For two years, Navy SEAL Leighton “Bird” Nelder has drowned himself in work in an attempt to forget the woman who walked out on him. Fate gives him another shot at happiness when he stumbles across his runaway wife in the last place he expects. What’s even more shocking is the secret she’s kept from him.
Imogene Nelder has always had abandonment issues. Childhood traumas combined with her husband’s dangerous career build her anxiety to a screaming pitch and it becomes too much for her. For her sanity, she walks out on him and their marriage. When she finds out she’s taken a little piece of him with her, the knowledge makes her heart ache less. Two years later she’s stronger and wiser, but will it be enough to cope with a reconciliation?
Everything Leighton has always wanted is within his grasp. But when a serious threat comes after his family, he will have to use his specialized skillset to keep them safe. He let his wife slip through his fingers once, but not this time.
USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.
On her first school report her teacher noted "Nicole likes to tell her own stories". It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.
Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.
Ok...this is kind of in the world of Susan Stoker's books, but kind of not. They write for the same publisher and Ms. Stoker gave her permission to use this world. Now Ms. Flockton does a great job creating her own team with just a glimpse of Rocco's team.
Imogene leaves Leighton while he's on a mission, and he comes home not knowing what happened. Years later there is a chance meeting, and Leighton isn't letting her get away again. Lots of drama, sexy times, and a nasty from her past comes to try and steal her away.
Saving Imogene: Specialist Forces: Operation Alpha: SEAL Team Tango Book 1 is by Nicole Flockton. Just a fun book for summer reading. Nicole does a great job in her research for SEAL teams. Susan Stoker gave Nicole permission to use some of her characters sin the book and Nicole does a great job of writing to the standards that Susan set in her series of books. Imogene married Leighton “Bird” Nelder before he became a SEAL; but she supported him in every way possible. She was from a very dysfunctional family and her Mother, especially, continually told her she wasn’t good enough for whatever she wanted to do. When she found herself pregnant, her reaction to new hormones acted differently on her than others. She began to become paranoid that she wasn’t good enough for Leighton and wouldn’t be a good mother to her baby, after all she had no model to follow. When he went on a mission that lasted almost two months, longer than expected, she left him. She intended to tell him where she was; but never had the nerve to make that call. She never told him about the baby. As a single mother, she struggled; but finally got herself into a position where she was making it. She did tell her daughter about her Father and kept his picture by her crib. Bird didn’t know what to do when he came home to an empty house. He felt she needed time and would return so he didn’t go searching for her. He spent the next two years in limbo but still missing his wife. He took some time off to visit his brother in San Antonio and at a firefighters’ picnic, a toddler ran into him. When he picked her up to keep her from falling, she looked at him and said, “Dadda”. She looked just like him so he knew immediately she was his. Sure enough, Imogene was right there. Now would he get answers?
I really enjoy getting to read stories like this, set in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha Fan-Fiction world. Who is Leighton Nelder? Why is he called 'Bird'? Who is 'Spider'? Where do we find them and why? Who is Imogene? What do we learn about her? Who is Brent? Why does Leighton get so mad at him? Oh, Layla stole my heart in this story! Whom are the weird phone calls coming from? I did not expect what I learned! I cannot wait to read more books like this! Enjoy the read!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
They were an insta-family with Layla stealing the show. She’s such a cutie, who from the start, had her daddy wrapped around her little finger. I will admit I had some concerns when it came to Imogene but in the end she’s really a good person who messed up and knows it. I do wish there was a bit more groveling but overall it’s a pretty good start to a new series. Especially with the little snippet/teaser we get at the end regarding Fort and his mystery woman. Wow!! I can’t wait to see how that plays out.
3.5 stars from me. The plot was a little thin and the twist was a little too out of left field for me. Quick fun read though, with likable characters that I want to read more about. I’ll probably continue with the series.
Fall has arrived and it’s that season for blankets, bonfires, and all things cozy. And that’s the feelings you get when reading Saving Imogene. The first book in Nicole Flocton’s new Seal Team Tango series. Here’s why…
Saving Imogene is the story of Leighton “Bird” Nelder and his wife Imogene. Now at the beginning of the story, the relationship between these two is rocky at best. And there are reasons behind that (no I’m not going to tell you what they are...you need to read the book). Think of those first cool days after summer has finished, where you need to find a jacket and scarf because the temperature is cooler. That’s Leighton and Imogene at this point. But then you remember you can stop at the coffee shop and get your favorite hot drink (you know the one I’m talking about...all things Pumpkin Spice). And that warm fuzzy feeling starts to build…
With great dialogue and wonderful characters, Ms. Flockton begins building those feelings in the reader. Leighton and Imogene both have to deal with not only their own issues putting their relationship back on track but outside forces who don’t want to see these two happy. As this book is also intertwined in the Susan Stoker Special Forces World, the reader gets to visit with some much-loved characters from Ms. Stoker's world. More gooey goodness!
So there you have it. All the reasons why this book is nothing but warm fuzzy coziness that will leave the reader satisfied and happy. You know, that feeling you have after finishing that favorite drink. Or being able to dig out that big fuzzy comfy sweater. Or cuddling up under the softest throw and enjoying a good book. This is that book. So settle in and get ready to go on Leighton and Imogene’s journey. And you can bet I'm excited about the other Seal Team member’s stories! With Ms. Flockton's great storytelling ability, I know we are in for a treat!
Another winner from prolific author Nicole Flockton!
This was a fun twist on the usual boy-meets-girl. This was husband-runs-into-missing-wife (with even more surprises than that).
Leighton is a Navy Seal, still reeling from his wife walking out on him 2 years ago. So, to say he is shocked to run into her at a BBQ--in a totally different state than they lived in--is an understatement.
The moment Imogene spots Leighton, she knows she's in trouble. She only left him to begin with, because she couldn't stand it every time he went on a mission and she didn't hear from him for months. Dealing with childhood abandonment issues, she always assumed the worst and the worry drove her out the door and away from him.
But now they're back in each other's lives, and Leighton is more determined than ever to convince her she needs to give him another chance.
It was a good look into the struggles of a military marriage and the strain it has on both partners. While still being funny and sexy as well. Looking forward to more stories from this team, by this author.
Loved this book for showing the difficulties of when mental health issues take over and people do things they normally wouldn’t.
Leighton is a Navy SEAL and comes homes after a mission to find his wife has upped and gone. Two years later at a random picnic miles away he finds Imogene always with something he never expected. Imogene has abandonment issues from childhood and this particular mission took its toll.
I genuinely enjoyed reading how this was dealt with and showed the utmost importance of communication and how important it is too reach out for support. At first I was wondering whether I’d enjoy it because I’m not keen stories where one of the main characters leaves the other but reading the reasons made me rethink.
This is book 1 in the Seal Team Tango Series and what a start to the series. We meet Leighton [Bird] Nedler whose wife Imogene left him 2 years ago because of abandonment issues. When he goes to his brothers to visit he runs into her and meets his daughter for the first time. Can they overcome their past? Can Imogene get over her anxiety and fears of abandonment? When Imogene is taken will Bird get her back so they can have the life the want? Great characters and we see some old favorites.
Saving Imogene: WOW! Fantastic writing and dialog! I loved all the amazing characters! Bird having time of to go see his both was good for him but then he ran in to the one women that left him with no reason and top of that there was a surprise she didn't tell him about and he felt hurt. Now that he has reconnected with Imogene again he want to get to know her better and get answers to his question and get acquainted him Layla. I loved this story!
Always a great read when the book is from Susan Stoker's Special Forces: Operation Alpha. Ms. Flockton is avery talented writer. Always love reading second chance at love stories where Navy Seals find their soul mate but with a little adversity thrown in. Great characters with a great storyline. Can't wait for the next instalment of Seal Team Tango.
This was my first book by this author and I really liked it. I tend to go for strong heroines but I have to admit this author was able to make me fall in love with Imogene and Leighton. I do love books that incorporate children in it. I also loved the cameo appearances of Susan Stokers, SEAL of Protection characters and most of all loved having Tex mentioned even though he wasn't able to help.
An excellent story to ready. Plenty of danger, intrigue and new beginnings. Immy had left Bird (her husband) two years ago. When Bird came home from a mission she was gone and he didn't understand why. Now he's found her again and boy is he in for a surprise. Will they work things out before it's too late? HEA
Leighton met Imogene at a grocery store and they married six months later. Then when he went on an mission and when he got home she had left him. Three years later while visiting his brother a little girl runs into Leighton and calls him DaDa. He looks into her eyes and decides that she is his daughter. Then he sees his wife.
An enjoyable second chance read with a bonus. Leighton runs into his missing wife Imogene, she’s been gone for two long suffering years. Needless to say the spark is still there and Leighton will do what ever it takes to get her back and rebuild the life they once had. Of course the story line has other devious plot twists and turns to round out this read.
This book deals with two people who love each other but her past, his job as a SEAL, and lack of communication get in the way. When they reconnect the book shows how maturity helps the love win out. There is also a really cute toddler involved.
The storyline was a mixture of lost love found ,suspense and drama. The characters were intricate but human and they endeared themselves to me with in the first few chapters. I thoroughly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
