Yu Hua loses his job, and the weight of the household falls on the shoulders of his partner, You Zhengping.
His husband is a temporary employee at the subdistrict office, with a monthly salary of only 2500; this troubles Yu Hua exceedingly.
You Zhengping is secretly engaged in the work of protecting the world from Destroyers, with a rather liberal subsidy.
You Zhengping spends all day fretting: how can he tell Yu Hua that he has a few million in private savings without giving anything away?
Right up until the day that You Zhengping receives a notice that a power great enough to destroy the world has appeared in his home.
Worried that something will happen to Yu Hua, an ordinary person, You Zhengping hurries home with his team. Once through the door, he sees a peaceful home, Yu Hua wearing an apron, a lifted frying pan in his hand, and a fish, golden on both sides and its aroma wafting around, frying in the pan.
Seeing You Zhengping, Yu Hua puts the frying pan on the switched-off electric stove and wipes his hands on his apron. “I wanted to save on the electricity bill.”
You Zhengping: …
The entire world’s most awesome Destroyer is his husband.
This was a ride. I honestly don't know what to say right now...
This book wasn't otherworldly amazing or anything, you can clearly point out where it's lacking and where the author just applied the "protagonist power" rule a lot, but you simply couldn't even stop reading. It kept pulling at you, probing, urging you to not put it down and continue to live out this journey of the two Melancholy Husbands till the end. I laughed and teared up and bit my nails reading this. I loved every single character I never once loved everyone in a book this much without hating even the bad ones. (Was there anyone bad to begin with? Bad was very subjective in this novel.)
If you want something very meticulous you will see the flaws in this book, but if you just want to enjoy reading about all these people and their experiences, laugh and cry, then you'll definitely love it! I personally did.
alright that was so fun. and hilarious af. I loved how fleshed out the side characters (studio members) were. I loved them and their shenanigans sm, i love me a good found family. Maybe some of the plot went over my head, possible plot holes here and there but I wasn’t really bothered. melancholy hubbies with secret superpowers on opposing sides - sign me up.
This system-based danmei was a really great read, and I had heaps of fun being in this world with these characters. I had just enough qualms with it to not be a higher rating, but nonetheless, I had a good time with this story.
The premise: secretly OP husbands keeping their true identities from each other work on opposite sides to protect the world from the System that continuously sends levelers, "Destroyers," from other worlds to attack. Yu Hua, the strongest leveler to have "left" the System and is near god-like in his abilities, hides in plain sight as a humble househusband to You Zhengping, who by nature of his job is Yu Hua's natural enemy. You Zhengping is a Protector, whose duty is using his special abilities to protect the world from the invading Destroyers that the System sends. Should these husbands discover each other's secret identities, their peaceful, mundane daily married life facade may come crumbling apart entirely.
Yu Hua: perfectionist, controlling, yet loving and faithful husband who only wants a peaceful, quiet existence on this world away from the System
Yu Hua looked at You Zhengping and thought, How can he always ruin my plans? When he had decided to go to the end of his life alone, taking the System's power to the grave, You Zhengping had appeared in his life, evoking the idea of dating and marriage in Yu Hua; when he had arranged their first date, You Zhengping had crushed this plan under the wheels of his trendy motorbike; when he had prepared a perfect proposal, You Zhengping had dragged him to the Bureau of Civil Affairs to obtain a marriage license; when he had decided to oppose the System alone, You Zhengping once again disturbed his flawless plan.
Xiao You was the assembly of all the accidents in his life.
You Zhengping: messy, brash, clumsy, and bold yet soft and loving toward his perfect husband, also only wants a peaceful, safe world in which he can go home to his husband's delicious homemade dinner
The deeper his understanding of Yu Hua, the more clearly You Zhengping realized that his love at first sight for Yu Hua originated in attraction at his innermost being, originated in the prompting of instinct. A person like this, imperfect, full of little shortcomings that couldn't detract from his inner strength--You Zhengping loved Yu Hua's good qualities, but it was his shortcomings he found adorable.
The positives:
-The overall premise of secret hidden identities between a married couple who only want a peaceful life with each other was entertaining and fresh, and watching Yu Hua, an all-powerful being, damn near lose his mind trying not to expose his slowly unsealing abilities and reveal his identity prematurely to his husband and the other Protectors was funny.
-I love this author's writing, and I'm excited to pick up more of their work. It's straightforward, refreshing, decently paced, humorous, and every character (even side characters) is fully fleshed out and three dimensional.
-Every side character gets lots of attention, especially all of the "destroyers" who become allies eventually and work with Yu Hua and Zhen Li's studio. Each character has their own personality, they get backstory and development, and they all had interesting and unique special abilities.
-The romance element between Yu Hua and You Zhengping was wholesome, very sweet, and really hit on those "old married couple" vibes. They truly just wanted to protect the little, mundane peaceful life they crafted together, despite all the secrets between them and the pressures from their circumstances to make them natural enemies. The way these two speak to and speak of each other held so much tenderness, respect, and genuine love and made it abundantly clear how much they supported each other despite their flaws and shortcomings.
The negatives:
-This book is rather long-winded. Not only is it about 1400 pages (122 chapters and 3 extras), but a lot of those pages could have been cut down. I'd argue almost halved, to be honest. There's quite a bit of repetition in the beginning chapters as the author is trying to establish their sense of humor and the comradery between You Zhengping and his squad of Protectors--lots of scenes of just office humor, the boys being boys hanging out and making jokes. As the plot develops, there's often over-explanations of abilities or System-specifics that could have been more concisely written.
-Formulaic, and at times predictable. Any time a new Destroyer enemy appears, it follows a similar script to the previous instance. Although each Destroyer is unique in character and ability, you quickly learn that every enemy that appears will soon be instantly humbled by Yu Hua's god-like powers and his uncanny ability to bend (threaten) every one of them to become his subordinate (employee). Although this employment contract with Yu Hua is inevitable for almost every single Destroyer that enters their world, just knowing that that would be their fate was actually pretty funny.
-The System specifics got very meta and convoluted by the end chapters. I've definitely seen this before, when you bend the laws of physics, spatial physics, time traveling, and incorporating other worlds, it gets difficult to keep that clear image of what's going on and trying to muddle out any sort of logic. I've found that it's best to glaze through these chapters, to not try too hard to make sense of them, and that works for me XD
-The second-to-last arc felt so much more "final" than the final arc, especially as it deals with a huuuuuge thousand-year separation (via time travel) between Yu Hua and You Zhengping following a multi-part massive battle with not just one, but five Destroyers that the System sent simultaneously. In comparison, the final arc felt anti-climactic, and the wide range of the Protectors abilities that were used in the second-to-last arc are not used at all in the final arc. Even You Zhengping kind of disappears from the final arc, even though he apparently was off doing something equally as important as Yu Hua.
-The secret identities and who knew what about whom were so difficult to keep track of. Not only do Yu Hua and You Zhengping keep their identities hidden from each other, the more characters that are added on, the more secret identities the two have to assume and switch between. It got nearly impossible to keep track of what each character knew of every other character, and at some point it actually got to be irrelevant. In a very late chapter, one Destroyer (Yuan Luori) discovers the true identity of a Protector (Cen Xiao), but by the point the hidden identity was practically useless and didn't serve narrative function or have any consequences for the secret having been revealed. This maybe could have been smoothed out, but I won't lie, it added to the chaos and shenanigans. It was just messy to keep track of.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. Yes it was long, and much of it could have been condensed, but the characters and the world really drew me in. Yu Hua's ultimate goal of protecting the little life he waited thousands of years to build with his beloved You Zhengping was so endearing that I couldn't help but root for him, even when his dark side showed.
Today has been another trifling, mediocre, peaceful day.
I liked this a lot and I would've given it 5 stars if not for the final maybe 20% of the novel. I felt that the story was going really smoothly up to that point, when the author decided to throw in another plot twist and made everything much more convoluted. Or maybe that's just me being lazy, because this book required my brain to WORK. There were a lot of scientific terms and concepts and at one point, it made my head spin.
Nevertheless, the ending was satisfactory and Yu Hua (MC) and his husband, You Zhengping (ML) managed to live a peaceful life. I would say that the MC isn't someone particularly pleasant to get along with and he doesn't think along the lines of normal human beings because he's been alive for thousands of years, so some of his decisions really frustrated me. But I like flawed characters and YH was *majorly* flawed. He wasn't a cookie cutter protagonist.
Well, I mean he didn't make any mistakes and he was really powerful. But YH was controlling and rather manipulative and in short, he was considered an asshole but only to his "colleagues". It was really fun to read YH's thought processes as he dealt with the trifles in life though.
Even so, I did really like his relationship with his husband. They were a perfect match and complemented each other. They were also real sweet on each other, feeding everyone else in the novel dog food. That was mad entertaining and I appreciated the fact that the author didn't cause any unnecessary misunderstandings between the two of them.
The side characters were really notable too, especially Zhen Li and Lian Yufan for me. I liked most of the side characters and thought that they provided more depth and dimension to the story, making it more complete. It was a very fun journey to see all of them change for the better under YH's tyrannical power from being the Human Resources director.

Yu Hua loses his job and his husband You Zhengping becomes the sole breadwinner, placing strain on their harmonious, loving relationship. Also placing strain on their relationship: unbeknownst to each other, Yu Hua is a traveller from other dimensions who is concealing his immense powers, and You Zhengping is part of a secret superpowered protection organisation!
The two do many silly things to try to avoid revealing their identities to each other while Earth falls under attack from a succession of Destroyers, sent by the same System that Yu Hua once defeated.
This is one of those really fun meta gaming type c-novels, with such a great sense of humour and a really loving relationship between the leads. Yu Hua is the mildest sweetest most domestic of husbands when with You Zhengping - but put him in any other context and he's an absolute tyrant!
So much of the comedy comes from their respective workplaces, especially the new business that Yu Hua sets up as a money laundering front but which swiftly takes off as an unusual livestreaming studio. All the employees are former Destroyers or undercover Protectors, and Yu Hua relentlessly bullies them all without using any of his powers, just his incredibly slippery HR manager skills. It's such an incredibly on point satire of a dysfunctional workplace, and the hapless employees are all such funny, unique characters.
i've been reading nothing but danmei these days and thankfully none of them has been disappointing so far, including this one. love how both MC & ML are leading such a happy & sugary sweet married life despite their hidden identity which is the core point of the story. the side characters are actually given enough life & wit to make the whole journey easier to enjoy, and while the plot nearing the end got too heavily convoluted for my taste with its lengthy description of foreign concept regarding the System, world law & natural law, it's still a very much solid read particularly for the lovely & healthy depiction of the central relationship between MC & ML. and it's not often we get an overpowered MC who's cunningly smart & manipulative to some serious extent, for which i think it deserves a major part on the read, i'm honestly curious about his past journeys and how he came to be the way he is right now and would love a more meticulously detailed story for it. overall's an entertaining read nonetheless. i'd miss the studio gang so badly, they were the life of this webnovel for real!
A fun, hilarious story about two husbands trying to live a normal and mundane life while having to hide from the other that they possess superpowers - and that these powers place them on opposite ends of a brewing war between Destroyers (transmigrators) and Protectors (indigenous dwellers).
The interaction between the MC and ML was quite sweet and wholesome, they managed to communicate quite well despite all the secrets between them. Have to say that the humor with all the mistaken and secret identities is what made reading this so fun!
It did feel a little anticlimactic at the end, and I'm not sure what the Extra chapters provided, but still an overall fluffy and interesting read!
dnf’ed @ 23%: "The peaceful life I imagined was black and white," Yu Hua said warmly towards the wig. "I have a premonition that if I miss my chance with you, I'll lose my only opportunity for a life full of color."
this one hurts, it really does :’)
explanation: i woke up from an accidental nap…thought about the fact of having to continue this book….felt a literal ache in my chest….got sad because the transmigration trope here has to be my most favorite of the few danmei i’ve read that has it (which feels like a curse tbh), but the biggest difference those other danmei novels have compared to this one (and there’s only been two….) is that i vastly cared so much for the romance, that my apathy for yu hua & you zhengping’s marriage really can never compare.
another piece of my sadness comes from the fact i did get a new favorite character, zhen li….he’s so dumb and lovable, and honest in his intention, he’s such a gem in this story full of manipulative characters. his identity as a Destroyer puts him at odds with practically everyone, but luckily he has his growing internet fanbase to lather him with the love he deserves. he also has great fashion sense, and was implied to have no attraction to people in general (so im claiming him as part of the aspec community!!)
the big thorn that overshadowed the good parts of this story was unfortunately too much to ignore. the secret identities trope—no matter the proper logic of it—was unbearable after only 10 chapters or so, and there’s over 100 in this story, so no :’)
also felt so apathetic about the main couple, it literally pained me. maybe in the future i’ll return to this….
as that thought fills me with great sadness, i leave you with the stupidest scene ive ever read, but rivals shakespeare in theatrics so much, it could be considered genius. the little context i’ll give is that zhen li has just been told to disfigure his face to appease yu hua’s husband’s supposed jealousy of his good looks, and yu hua himself asks this of him, which was….yeah.
Zhen Li pointed to his own face. "Do you know how many years I've loved it? Ever since I've had an appreciation for beauty, l've loved it, cherished it, taken all kinds of pains to protect it. Even when I got into the car accident, I only thought of protecting it. I love it so much, why would it leave me?”…
"Wait, let me take this slowly." The elderly man screwed his finger in his ear and said in astonishment, "What do you love?"
"My face, of course," Zhen Li said, sobbing. "I don't love men, and I don't love women, either (!!!!!! aspec green flag). I only love the hundreds of thousands of clothes in my wardrobe, and this face, which is worthy of those clothes. I don't want to hurt other people. Why am I so unlucky?"
He hiccuped drunkenly, calculated his running speed, and took a few steps towards a far off tree trunk. He got into a running-up posture aimed at the tree trunk.
"What are you even doing?????”
"I have to part from my beloved, use it to memorialize my new life," the intoxicated Zhen Li said expressively. "Since ancient times, gratitude and loyalty have forced people to make hard choices. If you keep to one, you can't keep to the other. Hic! | can't say more, if I say more the alcohol will wear off. Without the courage of alcohol, how can I accomplish this arduous task?"
He backed up a step and ran towards the big tree as fast as he could.
spoiler: the “elderly man”, otherwise known as yuan luori (it’s a disguise) stops him from running into the tree.
i honestly had different expectations for who this guy would be, but this new character also quickly became a new favorite. if i could have a story focused solely on those two and their antics, it would mean the whole world to me. but sadly, despite being my birth month, im just as unlucky as zhen li, it seems.
ngl, i do think cyan wings probably could have stood to cut this down a little? but i had fun all throughout so who am i to criticize the spirit that inspired a thousand pages of dog food, secret identity shenanigans and (least importantly) plot
This is such a fun romp! Speical powers! Identity porn! Immortals (or something something)! It has very SCI Mystery team dynamics feels, it’s silly and over-dramatic, sometimes stupid, and it cheerfully ignores things like basic laws of physics and, you know, common sense. The language is often pointedly childish (which I think goes with the comedy genre), the author’s chapter endnotes made me giggle and snort a lot. At times I raised my brows at what must be culturally appropriate comments and reactions but that felt very very weird to my Western self. I’m glad I happened to see the article about Unlimited Flow because it cleared up quite a lot…
This was my first foray into the sprawling genre of Chinese webnovels based on the idea that we live in an endless video game where life-and-death obstacles and antagonists are sent to confront us for no apparent reason. To me, this is a Kafka-esque, gaming-influenced satire on contemporary society, especially Chinese society, in which kids are forced into competitive environments at an early age with no end in sight. I imagine that such novels can be deadening in an existential dread sort of way, but this one is quite fluffy, and I enjoyed reading it a lot.
Part of the levity comes from the fact that our main character, Yu Hua, is ridiculously OP; the main conflicts in the story are romcom in nature. Another reason is the episodic structure of the story: the System (our antagonist) has to (for various reasons) introduce "bosses" in increasing difficulty level for our protagonists to defeat. This creates the same episodic rhythm you'd find in any number of "monster of the week" TV series. There was, however, an effective melancholy streak conveyed through Yu Hua's loneliness and isolation (he is so OP that his only peer, really, is the System itself). His humanization via his love for You Zhengping provides much of the warmth of the story.
Again, this is a light read. Part of the story involves Yu Hua forcing the conquered System "bosses" to adapt to the human world and earn their keep by pretending to be social media influencers. There are reams of text representing the imagined comments of hysterical influencer fans; this is all comedic fluff, amusing enough to breeze through. I found myself impatient during the penultimate arc, in which Yu Hua and You Zhengping are forced to "relive" Yu Hua's formative experiences. I knew that this arc was needed to give the story some gravity and that our main couple was going to end up stronger together because of it, but for some reason the artificiality didn't work for me here. That said, all in all, an entertaining, surprisingly touching light read.
I couldn't stop reading this even during my midterms. I feel very sad now that I've finished it. I'm rating this 5 stars for the level of enjoyment and comedy it brought! The only con I can think about is that it kind of dragged during the mystery black-cloaked man arc. Lots of investigations and keeping secrets, but still very funny!
You Zhengping and Yu Hua have the type of steadfast and unwavering romance I love reading. The level of adoration they have for each other is heartwarming, not to mention the . It's very subtle how the author changed the power dynamic between them. As Yu Hua unsealed more of his powers, he became more of the dominant one in the relationship.
Plus points also for the OP settings of Yu Hua. I was so starstruck when his The suspense of when he'll reveal himself is written so well, and the big reveal is equally worth it! I just wish his All that's left is for them to live until their hands are wrinkled.
Reminds me of Guardian (by Priest) in several ways - the main couple's respective backstories and personalities; the mix of obsession/possessiveness and soft domesticity in their dynamic; the ensemble cast, each with unique abilities and different motivations - but the background lore is that of an infinite flow novel. That makes this appropriate for this stage of my continued descent into danmei, since I've recently finished reading three big titles in that genre.
I didn't know about the lore going in, though. I just thought the premise sounded interesting, and I knew I liked this author's writing based on another book that I read on recommendation. This one has much more ambitious worldbuilding than They All Say I've Encountered A Ghost, but where there is humour, it's still good, and where the story heads into angsty territory, the sense of pathos comes through. I was really rooting for You Zhengping and Yu Hua (Misters You and Yu of the title) to get the peaceful life they wanted.
I do think there are some pacing issues and some of the secondary characters were not really interesting to me, so there were stretches when I wanted to get back to the leads. But overall, this is a fun and touching read.
今天,也是琐事繁多、庸庸碌碌、平静无波的一天。 Today has been another trifling, mediocre, peaceful day.
This book shall have a special place in my heart forever.
Yes, yes, I spent the last 22 hours reading this novel from cover to cover and also sneaked in a 5 hour nap in between those 22 hours. I really debated if I should rate this four or five stars but honestly, what the hell. Five stars. Is it perfect? No. Could this have been shorter? Yeah. Would I change this book for a "better" version of this book? Nope. I've decided I would keep this book in my heart forever, even with its flaws because it truly was able to provoke a sense of a life worth living. I stared at my laptop and thought "I'm so grateful that I was born in an era where I could read this" and then stared at the wall for a while. It's hard to convey my feelings about this book without going into my own personal life, but I truly, truly understand the feeling of loneliness and weariness, of the feeling where you just want to live a normal, uncomplicated life. I will keep reading Qing Se Yu Yi's extremely strong protagonists and make sure I don't die from their work because honestly? The competence kink goes so strong. I also hope for more trifling, mediocre, peaceful days in my life.
I w ten sposób tworzy swoje książki. To raczej nadnaturalne okruchy życia połączone z budowaniem firmy i przypadkowymi atakami Destroyersów. Hm...
Tonally, it feels just like a shounen story with a higher than usual percentage of tooth-rotting fluff between the two leads. There's a lot of comedy, shounen villains-of-the-week dealt with in sudden powerups that still feel very tonally authentic in a Jojo-way, and great characters. It's high-quality both as a danmei story and a shounen story.
Not only do the leads have a good relationship, but the side characters are also very entertaining too, which is very good for keeping up a good variety of jokes and preventing them from becoming dry. I especially like Zhen Li, the brainless beauty who just wants to collect pretty outfits and also has a good heart inside of him.
The running (serious and by the protagonist side) usage of "ideological education" in the story does rub me the wrong way, though, since in real life it's the Chinese state government's attempts to brainwash people it doesn't like, not the basis of moral knowledge the author thinks it is.
AAAAAAAAAAAAA BEST BOOK IVE READ THIS YEAR AND FOR REAL THIS TIME. Cyan Wings is officially my most favourite author. I LOVE THE PLOT AND THE CONCEPTTT, LOVE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND THE HUMOUR IN THIS BOOK. EVERYTHING IN THIS BOOK IS SOOSOSOSOSOOSOS GREAT.
Especially the fucking characters!!!!!! Cyan Wings's characters always had one that is actually easy to be loved, but especially this book. The studio gang and the protectors are both charming in their own way. And oui oui, of course You Zhengping and Yu Hua are in another level. They are (inserting a thousand stars out of 5). ((((Especially Huan Zixu and Zhen Li my beloved /ehe/ /maybe i have a type)))
All the scientific related business is also very good and funny at the same time. As an engineering student myself all the science related plot is so interesting to read. Literally... This book has everything i love.
Anywayyy this is seriously 5/5. holy shit. Best thing i ever encounter in my life.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Do not underestimate a man's level of pettiness! The amount of hell Yu Hua raised over one (1) pair of pants was awe-inspiring and dumbfoundedly hilarious lmao.
I also loved the author's notes at the end of most chapters. Too funny!
The comedy in here was pure gold. The difference people acted before and after knowing the truth, the more they dug their own graves before finding out the truth, the way they watched their life flash before their eyes after knowing the truth, the way they watched and tried to prevent other people from unknowingly digging their own graves, and the way people obliviously skirted death had me laughing my head off throughout the entire novel.
pros: really sweet mc and ml with an adorable and healthy dynamic, memorable and pretty fleshed out side characters that are easy too remember and tell apart despite there being quite a lot of reoccurring ones, the pacing and plot were both well done, translation and writing style were good, originally thought it could end up being a bit boring since the mcs were already in an established relationship but the entire secret identities etc didnt let that happen!
cons: around the start it felt a bit bland at some point which wasnt necessarily bad but just didnt make me feel like i HAVE to keep reading but thats about it, maybe the 21 and 3000+ age gap when they originally meet in case that makes anyone uncomfortable! (officially their age gap is only 2 years tho)
Dropped 70% (chap 85)way through 4 stars in the first 40% dropped to 3 stars for the remaining bits k read
So the first 60 chapters were rlly good I loved reading about the couple and also loved YH interaction with his studio members - it was rlly funny
However the author rlly dragged on the “final battle” and I gave up cus it was too boring for me I remember skipping 10 chapters and then skipping another 10 chapters to see if the battle ended but then I also obviously got confused (my fault) since I didn’t read the parts. It was a shame because I enjoyed the first half but I could not force myself to finish it off. Maybe I’ll come back to it who knows
Also I loved Yh attitude it was lowkey kinda cute to see how he interacted with his hubby
I've only read two of Cyan Wings' works, the first one I ended up loving and the second was more eh. This time I did enjoy it, but there was a section of the novel where the science of the universe fully lost me, and it was like a whole arc so you know several chapters of being confused as hell. But the worldbuilding and the plot were intriguing as always even though the extras after the main story sorta left a bad taste in my mouth. The MC and the ML were also personable and felt like characters with actual personality traits which is always good to have. All in all, I would say it was definitely an enjoyable novel, just have to shut off your brain for a couple of chapters midway through the book lol
I LOVE IT THEY'RE SO DOMESTIC AND LOVELY 🥺 Ngl I thought this would be a slice of life modern danmei but I couldn't be more wrong lmao. Fortunately the surprise of my wrong assumption makes reading it more enjoyable. All the characters in this danmei are well developed and so human; they seems too real if you can ignore the . My personal favorite is Huan Zinxu! He is so sly, calculating, materialistic, and so so petty 😂 Everytime he clashed with Yu Hua is the highlight of my reading experience. Yu Hua and You Zhengping gave me all warm feelings and butterflies; I mean, I want a relationship like theirs please!!
It was pleasantly surprising, I found myself invested in it. The middle felt kinda slow to me and I definitely think it could have afforded to be shorter, but I think the ending makes up for what the middle was lacking. There was a lot, and I mean A LOT of domestic fluff, but it also never felt like it was taking away from the plot? I also liked the fact that it had an already established couple, so even though it is very much a love story it's a bit different from other stuff I've read. Also, because it's supposed to be a comedy, there were some things that I'm willing to overlook for the sake of comedy.
We all love a good love story, where the couple's every important moment is seen by us. But you know what is even better? Husbands from the first page. Fluff in abandon. Enough sugar and dogfood to make us full.
You Zhengping is a secret superhero, a Protector. His job is to oppose the Destroyers, the villains, who come from who knows where from time to time, have special powers, and who threaten the safety of their world and the ordinary citizens such as Yu Hua, his husband.
Yu Hua used to be the most powerful Destroyer throughout all the worlds. Now he spends his happy retirement doing housework, cooking for his beloved You Zhengping, just being in peace. That is, until part of his sealed off power activates suddenly and he has to be careful not to hurt his ordinary human husband.
This is the superhero book with showbiz elements, underestimated protagonists and domestic fluff you always needed. And the fan translation is one of the best I've ever read.
Yu Hua : a man obsessed by a pair of pants. The relationship between Yu Hua and You Zhengping was hilarious, as was Yu Hua's overpowered pettiness. It was also very sweet. The comedy was superb - a joke you'd thought was over returned long after, to hilarious effect. I also liked the different leveler characters and how they reacted differently to their changed circumstances.
A comfort reading for me, something I keep rereading whenever i feel down. I love the whole atmosphere of the book, and esp the well timed humor and all of the characters. They're so unique and personable! I can't choose a fav because it's just too hard.
