Perhaps the best book in the series, so far. With twists and turns in almost every page, it keeps the readers at the edge of their seat, as they dwell deeper and deeper in this maze of mystery.

This is stupid.

It’s funny that a major character is just called Yayoi Kusama. I kind of enjoy that the ‘villain’ is constantly setting up new games to trap our protagonist… But they are all very stupid.

Головний герой погоджується на гру, нав'язану антагоністом. З ініціативи Доджіми, Гото зустрівся зі своєю вчителькою з молодших класів, щоб дізнатись реальну особистість Доджіми. І майже весь том - це великий розтянутий діалог між цими двома персонажами, де Гото здебільшого майже нічого не каже, лише дивується певним відкриттям.

Особистість Доджіми розкрита, але чи правда це? Адже Доджіма кулуарно вплинув на вчительку та її письменницьку кар'єру. І можливо всі розсудження героїв також не вірні.

Найгірше не те, що сюжет майже не просунувся, а потім відкотився до стартової точки. Найгірше те, що ця книга дуже важко написана з абстрактними філософськими роздумами та безліччю довгих канджі. Але я впорався.

👉 Ha sido uno de los primeros mangas que leí, ya hace un tiempo de ello, y la tensión, furia e historia se mantienen durante los tomos de la obra.

👉 El guión en mi opinión es muy bueno, te va mostrando la inteligencia del protagonista y cómo no se deja llevar por el ímpetu una vez lo liberan. Poco a poco va labrando un plan para conocer quiénes han sido sus captores y hacérselo pagar.

👉 El dibujo con fondos definidos y oscuros, acompañan perfectamente la narración. Aunque el guión para mí está por encima.

👉 La película que si bien no es totalmente fiel al manga, transmite su tensión y tiene sin duda su hueco en el apartado de psycho thriller.

Après avoir dévoré les extraits lors du festival de la BD en 2023, je suis devenu accro à cette histoire palpitante. Les premiers tomes m'ont totalement immergé dans leur univers, mais le troisième m'a laissé sur ma faim. Malgré cela, l'intrigue reste passionnante et le développement psychologique du personnage principal est remarquable. Un manga à ne pas manquer pour les amateurs de récits captivants !

it's pretty safe to say that this is fully divested from the plot of the movie at this point, but i'm still enjoying it. i expect we'll circle back to the movie at some point but this has been an interesting detour.

An incredible manga thriller.

This volume continues the drama between Alias Dojima and Goto. Nothing much really happens in this volume. Alias Dojima sends a man to Goto to inform him that he is to be the arbitrator of the game between them --- to insure fairness. And this same arbitrator has the authority to answer some questions. In particular he tells Goto when Alias Dojima and him met: in Grammar school. Not only that, but he even helps him locate the Grammar school teacher of the time. It almost appears as if Alias Dojima --- who was so eager to keep his secret --- is practically giving all that Goto needs to discover it. The rest of the volume is given to Goto and his old teacher trying to find the identity --- and they guess it --- of Alias Dojima as well as his motive for lacking Goto up for 10 years.

I read the whole 8 volume series this weekend - not a fan of manga-style backwards pagination, incidentally. It's gripping and good - but the twisted mentality of the movie is much more effective story-telling than the repetitive moral riddles the main character has to solve in the graphic novel.

Amazing. Really amazing. I can't understand why the 8 volumes haven't been collected into an oversized volume, but it's only a matter of time. The story is incredible and the artwork matches. So different (and so much more compelling) than the movie.
