Phillip Meyer is the author of the Medieval Fantasy books Unafraid: Leon's Son and Unafraid: The Last Minotaur. Phillip started writing as a teenager for a hobby, something that snowballed into the creation of his first book. Inspired by the fathers of modern fantasy, C. S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, Phillip blends the traditional fairytale with raw realism. Set in the fantasy world of Athnan, the Unafraid Series transports readers into a world of myth, blended with European medieval culture, and a sprinkle of North American monster folklore. Phillip lives in North Dakota and likes fishing, hunting, sports, listening to music, and dinosaurs. He is deeply committed to his faith, family, and community.
I enjoyed this tale of adventure by a local young author. My expectations when I began reading the book was that it would be immature in writing style, composition and story development. While there may have been a few areas where the author's inexperience was evident, I was quickly drawn into the story, and found myself reaching for the book more than many of the books I have read recently. Kudos to Phillip! Any plans for a sequel?
