The battle to determine the next laird comes down to this fierce moment...the Oliphant brothers sitting around, drinking ale, while their wives go into labor.
After finishing his studies to become a doctor, Graham followed the woman he loved to Oliphant Castle and discovered—among other things—that he was not the fatherless, family-less bastard he’d always assumed. Well, he was still a bastard, but now he was an Oliphant bastard; he had a father who loved him and six brothers who cared as fiercely as they fought. He’d found a home.
And he might’ve been happy, had Davina MacKinnon been allowed to share it with him. But her grandfather has never seen him as good enough for her or the future of the MacKinnon clan, and despite her sister’s marriage to one of Graham’s brothers, Davina was dragged away.
But now she’s returned to be with her sister during her confinement, and Graham—being a medical man—has been called back to Oliphant Castle, as well, to help with all the bairns about to be born. Whichever Oliphant wife births the laird’s first grandson will ensure her husband becomes the next laird, so the stakes are high...But none so high as Graham and Davina’s.
Between the bairns popping out left and right (seriously, this is getting ridiculous), they’ve got to find a way to convince her grandfather they deserve to be together. Luckily, there’s a way to distract the old man, and the Ghostly Drummer of Oliphant Castle might just make a comeback...
Warning: Contains anachronistic medical knowledge, rather a lot of madcap hijinks, a few really naughty bits, and more laugh-out-loud moments than you can shake a stick at, were you the kind to shake sticks at things. Check out the grand finale to this hilariously sexy series everyone’s talking about!

Should I read in order? YES. Don’t be like me and dive into book 8 of this series. This one has so much character overlap, and things have already happened with the main couple that might be explained in prior books.
Basic plot: Graham and Davina have been separated, Davina’s grandfather making it clear Graham is not worth her hand in marriage. But now that she’s back to help with her sister’s confinement, they are seeing each other again and it’s just as hot as before.
Give this a try if you want: - Scotland setting - Medium to high steam – 3 scenes within a short page count - Doctor hero - Forbidden love feel – heroine’s grandfather separates hero and heroine instead of allowing them to marry - You love big families and lots of side characters - You want lots of pregnancy and babies - Second chance feel – the hero and heroine have already been in love and shared kisses
My thoughts: So I did end up struggling with this one a bit because it felt like a big epilogue. Being number 8 in the series, this has lots of side characters from the previous books. Also Graham and Davina seem to have a well established history and have been together in physical ways as well (though no penetration yet!). I definitely felt like I was missing a big part of their story/history so I encourage others to read this series in order.
That said, that’s my own fault. I tried to rate this as I felt about it without that aspect to it and I found the humor absolutely delightful, the characters bright and lively with fun personalities. I think I would like this series in order and do plan to come back to it at some point. There was a lot I liked about it, though I think someone should be in the mood for pregnancy and lots of babies when they read this one!
I did like both characters. Graham is a caring doctor that has struggled with his lack of family background. He finds a true home when he’s embraced by the Oliphant family. Davina is sweet and just wants true love her own heart, not what her family can give her husband.
I enjoyed reading Graham and Davina’s love story. The book provided me with humorous antics among the family. I enjoyed the entertainment that was laugh out loud. The book was a easy and fast pace read. The romance was a little steamy, but it made the book all the more good to read. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Do not start this book unless you have time to read to the end, because you won't want to put it down. Hilarious, heartfelt, intriguing and spicy story of Graham (MacVanish) Oliphant and Davina MacKinnon. All the Oliphant brothers have recently wed, and the babies are coming, the babies are coming! Graham has medical training, and is there to help, but the midwife (also expecting a baby) will not let him and Davina's grandfather has denied Graham's request to marry her. What's a guy to do when he's being told no from all angles? Do it anyways, of course. Very satisfying conclusion to this series (could be read as a standalone, but would definitely be better to read the series - you won't regret it). Can't recommend enough.
I can’t say enough good things about this hilarious and sexy series. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever consumed an audiobook series as quickly as I did this one. I finished the first 6 books last month (July 2022) and was almost devastated to find out that I had to wait until August for the final two books. 😘 They were worth the wait!
We met Graham in the previous book when he turned up as another (surprise) bastard Oliphant brother. This story was full of surprises and the miracle that Graham needed for Davina’s grandfather to finally agree to their marriage. I think this was the only book in the series when pre-marital sex didn’t happen. LOL
Seriously, this book did a fantastic job of wrapping up this wonderful series. I’m sorry it had to end.
OMG delightfully funny! I stumbled across this series when I was looking for a shorter historical romance (HR), having just finished a long series of long books (Celtic Brooch). It is the funniest HR series I have done. My only criticism is that only half the series is out in audiobook form. (The rest are due out later this year.) The premise is a Scottish laird needs to name an heir and charges his 6 bastard sons, 3 sets of twins, to marry and have a son to claim the leadership clan. Each Book then follows one illegimate son, or the sole legitimate daughter.
An emotional conclusion to the Oliphant’s story. Graham and Davina have waited for ages to be together. He may never be enough to please her grandfather but he is all that she loves. He is a man of science, a healer of sorts and he will get plenty of opportunity to show her grandfather the kind of man he is. With so many of the Oliphant daughters pregnant and ready to pop, including the midwife, the need for a helping healer abounds. It seemed that all the suspense was saved for this last story and it made for a very compelling conclusion. I truly loved this story.
Yass!!! The ending I wanted! The ending I did see coming, tbh... because Keirgan was going to be Laird one way or the other. The unexpected 7th brother was a delightful, if last minute addition to the craziness that is the Oliphant clan. I am just so glad everyone got a happy ending... and at one point I wasn't sure that was going to happen, or that it wouldn't be a bittersweet thing. After all that happend to get that clan to this point, I can't imagine a more perfect final scene than what was written.
I liked this one, I haven't read previous ones, but I was intrigued by some stories. It was funny and fast read. I was surprised they didn't resent his father for making his plans- who ever first gets the child, he's the leader.
I was thinking that it will be Kieran or Finn, but story has lots of twists and shakes- I liked the ending and happily ever afters.
__________ I know that it happens in Scotland, but I had trouble understanding gaelic phrases.
So this is the wrap up of this series and oh my lord, what a story! This is Graham and Davina's story which was funny, sexy, heartwarming and all the babies being born. I was so happy at who gets to be the Laird of Oliphant Castle. Agatha and Angus are quite the hoot as well. The narrator was perfect.
I enjoyed it. Good storyline and characters. My review of all 8 books, although the first one was quite silly the rest of them were wonderful romances with some laughter and fun and well worth reading. I loved all of them and would highly recommend.
Too Scot to Hold, the 8th and final book in The Hot for Scots series, was about Graham MacVanish Oliphant, a medical doctor and the seventh illegitimate son of Laird William Oliphant, and Davina "Vina" MacKinnon, sister to Katlyn Oliphant and granddaughter to the Laird Angus MacKinnon. Graham, knowing he was illegitimate, had always believed he was without family...until he followed Davina to the Castle Oliphant and realized he was, though still illegitimate, one of the eight children of Laird William Oliphant, who had fallen in love with his mother but had been unaware that she had been pregnant with him. Graham and Vina had fallen in love but her grandfather would not even consider him as a potential suitor for her being as he was the illegitimate grandson of the late Laird MacVanish. When it was revealed he was also the son of the current Laird Oliphant, that did not change the man's opinion of him. When Vina's grandfather spirited her away back to the MacKinnon lands after her sister, Katlyn married Kiergan Oliphant, Graham continued with his medical studies so that he could become a doctor. Having sent letters to Graham over the last seven months and not hearing a word back in response, Vina became depressed and heartbroken, believing that he no longer loved her. Knowing it was getting close to the time for her sister to give birth, she struggled to convince her grandfather to make the trip to be there for Kat's confinement, but eventually, he gave in when he heard that Graham wasn't supposed to be there as well. Upon arriving at Oliphant Castle, they both quickly realized...Graham was there if only to help with the birthing of all the grandbabies. Once they saw each other again, both Graham and Vina realized they still loved one another and so they devised a plan they believed might help them convince her grandfather they belonged together. The storyline was very well written. The plot, with all its twists and turns, definitely kept the reader glued to the pages and eager to find out what would happen next. The emotions were overflowing in this book. The slap-stick humor was, once again, in full force and woven into each paragraph and page. The irreverent jokes, the sexual innuendoes that inundated the book were enough to make the reader sometimes spit out the drink just taken if the jokes came at that time. It was definitely well worth the time it took to read and definitely earned a five-star rating and a place with the other Keeper for the Shelves books. I loved this author and look forward to more of her stories.
Too Scot to Hold, the final book in Caroline Lee’s Hot for Scots series was a joyous tale! With the six brothers married and many of their wives pregnant, who will be the first to give birth to a son. Duncan Oliphant, the doctor found haunting the tunnels in Scot to the Touch has returned to Oliphant castle to spend time with the family he just learned he had, and to assist the healer and midwife if necessary, as she herself is pregnant. Davina MacKinnon has also returned to Oliphant, to be with her sister Katlyn. Duncan had hopes of marrying Davina, but her grandfather doesn’t think he is good enough to be Laird of the MacKinnon clan. So they enlist the help of Aunt Agatha and the ghostly drummer, to help them! Once again author Caroline Lee has woven a tale of pure joy and delight! Her characters are all humorous and lovable, and the story hilarious, with babies popping out everywhere. I particularly love her medieval medical and biblical advice, and laughed uproariously! I hate to see this series end, but with all those kids, perhaps a next generation???
I just can’t even express what a delight this whole series has been, and this final episode was just the cherry on top! Unwanted and unloved and possibly feeling a bit inadequate Graham, a humble doctor, has been waiting for months to hear from Davina, his summer fling, and he’s starting to get the impression that she’s no longer interested. Meanwhile, Davina is steamed because Graham promised to love her forever but she’s stuck alone, braiding her granddad’s beard, and he hasn’t made any attempt to contact her. Once they’re together again at the Oliphant Keep to be with Kat (and the other expectant women) for their confinements, they manage to figure out the root of the problem and then need to convince Laird MacKinnon to give his blessing to make it official. This book was filled with babies, ridiculously funny quips, and sweetly satisfying moments. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to write a review.
This was an absolutely fun story to read and I adore Caroline Lee's way of writing. She keeps the characters so real and you can actually picture them saying what she writes! I'm still giggling at some of the conversations, omigosh, hilarious!!
This is Graham and Davina's story and when they both find themselves back at Oliphant Castle, the attraction is still there and misunderstandings are righted. In between a bunch of babies being born, their passions flare and the need to convince her grandfather that Graham is good enough for her is at the forefront. It takes an accident and some fearful moments to make them all realize how lucky and blessed they are to all have each other.
Well written, a story that will definitely keep your interest from start to end and be prepared to laugh out loud:)
I was given an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
So I have been teased and tricked reading this series. Last book. Graham has through he'll with his mother's family and never felt love. To show emotion you get punished. Davina always knew she was beautiful and nothing more. Her duty to marry the next Laird. Her grandfather doesn't think Graham is worthy enough for his granddaughter because he is a dr. So until Graham thinks he worth and lovable how can he expect someone else to think he is worth. So now comes Graham saving lives and delivering babies to take Davina's grandfather change his mind. This is the most hilarious series I have ever read. I love the inaccuracies and the penis jokes and Lil Liam being himself. The comraderie of the family is infectious. Love it need more of the Oliphants
I Loved It! Last in the series The Hots For Scots, Too Scot to Hold, answer the question who will be next Laird Oliphant. Caroline Lee weaves a story from beginning to end with threads of the bond of family love with appearances from characters from the previous novels. It's a fun romp with clever, witty and funny banters between the different protagonis which will leave you laughing out loud wondering what will happen next. This is a stand alone novel but to really get to know the Oliphant's, six illegitimate sons all born the same year with two sets of twins, and fall in love with each and every one of them. Too Scot to Hold will keep you reading to the very end and wanting their story to continue!
The babies are coming. Several ofvthe Olophant brides are giving birth, including Merewyn, the midwife. In steps Graham another illegitimate son the the Laird. The only physician to be found. Also in love with Davina but her ornery grandfather will not give consent for them to marry. As Davina and Graham find a way of distracting her grandfather with Aunt Agatha, they sneak moments together. What will it take Graham to win over Davina's granfather and who will be the first to deliver a baby boy?
This series has been a laugh out loud from the first book to this one, the last.
All I can say is please don’t miss any book in this series, absolutely fantastic reads with tongue in cheek from our author.
If you are looking for an authentic read from this era, this series is really not for you if you want laugh out loud moments trying really hard to remember who’s who and keeping up with the story, buy all in this series.
Highly recommend all in this series
All books are stand alone.
I bought this book in appreciation of the authors work
4.3....I’d highly recommend reading the series in order. I enjoyed the book, but I felt the ending didn’t match all the hype I was anticipating. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it felt like “Oh, ok. That’s it.” I did enjoy it and it felt familiar with the other books in the series, it just didn’t get to where I wanted or expected. I enjoyed Davina and Graham. I enjoyed the entire series! I just wish there was a little bit more. But this is a funny, sexy and heart warming series that I would highly recommend.
So very happy that the devious devil in this story is the one to get burned and finally come to his senses and allow love to win! I wish we would have known Graham MacVinish Oliphant much sooner in the series, but love his wooing of Davina and his sense of honor and commitment! Loved the ending too, but what does Lara end up having? We we're left hanging with her still very pregnant or was she obnoxiously pregnant? LOL also Loved the humor between the brothers throughout this series! Want more!!!
Aww what a fitting end to this fantastic series "The Hot For Scots " I loved Grahams caring nature and Davina's devotion to him this has been a lovely read and Kiergan becoming Laird I was thinking it would be Rocque, so I was surprised but let's face it he is more than capable as the books have gone on his character grew so much, this series is well worth the read and Graham coming in late hasn't deterred form this great series if anything it added to it and I wouldn't be surprised if da has more children tucked away somewhere.
Too Scot to Hold is Graham and Davina’s story, but more than that, it is the culmination of The Hots for Scots series. I feel like this book is Caroline Lee’s love letter to the entire Oliphant family. We’ve seen them through pretty much every phase in life. They’ve made us laugh and cry. They’ve made us wish we could lecture them and shake some sense into them at certain points, but the family is always stronger as a unit and supports one another. This is a series I could reread and enjoy it again!
Great end to a brilliant series. This book is about davina and Graham’s love for one another, the misunderstandings along the way, and a few babies born too. The antics were hilarious as usual and it was nice to have all the characters from previous books making an appearance. This is the book where we finally find out who the new Laird Oliphant will be and you won’t be disappointed. I received an ARC from the author and leave this review voluntarily.
I have been both looking forward to and dreading this story. As the final installment in an incredibly funny, yet romantic series, I have been excited to find out who has babies, when, what gender, and who the next Laird Oliphant will be but also sad to see this phenomenal series end. Thankfully, nothing about this story disappointed. There was love, laughter, family, romance, and even a few surprises along the way!
This series of books has been so much fun, and so entertaining that I had a difficult time writing individual reviews. Let me just say that Caroline Lee has moved to a place of prominence on my bookshelf, and I would recommend her witty, highly developed characterizations and fabulous stories to every reader looking for escape from the doooooom of life. I have a "verra" satisfied smile on my face, and "nae" kilted hunk in sight. Ms. Lee, you are a jewel!
