Falling for the other woman…

Animal rescuer Molly Hebert is set to catch her cheating boyfriend mid-date and kick him to the curb. But once she spies his famous country singer companion, her plan dissolves and a new one emerges. She’ll make him think twice before hurting anyone else ever again…if she can peel her eyes from his gorgeous date long enough to form that plan.

Josephine Broussard would do anything for her bandmates. Even hide her true identity to appease their fans. But she can’t hide her feelings for Molly or resist the woman’s vengeful crusade. She’ll need to tame her unyielding sense of responsibility while Molly battles destructive insecurities to create their own love song for the ages.

This was a cute little story. There wasn't a whole lot of getting to know each other and stuff like that that I usually like. I did like the revenge partners to being in love partners storyline. But the "I love you's" came real quick so that's why I'm not rating this higher. But it's a cute kindle unlimited story if you want something fun and quick to read. And there's an adorable little cat named Bananas.

A solid 3.5 star book with an interesting premise I hadn't personally encountered before.

Molly has discovered her boyfriend is cheating on her and wants to dump him but then she discovers who he is also seeing - Jo - the lead singer of a country band and finds herself unable to do so. Instead she ends up striking up a revenge pact with Jo.

I liked that both characters could instantly see that the situation was neither of their faults - there was no blaming the other woman, which had been how I was expecting it to happen. The pact to get revenge gives them a reason to get to know each other even though they’re from different worlds and it works, so I applaud Landry for this. It was good that this pact brought them together, but didn't take up more space than necessary in the narrative itself.

I liked both Jo and Molly as characters. Molly is comfortable in her bisexuality and Jo is coming to an understanding as to her sexuality. The reluctance on Jo’s part to be with Molly was frustrating at first, but somewhat understandable due to her profession. The tension this created in the will they won’t they back and forth provided lots of good opportunities for getting to know both characters. I liked that her friends and bandmates supported her with her journey. Both Jo and Molly’s best friends are good characters who help move the story along and I liked that there was a little bit of a sub storyline there too.

Spending time at the animal rescue was fun and the introduction of Bananas the cat was enjoyable too.

A quickie romance with a lotta angst. I liked it.

It would have been so satisfying to see Royce's reaction to Molly and Jo being together, considering the horrid things he said and did, it would have been perfect to hit him where it hurts. His over inflated ego.

A cute, sapphic comfort read.

Because You Can by Leigh Landry is a zero spice, cozy coming out story about two women who accidentally bond over dating the same guy… and end up finding something much better in each other. It’s soft, sweet, and easy to read, with a wholesome HEA that left me smiling.

Nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes you just want a comfy, love story with good vibes and a dash of chaos from a terrible shared ex. If you’re in the mood for a gentle sapphic romance, this one’s a cute pick.

3 Stars - kindle unlimited

just an ok read for me. This is either fast slow burn or a slow fast burn. The MCs meet and only spend tiny chunks of time together but some how fall in love and have barely kissed by 68% mark. I did like both of them and that’s why I kept reading. Also Jo’s bff Brandon was great. There is also a crazy kitty named Bananas. Be warned, there is zero steam on screen if you are into that. I am not even sure there is steam off screen. They go on vacation towards the end of the book and all we hear about it was how great it was spending the week cuddled up on the couch reading. While that sounds like a great vacation for me and my wife, who’ve been married for 25 years, it’s not quite what you expect from a younger loved up couple. So that was a little different. Anyway. It was ok, but I probably won’t read any of the other books in the series.

Country singer meets cat adoption specialist

Molly helps with cat adoptions, helping pair furry creatures with their forever home. Molly catches her boyfriend on a date with another woman, Jo.
Jo is dating a guy because her band manager set her up. Unhappy in the relationship she realizes she needs to change her dating methods. It becomes clear as soon as she sees Molly.
Together they plan to let all of their exe boyfriends dates know he cheats on them. Molly needs to learn to love herself. Jo needs to come out, finish recording for her album, prepare and start her tour. A picture is caught before Jo has the chance to make the decision to come out.
Their love story is slot of trying to decipher feelings and what to do with them. There is angst. No steamy scenes. But there is a strong chemistry that you can feel. Take a break and enjoy the story. I look forward to more of Leigh Landry.

Love is worth the risk ...

A wonderful journey for Molly and Jo to find each other and to work through the fear of coming out as a public figure. Their “family” were fierce supporters and defenders of their love and life together. The love and caring for animals was a profound gift. Bananas needs his own novel. Music, animals, and love ... a powerful entity to be cherished. A very good read. I love and admire the writings of this author. I enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend this book and any others by her. Thank you Peace

I always love Leigh Landry’s humor and heart. Molly and Jo had me hooked from page one — I love the premise of the girlfriend and the “other woman” running off together... especially since this book delivers SO well on a fun idea. I laughed often, and got teary eyed, too.

Also, Leigh’s books always have adorable pets and memorable supporting characters!

It’s the hopeful, heart happy, sweet and wonderful sorry that 2020 needs.

I did really like this, but found Jo a little too unlikable at times. And by that I mean: I wanted Molly to have all the happiness without any conflict ever, so it hurt to see her hurt, and I think Jo is very much to blame. Even so, it is understandable. Coming out is a difficult endeavor, and as a public figure it would be incredibly challenging, so I do not envy her position. But her band / friends all tell her — multiple times — that she should do it and be herself and etc. only for her to be like “I can’t do that because of the band.”

I loved the premise of this story. Take the idea of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," twist the plot with revenge against the cheating guy, and have the two ladies fall in love with each other. This was a fun and easy read. I'm not always great at reading ebooks, but for this, my chapters sped by.

I did get annoyed with Jo toward the end before she fully committed to their love relationship. She was back and forth more than a yo-yo. It was still in the 80% range before she did that, and I almost doubted we'd get a believable HEA/HFN. Thankfully, she came to her senses and stood her ground about who she wanted (Molly).

There is an epilogue, and it was just right for the story. In contemporary romances, I often dislike the epilogues because they are full of cliched level ups that somehow stop being meaningful. (If dating, the couple becomes engaged. If married, the couple finds out they're pregnant. Etc.) This was low-key but still on the right track that everything is working between them.

As far as sexual content, there are no sex scenes on the page, but the couple does kiss. In some circles, this could be considered a "clean" romance if they could get over the fact that the story is between two women.

The story is good with authentic Louisiana flair. I'm glad I found it, and you just might like it, too.

This is the second time a Landry book gave me all the emotions I wanted but still did not totally work for me.

The setup is interesting enough: Molly finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her and its with none other than famous country band member Jo. There is an immediate interest from both sides as the two sit down to discuss what to do with their shared connection.
I felt that Molly and Jo fit well together, it was in the little glances, the butterfly feelings before a phone call or text and in their flimsy excuses to spend more time together. We don't get much insight into Jo's life beyond vague statements about recording songs and planning the upcoming tour. Since the fact that she is not out to the public and doesn't want to risk the ire of her fans is part of her struggle, I wished we had more fan interactions and generally a stronger focus on that. Instead, we spend more time at Molly's work, an animal rescue/shelter.

And just as the story gets interesting, the novel is over. We skip over the things I would have loved to see to get a cute epilogue. Overall nice but I fear I will have forgotten most details before the year is over.

When Molly discovers her boyfriend is cheating, she marches into his coffee date with another woman and is stopped in her tracks by Jo, a well-known lead singer in an all-woman country music group who is drop dead gorgeous. Jo has been giving heterosexuality one last try with this guy and realizes that she is only into women, especially when she sees Molly. The two end up hatching a revenge plot against the boyfriend and become more interested in one another in the process. But Jo isn't ready to come out to her fans and Molly has been told one too many times that she isn't "good enough."

The set up here is a good one and the characters are well drawn. The problem is that the writing overall is not strong, with many errors and inconsistencies that a careful beta reader or editor could have found. Also, Jo's change of heart seems to happen too easily given how set she'd been on not being out.

Overall, this was a pretty decent story and giving it a 3.5 star (rounded up). I loved the plot/initial premise of the book - get revenge on a cheating ex by teaming up with “the other woman.” Loved the supporting characters - especially Ben! There were moments where the dialogue tugged on my heartstrings, and I wished there were more of those!

Where it feel short for me was there was too little room for character development and the story later on felt too rushed, especially towards the end (when the “I love you” lines were mentioned). I wished the MC’s love story was not as delayed as it was and happened at a faster pace so there’s more room to understand their individual feelings more.

A cheating boyfriend leads to sapphic love

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: favorite trope, meet-cute, bi and lesbian MCs, unusual job (possibly other categories)

A pet shelter worker and a somewhat famous singer from a women's country music band bond over unfortunate circumstances that could potentially ruin the singer's career by outing her. Their situations reveal their strength and willingness to help other women that are victims of the same circumstance by publicly exposing the cheater. A good read.

Did I just read a sapphic book where the mc knew her self worth???(a little bit at least)

I really thought I was going to end up falling in love with Jo,but somehow Molly stolen it,and I can explain and why.

Jo messed up bad, very bad.Like she messed up The first time, then she apologize not even 5 minutes that she messes up AGAIN???and then she apologize and the next day SHE MESSED UP AGAIN???☠️☠️☠️

How was she keeping doing it was so annoying and always about the same thing.I needed her to do more than write a song.

It was well written and a really interesting concept. Leigh Landry can write, there’s no doubt about that. But can she write sapphic romance? For me, unfortunately, the answer is no. One kiss at like 75% and they are suddenly in love without spending any time together. I know it’s WLW and we move fast, but there was no development of the relationship. Like zero. No FaceTime, no massive text chains, very little internal dialogue about being together. Molly’s character was the most redeeming because at least she took up for herself a bit.

This tale begins with an unusual meet-cute and segues into a conventional star-musician-in-the-closet story. There is a cheating boyfriend and a decent cast of supportive secondary characters to help the couple along.

Part of the fun in reading this romance is the author's wonderful turn of phrase, for example describing the boyfriend as a "nice-looking, sentient wallet." This makes the journey amusing. In the end the happy couple have the expected HEA

THE STORY WAS GOOD 'BUT' LEFT SO MUCH 'OUT' FOR 'DESIRE' AND CLOSENESS!

Not real excited about the hours spent reading this story to only be 'LET DOWN' coming to the end of the story and not be truly shown the 'FEELINGS' each woman had for the other through PASSION AND EXCITEMENT!

PROBABLY GOING TO TRY TO FIND THAT PASSION IN OTHER AUTHOR'S OFFERINGS!

SORRY, LEIGH!

Rescue Me

Molly Hebert is the head cat coordinator at the New Orleans rescue and she’s about to confront her cheating boyfriend with another woman. Then she recognises the woman as Josephine Broussard, a country music singer. After the non confrontation, they talk and their key to the future lies ahead. Sweet romance and there’s a cat.

it’s nice but….

Way too much back & forth from the singer. Anyone but Molly would have ran a mile the first time. A light read but the to-ing & fro-ing is too much, especially after going all out with the flowers. we could have done with one angst less.
