A cross-over novel combining the worlds of magical baker, Cindy Eller, and her sister the unconquerable Goldie Locke.
Since the death of Queen Elizabeth, Faerie has been closed to our world. Now, many believe it is time to destroy the barrier separating the two worlds-- for Faerie and the mortal world to live together once again.
The mortal Council of Magic will never allow this, despite the ever-growing mortality rate of a plague caused by the increasing deficit of Magic on our side of the barrier.
Meanwhile, Cindy Eller is learning what it takes to be a Seraphine of Faerie, while her sister, Goldie Locke, struggles to keep what's left of her family alive and together.
Finally a sense of closure. Don't get me wrong I love this series and can't wait for the next chapter. Some of Goldies story was challenging to read. The poor girl went through so much.
Of course I am eager for Deathly Still which appears to be about Goldie and Donovan's daughter. I hope Goldie gets another story too. I'd like to see how she and Kodi move passed their past.
I don't usually like cross overs, but this one was done really well. I also wouldn't mind seeing other sisters get their own spin off. Especially the twins. I have a feeling their father would be fun now that he's on the loose. Iris needs some love too.
Elizabeth A. Reeves does a fantastic job wrapping up her Cindy Eller and Goldie Locke serieses with this crossover novel. Reeves rotates the point of view between the two sisters as the war for survival hits home for both of them.
Cindy is trying to come to terms with Timothy's actions from the previous novel. During the weeks that follows she finds comfort in making delicious treats in the castle kitchens. Each day, more and more refugees cross the border into Faerie. Her father is unwilling to choose sides in this latest political crisis. Can Cindy get over her self doubts in order to become the princess her people need?
Goldie is heart broken, pregnant, and tired. After walking hundreds of miles with her stepmother and sickly brother in tow, they finally reach Faerie. But not everything is as great as they hoped it would be. The fae are leery about all the magical creatures spilling across the border. To make matters worse, the Council of Magic back home is determined to make an example out of someone close to Goldie's heart. Can Goldie keep it together long enough to face a new set of challenges?
Overall, I loved both serieses. I'm sad to see the end of their stories, but am excited to see that there will be a spin off series. I can't wait to see what Elizabeth A. Reeves has in store for Goldie's daughter in Deathly Still.
I was anxious to read this book. It merges two of my favorite Elizabeth Reeves series together. Cindy Eller and Goldie Locke are forces to be reckoned with in this book. They are both fighting for the greater good of everyone. The council of magic has been corrupted and it is time to break the barrier between Faerie and the human world.
I loved seeing the sisters working together. I have enjoyed both series to this point and would love to see series with the other sisters in the future.
I had stretched book out as far & as long as I HUMANLY POSSIBLY COULD LOL... And the ending... WOOOOOOOW, IF you've ever read an Elizabeth Reeves book, you know she puts a little excerpt of the next or up coming book in it, well...... OH MY GOOOOODNESS, BE PREPARED.. WOW!! THANKS AGAIN ELIZABETH...
I feel like, unlike many series, each of these books gets better. The idea of a Goldie Locke/ Cindy Eller crossover was genius. The story itself was well written and full of suspense. I didn't feel like it was predictable at all. I've been surprised since book 3 of Goldie and book 4 of Cindy. I hope there are more to come.
Wow! A crossover story of Cindy & Goldie! Very action packed
I've been working my way through the Cindy Eller series, but not yet the Goldie Locke series. This book meets up in the middle of both series. It helps if you have read one or both series up to this point, but it's not absolutely necessary.
Good story, with lots of important activities. Enjoy the read!
I liked this book the best out of the series so far. I cried so much for everyone's loves lost. It was good to see the characters fleshed out more. Am looking forward to the next book.?
I love both series and was very excited to catch up with Goldie and Cindy in the same book. My only hope is that a lot of other characters get their own series, so I can read about them forever :)
This series started as fluff but with each book has become more substantial and thoroughly enjoyable. I would recommend reading the books of both series in tandem according to their release dates.
This series has a lot of familiar aspects as if the writer had read many of the same writers I had and cherry picked bits and pieces from all of them to incorporate them into her novels. Creatures and people names and ....well it was interesting how she wove them all together. The lover I was rooting for got the prize. A lot of loose ends were knit together. The abrupt introduction of things like pregnancy was a bit off putting.
Magic and Faerie are separated by a barrier created in an effort to keep the two separate. Sadly neither "world" can survive without the other. Who will survive?
I loved the going back and forth between Goldie and Cindy's point of view. I loved how the stories finally merged. Perfect crossover, with a good balance of heartbreak and action.
This was a good wrap up of the series however it ended with a cliff hanger for Cindy. I guess it is not the end of that series after all. The characters did develop more in this book and I liked the outcome.
Some areas did not seem to be developed enough and were just out of place.
I had a hard time with all the typos and need for editing. There were many times when I would have to reread and try and figure out what was supposed to be there.
I am not a fan of crossovers in the middle of the series, especially when you've had to read the other series just to understand one book. I may come back to this again, if I get to the Were Bear series.
The only real negative about this entry in the series, was the there was so much going on. That, along with the multiple POVs, could be difficult to follow. Definitely need to read the earlier books first. Not a good time to just jump in.
