This has to be one of the cutest (and cleanest) romances ever!!! All the characters are just adorable... I never skimmed or got bored, in spite of the length of this book.

After losing her boyfriend, her job and her grandmother in a short span of time, Lou learns that she had inherited her grandma’s bakery and home in Whispering Mountains. Mysteriously, her late grandmother’s cat... err companion... Monique, finds her way to Lou in LA. With nothing to hold her back, Lou packs her bags and heads off to increase the population of the enchanting land of The Earthstone, Insuri, Fale and Wraiths... HER Wraith.

Malcom, the cursed Wraith, roamed the glade and Forest for over 200 years, as nothing more than a shadow. For almost a decade, he watched Lou every time she visited her grandmother... until, she stopped, three years ago! Now that she’s back, he can be a man again... But his troubles are just beginning as he struggles to catch up with the times and get his feelings under control!

This fun and exciting romance between Lou and Malcolm was such an interesting and unique story. The characters in the town of Whispering Mountain were so fun and interesting and Lou went from a mouse to a vibrant, strong woman. The story had me hooked from the beginning and I didn’t want to stop reading. Good read

Delightful!

Had to read this in one sitting! New supernatural people, interesting story, and believable characters, funny, too. And where can I get a Fale??

Drawn to her flame

What an amazing story! The author starts us right in the thick of things and the excitement just grows from there. I love the characters! They were fully developed with such a depth to their emotions and personalities that I was drawn into their story. And the location, just wow! This quirky little town fits the characters and the story perfectly. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the book, it has all of the hallmarks of a cozy mystery. A mysterious hero, a damsel in distress, a crew of family and friends for support, an unexpected villain, an overbearing leader, and the real person in charge all mix together to make this wonderful story that I didn’t want to put down until the very last word. I couldn’t read the teaser at the end of the book because I already can’t wait to read book two and getting a hint of what’s coming next would make the wait seem that much longer. This book is such a sweet love story and a fabulous series starter, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the next book.

After 200 years of being a shadowing being, Malcolm has returned home. He believes Lou is the key hero his paranormal self to return to a being. Even if he is over 200 years old. Villains and Lou was in the dark about her secret public life until after her grandmother died. Intriguing adventure. Had fun reading.

This unique book 1 in the Whispering Mountain Book Series is a well-written, paranormal romance book with interesting characters that have a lot of personality and depth. It has sweetness and fiestiness rolled into one amazing story with some really good scenes. These well written characters have good histories and a mysteries to solve. It has no cheating and no cliffhangers.

This is the first book in the series and is definitely showing signs of becoming a fantastic one. Malcolm and Lou are such a great couple and the twists and turns they had were great.

Whispering Flame is terrific! Ms. Thomas has created Whispering Mountain, a town that I want to move to yesterday, if not sooner. I struggled with the heroine, Lou, in the beginning - she was too dependent on her so-called friend, Gail, who clearly did not behave as a friend. Lou starts coming into her own when she returns to Whispering Mountain to run the bakery she inherited from her grandmother. The longer Lou is in Whispering Mountain, the more she becomes the person she was meant to be. Supportive friends and Monique, the companion cat-like creature who adopts her, help Lou come fully into the power she inherited from her grandmother. Part of her transformation is also due to Malcolm, who has been trapped in a ghost like state with his brothers for hundreds of years because they violated the basic rules of living in Whispering Mountain. Malcolm has been drawn to Lou through the years as she visited her grandmother. Having Lou in Whispering Mountain for an extended period of time helps Malcolm resume his human form. Lou and Malcolm have to work through a lot of things - the difference in how women expect to be treated in the present time versus the time Malcolm was last human, earning a living in the present as well as learning how to be together in a relationship. All complicated by the legend of Malcolm and his brothers, and the suspicious problems that start happening at the Bakery.
Lou and Malcolm find their happy ending, with lots of struggle and help from the citizens of Whispering Mountain - how they get there is a really great story!

Wow

What a great way to nearly end my year of reads. I’m blown away. I do have to say I’d have read it sooner with a different cover. The cover doesn’t match the genre and therefore doesn’t draw fans of this genre in. I don’t read blurbs. It feels too much like spoilers. I went in thinking it was a contemporary romance and was ecstatic to find out it was fantasy, magical realism, science fiction, etc. Those are my weakness. I’m certain many others are missing out because they prefer the fantasy aspect and they immediately right this off because let’s face it, we do judge a book by it’s cover. This was so good. I’m going to straight to book 2.

I have to say this would be a very interesting movie!!! It was an easy read, however i felt like Malcom was not a fully developed character. Why did he chased Lou before? What’s his story with the stone? A 200 year old man would just come after a girl he just met because he thinks she broke the spell and then accept her as an equal? He became human again and then he loves her but then he says he must love her, all happens too fast, incredibly fast. The idea is very interesting i just feel like it should have more of a prelude in their love story.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how the author took a well-known subject, elemental magic, and made it her own. I also liked all of the characters and are invested in their stories enough to look forward to the next book. I also appreciated how the author included enough mystery in the story to leave the reader wanting more. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to any fantasy romance fan looking for a fun, light, fast-paced read.

Losing her boyfriend and her job was bad enough, but Lou finds out her beloved Grandma Gigi died. She inherits the bakery and a town full of surprises. I especially enjoyed Lou’s character development.
