The Slave Bride

Rate this book
Lakshmi is the youngest daughter of poor north-Indian rice growers, who is sold into marriage to a southern Indian. In a fluid and fast-paced prose, Lakshmi's trajectory weaves with disrespect and violence. She is forced to labour eighteen hours a day, give birth to children she did not choose and carry the burden of captivity. Her story may be one in thousands, but Lakshmi will stoically endure her lot up to the time she envisions the opportunity to grab her destiny in her own hands.

Coming from a multicultural family in a multicultural country has its advantages. For one, you learn to appreciate different takes on life and people.
Add to it that I graduated in history with a passion for challenging matters, and you have an author full of stories to tell.
Writing is a demanding job requiring loads of research. And boy, do I love that.
Oh, forgot to say, I am a teacher too. Someone has to put food on the table after all.
Talking of which, cooking is one of my specialties. Well, overcooking, at least. Not to mention the mess in the kitchen. But that's alright. I don't mind the cleaning.
So I'd better stick to the keyboard for safety reasons.
