On the outside, my life seems perfect. I own a flower shop. I have wonderful friends. Every day, I’m doing what I love. So what if I don’t have someone to love? The life I’ve built for myself is enough.
Then, I meet a billionaire at a masquerade ball. She sees all of me, including my secrets.
The truth is, my heart is heavy. After my wife died in a tragic accident, I vowed to never fall in love again. To never get too close.
In the older billionaire’s arms, there’s no risk of that happening. She’s notorious for not getting attached. And that’s a good thing, because if I let go… …I’ll break.
Rose and Kate both had things they needed to deal with. Rose lost her wife and Kate never allowed herself to open her heart. Kate teaches Rose how to let go sexually and give up control which she fines very freeing. They have an amazing connection and they can’t help falling in love. It’s a beautiful and sexy love story.
This is an instalove story that is fast paced and sexy but also deeply emotional and honest. There is light bdsm, pain play, and a dominant submissive relationship but it is mild enough to not be too much for readers who are unaccustomed to such themes. Kate is a hotshot executive that does quick flings, no strings, just a good time. Rose is all about commitment but after losing her wife, decides she can’t go through that kind of love and loss again. When their eyes meet across the room at a charity gala sparks fly leading to a single night of passion. That is all either of them wants, right? The pacing is good throughout the story. Even though the romance and story progressed quickly it never felt forced or false. Both characters feel the spark between them and even though they each have reasons to avoid a relationship, the connection they share is clear and obviously special. It is impressive to have such a strong emotional theme present while still providing a sexy and exciting romance in just over one hundred pages, but that is exactly what Reese has done. The feeling of loss and grief are prevalent throughout but they only added to story and the growth of the characters. This romance manages to be sexy and sweet all while dealing with learning how to move on from the loss of a spouse. The romance is sexy. The beginning of the relationship was solely sexual. The attraction is incredibly strong between Rose and Kate and while things started strictly physical it quickly becomes more. I loved the emotional and physical side of their connection and the trust they quickly established. A quick and sexy read that has a fantastic layer of emotional depth. An all around great read.
I really liked this. Rose owns a flower shop and hears about the exploits of her best friends boss. Kate is a one-night stand kind of woman, and Rose is still grieving for her wife. This was very sexy and hot, but also had emotion. Kate isn’t used to the feeling she has, and Rose is afraid of falling in love again. It seemed like they fell in love pretty darn quick, but it really worked with the story. It was well written, and I loved how it ended up working out.
Rose's best friend Libby had been getting her bosses goodbye bouquets from Rose's flower shop Lindsay's for as she's been her P.A. Whether it was for a night, 2 weeks, a month, everyone got the same goodbye bouquet!. So when Rose attends the charity gala that Libby has been planning for her boss Kate as Libby's + 1 she doesn't expect to catch Kate's eye and end up spending the night in Kate's penthouse suite. This is the first time she's had sex for over three years and it terrifies Rose causing her to leave during the night while Kate is asleep. A really well written ff romance with some mild bdsm. Thoroughly enjoyable read, pageturner.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rose (florist) and Kate (billionaire CEO) are leads in this hot romance with soft BDSM. Both women have emotional baggage that stunts relationships but one manages to see the core character of the other with unexpected results. The chemistry and sex are well written as is the supporting character of Libby - I was carried along by Rose's angst filled journey to eventual growth and Kate's realization that she wants/needs a HEA. Both women just need to let go of the past and face the future together. Thank you Ms. Reese for another wonderful escape from the harsh reality of the world today.
I rec'd an ARC through Booksprout and this is a voluntary, un-biased review.
This was an outstanding story. There is such limited Lesbian BDSM fiction that it is refreshing to see it start to appear. I enjoyed the characters and the story line we believable and engaging. The sensual erotic scenes were hot and well laid out. I am hoping for lots more from Clara Reese like this.
Sexual attraction and curiosity of toy/dominant play... but eventually we get to see the emotional side of them. I do like how the florist shop comes into play, with all the "thanks for the good time" bouquets.
Good, solid read with a good premise, but a little on the shorter side. I like it. I think it works, despite it's short length, with the characters relationship and the very hot scenes.
Man. I soooooo wanted to 5 star this book because I get excited and want to support every BDSM niche writer and it would've been 5 stars if the word love could've been swapped out with adore or something a wee less strong. I blinked and the mains were professing love.
A grieving widow that submits for her first time and a player that dommes hard into love by the second date? Just couldn't go along that journey. A lot of the writing is repetitious, I like knowing what characters are thinking, but it was a bit laborious to read for pages. It is a quick read, just not my shot of whiskey.
