This simply delightful story from watercolor artist Emily Lex encourages children (ages 4-8) to become exactly who God created them to be, living freely and lightly for Him.
“The birds sang their songs and the bees buzzed and the sweet scent of wildflowers filled the air. And Audrey and her friends twirled with all their hearts, freely and lightly, just the way God made them.”
Each of us have been exquisitely designed by God to receive his love and reflect it in our own one-of-a-kind, never-ever-to-be-duplicated way. Help your children celebrate their specialness as you share this sweet story about a girl who discovers the truth of who God made her to be, with a little help from her adorable animal friends.
Featuring original writing and watercolors from popular author and artist Emily Lex, Twirl is sure to become a family reading time favorite and a great way to dive in to deeper conversations with your kids about their unique place in God’s creation.
Oh the precious rarity it is to have my daughter take a pause in a book we’re reading together only to point out, “HOW CUTE” it is! She fell in love with every little detail of ‘Twirl’ by Emily Lex including Audrey girl in her striped dress, her adorable outdoor friends, their day out in the sun, the impressionable lesson learned from it by the end. Enraptured by it all, she went from smiling, to giggling, to twirling along herself! I can honestly say I loved this book just as much as my daughter did, seeing the joy and delight it brought by every single turn of the page. This one is gold!
The illustrations are beautifully done. And there’s truth in the message of the book. But in our current culture of unhinged expressive individualism, I’m afraid more care is needed—yes, even in (especially in) a children’s book. As adults read this to children, they can obviously add needed nuance. But it’s lacking in the book itself.
(5☆ Would recommend & would read again) Such a cute & encouraging story. I highly recommend this. It has cute characters & a great lesson. It also has repetition & great language words (verbs, adverbs, etc.) to help kids learn.
Subtle Christian message about how God made everything different, but just as he planned. I thought it was cute, and will appeal to all the little girls in your life who love to twirl in their dresses.
Possibly my new favorite children’s (or anybody!) book. I will read this to my Selah girl (who also loves to twirl!) forever and ever and ever! Bonus: it’s healing for MY soul too!
This book is delightful! It’s a sweet read with a powerful message about who God created us to be and how unique we all are. The illustrations are lovely too!
This is a very sweet book with amazing artwork. The story is encouraging..... makes me smile. My granddaughter likes it, she's 2, but it resonates with me too.
