A fledgling pack struggles to survive during chaotic times, when mates are scarce, and competition is fierce. For there is turmoil in the werewolf community.

These are not your ordinary werewolves...

Jesse Wayne has one objective— find his missing cousin and rescue the poor girl before the Sickness takes them both. So when he discovers a sweet-smelling human in distress, the last thing he should do is take on a ring of kidnappers to get her out. But after only one hint of her scent he knows that’s exactly what he’s going to do. After all, they don’t call him an outlaw for nothing.

He only hopes it won’t spell disaster for all of them. Because little Annabelle is still out there somewhere, and the Sickness is coming for him. He can feel it.

Melissa Bennet has three goals for her trip to Mexico. Help her friend Rosa with her family farm. Put the sustainable farming program she’s just completed to practical use. And prove her mother wrong. Not on that list? Get abducted by human traffickers and then rescued by a handsome stranger.

Helping him find his missing cousin might be a noble cause, but she’s pretty sure she should run the other way, and not look back. Because Jesse Wayne might be the handsomest man she’s ever seen, but there’s just something off about him. And if she ignores it, she’s pretty sure whatever it is will come back to bite her.

The Rabbit River Saga
This series traces the story of the entire Rabbit River Pack as reluctant Alpha Lucas navigates the tricky waters ahead. Somehow, he must uphold the Law, keep his fledgling pack safe and discover a cure for the mysterious Sickness. But what about Mari, the human he found injured in the woods—will he ever manage to gain her trust? Follow this slow burn love affair throughout the series as the rest of the pack finds love. For Lucas must find a way to repair the damage of Mari’s past before he can ever win her heart.

This series combines the magic, humor, and sexy alpha hotness of authors like TS Joyce, Zoe Chant and Terry Bolryder, with the heart pounding action, world building and character development of authors like Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. Fans of werewolf romance, paranormal suspense, paranormal comedy, and romantic fantasy will enjoy this series.

An Action-Packed Shifter Romance!

“Danger. Threat. Mate.”

What a great addition to the Rabbit River Saga! Lone Wolf is intense from the very beginning, even before the main characters meet, and that intensity grows throughout the story.

Jesse Wayne is a sexy sweetheart of a man. Throughout the series, his skills, loyalty, and honor, to say nothing of his sense of humor, have heightened every scene he’s in. He’s also achingly vulnerable, but that doesn’t stop him from doing whatever it takes to protect those he cares about.

When the story opens, Jesse is in Mexico, on a mission to save his younger cousin Annabelle. He ends up saving Melissa, more than once. In fact, they save each other. Melissa is American, a down-to-earth, hard-working farmer – something I personally appreciate – who had eagerly seized an opportunity to improve a good friend’s family farm in Mexico. She’s totally unprepared for drug lords, human trafficking, kidnapping, and murder.

It’s a good thing that Jesse is prepared. And he wants Melissa, needs her. From the first, he recognizes her as his mate. But unless they’re mated, he can’t tell her the truth about himself, about the People – and she has questions. How in the world will he convince her to accept him when she knows he’s holding back?

These two have a lot to deal with. There is a sweet tension between them through much of the story. Melissa, especially, struggles with both fear and longing. Jesse, for his part, is battling the Sickness. Even though he knows that being with his true mate can save him, he doesn't want to force the bond. He loves Melissa. But time is running out.

It’s not just the two of them, either. They have to save Annabelle, and they are dealing with very dangerous men. Lone Wolf is packed with action.

The setting -- Elyce de Reefe’s descriptions of the area – makes everything easy to visualize. We, the readers, are there in the Chiapas.

The slow-burn romance is well-paced and satisfying, culminating in an absolutely delicious Moonrise ceremony.

The heartwarming homecoming is a generous bonus.

This story made me smile and sigh. I look forward to spending more time with the Rabbit River pack and hope the next book comes out soon!

The 6th instalment of the rabbit river series focusing on Jesse.
Sexy strong Jesse is trying to find his cousin 16 year old Annabelle who is missing after being kidnapped but while looking for her he finds much more in Melissa.
Poor indépendant melissa has found herself in a tricky situation but thankfully a sexy nearly makes Jesse is there to help but can she trust this sexy stranger and why the heck is he wandering around the woods naked

These two were so well suited
Jesse who’s all strong and ninja quick and smart is still just looking for acceptance. He’s like a pup trying to find where he belongs and wanting the approval of his family and pack and he’s determined to be the hero. He can’t fail and prove what he thinks everyone thinks of him.

Melissa just wants to a simple rural life but after being kidnapped and her life constantly in danger can she place her trust in the mysterious Jesse even though he could be completely crazy.

I love how each pack member is so different and yet all their personalities compliment each other. The characters are so 3 dimensional it’s hard not to think. Of them as real people.
The story as always was compelling and intriguing without waffling.
There was tense moments and tender moments and a couple of steamy moments.
Once again this author shows her talents and consistency as this world keeps growing.

Lone Wolf was my first Rabbit River novel. Though I took a risk, diving into this series with the sixth installment, I found that Jesse and Melissa's story works well as a standalone. The author orientates even a new reader with a near-perfect amount of context (touching on Pack, The People, Sickness, The Bond, and other aspects of her well-developed paranormal world).

Elyce de Reefe's writing is clean, crisp, and clever, with an excellent balance of action, backstory, description, etc. Rather than tell you that Jesse Wayne is a wolf shifter, she makes you believe it with details like his keen sense of smell and its affect on his impulses. I enjoyed the humor in the hero's inner dialogue. "Keep it together, dog-breath."

I was a little surprised to discover a third point-of-view (Annabelle's) in chapter 8. I think the scene might have worked well (better?) as a prologue. Then there were some allusions to Melissa's past and parents that seemed significant but remained unresolved (maybe left for a subsequent book?).

I thought the wrap-up of the story (summaries of time spent on the cruise, in New Orleans, on the train, etc.) was a bit drawn-out. But Jesse's welcome home (with the whole pack there to greet him) seemed so right for the outlaw/rogue wolf and really emphasized a sense of family within the pack. I imagine the ending (mention of so many familiar characters) was especially gratifying for those who have read the entire series.

I was intrigued by and would be interested to know more regarding the difference between the wolf shifter and "mindless" werewolf.

He's done it now. Got himself in deep water searching, determined to bring her back safe. In the meantime he can be forgiven or helping out the one destined to be his. That is if he can keep it together long enough to make it happen. While she is happy Jesse saved her from the trafficking ring she can't trust someone with so many secrets, after all that's how she got into this mess.

The Rabbit River pack is different and unique and has been a blast getting to know their stories and this one is no different. Filled with tons of action and emotion it's an awesome read. Jesse is fighting the sickness and using his kin sense of smell while fighting to hold it together. There's no rest for the wicked and this author has a great way of drawing you in and keeping you there. I can't wait to see where she takes us now.

Elyce de Reefe's  Lone Wolf is the sixth book in the amazing Rabbit River Saga this series is a phenomenal Paranormal Wolf Shifter Romance that has me caught in its web and I am still begging for more stories from this universe.  The world building, the character development,  the intriguing plots, the sweet, steamy, fun moments.... I am addicted!  There are secrets, suspense, dangers,  action, passion.... I love the interactions between characters, the love and balance and connection.  Jessie and Melissa are actually my favorite couple so far, I just really got swept up in their journey.  I hope to hear more from this pack.

Jesse's story

I liked that Jessie's story doesn't start like the other stories. I liked the mystery and immediate action that happens in the opening scene. Melissa and Jesse's situation was very different from the others who previously found their mates in this series. This helped bring some variation to their story's plot. I liked the action and danger. I felt bad for Jesse and the war he was battling that most had no clue about, but he does get his HEA. Nice addition to the series.

With the recent Moonglow release, which is the finale of this series, and well-equipped with my recent Kindle Unlimited renewal, I waited no more to pick this up. But I am a bit disappointed.

It took way too long for the story to get going and it is the same repeat of mistake and Jesse wasn't different. He was also full of a 'don't ask for permission, just forgiveness' attitude! Melissa deserved so much better, well, he was a perfect gentleman but he could have been a little bit more forthcoming but other than that, it was an okay read.

I was so looking forward to this book since I enjoyed all the other ones in the series a lot, but it didn’t do it for me. Writing is great, but the story line felt out of place in the series. And the main heroine was “meh”. I really loved Jessie in all the other books and felt like his love story didn’t do him justice. :(

Sigh

Really good book. I was so looking forward to Jessie’s book. Not sure it met all my expectations. But it was still really entertaining. Would have loved more interaction with the pack though.

Different setting made this interesting and I liked the h's distrust. The H is working away from the pack and rescues the h, coerces her to stay with him. He then takes down the baddies and saves another girl, his cousin. I really liked the pace and characters - great addition to the series.
