Now he only needs to find a female to seduce... But not just any female--only one from the enemy clan will do. When he lays eyes on the sensual, beautiful and curvaceous Galwyn Murphy, he knows he's found his target. There's just one small problem: She's his fated mate. Quite happy with this short little thing. ✨

The trouble with these short novellas is the fact that there is almost never room for both a plot & character development. Not to say world building.
I did get the character development, but lacked a more substantial plot.

There's this fae lord who wants to seduce a woman for revenge but it turns out to be his fated mate but she gets angry when she hears that he wanted to seduce a woman for revenge. This didn't grab me and I ended up skimming quite a bit.

Hmm I really wanted to like this as I've previously been entertained by other stories set in this world but somehow this fell flat of my expectations. The idea of a Fae Lord finally getting revenge for the mistreatment of his family sounded good particularly when there's the idea that his fated Mate is somehow involved. However nothing really happened ! Our heroine stands up to her family and Dain realises that nothing is more important than his Mate and that's about it really. The only real bright spot was a witch who has previously appeared in other stories shows up and yet again gets to cast a spell which happily helps the couple along. Short and definitely not my favourite by this author
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Sweet romance with some nice steamy sexiness! Fun premise! Angry over some upset against his family, Fae Dain decides a revenge screw is in order, so he sets out to just that at a wedding with many of those who supposedly crossed his family. He has a chip on his shoulder, so he’s a bit of a grump. That is until he meets his “victim” Galwyn. Galwyn is Fae royalty and her family is trying to marry her off to some old Fae with a good bloodline; I’m not a fan that she actually puts up with it. Things end up steamy for Dain and Galwyn, but these two have some obstacles in their way to happiness. Entertaining, short romance! I would’ve liked a bit more magical elements; since they are Fae, but still really enjoyed the read! Looking forward to the rest of Dain’s cousin’s stories!

This was fun read that has opened up some new characters to explore the idea of fated mates with ;) I really liked seeing Kelly do her thing in this novel - always great to see previous characters. Dain, well, he was stuck in revenge mode, and I have to say there were enough peeps with power that liked it that way. And poor Galwyn! She has a family that no one would want to lay claim to. Thankfully, the mate spark flew between them and they found their way to an HEA, after much trial and pleading their case, dropping all revenge thoughts and heading off to a better future. I especially loved the idea of the tattooed crowns. Very cool!

This is an OK paranormal romance, but it was too short to have enough character development. I would have liked more backstory on both Dain and Galwyn. I also wanted to know more about the Othercross world. I know, though, that this was a short story, which meant no room for a lot of character development or world building.

I liked Galwyn, but it bothered me that she had such low self-esteem. I get that she had been treated badly by her family -- but her self-esteem was so bad, that she didn't even believe sincere compliments. It also bothered me that she forgave Dain so easily, since he gave her every reason to distrust him.

I had a hard time liking Dain at first. He was so determined to get revenge for the way his family was treated, and he didn't seem to get that his plan to seduce an innocent woman was NOT OK. He did get better when he realized Galwyn was his mate, but still ...

Overall, it was a quick, mildly entertaining read. It does feature instalove, but that is typical in paranormal romances. If you are looking for a quick paranormal read, with some steamy scenes, this is a good choice.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Dain and his Oberon clan cousins are used to being seen as outcasts within the Othercross society because of an altercation with the Murphy clan generations prior, but that doesn't mean that they accept their status. Invited to a wedding for formality's sake, Dain decides that this is the perfect opportunity to get some petty revenge on an unsuspecting Murphy. Then he spots Galwyn. She herself is considered pretty low on the fae nobility totem pole because of her lack of magic, but Dain sees past all that to the radiant woman she is. Will the two be able to set their families' squabbles aside to make their relationship work?

This was a short story and, considering the rapid pace of Dain and Galwyn's romance progression, I thought for sure that the whole thing was going to play out over a single evening. The plot ended up extending over the course of a few days, but it was still very much instalove. I could feel miscommunication-based drama coming from a mile away, but I was still really hopeful that the author would surprise me by going in a different direction. I didn't get my wish, but the issues were resolved fairly quickly. The H and h were interesting and I would have liked to get to know them better, but given the length of the book, I think that there was actually a fair amount of detail. This was the first in a spinoff series from Maddix's other REAL MEN novels and I believe that knowledge of those would increase the enjoyment of reading this one, but I went in blind and felt fine for the most part.

I'm looking forward to learning more about the other Oberon men and I've got my fingers crossed that as the characters pop up in each others' stories, their development will steadily deepen.

Fae Lord Avenged is the first book in the Real Fae of Othercross series, set within the Real Men of Othercross world. Dain is attending the wedding with only one thought on his mind - revenge. But when he catches sight of Galwyn, his plans change entirely. He wants her, but will his anger and pride get in the way of their fate?

This book is a fast read, but will suck you in right from the very beginning and you can’t help but want more! Dain and Galwyn have so much passion and a strong connection that burns between them. My favorite part about Dain is that he recognizes his anger is wrapped around himself like a cloak, and while he tries to shed it, he just gets angry all over again. But Galwyn is perfect for him, as she helps strip away the pain from his past. He just sees her. Galwyn has been crushed by the very people who should help build her up, but I loved watching her stand up for her own wants and needs. They’re protective of each other, passionate for one another, and can’t help but crave the other. There is some drama in this book, but I loved how quickly this book moved. My only negative is just that I wish there was more backstory of both characters and of the feud, as well as I wish we could have seen them a little more after the story. Great story otherwise and I already look forward to the next one!

Dain and his cousins have snubbed by the other Fae Lord families for a long time. A long time ago there was a disagreement between the Oberons and the Murphy family. A female Oberon ancestor was seduced and left behind in shame. The Oberons were denied their crowns and banished to their present lands. Now for the first time in a long time, the Oberons were invited to a Fae Lord's wedding. It is their chance to be back in society again but Dain is thinking more of revenge. He wants to treat a Murphy family female this his ancestor was treated. Maybe then both families would be on equal footing again. This was his plan until he saw Galwyn Murphy. He was immediately drawn to her. No he has to decide what is more important, his bond with Galwyn or his revenge.

Galwyn is a member of Fae royalty. She has all the duties of being a royal but gets none of the pleasures. She doesn't see herself as beautiful or magical. Her aunt is pushing her to marry a man old enough to be her grandfather. Galwyn isn't willing but until now she has had no other options. Then she meets Dain and passion explodes. Maybe she will have the courage to go after what she truly wants

I liked the premise of this book but things went way too fast and started tipping over into the corny romance genre. I noticed this the most around the 60% mark when the hero

This was not my cup of tea but would recommend it to people who like short corny romance books.

A little misplaced need for revenge makes a poor bedfellow. At least in Dain's case. Yeah, he might score some steamy time between the sheets, but that's about it. And hurting the lady who ended up being his fated mate in the process....not cool, man. Not cool, at all.

To be fair, he did sort of cast aside his burning need for a revenge bang pretty much from the moment he first whisked Galwyn off to dance. But it's also hard for Galwyn to believe his protestations of innocence after she found out his plan because she'd been so thoroughly beaten down by years and years of believing she's nothing because of her lack of magical ability.

Let's just say these two have a few things to work out (which they do pretty handily) before they get their HEA.

Quick, steamy, and fun. *thumbs up*

Dain Oberon was going to have his revenge on the Murphy’s. They wronged the Fae and that will end. Galwyn Murphy was set to marry Lord Rutherford. And older, much older man that made her skin crawl. But she was nothing special. What started out as a revenge the heart changed. Dain was so caught up in the hurt from the past, he wasn’t moving forward like his cousins. Galwyn made him see all that. He found his mate in her. She brought light to darkness. Galwyn’s aunt was a hurtful woman. She seemed to find joy in hurting Gal. I loved when Gal heald her own against her. She needed to grasp that inner strength. And what is with her friend Kelly. Seriously, is she a friend or not? With Dain by her side these two are stronger than ever. I’m looking forward to”Fae Lord Seduced.” Evie and Kellen are next.

A great new offshoot from the Othercross Series.

These 4 branches of the Fae are out for revenge. Their ancestor was maligned by the Murphy clan and they want their pound of flesh. Revenge is a dish best served centuries cold!

Dain and his fellow clansmen made a point of attending the royal Fae wedding. Sure, the invitation was only sent to be "appropriate" but it WAS sent and they are going to make their presence felt. If they can upset the fae applecart whilst there, well that's an added bonus. But Dain may have met his match in Galwyn. She is not a political pawn, no matter what the odious auntie wants to believe.

Lord Rutherford is suitably icky as Galwyn's intended and I loved watching events unfold. Sure there are hiccups along the way but the path to fae mate hood does does not run smooth!

Dain Oberon has finally had enough of the scandal and humiliation hurled at his clan. So when all four of the exiled clan leaders get an invitation to a wedding at Othercross, this is Dain’s chance to carry out the revenge that has been burning inside him and feeding his anger. He will make sure the Murphy Clan suffers in shame as he plans to seduce a Murphy female and humiliate her as his ancient relative was humiliated. Galwyn is the one he will choose for the payback.

Galwyn has had a difficult life. Now her aunt wants her to marry the ancient Fae Lord Reginald Rutherford! When she sees Dain, the two are attracted to each other and a bond begins to form. Is Galwyn truly Dain’s fated mate? Will he continue his plan to get his revenge? Or will he pursue Galwyn and convince her that they belong together?

Amazing story. It gives another view of the Fae, witches and otherworldly people live. The series is about four cousins of the Fae, all four residing over their own clan. For some reason they got invited to a wedding that they really had no reason to be invited. But who were they to not except. The only thing on Dain’s mind was getting revenge for what he felt was a slight by the fae royalty many years ago on his clan. Best way to go about it is getting one of their females in bed with him. The only problem is he did not plan on Galwyn being his fated mate. All parts of revenge are gone, now he has his mate. But can he keep her when she finds out about the original plan? Now that is a good question. I loved the happily ever after and I can’t wait to read about the other three Fae lords.

This was such a fun read, Dain Oberon is out for revenge against the Murphy Clan for a slight that happened many generations ago. His plan is to seduce a Murphy female and cause maximum humiliation, but when he sees Galwyn all thoughts of revenge leave him.
Galwyn has been belittled all her life, he aunt has set her up with a Fae Lord who is old enough to be her grandfather but apart from avoiding him she says nothing about it until she sees Dain. Instantly attracted to each other they sneak off during a wedding party. They both feel the bond beginning between them but her aunt’s vicious tongue spits words of poison that due to Galwyn’s low self-esteem breaks them apart.

Great start to a new series! I really enjoyed reading it. It was short though and I just wanted more. Dain and his family have been looked down upon for generations because something happened eons ago but still they are ousted and humiliated. He's over it and is ready for his revenge on the Murphy family. He's got a plan and his cousins are so not onboard with it but again dont stop him. We meet sweet Galwyn so doesnt have magic or so they say. She's been ridiculed for years and is expected to do as she is told but she does not want to marry someone old enough to be her Grandmother. Once Dain and Galwyn see each other all bets are off....or are they?

That girl has some grit! I loved her and cant wait to read more.

Dain and his cousins are invited to a wedding but no-one expected them to show up. Dain thinks it's a chance for them to finally get revenge for a slight that caused their family to be outcast several generations ago. He's got a plan and he's ready to implement it when he sees a target -- Galwyn Murphy, part of the treacherous Murphy clan. But when he meets her, revenge is the last thing on his mind. But secrets can't be kept and his plan will out.

This is a fast paced, easy read and the beginning of a new series. A bit predictable but totally enjoyable. Characters were likable and the bad guys were really bad. Chemistry between the lead characters was excellent and they were well matched.

This was a good start to a new series in the Othercross world. I enjoyed the short book, but was not prepared for it to be so short. I felt I was done with the story before I even really got invested in the characters. While I did like the lunchtime break, I know, I personally would have given the novella a higher rating for a longer book. The short novella has a good storyline and a nice ending, it also ends in such a way that the reader will want to read the next book to find out more about the other characters mentioned in the novella.

A good start to a new series!

An enjoyable start to a new series! I was highly entertained in this first book with the many twist that will have you guessing until the end. What started as revenge for Dain becomes something unexpected when he meets Galwyn who charges the course of his actions. I enjoyed that Dain character changes as Galwyn enters his life because he wasn’t a likable character in the beginning but redeemed himself. This was a good start to the new series and I can’t wait for more.

Not for Me

I thought this was supposed to be an historical novel about a fae Lord, but i don't know what it is. It definitely isn't a novella I want to read.

Apparently the setting is modern day because the language used by the characters is modern. It's mostly about a man seeking revenge at a wedding gathering.

I also got this ebook with KU.

I was completely disappointed in this book, which to me was a bait and switch, or misrepresented. Nice cover picture, though! DNF

Dain was at a wedding wanting to get revenge on the Murphy witches but all of that changed when he meets Galwyn Murphy revenge left his mind he wanted her and even though Galwyn was part of the Fae royalty he didn’t care what others thought this was much more than revenge because Dain had found his mate, but Galwyn was a null how could he love her when she had no magic and what will happen when she finds out the truth about the real reason why Dain was there?. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book.

Dain’s side of the fae family had been made outcast from some old family feud years and years ago and now he was ready to get back at the side that had disgraced the Oberons. Galwyn was promised to an older fae because she was a null. Dain’s plan backfired when he saw Galwyn because he knew that she was the one for him. The interesting and exciting romance between Dain and Galwyn was filled with intrigue, doubt, lies, spells, and a bit of fun.

Enjoyable and entertaining short story. This fast-paced read didn't really have much in the drama department but that didn't take away from the story and I really can't say much without giving anything away. What I can do is if you want to know what happened you should definitely one click to find out for yourself. I adored the vampire novellas in the Real Men world and the Fae are starting off just as sexy. Dain and Galwyn light up the page. They do have some Insta-love going for the but it doesn't solve everything and that always makes a story more interesting.
Kelly is back and I hope we get more of her story soon. I can't wait for the rest of the brothers.

I love this start to the new series! It's a quick read but hot fae - oh yea! Get invited to where you can get close to a Murphy - check. Chat about how you feel about said clan - check. Meet and dance with one - check. Find out said Murphy is your fated and someone overheard your conversation - check. But what happens during and after all this, well read and find out. And have fun doing so because it's a fun story. Can't wait for more!
