A violinist struggles for survival in a war-torn city. A prince pines the loss of his former love in an opulent, secluded palace. A trespasser breaks into her ex-girlfriend's home, desperate for closure. Lost Light is about isolation, longing, and madness.
This chapbook contains two pieces of flash fiction and one short story.
4.5 stars for Lost Light! A great collection, somber tones, definitely leans heavily on the theme of isolation.
This collection is proficiently written with beautiful stories. Half a star knocked off of my personal score because I've FELT what this writer can do, and something about this particular collection didn't hit the mark as solidly as the others. Still a great read!
The three short stories included in Gloria Russell's Lost Light cannot be described without using the word "haunted". Each tale peers in on a heart in denial. "Fog King" stole my heart in all of its Dorian Grey-esque glory. There is no reason not to get this enchanting book of shorts.
