Having a rock star as a business partner was always going to be a gamble, but as a gangland boss, you assume people won’t cross you. After all, everyone knows not to mess with Frankie Finch.
Kidd Ritchie may be past his prime, but after thirty years of rocking packed stadiums he can still draw a crowd, so all eyes are on their glitzy new casino for opening night.
But when burlesque superstar Birdie the Bird of Paradise is snatched from her dressing room and one of Frankie’s boys risks everything to save her, Frankie has no choice but to get involved.
As the Vegas mafia close in and threaten everything Frankie holds dear, can he get Birdie and his man back alive, or will his reign as king of East London finally come to an end?
And everyone knows, you don’t retire from being a gang boss. You get retired.
An entertaining and enthralling read. Lots of action, drama and angst with a touch of steam. I like the character Frankie, the aged crim... the story is written from the perspective of the ‘baddies’. Although part of a series, the book is stand alone, and well worth reading. I received this book as an arc and this review is entirely voluntary.
Leave it to T.M Thorne to orchestrate an engaging plot with multiple POV's! "Caged: Rock, Ransom and Retribution" is another book shelved under the Frankie Finch series that can be read as a stand-alone book. Frankie takes a chance on Kidd Ritchie as a business partner and burlesque superstar Birdie the Bird of Paradise to cement the launch of Vice, his top-end casino. However, Kidd has some unfinished business that finds its way to the shores of England. Birdie is kidnapped, and Frankie's man is caught in the crossfire. Frankie Finch's evolution is wonderful to read as he balances fatherhood and being a gangland boss. Additionally, the brief appearances of some beloved characters are exceptionally integrated into this book. There are many twists and turns that keep you guessing till the end. A 5 star read!
Thank you to TM Thorne for giving me an ARC of this book. This honest review is left voluntarily.
Frankie Finch has teamed up on a London casino with a retired rock star. Two friends are kidnapped with an agenda of getting the band back together to pay off a debt to the Las Vegas mafia. Hilarity ensues.
