Drake Savage era convinto di ciò che affermava, eppure la sua oscurità perversa cresceva all’infinito. Aveva deciso che non avrebbe mai più permesso alle sue emozioni di sopraffarlo, così come era avvenuto con Caia, quando era stato soggiogato e poi spezzato da quel profondo sentimento che aveva finito per provare per quella prigioniera.
«Non donerò mai più il mio cuore a nessun altro. Non permetterò a nessuno di avvicinarsi più al mio cuore nero».
Aveva ormai sepolto i suoi sentimenti per lei, insieme al penoso ricordo del suo corpo inerme e sanguinante su di se. Quelle immagini lo tormentavano ogni notte, ripetendosi nella sua mente, ma dopo averla cercata a lungo e non essere riuscito a trovarla, aveva deciso che mai più niente e nessuno sarebbe riuscito a scalfire la sua anima nera.
«Sono un Savage. Sono l’erede a un trono che non ho mai scelto. Mi è stato dato per forza, e anche se non lo avrei mai voluto, non ho scelta. Nel momento in cui mio padre ha esalato l’ultimo respiro, ho capito che non sarei comunque mai stato libero».
Suo fratello Dante e il suo migliore amico River erano per Drake l’unica consolazione da quel sistema corrotto e perverso che erano costretti a condividere.
Sin da quando erano piccoli tutti e tre erano finiti in un sordido percorso di autodistruzione, avevano attraversato le più oscure profondità della depravazione e si erano dovuti immergere in quel buio, senza poter scegliere: «Abbiamo provato piacere nel desiderio che ci stringeva l’uno all’altro. Dante era la mia salvezza, e come una cura io ero la sua medicina».
In Vendetta non c’è luce e neanche redenzione per nessuno dei personaggi. È un dark estremamente duro e forte, dai contenuti per adulti così come ha tenuto a precisare l’autrice.
Scioccante sotto tanti aspetti, di non facile lettura né accettazione, molte scene risultano essere agghiaccianti ed eccessivamente violente. La storia d’amore tra Drake e Caia fa da contorno ad un sistema perverso e deviato di vendita di esseri umani, dove l’orrore, il peccato e la distruzione ne rappresentano il fulcro.

5 bloody stars!
Let me start off my saying you have to read the prequel Stolen before even considering starting Severed. When I first heard about this author wanting to go dark I never expected any of this, this story swallowed me whole and I couldn’t to put my kindle down. The multiple POV’s provided throughout this book have you connecting with the characters more then you thought you could. Caia is a girl, a woman that is strong and a fighter even after all she has been through. Drake has been forced into a lifestyle that he cannot change yet is determined to fulfill his promises. The events that occur will leave you cringing and heart pounding all while having to turn the page to see what happens next. The details have the words jumping off the page and playing as a movie before your very eyes. Seeing where not only Caia and Drake but also River and Dante started to where they end goes to show you that there are things in life you need to accept and others that can be altered for you to continue forward. This story is not for the faint of heart and as the warnings have already been said I will reiterate once again, there are multiple triggers throughout so if you have limits make sure to take this into consideration before reading. I hope this isn’t the end for these dark and gruesome reads from this author. I hope there’s more in the future. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Make sure you read Stolen before you read Severed or you’ll be totally lost.
I am in awe of this author. Seriously can’t get enough of her writing. From the first page this author sucks me in until I’m truly drowning in her words. Each review I write I’m stumped. I just haven’t got the words to do this book the justice it deserves. I opened to read a few pages and next thing I know I’m sitting and cursing that it’s ended.
Stolen broke me. Drake and Caia broke me. Their lives were never normal. Now in Severed the story continues. My heart was literally thumping reads part of this story.
A must read who love their stories on the darker side.

Ahhhh che meraviglia! avevo bisogno di un bel libro "forte" e questa duologia mi ha conquistata!
è dark nel senso più puro del termine, crudo, violento, sanguinoso, promiscuo...ma è una lettura che mi ha letteralmente ipnotizzata! Dani Renè è stata geniale perchè è riuscita a farmi "innamorare" dei vari personaggi, che sono dei veri psicopatici, nessuno escluso, e a farmi gioire ogni volta che si prendevano una piccola rivincita!
5 stelle tutte meritate

Severed is bloody fantastic! A dark and wild ride from start to finish. I loved every brutal moment. Vengeance is one of my absolutely favorite things, and in this book, there is so much to atone for. It’s gruesome and perfect in every way. If you like dark romance, and I mean super, super dark, you can’t miss this book! I loved it and I can’t wait for more of these awesome characters.

Approda in Italia Dani René con una dilogia dark romance inquietante e a tratti horror, Drake e Caia ne sono i protagonisti. I libri sono stati pubblicati insieme e sono strettamente legati e quindi è indispensabile la lettura di entrambi. Unica e importante raccomandazione: solo per stomaci forti.
Drake Savage è finalmente a capo dell’organizzazione criminale che il padre aveva portato in auge, temuto e venerato ha ancora le schiave nei sotterranei della Villa ma è tutto un escamotage, un progetto più grande di vendetta per smascherare lo schifo della Società inglese che non sa come impiegare i suoi soldi se non nella più gretta perversione.

Riesce a ritrovare la sorella che aveva visto in uno di quei sudici video e a scoprire la verità che non avrebbe mai voluto sapere. Vendetta diventa la sua ossessione e solo con Drake potrà portarla a termine.

Se nel primo volume l’amore era quasi inesistente qua diventa un sentimento forte e difficile da contenere, il loro ricongiungimento è un momento catartico e gli innumerevoli colpi di scena che l’autrice ci fa vivere mi hanno fatto divorare il libro in poche ore.
E un ménage à trois a un certo punto e di facile previsione perché l’amico River deteneva già una parte del cuore di Drake e Caia l’aveva solo completato.
Il fratello Dante è la grande sorpresa, anche se un po’ in disparte perché Drake lo vuole proteggere, non ha niente da invidiare al fratello in astuzia e presenza scenica.
In conclusione, posso dire di aver apprezzato la dilogia nel suo complesso, l’autrice ha portato il dark a picchi inimmaginabili e per un’ amante del genere come me è stata un’incredibile sfida che ho accettato e portato a termine con soddisfazione.
Ma mi raccomando, leggetelo solo se veramente amate il dark più oscuro e perverso, perché è ciò che vi troverete davanti.

Drake es el hijo de Malcom Savage, un hombre que dirige una organización que se dedica al tráfico de personas. Drake encuentra que Caia es diferente a todas las demás chicas que han estado en el sótano, ya que siente que ella es fuerte y será difícil de romper. Se obsesiona con ella y su obsesión sólo crece con el tiempo, mientras que ella es torturada por otros.
La review de ambos libros necesitaba hacerla conjunta porque ambos libros tratan los mismos temas. Aunque “Stolen” es una novella no tiene nada que envidiar a “Severed”. “Stolen” al ser corto te deja con ganas de más pero inmediatamente al comenzar “Severed” se disipan. Ambas son oscuras y depravadas con un contenido difícil de digerir y no apto para todos. Sabía que era dark y ya sabía a qué atenerme, pero con el paso de las páginas se pone más intenso y dark.
Quiero ser el que la salve del mismísimo diablo aunque me mate. Quiero cortar el vínculo con él y que ella sea mía.
La historia de Drake y Caia tiene un mal comienza. Caia es la que se encuentra en un sótano mientras el padre de Drake planea usarla como un trozo de carne. Pero Drake abre los ojos, él es así porque su padre también hizo de las suyas con él y su mejor amigo.
“Severed” ya es tiempo después y este libro lo ame por las tramas el suspense la acción, era un cumulo de cosas que se ponía más interesante con el paso de las hojas.
"No, no eres el bueno, lo has dejado muy claro. Pero tampoco eres el malo. Estás en algún punto intermedio, y tal vez por eso no puedes aceptar esto".
¡Y qué decir de Dani René! Pues es una autora que definitivamente sabe cómo escribir los libros más dark que conozco, para mi es una de mis autoras dark preferidas. Con solo tres libros me ha hecho explorar un nuevo mundo que este año he conocido. Adicta a estos, comenzaré a leer más sus libros.

"Stolen" and "Severed" by Dani René are part of the series "The Taken Duet". Both books are dark erotic romance with abuse, crimes, and a lot of suspense. These are books for people who like the dark side and not those who are looking for a sweet story. Be warned.
Drake is Malcolm Savage's son, a man who runs a human trafficking organization. Drake finds that Caia is different from all the other girls who have been in the basement, as he feels that she is strong and will be hard to break. He becomes obsessed with her and his obsession only grows with time, while she is tortured by others.
I needed to do the Review of both books together because both books deal with the same topics. Although "Stolen" is a novella, it has nothing to envy "Severed". "Stolen" being short leaves you wanting more, but immediately when "Severed" starts, it dissipates. Both are dark and depraved with content difficult to digest, not suitable for everyone. I knew it was dark and I knew where I stood, but as the pages go by, it gets more intense and dark.
I want to be the one who saves her from the Devil himself even though it may kill me. I want to sever the link to him and have her be mine.
Drake and Caia's story has a bad beginning. Caia is the one in a basement while Drake's father plans to use her as a piece of meat. But Drake opens his eyes, he is like that, because his father also played with him and his best friend.
"Severed" is long overdue, and I loved this book because of the plots and suspense of the action, it was an accumulation of things that became more interesting with the passing of the pages.
“No, you’re not the good guy; you’ve made that abundantly clear. But you’re not the bad guy either. You’re somewhere in between, and perhaps that’s why you can’t come to terms with this.”
What about Dani René! Well, she's an author who definitely knows how to write the darkest books I know, for me, she's one of my favorite dark authors. With only three books, she has made me explore a new world that I have known this year. Addicted to these, I will start reading more of her books.

I was gripped from the first page right until the end. The writing leaves you gasping for another word, another page, another chapter. I just couldn't put the book down!
The writing is so engaging, the characters are so real and the story line so gripping. I loved even more how it's not just the main two characters which were well developed but all of the characters, for me this is always a winner and makes the book so much more engaging.
There are a lot of the characters thoughts and in depth ones at that. This meant I really got to know them, especially Drake, my opinion completely changed of him.
Dani is a fantastic author who I will definitely be reading more of and ensuring I don't miss any new books of hers. I am holding out for The Taken #2.
Final Thoughts
I wasn't sure what to expect from Severed after reading Stolen but I know if I had expected anything it would have gone way above my expectations! I was completely gripped by Severed.

Then, I finish Severed and am left with my jaw hanging wide open.
Yes, Severed isn’t as gory as Stolen, but don’t let that fool you. This book was still dark as F.
Dani René is a dark mastermind. The way she comes up with these stories just baffles me.
I was always intrigued by Drake and Caia ever since reading the short on the anthology released a few months ago, and was ecstatic when I heard these books were being made.
This book is dark, raw, gritty, revengeful, sexy, explosive, and unpredictable.
I honestly didn’t see it going the way it did, and I loved that.
We get to explore a new side of Caia and Drake that I didn’t get to think was possible. Not to mention the side characters in the story were perfection. Everyone added the perfect blend to this fucked up book.
New secrets are being unraveled, new threats are explored. The tangled web that are the Savage Brothers is one you will sucked into and have a hard time getting out.
I can’t wait to explore more into this world.

We have come to know Dani and her dark and dirty. Well this one is definitely DARK. And I loved it every step of the way. When dark and depraved things happen and you tend to want more, it makes you wonder what is going on. When things should have u hiding in shadows and squirming in your seat yet you keep going back for more. That's what this book does. You have to remember that the savior isnt always a white knight. Sometimes what comes is a dark horse. Sometimes being saved from one evil only throws you into an even hotter flame. There is something about these characters that makes you want to reach out and grab ahold of them. Cuddle and hold them and hope you don't get burned. Drake and River are both dark and mysterious. Both dark and depraved in their own ways. Drake has captured my dark heart tho. I can not wait to see what else happens. This book has left me in a state of both shock and what happens next. Dani definitely knows how to grip her readers and hold them captive awaiting her next words!!

I didn't know if this story could get better after reading Stolen, but it did. I haven't read a lot of books like these, but I can't put them down. Severed was amazing, and unlike anything that I have ever read. This is an extremely dark story, and the characters are just as dark. Dani did an amazing job with this book!

È un uomo spezzato, deviato, per colpa sua e delle cose che è stato costretto a fare ma, adesso il suo unico obiettivo dopo averlo ucciso è distruggere e fare a pezzi tutti i suoi soci, per potersi guardare di nuovo allo specchio, anche se non potrà mai dimenticare ciò che è stato costretto a vedere ma, per proteggere le persone che ama è disposto anche a sacrificarsi.

Drake è un protagonista si malato, ma con una grande voglia di riscatto e non solo con le parole, lui agisce e forte risoluto fermo nelle sue idee, sicuro di quello che vuole ma soprattutto rispettoso dei desideri degli altri, in fondo, ha l'animo buono, quello suo padre non e riuscito a spezzarlo, anche se è pieno di sofferenza, dolore e caos.
"Dovevo salvarla, ma in realtà è lei che ha salvato me. È diventata come un flusso infinito di eroina nelle mie vene."
Ho amato la sua forza e la sua determinazione a voler distruggere un sistema contorto e malato e il volersi prendere cura delle persone che più amava al mondo.
«Caia, le parole non sono altro che questo. Parole. Sono le azioni a parlare più forte di qualsiasi frase,» affermo.
«Forse,» sospira lei. «Ma ci sono anche parole in grado di guarire, e che offrono conforto in momenti in cui le azioni sono inutili.»
Caia ha una forza fuori dal comune, mi ha impressionata la sua determinazione, il suo coraggio, la sua voglia di riscatto e la sua sicurezza. Una donna ha cui hanno tolto tutto, ma lei ha avuto la forza di ricominciare e andare avanti.
Il suo migliore amico River e il fratello gemello Dante hanno vissuto insieme a Drake i momenti più bui e agghiaccianti della loro vita fatta di depravazione, oscurità e promiscuità.
Sono tre protagonisti segnati, con parecchi demoni ma pronti a crearsi un futuro migliore.
Li ho amati tutti senza nessuna distinzione, forti, determinati, ma soprattutto con una grande voglia di rivalsa, di amare ed essere amati.
Un libro che parla di orrori, violenza, tratta delle donne, sevizie, ci sono scene agghiaccianti, ma non puoi smettere, devi andare avanti e pretendere la vendetta che meritano i protagonisti e arrivi alla fine con la consapevolezza e la speranza che ci si può salvare anche dopo essere stati spezzati, basta solo essere forti e coraggiosi.
Devo fare i complimenti all'autrice, per essere riuscita a farmi innamorata di personaggi cosi oscuri e contorti, non capita spesso nella lettura di un Dark di stare dalla parte di menti cosi deviate, ma lei c'è riuscita.

Drake Savage è finalmente a capo dell’organizzazione criminale che il padre aveva portato in auge, temuto e venerato ha ancora le schiave nei sotterranei della Villa ma è tutto un escamotage, un progetto più grande di vendetta per smascherare lo schifo della Società inglese che non sa come impiegare i suoi soldi se non nella più insulsa perversione.
‘È stato il primo uomo a toccarmi e a farmi provare piacere invece che dolore. Drake Savage. Un caos di emozioni confuse mi afferra. Rabbia. Tristezza. Curiosità. E una più forte di tutte le altre e che dovrei soffocare: desiderio.’
Caia è un ricordo, un miraggio, lontana fisicamente ma non dal suo cuore e forte e indomita sta combattendo le sue battaglie sotto la violenza di un uomo senza scrupoli, William Thanos. Lui l’ha comprata e l’ha marchiata nel peggiore dei modi e anche se il colore dei capelli è cambiato ed è piena di tatuaggi che coprono le cicatrici è ancora la donna che non riesce a dimenticare quegli occhi di ghiaccio che nei suoi sogni tornano a farla vivere, a darle speranza, Drake Savage.
Riesce a ritrovare la sorella che aveva visto in uno di quei sudici video e a scoprire la verità che non avrebbe mai voluto sapere. Vendetta diventa la sua ossessione e solo con Drake potrà portarla a termine.

Se nel primo volume l’amore era quasi inesistente qua diventa un sentimento forte e difficile da contenere, il loro ricongiungimento è un momento catartico e gli innumerevoli colpi di scena che l’autrice ci fa vivere mi hanno fatto divorare il libro in poche ore.
E un ménage à trois ad un certo punto e di facile previsione perché l’amico River deteneva già una parte del cuore di Drake e Caia l’aveva solo completato.
Il fratello Dante è la grande sorpresa, anche se un po’ in disparte perché Drake lo voleva proteggere, non ha niente da invidiare al fratello in astuzia e presenza scenica.
In conclusione, posso dire di aver apprezzato la dilogia nel suo complesso, l’autrice ha portato il dark a picchi inimmaginabili e per un’ amante del genere come me è stata un’incredibile sfida che ho accettato e portato a termine con soddisfazione.
Ma mi raccomando leggetelo solo se veramente amate il dark più oscuro e perverso, perchè è ciò che vi troverete davanti.

Voyeur. Ecco come si sente il lettore di fronte a questo romanzo.
Certi passaggi sono agghiaccianti, eppure non si può fare a meno di proseguire la lettura in una sorta di dipendenza ipnotica.
Non c'è luce, non c'è redenzione. Solo un'oscurità torbida fino alla fine. Nonostante questo, Drake Savage ha quel qualcosa che ti entra dentro e ti conquista.
L'autrice è stata meravigliosa nel delineare queste atmosfere, non ha mai ceduto e si è mantenuta lineare per tutto il romanzo. Anzi, verso la fine ha spinto concedendo al lettore un vero e proprio giro sulle montagne russe. Un viaggio che vale la pena compiere.

E' difficile trovare un dark che mantenga le premesse. Succede spesso che per empatia verso il personaggio, per scelta dell'autrice, per tanti motivi, si scivoli verso la luce, o quanto meno si esca dall'ombra, verso una sorta di "redenzione" dei personaggi che li fa diventare se non buoni, socialmente accettabili. In questo libro non vi è nulla di tutto ciò. L'oscurità di Drake è torbida e perversa dall'inizio alla fine. Caia non è la sua salvatrice, nessuno dei due salva l'altro. Alcune scene sono fortissime, ti ghiacciano il sangue nelle vene e sono così vivide, così potenti, e nonostante il brivido della paura non puoi fare a meno di leggere. Assolutamente un capolavoro.

If you haven't read Stolen, you will not understand this book. Drake and Caia. Caia and River. River and Dante. These 4 had my head spinning. Dani lured me in yet again. Hook, line and sinker.

I most definitely liked this series.
Let's start with I usually do not like MFM books, but for some reason I kept reading this one, and I did like it. Dani René is well known for her dark and dirty books. And let me say this this one is definitely very DARK. And very important thing you must read “Stolen: The prequel” first in order to get this story. And then you won’t be surprised about all kinds of dark, twisted, gory things that may happen in this part. Yet despite all of that I loved this book every step of the way. “Severed” is a wild ride from start to finish and you will love every brutal moment of it. It’s not as gory as “Stolen” but don’t let that fool you because it’s still very VERY DARK. This part is focused on vengeance. It shows that savior won’t always come on white horse.
Sometimes he will come on a dark horse and being saved from one evil will result I throwing you into even hotter flame. But there is something about these characters that made me want to reach out and grab ahold of them. Drake and River are at the same time dark and mysterious, both depraved in their own ways. But at the same time Drake has the ability to capture every reader’s dark heart. I can’t wait to see what will happen next. Yet another book this year that left me in both state of shock and anticipation of what will happen next.
I am in constant awe of Dani and her writing. From the first page this author will suck you in her books and drown you in her words. This is definitely a must read for readers who love theirs stories more on the darker side.

Severed was a book that totally absorbed me, after reading Stolen I was desperate to know the outcome of the story. And Dani René did not disappoint when it comes to a broken couple more with repairs.
"Revenge, such a beautiful word, blood will be shed, I will bathe in it, soak in the metallic liquid because that is what they deserve." - Drake
Severed is an obscure story that aims at Revenge.
More from the beginning, there was a glimpse of goodness between Drake, Dante, and River, who, even through everything they passed, put an end to the filthy scum by which they were created.
Caia became my favorite young lady, even after descending to hell and standing side by side with devil, she did not redeem herself she grew up and became a warrior who even carrying scars on her crushed heart still found strength to continue for HIM and the his revenge.
Drake, my evil and favorite good-boy, even though I think that being broken apart from repair never gave up on his Light, and even with all that his world favored him, he got his two loves.
A story of brutality and revenge that has become strong between the Caia, Drake and River couples. Where love always conquers evil for worse.
This story will hold you to the end. Remember that it is an obscure reading and contains triggers.
If you have not read, you need to read Stolen - The Prequel to fully understand this plot.

RAPITA + VENDETTA recensione completa
Una dilogia dark, annunciata come estremamente dark, una storia che avrebbe dovuto coinvolgere il lettore e trasportarlo nei luoghi più oscuri delle menti malate, disturbate e moleste che avrebbero dovuto essere i protagonisti. Una storia che avrebbe dovuto lasciare il segno, far capire che dove c’è l’oscurità difficilmente ci può arrivare la luce, dove il cuore è solo un organo che pulsa e non prova emozioni, dove la redenzione è solo per i più temerari. Avrebbe dovuto, si. Perché questo, in me, non è avvenuto.
“Sono Drake Savage. E, come suggerisce il nome, sono un selvaggio. Ti fotterò al punto che nessuno potrà riconoscerti, nel fisico come nella mente. Ma preferisco la mente. Fottere la mente altrui è il mio forte. È l’unica cosa che voglio sempre fare alla perfezione. Per strisciarvi dentro, in quelle profondità dove nascondi le tue paure. È lì che mi troverai. Ed è lì che resterò fino al tuo ultimo respiro.”
Drake è il protagonista maschile principale di questa storia. Obbligato dal padre ad una vita fatta di sevizie, violenze e soprusi fin da piccolo. Insieme al suo gemello Dante e al suo migliore amico River. Non conoscono via di fuga, non conoscono altro che l’oscurità e da giocattoli sessuali diventano a loro volto coloro che useranno i giocattoli del padre per soddisfare le sue perverse voglie.
“Essendo la figlia di un noto multimiliardario, sono sempre rimasta confinata nelle rigide regole e decisioni di mio padre. Il suo volto è sempre sui giornali. Il suo nome viene menzionato online più volte di quante non ne riesca a contare. Dovrei sempre rigare dritto, ed è così che pensano che faccia. Nessuno sa che ho fumato uno spinello.”
Caia Amoretto viene rapita e rinchiusa nei sotterranei di Villa Savage. Come tante altre ragazze si ritrova in una cella, senza vestiti e ben presto senza dignità. Diventa la schiava sessuale del mostro, del padre di Drake, per poi essere venduta al miglior offerente. Fin da subito fa capire che la sua voglia di ribellarsi è più forte della resa. Verrà sottoposta a violenze e sevizie per essere così addestrata ad essere una perfetta sottomessa.
Drake e Caia dovranno affrontare un percorso oscuro, sia fisico che mentale per capire come mai le loro anime di sono adattate a questa vita. Non vogliono essere schiavi di questo potere che incombe su di loro ma non possono nemmeno farne a meno. Ormai ne sentono il bisogno e continuare a vivere nell’oscurità dona quella sicurezza che solo loro conoscono.
Di rimando, quando Drake ha la possibilità di capovolgere la sua vita e quella dei suoi fratelli, si ritrova a prendere in mano le redini di un impero che vuole smantellare per scappare finalmente da ciò che da sempre lo ha reso un mostro come suo padre.
Non sarà facile compiere la missione ma Caia capisce che dietro all’oscurità di Drake c’è qualcosa che può renderla felice anche se questo vorrà dire soffrire e non tornare più alla sua vecchia vita.
“Domani, darò inizio al mio regno di distruzione e molto presto libererò da questa vita sia lui che Dante. Con un po’ di fortuna, anch’io riuscirò a salvarmi. Non fraintendetemi. Non uccido persone innocenti. No. Elimino coloro che hanno fatto del male. Con la lista di contatti che ho ottenuto, non potranno sfuggire a me. Non indosso maschere, perché ho trascorso l’intera infanzia a nascondere le mie vere emozioni.”
Arrivata alla fine della lettura del prequel, RAPITA, ho iniziato a farmi della domande sulla storia. L’autrice inizia a introdurre il lettore nel racconto facendogli conoscere i personaggi che saranno le colonne portanti di questo romanzo. La fine di questa introduzione lascia il lettore a bocca asciutta perché la storia vera e propria inizierà nel secondo romanzo VENDETTA. In questo continuo i personaggi assumeranno delle nuove vesti, da cattivi ad angeli della pace. La storia continuerà a ruotare intorno alle loro vite per arrivare ad un finale quasi scontato.
Ho trovato questi romanzi abbastanza forzati. La storia è raccontata in modo quasi elementare senza un lessico particolarmente forbito e il più delle volte le descrizioni violente passano per sgradevoli, quasi ridicole. Per quanto riguarda i luoghi e la posizione geografica non ho trovato riscontro per poter far prendere vita al racconto nella mente. La storia ha delle lacune non solo descrittive ma anche i dialoghi non trovano il giusto appiglio e da lettrice mi hanno lasciata orfana di quel pathos che di solito si viene a creare dal batti e ribatti dei personaggi.
Non ho sentito emozioni tra i protagonisti e gli antagonisti. Drake e Caia si ritrovano in un rapporto freddo e scontroso che nel giro di poche righe si trasforma in sentimento. Drake è un’anima oscura e non si capisce come mai a tratti il suo personaggio passi dall’essere un mostro all’essere un salvatore. Non è riuscito a trasmettermi quell’emotività che avrebbe dovuto coinvolgermi nelle sue scelte e nel suo cambiamento. Caia da vergine innocente seviziata e violentata passa lei stessa ad essere violenta non per riscattarsi ma per il piacere di sentirsi così. Non c’è un passaggio che mi fa capire quanto abbia sofferto nell’anima e non solo sul suo corpo. Questi personaggi non sono riusciti a scuotermi e a farmi provare quella crudezza e quella durezza che mi aspetto da una storia dark perché li ho trovati confusi e incerti.
Un dark romance che secondo il mio pensiero non trova una giusta collazione romance. La storia d’amore non sempre è interpretata come tale e anche nei momenti in cui si trasforma in un triangolo amoroso non trova riscontro. Drake, Caia e River si ritrovano amati e si riduce il tutto agli atti sessuali fini a se stessi. Non coinvolgono il lettore in quel turbine che dovrebbe portarlo a sospirare a farsi partecipe delle scene descritte.
Alcune parti scritte nel prequel sono riportate anche nel secondo romanzo, come ricordo di quello che era successo. Questa scelta ha dato noia alla lettura perché rileggere delle scene già lette non mi hanno portato quella curiosità che mi aspettavo dalla storia.
Anime spezzate che non trovano il giusto punto di ritorno. Odio e amore che a volte non trovano il giusto equilibrio. Una storia d’amore che non profuma di emozioni. Personaggi che cercano di vivere una vita che gli è stata tolta. Un mix dolce amaro che non mi ha convinta.
Tutto ciò è ovviamente il mio pensiero che non condivide le scelte dell’autrice ma che le rispetta in quanto tali. Non posso però ritenermi soddisfatta da quanto le aspettative mi avevano dato.

You have to read stolen before you can read Severed or your not going to understand at all what is going on. Saying that Severed picks up right where Severed left off...well maybe four years into the future but it feels like it takes off right where if left off. Your not going to get much of the story line from me I think this book is best experienced with as little as possible known about the story. I will say that I love me some Drake and River and Caia. This is where they get what they have coming for them and the people who have wronged them are going to pay. I loved this book. It is dark and gory and will push your limits but the pay off is so worth it. You do not want to miss this book if you love dark books that push your boundaries

If you haven’t read STOLEN, the prequel to SEVERED yet, please read no further. You’ll need that background first; otherwise you’ll be utterly lost in this dark, violent world Dani Renée created. This author frightens me … she was not joking when she said she would go dark – or rather, pitch black. The blackest of black I have dared to read so far. Gory. Twisted. Gruesome. Brutal. Having a strong stomach is clearly advised.
This book was SO needed after the way things ended in the prequel – I needed to know that Caia and Drake – I’m still not sure how much I like him, lol – could at least somewhat escape the horrors they were tangled up in. The prequel nearly broke me. So, naturally, I inhaled this book – well, apart from the pauses I needed to take a breather from that darkness that is …
That being said, this one is a tad bit lighter than STOLEN, but make no mistake: You’ll cringe and gasp and be blindsided a time or two. This complete story was an unpredictable tangled web of lies, intrigue and deceit. Revengeful, gritty and explosive.

Explosive conclusion!
After reading Stolen I was a freaking mess waiting to read Severed!
Severed was everything I expected from a Dani Rene book but she gave even more!
I loved seeing the journey and the more in-depth look into the lives of
Drake,Dante,River and Caia. Yes I said seeing because Ms. Rene’s words come to life and pop out of the pages creating an experience I can practically feel!
This book is told in several POV which was outstanding because I got to know what’s was going on in everyone’s head and their thought process.
As far as the characters go I loved them!
For me there was no way not to love the three main men,especially Drake,even though they did horrible things. They were brought up to be desensitized and to have no shock value.
They are what they are because of the people around them. They are the product and the equation of what their environment taught them.
And the women omg they are some rocking ladies!
Caia is one tough strong determined young lady,I absolutely loved her!

I have been squealing like a kid in a candy store from the moment I read Stolen because I was hoping and praying that Dani will blow my mind. And she DID! SHE SO DID!
This has to be one of Dani's best dark romance till date. Severed picks up from Stolen with answering so many questions and also delving deeper into the psyche of the characters. The story is blood red DARK, gritty, horrible (in the best way possible) and still, in true Dani fashion, she gives us the romance that only she can give. Caia and Drake have been browbeaten to an inch of their souls with darkness, but still, the spark when they come together makes their love rise from the depth of despair. My jaw has been on the ground with all the twists and turns Dani has weaved in this story, and even after finishing, I am still trying to process the beauty that is Severed.
This is one book that I would highly recommend to any and all lovers of dark romance because this is a story that shouldn't be missed!
