I love how Carter started out as a jerk but he really wasn't at all, especially when it came to Jo. Jo was such a strong girl, loved her character. Other than that I didn't really enjoy this book. I feel like the story wasn't enough, there wasn't enough background about either character. It was kinda blahhh for me. Not much to go on. Short and sweet but at the same time it didn't do it for me.

I really liked this book. The summary made it sound a bit cliché, but it ended up being really good. Very sexy. Sweet story. Would def read more by this author

Dissenting opinion here...

First off, this was a kobo freebie and it felt perfect for my smutuary reading list.
It really was, but honestly, I didn't really enjoy this book.

First thing...little things like "You never what's on those things" there's a word missing from this sentence it really bothered me. Context for this sentence: main characters are talking about the unknown things that are hotel room bedsheets. (chapter 15)

Second...there was a lot of times that Jo had a burning desire in womb and I'm starting to wonder if it's actually a medical issue

Third...Jo describes how buff and hunky Carter is and he clearly works out AND THEN IS SOMEHOW SURPRISED THAT HIS APARTMENT ISN'T COVERED IN PIZZA BOXES. Like girl, he did not get ripped from eating pizza 24/7

Fourth...the whole premise of this book was weird. The circumstances and events didn't feel natural to me and I just...I don't know it didn't work for me.

Everything was very convenient in this and...I get that this is a romance but for the main characters who are both VERY against relationships to want a relationship out of nowhere...that's a no for me.

I read this book in order during my "Pretty Broken Series" reading. :) I erroneously thought I needed to read these in order so that I could get the most out of the books and the series. I was wrong. Any of the books in the series can be read as a standalone without a problem

This is Carter and Jo's story. We first met Jo Hollander in Pretty Broken Girl as the sister who runs the coffee shop. In this book, we get a better feel for Jo, although I found myself wishing for more romance between the two of them. The steam ran hot between them, but it was missing something, I'm just not sure what. But that lack of whatever it is, did NOT detract from an interesting story, comical at times, and sad at times too. You know from the title that Carter is a bastard son, but when you meet his parents, you totally understand his attitude towards life and women. I thought the story could have been a little bit tighter in the middle when Jo and Carter spend the most time together, but I can't say it detracted from my reading and enjoyment of the book. I don't want to give away too much of the book because I want to tell readers to READ this and the rest of the series. You won't be disappointed.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "PRETTY BROKEN BASTARD". This was very interesting, entertaining read, engaging, humour, emotional, angst, stalking, out grabs you from beginning to end.
Jo Hollander ibseeses over her ex-Halland so much so she stalks him he has to get a restraing order against her her life is a mess her father is so depressed after his wife dies and her sister has disabilities making her responsible for the coffee shop the bills are piling up.
Carter Ekhouse is a BOUNTY HUNTER ruthless he got his companies from his father that won't claim him he's a Ba*stard son his mother isn't much better he's never felt wanted or loved he's a one done kind of guy with woman until he meets Jo.
I lived the the chemistry between Jo & Carter their chemistry is scorching hot they both have damaged souks bring them together.
I definitely recommend to get this interesting entertaining book it won't disappoint so we'll worth the read the characters were great I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This book started off so well but fell off. I would’ve liked for their relationship to progress in another way but there was way too much going on at the same time and not enough focus on all the things happening.

Their relationship was mainly physical, don’t get me wrong, I like when characters are attracted to each other, but almost every single line or thought was about it which made me roll my eyes. Them falling in love was also rushed considering that they were both against relationships, something was missing there.

Everything with Carter’s family and Jo’s jail situation was tied up quickly and conveniently which was unrealistic. Some other things such as Jo’s relationship with her father were also not resolved or explained, it could’ve been explored more. I expected more from this book.

I like it. He was cocky sexy and successful. He hid all the sweet stuff behind the gruff and sexy remarks and one nighters. When his best friend finds the love of his life he realizes what his missing and has to break his word because suddenly he has found her. The one to bring him to his knees and oh how much fun it will be to get there.

This is my first read by this author. It was fun, sexy and good read with wonderful characters that fit into the story with ease.

I loved Carter and Jo's story. It's about to people that are afraid of relationship, for different reasons. These two are perfect for one another. They are perfect together!
Now that I have finished reading the Pretty Broken Series, I don't know what to do!!!! I am so sad to be finished with this last book!!! I wish that there were more to read!!!!
I absolutely adored this series!!!! I really hope Jeana writes some more in this series! Maybe a spin off. I don't know but I really need more.

Maybe Not So Broken

This book is about Carter. A bad boy bail bondsman who is way more than he apprears. And Jo who is almost an open book just as she appears. Their worlds colide when Carters best friend is seeing Jo's sister. The normal love them and leave them Carter is knocked for a loop with Jo. Lots of twists in this one. Some are expected. Some are not. Well worth a read.

Relatable, Realistic and Romantic

This book will keep you interested from start to finish. Its characters will give you excitement, laughter, humility and humor. I enjoyed the simplistic and heartwarming relationships between Jo, Bronte and her father.. Love and loyalty are key to a lasting bond.

Pretty Broken Bastard

Not bad if you like a lot of sex in the book.. This one also had a pretty good storyline. Even I wanted to break Harold's nose. Taking custody of her dog and letting her have her personal property. However, it's politicians as usual. Having their
pork on the side and getting away with an open secret. If

Another great book in the series. Carter sounds like an absolute dream. Carter is a guy who doesn’t want relationships, one and done. Jo is doing all she can to keep her head above water with everything in her life and job. Great book, definitely recommend

Oooo a prolific author I've never read

Wow, all my boxes are checked. An author who seems to write standalone series, engaging characters, and just that bit of darkness to make everything balance.

Carter is a bondsman and shortly after hooking up with Jo, Josephine Hollander, he receives an order to pick her up for non appearance for a court date. Mildly amusing at times, two people, adverse to relationships, fairly quickly decide to throw that habit over.

The hot attraction Carter and Jo have must take a backseat to the love for their mutual friends.
When Carter is forced to decide between his job and Jo, he realizes this could be his chance at the future he never planned.

Refreshingly Enjoyable

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Two engaging characters afraid of relationships, refreshingly different, funny and sad in parts, but a HEA. You won't be disappointed downloading this book.

Lacked chemistry

Not a bad story. Everything just seemed superficial. I wanted more chemistry between the characters. I did like the story line.

I liked it until I felt that the characters fell in love too quickly. I also thought that some actions on behalf of the female mc were beyond stupid, but what do I know?

The rating is for what it is. A free erotic romance book. Compared to other free romance books it’s pretty good! There was some humor added in which I definitely appreciate.
