The Dachshund Handbook: For Standard & Miniature Dachshunds

Rate this book
There’s no other dog quite like the Dachshund. They are clever, brave, curious, incredibly loyal, affectionate, lively, full of their own importance - & lots of FUN!

They can also be slow to housetrain and (if not properly socialised & trained) somewhat stubborn, noisy, & suspicious of strangers!

This book, part of the Canine Handbooks, Amazon’s No.1 Dog Breed Series, guides you step-by-step through the best methods for raising & training Miniature & Standard Dachshunds from Day 1 to old age.

Do you plan to Get a Dachshund? Do you Already Own a Doxie?

This book is an excellent resource for anyone who is looking to purchase or rescue their first or fourth Dachshund?
Should you get an adult or puppy? And if you already own a Doxie the book gives you tips on how to work out some common problems (e.g. Housebreaking tips) with these at times demanding little Napoleons. It is a really nicely laid out book. There are lots of great photographs. My only disappointment is that they are not in color. But the author show the different sizes, the three varieties (Smooth, Wire, and Longhair), and the many different colors & combinations. The author also describes how to take care of and avoid back injuries. I have many other Dachshund books and this is among the best. It shows why these long short legged dogs with big hearts, big appetites, and big attitudes are so special. As well as, why there is a common thought that like Lay's Chips you can't just have one. I own two :0) and am thinking about acquiring a third.
