You know those stories you see on the news, the poor girl who bit off more than she could chew in a relationship and paid for it?
I was one of them.
I’ve played the victim my whole life, but moving to Maine was a fresh start.
No pain. No men from my past that could hurt me. Nothing but a fresh start and a new life.
That’s what I thought right up until I met Braxton. Six-foot-something and 100% bad boy. Everything that should have sent me running as fast and as far away as I could.
But something drew me to him. Something I didn’t dare try to understand or allow myself to want. And the further I fell, the harder it was to imagine my life without him in it.
Once he knew the secrets I held close to my chest, would Braxton ever be able to look at me the same again?
Flight is the first book of the Flight and Fight duet, which follows Ariah, a broken heroine, and Braxton, a scarred hero, as they navigate their own dark pasts to find love again. This contemporary new adult sports romance is full of angst and secrets that will keep you guessing.
CW: There is mention of SA and violence within this book. Please use discretion when reading.
Montana is an Amazon Top 50 bestselling author of spicy dark romance. She writes possessive anti-heroes who will make you swoon and feisty heroines who give as good as they get.
She lives in Australia with her husband and four cats, and is a self proclaimed garlic bread connoisseur. She loves to travel the world, but also loves to have her head in a spicy book in her home library and office.
Amazing, incredible, wonderful, out of this world. Flight by Montana Frye is a story that has it all. There is a whole lot of drama that fills the pages of this book. I couldn’t get enough of the heartbreak and sexual tension between Braxton and Ariah. Braxton is a strong alpha male that is broken and in need of repair. Ariah is just broken and nothing but time and space can heal her wounds. There are more ups and downs in this book than a roller coaster. The writing style of Frye will keep you engaged while reading and you won’t be able to put this story down. I know because I read this awesome book in just one day. Book three of the Forest Falls series, Fight, will tell the rest of Braxton and Ariah’s story. 5-stars for Flight by Montana Fyre.
Ariah is leaving Australia and starting a new life. With the help of her best friend Charlotte she hopes that life in Maine will be everything that she had dreamed of. She’s been warned about her housemate Braxton but sometimes there is no stopping the inevitable. Braxton hasn’t been the same since the death of his high school sweetheart. When Braxton sees Ariah for the first time he knows he is in trouble. When both of their tragic pasts come back to haunt them, they can only hope and pray that they live through it.
This is Braxton and Ariah’s story, and what an emotional roller coaster their journey is. Braxton and Ariah are both broken characters who have tragic pasts which haunt them, and when they end up as roommates, they recognize that they are kindred spirits, but can they heal each other? What happens when their past come back to haunt them? This is a well written flawless story which is emotional, and with drama, heartbreak, explosive chemistry, healing, and is a poignant love story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.
Received the ARC for this. After reading the first book I was looking forward to this one. Two broken souls finding happiness amongst each other... but that ending tho. I need more like yesterday! Storyline realistic and well written
I couldn’t get enough of this book and this couple
This book was amazing... I am speechless. I loved it so much. It has new beginnings, trepidation, confusion in feelings and love, of course it has love! But it’s on a different level. You could feel what the characters were feeling, when Ariah or Braxton were nervous or worried, you felt that through Montana Fyre’s amazing writing. I felt their love and felt like I was going through it.. thank you, this was beautiful, I can’t wait for your next book!
A full 10/10 for plotline but there was still something missing. I picked this book in hope of getting a good cry but it didn't happen. Yes I've shedded a few tears but I don't know why I couldn't connect with anything. My attention was wandering and the cliffhanger was frustrating. The plot is being unnecessarily stretched by adding unimportant information or by repeating thoughts.
✷Things I loved:✷ •The result of the trial. It shows some part of reality. • How Brax does stuff but doesn't show, how he dotes over Ariah and does anything and everything he can to keep her comfortable and safe. I love his chapter 12 answer to Charlotte. • Ariah's confidence, strength and mindset to live forward. • The chemistry and pull between Brax & Ariah. Loved it!
✷Things that bothered me:✷ •This story takes place in a college environment where nothing except parties are mentioned, some more college details and incidents would have been appreciated. •The twist where both the characters have a misunderstanding or fight or something which leads to them falling apart didn't give the impact it should've had. I agree with both the POVs and wouldn't choose a side but it was settled very easily and plainly. •Dominic's reason/excuse was absolutely unacceptable, very stupid.
I wanted to know how the story would end and was prepared for her past to resurface and then to finally end but it didn't and now there's another book coming. This book definitely did not turn out to be what I expected.
•••••••••••••••••••••••• I've recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Flight by Montana Frye is a contemporary romance between two broken individuals. Braxton, who lost his high school girlfriend in tragedy and became an Alpha jerk who uses women and drink to escape, and Ariah, who has been abused in everyway possible by the people who should have loved her. This book took me forever to read, not because it was boring or slow, but because of the emotions it evoked in me. This is one of the best written books I’ve read in a long time. I would read a bit, then have to put it down for a day to digest it. There are places that gutted me and places that made me joyous. I loved the characters of Braxton and Ariah. I felt like I was right there with them and experienced what they did (which was another reason I had to take it slow). Braxton is the hot hunk that knows it and Ariah is absolutely beautiful, but doesn’t believe it after what she’s experienced. Braxton’s total acceptance of her internal and external scars are what you hope for and his ability to understand her is what we all wish for. I will admit that for the first part of the story I despised Ariah’s best friend Charlotte. I thought she was too controlling and mean to Braxton. Her coming around finally made me like her more. The cover drew me in. It’s professional and made me want to discover what the book was about. The only thing I would warn readers about is that there is a cliffhanger at the end, so be ready to read the next to see how the story concludes.
Ensure you have plenty of tissues at hand when you read 'Flight' you will need them; and most importantly be prepared to not move until the end - then be prepared to have to wait for the next book - believe me it is killing me already.
Montana Fyre has written something very special! People can be broken in many different way's; can suffer loss, hurt and unimaginable pain but due to completely different situations. This is the case for Ariah and Braxton.
Braxton doesn't want to be attracted to the broken girl from Australia. After what he went through Braxton was happy to just drink and enjoy women but as soon as Ariah stepped out of the car his world has been knocked on its axis!
Ariah has arrived at College to start a new life on the other side of the world - being here with her best friend is all she wanted she is broken she never be mended but Braxton is pulling down the walls and slowly being her together one piece at a time! But will it be enough!
The synopsis tells you the background - I am advising and begging that you read - what more do I need to say except to restate, be prepared to be blown away!
Flight is the first book that I've read by Montana Fyre, and it was amazing! Braxton is our hero, who was broken from the tragedy of his high school sweetheart's death. Ariah is leaving the Land Down Under for the states for a fresh start to be closer to her best friend, and she's broken in her own way. These two end up roommates, and it's hard to deny that fate had her hand in this situation as they feel a connection to each other. Of course they're going to try to deny it for as long as they can, but you know, it won't stop fate. There's so much angst in this story that I still have an emotional book hangover because all of their emotions seeped out of my kindle to surround me. I don't want to say anything else because this story is one of those stories that you need to read so buckle up & hit those one click buttons. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
WOW! Montana has destroyed me with this book. I was completely captivated by Braxton and Ariah's story.
Charlotte and Dean try to keep Ariah and Braxton away from each other. However, Braxton just can't seem to keep his distance from her. Ariah pushes Braxton to be someone he thought died along with his high school sweetheart. Ariah has had a rough go in life, and she moved to Maine for a fresh start and some freedom. She never expected to find a connection to someone.
There was so much tension throughout this book that I stayed glued to my kindle. This was definitely an emotional rollercoaster up to the very end. I can't wait for the next book to continue their story.
5 words Roller Coaster Of A Ride!! Braxton and Ariah are roommates and both did not expect the spark between them. Past doesn't stay in the past with these two. Will they pass the grief they both been through and move forward.
Advice book of tissues is required or like me some Jack Daniel's & Coke 🥃😝
I admit I started reading due to all the parts that were included in videos on Montana Fyre's TikTok. So glad I did. I love this book seeing the woman become so confident after a traumatic past and a very patient and supportive former playboy slowly fall in love 🥰. Darn cliffhanger though I am immediately starting the next one Fight. I did enjoy that I didn't have to read the first in the in the series 😅.
