah is feeling him too, but she denies their connection and insists she has nothing to offer him but friendship. She’s busy rebuilding her life after struggling with drugs, depression and family issues. She has no time for anything or anyone else.
Or so she thinks. She doesn’t know how persistent St. Claire men can be, apparently…
Major ‘somewhat’ concedes to her request. He’ll give her friendship (for now), a little bit of space (for now) but it doesn’t thwart his original goal to make her his woman. Everyone has family issues. He knows that all too well. From his perspective, the best way to handle them is to work as a team to help each other overcome their problems. In helping her, he may have found the remedy to his own complications and a new beginning he never saw coming.

I enjoyed Major and Sahlah’s story so very much. My heart went out to Major because of his determination to win her heart in spite of her struggles However It was Sahlah’s “Major” Love for him and his struggles that really cemented the relationship I found myself laughing as Major started showing how much he was like his two older Brothers Magnum and Monty ( not to mention his four cousins) when it comes to getting the women he wants. No is not an option when a The St.Clair man decides he’s in love with a woman. I hope that one day there will be books about the twin brothers and sister that was talked about in books 6&7. I would really like to see how the alpha Female In the family rolls when it comes to love. I only gave the book 4 stars because I was hoping for an epilogue where Major and his brothers got to meet their other siblings.. I really enjoyed this whole series
Ok so I’m torn how to rate this. First I say I love major. In all the stories he’s funny and I just real dig his personality. In this book so much of the personality I love about him was still there, I just got a deeper side to him. He was always jolly and full of fun but it turns out a lot of those times he was like smile of a clown, it was just a facade. That breaks my heart for him.
Selah had a lot of problems but for most of the book she was hella insecure. This drove me nuts
My problem with this book is it didn’t hold my attention all the time. I kind of got bored with it. It could be I felt there were some repetitive parts and so I zoned out. But Major and Selah had a few convos over and over. I think lack of keeping my interest is why ill give it a 3.
Random thoughts as I read: I think Shelah could’ve put in more effort for the job interview. It was at 11am the next day. Get some appropriate clothes girl.
What’s a charcuterie board?” “You’ve never heard of that?” “No. I don’t speak boujee.”😂😂
Shelba is a decrepit bitch
Yes major, cape for your girl bc Shelby needs to be put in her place
Ok major Is bugging on this first day of work thing. I know it’s bc he missed her but simmer down son
I remember not liking Monty all that much in his book. Still don’t.
Does Selah even have a passport to be leaving the country?
I thought it was so sweet that Major wanted to honor the promise she made to herself, even when she was willing to change it.
I can’t believe the first house still available since kimmie viewed it with several other people that same day. And that was a while ago.
My opinions of Monty and Shelby changed a little towards the end but I can take them or leave the,.
So happy Major and Selah got their HEA. They deserved it
It’s been fun learning about the St. Claire clan. Seems like there will be at least 3 more of them
Major was a seemingly jovial, carefree, fun, kind man with a finer than wine exterior. He also came across as restless. He was eager for his next phase in life as he saw his brothers moving forward and finding joy in life. When he met Selah, he knew that she would help him achieve those next steps.
Selah was a work in progress. She was a recovering drug addict that had wasted years of her life trying to the numb the pain of the loss in her life. Selah was so sweet, caring, mild mannered and beautiful despite her scars. She had led a rough lifr and couldn't fathom why Major was interested in her.
This story was so interesting because Major was layered, as most people are, but his stark personality change caught me off guard. It also reminded me how you never know what someone may be going through. It also helped me understand the connection he felt with Selah. I felt like he could have and should have been more transparent with Selah about his own struggles, especially because she was a fragile soul. Selah did have a fiery spirit though and I was rooting for them as they waded through this quick love they experienced.
The ending was predictable, but I was happy for them. I struggled with the secret marriage, because he never asked Selah what she might want. More communication was needed and it felt rushed.
Overall I enjoyed yet another beautiful St. Claire story
Usually, I finish Mrs. Martin's book fast and write my review. But I have been waiting on Major's story for awhile, I decided to take my time and read. I actually had to let my emotions sit awhile before I left my review. This book was so awesome. It pulled on my heartstrings with the interaction between Major and Selah. Major had such a deep connection to Selah and felt compelled not only to help her but to love her through her pain even when she didn't love herself. But the kicker was Major needed her as much as Selah needed him. Major hide his depression well. He suffered from major depression and no one new but his brother and mother. When he had an episode and Selah took care of him, I cried like a baby. Selfless love. Thats what they had. Both were willing to put self aside and love each other through the pain and depression Not only did I take away the beauty of their love but Mrs. Martin touched on depression, mental health. That is a subject that is well kept and people don't like to talk about but Mrs. Martin did it in a brilliant way. Without saying it she also touched on generational curses. Major was adamant that he would not do what his father did to him, Monty and Magnus! Major was a broken man who hid it well but Selah fixed his broken pieces. My heart is full! I loved this book, it was everything I knew it would be. I have alot of favorites from Mrs. Martin's collection but Major has been booted to the number one spot! Please, please , please read this book! Enjoy not only a great love story but also hear about issues that are not easily talked about!
This is a new series that I have really started enjoy. All the books in this series by this author is new to me. But I'm beginning to become a huge fan. Tyla Walker is a awesome storyteller! This series has kept me reading past my bed time and doing the day my reader is in my hands and my nose is deep in the story. I think this is fast becoming one of my favorite series. It has the humor that has me laughing out loud. Also, the story lines with this couples is outstanding. What I enjoy is that its so passionate and the women are strong and independent. Men are protective and panty dropping handsome who will protect their partners to give them loving futures. Plus of course their hot and steamy connections with each other. Every couple has really interesting story lines. They are fast paced, passionate and full of romance. All of the characters are just as awesome. I am happy to enjoy reading this author more than once because all the books in the series so far are intriguing with captivating plots. Along with their sizzling hot passions it has kept me turning pages until the end. I enjoyed every moment of their relationships. The stories are all awesome and each one make it so that you can't stop until the end if you are like myself you will enjoy it because they are all HEA. This is a must read romance series!
I have read all 9 books.... I was all excited when Major dropped. And now I feel a way. I understand that mental is serious abs that money does not bring happiness. I must say I am disappointed in how this book ends. It feels cut off. Selah is in recovery but still battling the guilt of her actions during her addiction. Self esteem on negative zero and not feeling worthy of the attention from Major St Claire. Major’s pursuit of Selah was cute and almost unbelievable. But when he stats he wants her because her brokenness is a challenge to rebuild her I accept it. Then the minute she is stronger he falls apart????!!!!! Their world wind coutstrip and marriage made my head spin. It was almost like manipulation.... so again I’m disappointed it does not live up to the other books, it could have been so much better.
Major was already a friend of mine from his kind heart and the way he treated everyone. His relationship Shiloh solidified his cool points with me. And his acceptance of Selah, even with the truckloads of baggage she carried, Major wanted her anyway. I wanted to shake Selah when she constantly talked negatively about her past situation. Snap out of it Selah, it was over and done, so let it go. Whew! Anyway, Selah finally saw the light and moved into the brightness. It was emotional to watch this relationship blossom. Major, Magnus, and Monty also had a breakthrough with Selah's help. Overall, the story kept me turning pages and loving every single minute. Number seven was spectacular.
I love me some st claire brothers this series is one of my favorite omg where do I even start . I couldn't wait for major story I thought I love me some royal monty but major oweee. This was a very emotional rollercoaster I laughed cried 😄😭♥️. They so needed each other they were mirror images of each other . The way he loved her yesss and her fight for husband during his depression. The scene when monty told about major nearly broke down myself tina tina you put your foot into this stories brilliant you are that why your one of my favorite Arthur yesssss♥️♥️and Shelby I wanted to strangle her at first haha hopefully she find love 😉 and maybe the other brothers and sister get a story let's keep it going love it ♥️ Tina Martin your the best 💞
This book was well written. Good plot. Great character development. But I truly didn’t like it. I just can’t stomach how the character’s drug addictions were romanticized throughout the entire book. It really just made me dislike both main characters. Their entire relationship was codependent and sick. It was “trauma bonding” at its best and it just me sad and angry reading it. But that’s what good books are meant to do, right? They should make you think and feel something. This book definitely did that.
I absolutely plan to read other books by this author. She tells a great story, and I LOVE how much detail she puts into the characters thoughts and actions rather than how they look or what they’re wearing. Well done.
The story of Selah and Major was so uplifting. You never know the story behind the scenes. With Major growing up in a privileged setting, although adopted,m you would think he had all he needed. However; how he wanted answers about his birth parents that caused him so much anxiety to the point of depression. I love his humor throughout the story. Selah, had both parents and way less, but the loss of her mother who she was closest to gave way to her turning to substance abuse. In both cases, they had siblings, who handled, similar their respective family dynamics differently. Selah and Major saved each other.
The book is well written and provides a realistic and in depth exploration of familial drama/issues. This I can truly appreciate alongside the realistic dialogue amongst characters. I’ve read one too many romance novels that don’t really provide a dialogue that is used in today’s reality so this was a breath of fresh air. There aren’t very many intimate scene for this to be a romance novel. As a matter of fact expect to only read about 1-2 occurrences. The intimate scenes leave MUCH to be desired. The author doesn’t really take time to include foreplay and doesn’t provide much steamy details which is sad because the rest of the book is good.
I was actually hoping Selah was not going to be weaved into a story, I didn't care for her character when she was introduced. It has nothing to do with her being a recovering addict, I just knew her inclusion would feel forced and I was right. Her and Major had no chemistry. I understand the author is trying to write clean novels but clean doesn't mean boring and no chemistry. The kissing scenes are way too long; each one doesn't need to be described in such great detail. From the first St. Claire book to this one I think the quality of writing is getting worse. Please work with an editor.
With the exception of a couple background errors this was a good read, if that wasn't the case would have given 5-srars.. Selah battled with the struggle of many women in the world today - insecurity. I believe, just as the author laid out in the book, good love can birth self-confidence. I loved Selah's ability to step up when her man needed her most.. she proved it was not all about her. Actually hope the next book allows crazy Shelby to find love with a St. Claire man (hint, hint)
I really enjoyed Major and Seylah’s story. Major went after what he wanted and helped build Seylah up. They were and still are to broken people able to see past each other’s flaws to love each other. My heart hurt for Seylah when she had nothing in her life to like and Major and his abandonment issues. Through it all turns out Seylah was the rock. I look to see more about this family and how they overcome their issues, that includes Shelby and the boys. If I could find that father.......
Major and Selah couldn't have seemed more different at least on the surface but Major knew they were kindred spirits. Selah literally hit rock bottom but with intervention she replanted herself and blossomed, love and encouraging words helped. They both had flawed family dynamics but communication and full effort go a long way. I'm even rooting for Shelby to get a St Clair hook up too. I've read all the other books in the series and none of them disappointed.
This was by far the best book out of the St Claire series. I loved how Monty never let Selah get down on herself and always encouraged her to want more. It was definitely emotional to see their relationship transition and when she finally accepted his love I was happy like she was my sister. Something told me Monty’s happy go lucky attitude was a cover for his internal trauma and I was happy he had Selah there to return the loyalty he showed her in the beginning. I did wish Major, Monty & Magnus would have been able to connect with their other siblings.
Love the story of Major and Selah. Major was always the funny, wise guy in his brothers' books, but here in this story you get to see that side of him but more of how he really felt about their father putting them in foster care. Those feelings ran deeper than anyone realized. But Selah was just the woman to help him come to terms with that and to see that he had so much to be thankful for. A new brother in Magnus, an uncle, new cousins, Mrs. Sylvia and most importantly Selah herself. Love these handsome, strong St. Claire men. Each of their stories will melt your heart.
Beautiful story of the love shared by two broken people. The old adage hurt people hurt other people did not apply to Major and Selah.
Some people's scars are visible and some invisible, but the exist. I admire the love Major and Selah showed to be an anchor for one another. It was unconditional love at best.
Family dysfunction comes into play and I appreciate the author's handling of the subject. The commitment, love and reciprocity Major and Selah had for one another was beautiful. I enjoyed their journey. Good read!
When I am reading a book and there are series, I wait until I am on the last book to say what is on my mind. I did not want to give a review until I have read all the books but since Book 8 is not out yet, I will say this. I have enjoyed this series immensely. I have read a lot of books and I have to say, this is the best series I have ever read. An awesome job was done writing these books. If I could have given a rating of 10, I would have. Exceptionally done.
This story touched on real life issues and circumstances. Depression is so real and misunderstood by people who have never experienced it personally or by a loved one. Selah was faced with a health issue and to remain drug free which are battles within themselves. Having a love so great and enduring that you are able to fight the fight and win the battle.
Major and Selah....I enjoyed reading their story with all it's little twists and turns. She turned her life around and he falls apart. Both struggling with things from their past. But the love they have for each other is genuine and beautiful. I did get a little frustrated with all that crying Selah was doing though. For any reason whatsoever, she was boo-hooing. But that's all part of reading a good story by a great storyteller.
A love story between two people..Se was living a destructive life before realizing that wasn’t her path in life.. Major grew of privileged but could never get over the fact him and his siblings was abandoned .. There’s a lot of drama between Se and her siblings and Major confronting his Uncle Mason about his brother their Dad..Amazing story of strength and Love.. Great ending
I don't know where to begin, this book pulled on my heartstrings made me tear up made me want to fight Shelby; but all in all you have to know that Major loved Selah with all of his heart. Despite all that they went through in their past they came together to create a beautiful Lasting Love Story. Mrs Tina you did it again.
This story was worth the wait! Major is officially my favorite St. Claire. Major and Selah were amazing together, and I loved how their roles reversed when he needed her. This story was well-written, and it was good to catch up with Magnus and Monty. I would love to read more about Major and Selah soon!
Beautifully written and intense love story of two flawed but loving people. Major and Selah are kindred spirits with parallel life experiences. You will be so engrossed in the family dynamics, their struggle to heal ,and the love of this page turner. I give this emotional and sensual read a five ⭐ review.
I love love this story I think Major is a absolute gentleman and a take charge man I would love to know how Selah pregnancy went and what she had girl or boy or twins I think we need a part 2 to this story I would really like to know more about Major&Selah This was a very good book to read keep up the good work love the book
I enjoyed reading every single page of this novel. Tina you did a great job as usual. You put your all into this. I love Major and selah, they are great together. I love following them on their journey of finding themselves. Keep up the great work. So looking forward to reading more of your work.
This book had my feelings all over the place! I laughed, I cried ... I could not put this book down! Selah and Major went through so much but they really loved each other. They were so good to and for each other! These two are one of my new favorite couples! Loved this book! Great job! 🙂🙂
