John Hampton is a US Marshal on the way home from an extended fugitive retrieval assignment. When he stops in at his favorite steakhouse he finds that what he wants most … isn’t on the menu.
Mandy Adams wasn't looking for love, least of all at work. She's not only surprised at John's attention but also her quickly developing feelings. John is on the fast-track to claiming Mandy as his own, but Mandy balks at the bossy marshal and flees when her feelings for him threaten to overwhelm her.
Apparently, she isn’t aware that a marshal’s tenacity in running down a target isn’t limited only to fugitives, but to naughty females as well. He soon has both sets of her cheeks blushing from his attention.
But when the chase is over, will Mandy still be able to resist his brand of courtship?
As a USA Today bestselling romance author, Delta James aims to captivate readers with stories about complex heroines and the dominant alpha males who adore them. For Delta, romance is more than just a love story; it’s a journey with challenges and thrills along the way.
After creating a second chapter for herself that was dramatically different than the first, Delta now resides in Florida where she relaxes on warm summer evenings with her loveable pack of basset hounds as they watch the birds, squirrels, and lizards. When not crafting fast-paced tales, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and white-water rafting.
Her readers mean the world to her, and Delta tries to interact personally with as many messages as she can. If you’d like to chat or discuss books, you can find Delta on Instagram, Facebook, and in her private reader group https://www.facebook.com/groups/34898....
Hampton is the prequel to the Wild Mustang Security Firm by Delta James.
The first few chapters were promising, a kickers woman putting an arrogant loser in his place and a hot US Marshall coming to her defense, but then things changed fast.
Things go from promising to not quick. I didn’t care that our hot Marshall turned into a dominant caveman. With what little I read it don’t feel romantic just forced dominance. John spoke to Mandy like a child and spanked her ass. Their is nothing wrong with BDSM, but this was not to my taste. I didn’t like how the dynamics changed and the way John treated such an independent women. I just couldn’t read on and I stopped at 26%.
Hampton was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
The first few pages looked really promising, a kickass woman putting an arrogant loser in his place and a hot US Marshall coming to her defense...even though she didn't need it. It needed editing but readable. And then it wasnt! Literally 18% in and the ' hot Marshall ' is now a dominant caveman. He spoke to her like a child and spanked her ass! Bdsm has been written to death...bad bdsm even more so. I don't know if this book was bondage and all the trappings but it helps to actually like the characters. Not what I expected but luckily found it free.

Is he taming a mustang or a woman? This story didn't feel romantic, it just felt forcing his dominance on her. Yes, John allowed for Mandy's emotions to an extent, but only within his own strict parameters. And no way Mandy could go from never having been spanked (or punished) to taking that many extreme spankings in such a short amount of time! Not with her temper and independence. There's little physical description for him and absolutely no background info on either of them. Also, the title says 'Security Firm' but he and his friend Mac are still US Marshalls in this with no talk of opening their own firm. Shouldn't there be a lead-in? And last, this is only 78 pages long- the rest is an excerpt for Book 1.
I wanted to like this story. I liked the idea of Mandy and John being a couple. I like D/s relationship stories. I didn't like the overbearing dominance in his world his way and she just had to accept it. There was no communication, she never got to have a say. If he thought she was bad she gets spanked. That's controlling and abusive, a true Dominant listens and knows it's not all or nothing there is a word called compromise and another called limits and another called safeword. None of these were discussed.
This really wasn’t for me. This seemed like more of a daddy romance although that’s not what it was. The way the hero treated the heroine wasn’t hot or romantic or anything other than a weird dad daughter relationship to me.
It was so weird she kept trying to get away from him and she kept saying no and he would just spank her lol it’s not funny if you take it seriously but I don’t and it was just silly and ridiculous to me.

This short story is a quick read. US Marshall John Hampton first sees Mandy Adams stretched across a pool table lining up a shot an he likes what he sees. This goes from first meet to HEA very quickly, though Mandy puts up some significant resistance to John’s dominant response to her sass.
We don’t get to know much about either character, but John is definitely a dominant alpha and Mandy is a bratty/sassy woman who doesn’t is somewhat resistant to being spanked and dominated.
I received and ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have read all of Delta James's books and they are full oh hot men and beautiful women that are very passionate for their mates, yes I would recommend all of her books.
John is a US Marshall who is exceptionally good at the chase. He is just home from a job and watches Mandy hustle a guy at pool. Something about her draws him in. Mandy isn't looking for love but she wouldn't mind a little fun with the sexy Marshall.
I loved the characters in this book. Mandy is fiery and independent. John is disciplined and dominant. My only real dislike for the book is that I think he takes his discipline a little too far before giving Mandy the chance to decide if that is what she wants too. I love a good erotic read but felt like he didn't give her the chance to come around to his lifestyle choice on her own. Otherwise a great story.
While I’m sure this is supposed to be a love at first sight, with a domineering guy and a woman who needs to be controlled I see this as more of a bully romance.
The story of US Marshall John Hampton and Mandy Adams is an insta-love novella. From the moment John laid eyes on Mandy, he is ready to claim her as his. They will meet at The Tavern, where Mandy is shooting pool for high stakes against a know-it-all lawyer. When she wins, he comes at her, but that is a mistake, especially with John witnessing it.
The story is about these two and their quick relationship. John knows what he wants and goes after it—convincing Mandy won’t be an easy thing for her to accept. After a lifetime of disappointments, she is anti-love and would instead love them and leave them rather than get into a relationship. But this time, she has met her match—and while John is sex on a stick, he is also a dominant who believes in discipline.
“No, I think you’ve been very clear about what you expect. As you said—you lead, I follow. The unspoken part was if I don’t, I can expect to get spanked.”
The story has several spankings and hot sex scenes. It involves a dominant man and a strong-willed, determined woman, who finally capitulates when she realizes that his word is the truth and not just thrown out there. But the journey is full of angst, determination, and acceptance.
“I think you may have met your match and found your girl.” –Mac
“I’m not sure whether to be intrigued, excited, or concerned.” –Mandy
“I think a combination of all three is probably fairly appropriate.”—John
“She realized she had fallen for a guy who would make the rules and expect her to follow them.”
While each of the Wild Mustang Security Firm stories works well together, they also read well as a stand-alone. They will have people from other stories, but that is because of their intertwined connections. Mandy works for Willa Reynolds, and John works with US Marshall Ethan “Mac” McDaniel.
So I will preface this review by saying that the story is not bad it’s just not for me. No kink shaming from me.
I understand that ‘spanking’ is often part of stories now and I am not adverse to that. I think I found the MMC was just too much. He meets a girl has a few dates where they don’t even kiss then suddenly wham bam I spanking you mam, occurs. The whole story comes across as the man knows better and the woman should accept he is in charge even when she says no! It felt like he gaslighted her and convinced her she was to allow him to rule her! Now I have read ‘50 shades’ and many others where BDSM is involved. Seldom have I had a negative reaction like this.
Like I say this is my opinion and I have an issue when ‘no’ is ignored when a negative storyline I.E an attack, is not the theme.
This story is a prequel to Delta James' Wild Mustangs Security Firm Series. John Hampton is still employed as a U S Marshall and is on his way home from apprehending fugitives. Stopping for dinner he sees Mandy Adams spread over a table playing pool. He is instantly infatuated with her and let's his lust take over. He is driven in his pursuit of her and Mandy is overwhelmed by his dominance. The sex is off the charts but his rules and over abundance of spankings tend to be overbearing. I'm surprised Mandy was not permanently damaged by the end of their courtship. It is a quick read and was gifted to the reader. It is not my favorite book by this author. I enjoy Ms. James books when there is more storyline and the characters are more evolved.
I had read the rest of the series some time back and yet had missed reading 'Hampton'. These two seemed like such an unlikely pair. John Hampton is a US Marshall. When he and his best friend and co-worker Mac are out one night, John sees a woman hustling a game of pool. When the man reacted angrily John stepped in. Mandy had all the attributes he admired along with a feisty personality. What happens when a Dom has a heavy hand and the sub has a red-headed temper? Read 'Hampton' to see how things turn out. You won't be disappointed.
In addition to a man thinking he has any right whatsoever to beat a woman to discipline her, the whole BDSM thing seems to cater to in men who want their women childlike because they treat their women like children. It's creepy and borderline paedophilia. A truly dominant man doesn't need to hit women or treat them like unruly children. As for the women who tolerate that treatment ... ugh. I'd have respect for the heroine if she kicked the so-called hero to the curb and pressed charges.
Compressing the story into less than one hundred pages certainly amped up the steam in this one. John is one super-alpha who lays down the law (no pun intended) and expects his woman to abide by his rules. I’m always on the fence when it comes to these take-charge alphas who steamroll over the FMC’s objections. Perhaps that’s their attraction. However, I would have liked to have seen a longer, more intimate relationship between the two main characters before John resorted to spanking Mandy and telling her he was her man!
It needs 2 b a little longer and have a sum action in it. I'm not talking about sex cause there was plenty of that but action between them cause of what happened b4 with the cop, and 4 her 2 explain her fears, concerns, not just him demanding how things was going 2 b, etc. It takes 2 in a relationship and he's acting like she has no rights or say so about her life and that's not rt. I'm a little disappointed cause of his blanet attitude. Its 1 thing 2 b dominate in the bedroom, but there's a big difference between 2 people that's supposed 2 b in the relationship 2 share their lives 2gether.
The prequel to an awesome series and still just one hot and sizzling read.... When the thrill of a chase begins as John becomes instantly infatuated with Mandy as she plays a game of pool at a bar and as she gets to know him the attraction just sizzles until the L word is mentioned Mandy starts to backtrack... This novella is an sizzling good read and a great start to the Wild Mustang Security series...
This was a delicious treat!! Getting the story behind John and Mandy was awesome! Funny how they casually discussed her between Mac and Hampton and Mac! Mac decided she wasn’t his type. Lol.. this story had all the feels and then some! The action packed story will take you on a roller coaster I loved the HEA . Mustang Security rocks!
A beautiful story so well written that you will feel and live the lives of John and Mandy as you read. The characters have some amazing chemistry between them and some hot steamy sex throughout the story. I totally loved this book and highly recommend reading it!!!
Mandy met Marshal John Hampton when she was harassed by the guy who lost to her at pool. Hampton is a no nonsense guy who takes her in hand when she gets in trouble and sasses him. Mandy has abandonment issues that he deals with to get to their HEA. I loved the heat and this author's style of writing. I am voluntarily leaving my review of this ARC.
The idea is good but the execution is lacking for me. It could be due to it being a short prequel preventing world building, plot & character depth but even the bedroom scenes that are the focus missed the mark for me. It fell on the wrong side if dominance in my opinion and her limits were not taken into account.
was really hopeful with this book but OMG, John treated Mandy like a petulant child and it felt forceful more than anything else.
he forced her to have anal, he forced her to marry him, and whenever she said something he didn't like or did something he didn't like, he spanked this crap out of her. not well written bdsm at all, wouldn't recommend this one.

This was touted as having a substantial makeover of Mandy’s Claiming. I have read Mandy several times and there is very little different in this edition except the cover. It is well written but if you have read Mandy’s Claiming I wouldn’t bother with this edition.
I love this author and her style of writing. This was the beginning of something great! This book had almost a daddy dom vibe but stopped just short of it. Still lots of spanking with a sassy lady who let her red headed temper loose far to frequently. Can’t wait to read Mac’s story next!
Wow! What a fantastic, sizzling hot book! It was a great start to what looks like will be an amazing series! I loved the chemistry between John and Mandy! They made a great couple! Hampton is an intense, emotional story full of hot, steamy sexiness! I can’t wait for the next book!
A very typical storyline, insta-love and the tough female fighting it but well written and great characters make an excellent first book in the series. If your a fan of power exchange than you’ll love this series.
John saw Mandy playing pool and knew immediately that she was for him. Mandy was head strong and was a hand full. John spanked her, put her in a corner, then made passion love to her. This is an a amazing five star book and Author❤️❤️.
