Hi. I’m Ava Decker and I own Frosted, the only stuffed cupcake bakery in all of Blueberry Bay. After being ghosted at the altar, I moved back home to Clover Creek, quit my boring accounting job, and turned my passion for pastries into a new career crafting the best sweet treats in the area.

I’m also a kitty mom to an adorable ruddy Abyssinian cat, Lucky, who was raised by dogs and now believes he is one.

Fetch? Check.

Tricks for treats? Check.

Rolling over? Check.

Coming back when called? Not so much.

Now, my ex, who left me with a huge wedding debt, is in town and I want less than nothing to do with him. Sure, he did save me from a big lawsuit by making an anonymous donation to the Swiss Boarding School that wanted to sue me.

Long story short, it involved an unscrupulous killer, a lawyer that was in love with him, a falsified will, and . . .

Yeah, it’s complicated. And honestly, as far as my ex is concerned, it’s too little, too late. I’m moving on. Getting closure is so overrated.

And oh, by the way, I’ve somehow managed to stumble upon another dead body and this one is also surrounded by cupcakes.

Why me?!

Another fantastic story. Short but sweet. Ava has left a heartbreaking life behind, hoping things will be better. A murder was not on the list. Can’t wait for the next one.

Ehhh, it was ehhh. I mean does she work at the bakery? She’s never there. She gives away all the cupcakes so how is she earning money? Officer Wesley - didn’t like his character in this book and he needs his detective badge revoked because he’s just dumb. Marcus was cool, Ruby was cool, Ruby’s parents are 100% unrealistically to Pollyanna. Please make Tessa the next victim, she’s annoying why is the ex- fiancé back🙄🙄 he served no purpose. The murder was mystery was tepid.

Once again Lucky stole my heart and ran away with the show, taking poor Ava along with him. This time, Ava and Lucky need to figure out who could possibly out-meanie the Mean Girl. Along the way they make several new friends, reconnect with some old ones, and even some not-so-friends. From the beginning I had a hunch who I thought the villain was going to turn out to be, and I was happy to see my hunch panned out. I couldn’t tell you why I had that thought, though, because the author does a very good job of covering the villain’s tracks. The thing I remember most at the end of this book is that it was just plain fun. And even though this book is over already, I can’t wait to come back and do it all over again with the next in the series. It looks like there might be some changes brewing on Ava’s horizon.

I would like to thank Tule Publishing and Lisa Siefert for the E ARC of this book.
This is book 2 in the series. I have not read book 1 and I didn’t feel I was missing anything very much by not having read it.
Ava is loving running her business as a filled cupcake bakery. The town is hosting a Beauty Pageant and when one of the participants is found dead with a box of Ava’s cupcakes beside her, she needs to take up her sleuthing skill to make sure her bestie is proved innocent.
I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. The plot was kept moving and was engaging, I didn’t work out the culprit which was good. Ava’s kitten was a cute addition and he helped Ava in many ways. The cupcakes sounded delicious and I love that there were recipes at the end of the book.
I don’t want to say more as I don’t want to spoil the plot.

Cupcakes (plus recipes), a cute kitten named Lucky, a beauty pageant, and murder have Ava Decker running around town trying to solve the murder. She is also trying to avoid Tessa, a nosey gossip news reporter who never seems to get things right, and her ex-fiancé who sent his mother to tell her he couldn't make it to their wedding.

Who killed mean girl Britney? Why were the cupcakes poisoned and she strangled? Who are all the Britney look-alikes? How do you get chocolate chip cookie dough into a cupcake?

In Fudge and Felonies, Ava has to investigate the pageant scene since the victim was a contestant. Ava and Lucky, her trusty kitten sidekick, are on the case! This case kept me baffled (hooray!) with its many twists and turns. Warning: You will probably end up craving some of those stuffed cupcakes, but the recipes are included at the end of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful mystery.

Fudge and Felonies is the second book in Lisa Siefert’s fun cozy mystery series, Frosted Misfortune Mysteries. I have read both books in the series and really enjoyed them. In this book Ava and her bestie, Ruby have finished selling the cupcakes at the town festival. Ava has her cat Lucky with her as is the norm. Ruby has introduced her to one of her clients, a billionaire named Marcus Palmer. There is a beauty pageant being held in their town and Marcus is sponsoring it. Earlier that day, their old enemy from high school, Brittany had come into the cupcake shop and had gotten a box and left. She told her that she was in the beauty pageant and complained about her pageant coach. She mentioned she had plans to become a coach in the future. Ava, Ruby and Marcus decide to watch the fireworks together and look for a spot to sit. Lucky the cat wanders off and discovers a dead body that Ava then sees. It is Brittany and the box of cupcakes are lying next to her.

They contact the police and run into Wesley, the detective they worked with in the prior book. He is not allowed to be on the case as he has a conflict of interest. Marcus has heard about Ava and Ruby helping solve a previous murder and suggests they work together on this one. He invites Ava to visit the pageant events to meet the other contestants and the coach. She also goes to the apartment complex where Brittany lived. She meets the receptionist who is a Brittany wannabe and her roommate who looks like her doppelgänger. Suddenly there are many suspects. In addition Ava’s ex pops back up. He had left her at the altar several months earlier and his mother called off the wedding. There is also an annoying reporter who keeps showing up unexpectedly and puts Ava in the spotlight in an unflattering manner. It is very exciting as Ava works to solve the mystery and spend some time with Marcus.

The book is well written and the author does a great job in providing lots of twists and surprises. I tried to guess who the killer was but I was wrong. I love how Lucky, the cat plays a big part in the story. The cat thinks he’s a dog, has been authorized as a support animal and goes everywhere with Ava or has a sitter. I enjoy cozy mysteries and this book is a very enjoyable and suspenseful book. I highly recommend it and give it 5 stars.

I was fortunate to receive this ARC from Tule Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

Ava Decker lives in small town Clover Creek, Maine and owns a bakery that specializes in filled cupcakes. There is a beauty pageant in town, and it's a big deal, being the first one. Ava is selling her cupcakes out of her bakery truck when her high school nemesis Brittany gives her back-handed compliments, which Ava is trying to roll off her back. But they sting anyway. When Ava's kitten Lucky grabs one of Brittany's red ribbons, she throws a fit until Ava offers her a box of cupcakes. Brittany is nothing if not smug, and accepts them.

Ava then meets the sponsor of the pageant -- tech billionaire Marcus Palmer, and she's sort of smitten with the man, even though she won't admit it to her best friend Ruby. When Marcus suggests they meet to watch the fireworks, Ava agrees, and heads out toward the lake. But on the way she notices one of her signature boxes sitting in the woods...next to Brittany's dead body.

Things get worse when Ava discovers that her recent crush Detective Wesley Lockwood was dating Brittany, and now he's the main suspect in her murder. Ava is nothing if not fiercely loyal to friends, and she's determined to help solve the murder, even if Wesley tells her to let the police do their job.

When she starts digging into the murder, she finds an unlikely ally in her investigation, and soon discovers that all things are not what they seem...

This is the second book in the series and I quite enjoyed it as much as the first. It was lively, full of action, and the characters are believable and have their own quirks, which only makes this series more endearing. I loved the plot line and the subplots both. I really like Ava and Ruby, and we get a little more background on Ruby's family in this book, which is nice.

When the ending comes and everything is gathered together, the murderer was a bit of a surprise, which is also nice. There was an interesting climax, and the addition of new characters which can only bring more depth to the series. I enjoy these books and can't wait to read the next. Highly recommended.

This is another fun cosy where the cute cat steals the show. I did enjoy it but found I had a few unanswered questions like how did the killer get the poison on the cupcakes? and what was with all the red glitter ribbons? The police detective also seems to have had a personality change from the first book where he would do anything for Ava, a murder suspect to hardly talking to her now. The new love interest seems to nice and I even started to suspect him, especially as it feels like the same situation between him and his sister as it was with Ava's ex and his mother. I liked the other characters, even if they were a bit weird or should I say unusual. The mystery was easy to follow and moved at a quick pace. It didn't have a great number of suspects but I will still be joining them again, if only to see what the cat Lucky is getting up to.
With Clover Creek first beauty pageant to be held in town, Ava Decker's cupcake van should be doing a good business, especially with a tec billionaire sponsoring the event. The problem is Ava and her best friend Ruby's arch archnemesis and one of the contestants is found dead with a box of Ava's cupcakes. Officer Lockwood, aka Wesley Lockwood, was dating the victim and is taken off the case. Meaning if Ava wants to find the killer she will have to find them herself. Armed with stacks of cupcakes, a clingy cat that won't let her out of her sight, a news reporter that thinks everything Ava does is fair game and a tec billionaire with a sister to protect, can she find the killer?

Clover Creek is hosting its first beauty pageant sponsored by Palmer Tech. Ava’s and Ruby’s high school nemesis, Brittany, is one of the contestants. When Ava’s cat, Lucky, attacks the red ribbons in Brittany’s hair, she offers a free cupcake as compensation. Brittany of course takes a whole dozen, but not before throwing some targeted barbs at Ava and Ruby. Ava later finds Brittany dead after chasing after Lucky. With her cupcakes at the scene, she knows she’ll again be a suspect. She’s surprised to learn that Officer Lockwood, Wesley, is also a suspect as he was dating Brittany. With the help of billionaire, Marcus Palmer, Ava is off to investigate the murder. Along the way, she also tries to dodge reporter, Tessa; her ex-fiancee, Ben; Ruby’s healthy spirulina shakes; and a few Brittany Clones. Setting a trap to catch a killer, has Ava bit off more than she can chew?

The second book in Lisa Siefert’s Frosted Misfortunes series is a delightful confection of a cozy mystery. Plenty of humor, with quirky characters and a scene stealing cat, along with a fast paced plot with some unexpected twists, keeps the reader engaged with the story. Ava gets some real closure from her failed wedding and realizes that being ghosted at the alter was a blessing. Tessa is at turns infuriating and endearing as she chases stories and puts Ava on spot. Marcus and his sister Lila were charming additions, but is Marcus too good to be true? I did love the description of his home and Lila’s inventions. Ruby and Ava are definite friendship goals. The pageant contestants surprised me overall with one scene in particular being a standout. With the reveal of a missing person related to Ava potentially being found, the stage is set for the next mystery for Ava.

FUDGE & FELONIES is the second installment in the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries cozy murder mystery by Lisa Siefert. This is an easy to read and entertaining story with characters that are likable and a cute storyline for this new series.

Less than a month back home in her hometown of Clover Creek Maine, Ava Decker found herself the main suspect in her boss's murder and ended up solving the murder herself.

Now her we go again. In the year since returning home, Ava has just found her third dead body, and it's her high school nemesis. Brittany has a partially eaten cupcake in her lap, and the rest of the box from Ava's food truck scattered around her.

When the eaten partially cupcake tests positive for poison, guess who the first suspect is. With her BFF Ruby, Ava starts looking into who would kill Brittany. Who hated her that much? Surprisingly, Marcus, the local billionaire offers to help with their investigation. Do we have romance in the air, or could he be hiding something. Read on and find out.

With good characters, a lovable, friskie kitty, and an intriguing murder mystery, I look forward to the next installment.  There's no need for a guard dog when you have a kitten that thinks she's a dog.

Fudge and Felonies by Lisa Siefert, book two in the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries series, is a sweet cozy mystery with murder, intrigue, questions, red herrings, and a bit of romance. Ava Decker is selling cupcakes from her food truck at the fairgrounds during a town festival. Brittney Westerhielde, the mean girl from high school, is waiting in line to get cupcakes when Lucky, Ava's cat, jumps on her. After placating Brittney, Ruby, Ava’s best friend, introduces Marcus Palmer, sponsor of the upcoming beauty pageant and one of her insurance clients, to Ava. He asks if he can join them to watch the fireworks. While waiting on Marcus and Ruby, Ava sees Brittney propped against a tree. Going over to check on her she realizes that Brittney has been killed. Brittney was not the nicest person around, having a number of enemies. Despite that, Ava and Marcus decide to search for the killer.

This book has a little for everyone: a mean girl, stuffed cupcakes, amazing ice cream sandwiches, a cute kitten named Lucky, a best friend, a hot billionaire, a beauty pageant, a TV reporter who stalks Ava and brought Ava’s ex to town, and murder have Ava running around town trying to solve the murder. Along the way Ava and Ruby make several new friends, reconnect with some old friends and even some not-so-friends as Ava tries to prove her innocence and sets out to find the person who did it. With twists and turns, and even some red herrings this was a fun page turner, as you follow the clues to figure out who the killer is. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

Not what I thought from the title
Not as good as the first one though. I really thought the red glitter ribbon had something to do that was important to the story as much as it was brought up throughout, but nope. The look a likes were a bit much although I understand the connection to do with Brittany to a degree, but little overkill. I wasn't too sure about Wesley in this story, missed feelings on him, especially on his "date" with Joelle; glad that him and Ava didn't get together after all. I liked Marcus (don't usually like the billionaire types), but he is kind and helpful not to mention gorgeous (according to Ava). Tessa and her girl power was annoying for a bit, she defiantly is a camera loving channel 5 news person. But my all time favorite character would be Lila, Marcus's sister, what a sweet, caring, fun, be yourself young lady, so glad she told her brother the truth about her dream and what she is capable of doing. Would love to read her story for a future book in the series.

Ava Decker is the owner and baker for Frosted, a stuffed cupcake store. She and her friend Ruby are attending the fairgrounds where fireworks were being held. Brittney Westerhielde, the mean girl from high school, is waiting in line to get cupcakes and Lucky, Ava's cat is attracted to the red glitter ribbons in her hair and jumps on her. Ava gets Lucky and offers Brittney a free cupcake since Lucky ruined her hairstyle. Ava and Ruby are finishing up when Marcus Palmer, sponsor of the upcoming beauty pageant arrives to get a cupcake. Ruby is his insurance lady and she introduces them. He asks if he can join them to watch the fireworks. On the way, Ava sees Brittney propped against a tree. She goes to her and sees that she has been killed. As Brittney was not the nicest person around she has a number of enemies. Ava and Marcus decide to find the killer. Who killed Brittney?

This book was a page turner for me. It was well written and the plot was engaging. Ava’s nemesis from high school shows up and insults her like she did in high school but a little while later is found dead by Ava who now needs to prove her innocence and sets out to find the person whodunnit!

It’s the perfect cozy to curl up by the fire to read if you have a fireplace but if not to just settle down on a sofa or chair and let yourself be whisked away to a place where you can forget your troubles and enjoy the story as it unfolds. See if you can unmask the killer before the identity is revealed.

I recommend this book to young and adult readers alike for both age groups will enjoy this tale! Treat yourself to a doughnut while you’re reading it for after all “resistance is futile” and it helps you get into the story as well.

Available Decker is a bakery owner in her hometown in Blueberry Bay and is trying to put being left at the altar behind her. When a local high school mean girl and beauty pageant contestant is found dead with a box of Ava's cupcakes beside her, Ava is determined to get to the bottom of the matter especially when her friend is accused. Can she and her kitten, Lucky, find the killer before losing her own life?

I really enjoyed the first book in this new series and this book is a fabulous follow-up. The book's well-written with wonderful characters you'll love getting to know. Full of action and intrigue along with some humor, this book will pull you into the story from the beginning and keep you there until the end. I'm really looking forward to more from this series. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.

Why is there always one girl from high school who never quite grows out of that mean girl phase? Well for Ava and Ruby that girl is Brittany. While the two friends have moved on and do their best to leave the past where it belongs Brittany tends to bring out the worst in everyone. Unfortunately for her that leads to murder. With her new boyfriend and Ava’s sorta friend Wesley is prime suspect she decides it’s time to add to her detective resume and solve this crime. With a little help from Ruby, some new pageant girlfriends and hottie billionaire Marcus there’s nothing that can stop the truth from being revealed!
Great cozy fun. Lucky steals the show in every scene he’s in, I mean who can outshine a cute kitty? Good pacing, and lots of red herrings. A very entertaining read!.

I'm loving this fun series and the author's sense of humor that she shares with her main character, Ava! I had a gut feeling about whodunit, but I let other suspicions get in the way and at times, I wasn't sure who to trust. The showdown was a really good one, and I'm sure Ava was grateful for the new gift she got from a friend, because it saved the day.

Little Lucky just gets cuter and cuter! Yep, I'd be achoo-ing just like Shelby if I was around him, but I know I'd want to love and cuddle on him like she did. I got a kick out of Ruby having to watch him and stating that Ava was the only one she knew whose pet required 24/7 attention lol. I just borrowed the third book that came out this month from Kindle Unlimited and can't wait to dig in!

Once again the kitten, Lucky, stole the show in this second-of-the-series, light-hearted, cozy murder mystery. Ava Decker, the owner of a cupcake bakery, was the first to discover the body and once again she was considered a prime suspect. But more than just a murder mystery, “Fudge & Felonies” was a sweet story of romance for Ava and a handsome billionaire, as well as the resolution of issues regarding Ava’s ex-fiancé.

I received a free copy of this book for my voluntary, honest review. I especially appreciated the general theme of acceptance of all body types as beautiful, in dealings with the beauty pageant, which ran throughout the story. This is definitely worth the read.

Fudge & Felonies by Lisa Siefert is the second installment of the Frosted Misfortunes series and will keep you guessing and laughing until the end! Ave with her constant companion, Lucky the cat are hot on the trail of a killer, well sort of. Seems every lead she has leads to another suspect until she becomes one. Ava’s motto – don’t mess with my friends. Getting into the beauty pageant world was not what she had planned, especially with Lucky’s fascination with ribbons. However, when the promotor is a sexy, multi-millionaire offers to help…oh…my…goodness!!!
So what happens when they find out who dun it?

Fudge and Felonies is the second book in the delightful Frosted Misfortunes cozy mysteries series. Ava and her adorable cat Lucky once again find themselves caught up in a murder mystery when mean girl Brittany dies after eating one of Ava's stuffed cupcakes. As well as murder Ava also has to cope with the ex fiance turning up out of the blue, a hot billionaire and a beauty pageant.
This book is packed full of great characters and has touches of humour that add depth to the story. Whilst I enjoyed the first book more this is still a very enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it to all cozy mystery fans .. and Lucky is an absolute delight.

These cupcake options will make your mouth water and definitely sweeten up the murder mystery. The romance interest for Ava is subtle which is understandable considering her last relationship, not sure why that failure is still so prominent and hope it becomes less of a focus in future books. Ava is a strong and determined character surrounded by a supportive best friend, ex-boyfriends and a little pesky yet informative reporter. This variety as well as Lucky's antics are hilarious. Great read!

I love when I can't guess the murderer and even more when I think I know but the author is so good I'm completely wrong lol! That happened here..I thought I knew but I was wrong. Great book! I love how much she loves her kitten, Lucky and how much his safety means to her. As a tall-ish girl myself.. I love that she's 5'11! That's awesome! I'll definitely be reading more of her books!
P.S. thanks for the awesome recipes..I made them with my girls and they were amazing!

Great short story with well written characters. The plot is engaging and keeps you turning pages. At the end there are some wonderful recipes for you to try.
Its a great book for teens and adults to get comfy with. You may just find your self in the middle of the story trying to help Ava figure out who the killer is, or realize you are in the middle of Marcus unique home.

A fun, entertaining cozy mystery with a hometown feel. Ava returns to Maine after being left at the alter and in this second book her ex Ben is trying get in touch with her. And of course there is a murder -this time it's Ava's frenemy since high school, Britney. Once again Ava's cupcakes are found at the scene of the crime. A beauty pageant in town introduces new characters especially Marcus and his sister giving us plenty of suspects. Noisy newswoman Tessa and the cat Lucky add a little humor and drama. We are left with a new mystery regarding a cousin who disappeared years ago. Looking forward to reading about the new developments in Ava's life. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fudge and Felonies is a cute addition to the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries by Lisa Siefert. Ava Decker is now in this second book the owner of her own bakery and an adorable kitten. Lucky steals every scene. New characters are met in this story who are likeable too.

Ava is working to make a new life and make her new business a success. Murder just seems to keep getting the way. This time it is murder at a beauty pageant. Stange place for cupcakes to be. Ava makes a rather good sleuth and a marvelous baker. So many suspects, but she is on the case. A fun read.

Fudge & Felonies is book #2 in the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries series by Lisa Siefert.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series and I was able to read it as a stand-alone. There was a helpful section at the beginning that listed the location and characters. I really like Ava and Lucky. The mystery had plenty of twists to keep me guessing. By the end I was really craving cupcakes and plan to try the recipes included in the book.
