A festive heartwarming small town Christmas read. I was so delighted to be back in Cockleberry Bay with these wonderful characters. Rosa sure has grown as a person throughout the story and now she is a mom. And of course motherhood comes with a new set of problems, especially because Josh is working in the US at the moment. Rosa is stretched to her limits with baby, job and Hot the dog. Titch is there to lend support but she is about to have a second baby of her own. In addition there are questionable goings-on at Luke’s New hotel/restaurant. An entertaining story set against the backdrop of the run up to Christmas in this small town. Reading this was like coming home and spending time with good friends. just like the previous books in the series the story was full of so much charm and whimsy. I love the relationships between all these characters and it was lots of fun watching these characters navigate the new chapters in their lives. I am hopeful that this is not my last trip to Cockleberry Bay.

5☆ Full of Festive Charm, a Heartwarming and Uplifting Read!

I am a huge fan of the Cockleberry Bay series so when I see this was a Christmas visit I couldn't wait to read it and catch up on all the fantastic residents old and new!

This book really is best read as part of the series although you could potentially read as a standalone.

It was so lovely to be back visiting everyone. Seeing how Rosa and hot dog are and of course Little Ned and Titch too as she's heavily pregnant and still running the Corner Shop.
Good to see Rosa is the same as ever, never stopping even though she's now a Mummy!

As always with this amazing series, there's so much going on and the Festive Spirit has most definitely arrived!
There's some exciting twists, new characters, adorable fur babies, drama, mayhem, underhanded tactics, mystery, romance and laughter all set in the stunning Cockleberry Bay.

Christmas in Cockleberry Bay is Heartwarming, Uplifting, Fun, Compelling and Witty read that will leave you smiling, feeling warm inside and never wanting it to end!
I always look forward to Nicola May's books and once again I have fallen even more in love with Cockleberry Bay!

So if you haven't yet had the pleasure of reading this delightful and heartwarming series then I highly recommend you do!

Read December 2020
This series has been one of the highlights of my year.
Sure, they have their flaws, but I've enjoyed them so much!
Read the first three over the summer months (as the Dutch editions where released) and was sad to say goodbye to Cockleberry Bay and all the characters when I finished the third book.
To have a surprise fourth book was truly a (slightly early) Christmas present.

Rosa, Titch, Hot and co are all back in this fabulous new story. I was so excited to be able to catch up with all of my favourite characters, a couple of years after the previous book, which also makes it a bit easier for those new to the series to be able to read it as a standalone.

There is so much drama involved, it keeps you on your toes the whole time, but it also has the continuation of many storylines, into even better places.

It is actually impressive just how much story is packed into this book, it is on the go continually, and I was just loving every moment of it.

There is an incident with the hotel inspector, there's despicable behaviour from a girlfriend, there is a hilarious sounding reindeer, a scandalous Santa, a fabulous Christmas charity fundraising effort, more babies than you can easily count, possibly more dogs too, and seeing how Rosa is now coping with motherhood is rather interesting.

Titch is feisty as ever and it is good to see how she is getting on with The Corner Shop. I could wax lyrical about how fabulous it is to catch up with all the regular characters, but if you are already a fan of this series, then you should 100% experience it for yourself, and if you haven't then I don't want to spoil things from the previous books.

This is written with Nicola May's typical flair and grit, and is just another impressive book in this series. So happy that it was written and just have to wonder whether this really is the end of the Cockleberry Bay 4 book trilogy, or if there will be more from Rosa and co.

Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

We are back in Cockleberry bay and Rosie has literally been left holding the baby- but she's happy about it- or is she? Her husband Josh has taken on some work which will see him financially through the next few months for a short stay away over the pond. Rosa is realising how much she misses him and that to have a little help with little Ned (and hot dog) would be wonderful. She finds “Little Angels” nursery which helps but the shop and cafes are busy for halloween and the lead up to Christmas. Her father has now reappeared on the scene and has taken over the local undertakers so Rosa in three years has not only got married and had a baby but also got both of her parents in her life for the first time in many many years. One of the crew’s PC girlfriend isn’t exactly trustworthy and puts not only the Christmas grotto in potential danger but the jobs of many in the hotel too. I love this series- its a charming and comfortable read in front of the fire with a hot chocolate to give you that warm feeling both inside and out. That the truth always outs and that there is good in the world and things can make you smile when you are feeling low. A highly recommended series.

Christmas at Cockleberry Bay is an absolutely fabulous addition to this brilliant series.

It’s funny, action packed and thoroughly entertaining.

It’s lovely to be back in the Bay, with a huge cast of wonderful characters, who have become my friends, and see how their lives are progressing.

This is a series that I never want to end and could read about for ever!

I would highly recommend reading all the books in the series in order as you can then fully appreciate the history of the characters and storyline. Also, the books are just fab! The books in the series in order are:

The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay

Meet Me in Cockleberry Bay

The Gift of Cockleberry Bay

Christmas in Cockleberry Bay

I don’t think I will ever tire of reading about Rosa and her friends in Cockleberry Bay. Nicola May has written another fun, flirty, festive and fabulous instalment in the Cockleberry Bay series.

Life for Rosa never runs smoothly but she takes it in her stride and in true Rosa fashion she deals with it. Rosa’s life is hectic as usual with a young baby, two businesses, a charity to promote and all whilst her beloved husband is working overseas.

Cockleberry Bay is full of preparations for the autumn and winter festivities that lay ahead and the two pubs are up for a Seaside Rosette award so it’s all exciting but anxious times for all involved. Rosa’s family life has expanded with a new baby and finding her long lost father and step-brother, she feels like all her blessings have been granted. However, as much as it’s wonderful having family around her it does take some getting use to.

Author Nicola May has introduced some great new characters to the bay that have slotted in perfectly bringing together a story that is so very likeable. It’s warm-hearted and lovable but also not without sensitivity and emotion. Chaos never seems far away from the seaside town but the community stick together and help each other with a few chuckles along the way.

I loved Christmas in Cockleberry Bay and hope there’s more to come. Rosa and her ever growing gang warm my heart and I always feel welcomed when I return to Cockleberry Bay.

Christmas in Cockleberry Bay what could be nicer? It's fun to return to Cockleberry Bay and its community at this festive time of year. Whilst this festive book is a complete story, the series is so special if you can read them all.

The story is full of vivid imagery, making the characters, events and setting easy to imagine. There are lots of characters and stories, so you need to concentrate, but it's realistic and vibrant, and the dynamics are relatable to anyone who lives in a small community. For series regulars, there are updates on their favourite characters' lives and for new readers, there's lots of festive fun, humour, and intrigue.

This series would work well on television, it makes such good use of sensory imagery, with larger than life, memorable characters. It's easy to see why this series is so popular, especially in such an uncertain world. It's the perfect escapist read definitely a festive book worth reading.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

It is so good to return to the brilliant Cockleberry Bay community to catch up on what all the characters have been up to in this fourth book in the series. There's a great mix of family drama, friendship, romance, mystery and dastardly deeds in this story.

Rosa is finding life with her young baby very different. Her husband, Josh, is away working in America and she's juggling so many different things. Add in the newcomer to the village, a surprise new event to organise, Luke's latest girlfriend being less than friendly, the unwelcome return of a man and his dog as well as the much anticipated visit of the mystery hotel inspector due to rate two establishments . . . it is all go in Cockleberry Bay!

It is such fun to read about everyone in this delightful community. The interpersonal relationships, the hidden dramas together with the secrets being kept all add up to create an enthralling read and great addition to this series. Even the dogs involved each have their own traits - especially Rosa's dog, Hot! This is a lovely story full of surprises, lots of love and yet more babies and even a second-chance romance on the way!

My thanks to the author for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Reading the story took me back to when I was young and used to sit unnoticed in the kitchen. At the same time, my mom and a group of female relatives would talk, totally unaware of the little ears that listened intently. The dialogue has a grittiness that is shocking but oh, so real as to feel like you are little ears listening unnoticed.

I loved the shock of such blatantly real conversations in this story, from menopause to incontinence to romance after baby. May does not sugarcoat these conversations; instead keeps them as accurate as if it was a conversation she overheard. It is so refreshing within the genre to have that bit of grittiness.

My favorite character for this story is Tina Green, mother to single father Danny, and grandmother to Alfie. She showed so much chutzpah and determination to solve the mysteries and make things right for everyone. Rosa is very distracted by her newborn son and other baby-related happenings, so Tina steps up, figures out what’s going, and sets everything right.

I love the ending. It is the perfect ending for this story, and it left me with lots of Christmas feels. I also loved the event Carol-oke. Such a fun concept for a book and a fundraiser, as groups compete with their own renditions of popular Christmas carols.

If you are looking for a Christmas story with a little mystery, a slight grittiness and sass, and a lot of Christmas spirit, look no further!

Idea pikkukaupungin tunnelmallisesta joulusta olisi ihana. Mutta lukukokemus on vähintäänkin erikoinen. Pikkukaupunkitunnelmointi muuttuu hetkittäin ilman ennakkovaroitusta yhtäkkiä kiroiluksi ja k18-matskuksi sekä petoksiksi - vähintäänkin hämmentäviä tunnelmasta toiseen siirtymisiä. Ei mene joulusuosituslistalle.

As the most recent book in the series following Rosa through her time at Cockleberry Bay, I felt the book took quite a bit of time to find it's pace. Previously I have loved the series, but have noticed a recurring theme of the sequels taking time to settle into a pace. Perhaps, this showcases the slower paced lifestyle, many characters in the bay will be experiencing; however I feel that is not the case. The drama at times can be over the top later in the book, but in a way this is satisfying especially when not much has happened in the book before. Not my favourite of the series, but it did capture the feel of winter and Christmas successfully and was a nice bit of escapism in 2020.

Couldn't put the books down...

Light reading, fascinating and real life characters which whose stories anyone can relate, moving scenes, waking all kind of emotions. Highly recommended to all those who love rom com and are dreaming living by the seaside. Had borrowed the first one of the cockleberry bay series and very soon found myself buying the rest, devouring them in a couple of nights and longing for the pleasant surprise of the 4th one! Looking forward to the upcoming ferrylane market! 😊

We are back in Cockleberry Bay for the 4th book in the series. Whilst it is a series, it can be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend reading the books in series order for better understanding of the back stories. Rosa is coping with the demands of motherhood while her friend, Titch is coping with the demands of being pregnant. Rosa’s husband Josh, is working away for several months, and whilst she understands the need for him to be away, you have got to feel sorry for her having to deal with Little Ned all on her own! I’ve always liked Rosa’s character and it’s lovely to see both of her parents back on the scene, particularly as she needs all the help she can get!

All of the regulars from the previous books are back to join in the fun, and there are some new characters thrown into the mix as well! The characters are so well written that it just feels like coming back home to a group of good friends (although some of them take a bit more working on!) The book grabs you right at the beginning and even though I kept thinking I’ll put it down at the next chapter, I never did and I sped through the book loving every page!! There is so much going on with hotel inspectors, babies, dodgy girlfriends and the Christmas festivities in the village, that you barely have time to catch your breath before you’re off again!!!

This book was an absolute delight and one which I thoroughly enjoyed!! My favourite, as in every book of the series, is Hot the Dog!! I can’t help but chuckle every time I hear his name, and it’s great to see how they are all settling down in their family group! This author has a definite flair of writing books which are so comforting that they wrap you up like a big fluffy blanket!! This is a book of heart-warming family moments, fun, laughter and plenty of Christmas cheer!! The storyline will capture you from start to finish, and I really hope there will be another book in the series so I can return to the loveliness of Cockleberry Bay! Would definitely recommend!

I have been a fan of Nicola’s work for a little while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but I am getting there. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading her books but I have a special fondness for her ‘Cockleberry Bay’ series. Nicola’s latest book is called ‘Christmas In Cockleberry Bay’ and it was released on 13th November 2020. It’s another corker of a read, which I thoroughly enjoyed but more about that in a bit.
It didn’t take me long at all to get into this story. In fact as soon as I saw the words ‘Cockleberry Bay’ on the cover of the book, I just knew that I had to read it as soon as I could. When I managed to get my hands on a copy of the book, I grabbed my Kindle, grabbed a cup of tea and settled down for an afternoon of fun and frolics with the Cockleberry Bay gang. This was one of those books that I was desperate to finish because I had a need to know what happened and at the same time I didn’t want to read the book too quickly because I was enjoying the story so much. I started reading ‘Christmas In Cockleberry Bay’ only intending to read a couple of chapters but I became so wrapped up in the story that I read over a third of the book in one reading binge. A couple of hours later I reached the end of the story and I had to bid farewell to Rosa and the rest of the gang.
‘Christmas In Cockleberry Bay’ is superbly written but then I think that to be true of all of Nicola’s books to date. Nicola certainly knows how to grab your attention and draw you into the heartwarming story from the very start. She creates adorable characters and describes them so vividly that they seem to spring to life and they seem just as real as you and I. I felt as though I was part of the story myself and that’s all thanks to Nicola’s very vivid and realistic storytelling. ‘Christmas In Cockleberry Bay’ has a bit of everything within its pages- there’s drama, fun, laughter, comedy and romance in abundance.
In short, I really enjoyed reading ‘Christmas In Cockleberry Bay’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Nicola’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

'Christmas in Cockleberry Bay' by Nicola May
Genre: Romance and Domestic fiction.

About The Novel: Rosa and Josh are living in their new home and they have become parents. Yet, Josh has another opportunity to work abroad to support them for the future. Rosa is left on her own to look after their little boy, keep an eye on their joint business and to an organise a Christmas event for her local charity.
On top of all this, her estranged father has moved to the Bay, her mother is experiencing memory difficulties, her home is broken in to and more. Will she be able to cope with everything especially at this festive time?

My Review: This story is full of page turning twists and turns. The novel is full of laughter, love and friendship.
I could picture the gorgeous British seaside settings and the festive season. The original main characters are still 3 dimensional and likeable. I especially like Mary with her spiritual personality and the adorable 'Hot'. The new antagonist is brilliant, because I can see why she behaved poorly.
The balance of show and tell is great and there is mostly no over description. The ending is lovely, such a beautiful way to bring a conclusion to the novel series.

I feel there were parts that did not need to be there. Possibly a bit too much going on. I did prefer the first 3 novels in this series. If I did not read the previous novels, I would have stopped reading because this story is so heavy on mothers and babies especially in the beginning (No offence to mothers and babies). I stay away from novels that are heavy on parenting due to my own circumstances. However, I feel I am more aware of challenges that mother's and father's face.

Triggers - Brief sexual scenes.

I genuinely enjoyed the Cockleberry Series. The series is brilliantly written. I highly recommend these novels to anyone who enjoys similar genres.

Winter in cockleberry Bay - Nicola May (LS Amsterdam)
