The promised cure for obesity turned out to be the catalyst that made the Black Death look like a quiet Sunday stroll. It infected hundreds, then thousands, then millions, until the world was all but consumed by the ravenous hordes it created. They found their way into every safe haven and fortress and massacred the few remaining survivors at will. Nowhere was safe. Nobody was immune. Nothing was sacred.
And yet some resilient survivors remained.
As a few clung on in small groups, somehow evading the death that was all around them, they were hoping against hope for salvation. Then, a chance to save the world emerges with the hunt for an enigmatic scientist who may hold the key for a cure.
But even this piece of good news may have come too late.
In the English Channel, a flotilla of ships keeps the new Prime Minister, her closest advisors, and thousands of desperate survivors away from the madness that is unfolding on land. And here, protected by what remains of the military, the Prime Minister is prepared to do whatever is necessary to maintain her iron grip on power.
Even if it means sacrificing those who remain to new and emerging subspecies of feeders that are becoming ever more dangerous.
Can a cure be found before the last remaining survivors are overwhelmed? Or is it already too late?
I really enjoyed this book. After reading the first few pages I knew it was going to be a page-turning book. It wasn't over the top with zombies and they were slightly different as well, so it made for an interesting read. I recommend Deadweight.
Absolutely loved this set of two books, I had not read any of Paul’s books before now ,but I will, story very topical atm, new weight drug being dished out to anyone who wants to lose weight .sound familiar , I loved the characters and hated the PM who actually reminded be of a prime minister we had not to long ago, who was ousted out, I’m from uk so brits will know what I’m jabbering on about, I think sending prime minister’s and mps to be devoured by zombies is a very thought provoking idea. Anyways, loved the book, story characters, a must read.
Really enjoyed this book, great characters and the pace was just right not too rushed but kept the momentum well with several great side stories feeding into the main characters lives.
I thought it had a feel similar to the James Herbert books so if you like those you will love this.
Really enjoyed this series. The story is good and the character's strong and likeable . The villains horrible and easy to dislike , with you wanting them to come to sticky end . This is a series you really must read .
I read read weight last year and when I saw part 2 I thought I'd give it a try,not only is it a great follow in,it easily stands up in it down right,a good read with an excellent storyline and well thought out characters
