I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway some time ago (thank you, St. Martin's Press), but just got around to reading it. Maybe I should have read it long ago, or maybe it came at just the right time, but this is one of the best fitness books my fitness-challenged self has consumed. Freiman's focus on addressing mindset as the main obstacle we face in regards to fitness goals is spot on. Her instructions on calculating caloric needs and macros was clear and concise and felt pretty empowering. If you struggled meeting weight loss or fitness goals or you met those goals over the years only to watch everything go back the way it was, this book will be the pep talk and guide you need to get going. There are no workouts or meal plans included, as this addresses the foundation you need before you can begin building those. It's a realistic approach and seems to be one that someone could actually stick with. Rather than a temporary spike of motivation that will fade once life happens, this book leaves you feeling prepared for accomplishment and lasting change.
well this was a first and will most likely be the last fitness book I'll ever read. Not to mention, the videos and podcasts that are available from her. I got all the answers to all the questions that have plagued me for decades. There were no gimmicks, propagandas, sales pitches and this was different then all the rest combined. no more Don't do this or do that give. I even talked with one of the representatives through a live zoom meeting for free. There was no pressure. Just straight education. Take it or leave it. Thanks Rachel... this is just what I needed
