HOST

Rate this book
A little girl stalks the Texas highways at night, looking for a ride home...or so she claims.

The Pirate King promises an innkeeper a life of adventure, and not even death can break an oath.

A demonic entity must possess and kill her hosts for survival, but when she possesses a depressed college dropout named Heather, things get complicated.

HOST contains two short stories and one flash fiction about monstrous women, what creates them, and what they leave in their wake.

FAB! I'm obsessed with all three of these stories, specifically Host itself. Are you kidding me? Demon possession? Homosexuals? I'm in.

Gloria Russell's latest collection of three short fiction pieces is a magical blend of revenge, longing, and remorse. Each of the stories stands independently, but my favorite by far was "The Pirate King". The ache is palpable. Her prose is almost musical and it lures you in until escape is impossible. If you enjoy writing that offers an immediate connection and a desire to crawl inside them, do yourself a favor and order it immediately.

Three wonderful short stories brought together in this chapbook. Honestly 'Host' and 'The Pirate King' would be worth price of admission on their own. Gloria delivers some more strong monster girl stories that will stay with you while you lay awake at 2 AM thinking about life. I can't write that more about it without spoiling the stories, simply go buy it and enjoy them yourselves.

There's a part of me that wishes I had read this back in October , but there's something to be said for horror vibes over Winter as well.
The stories in this book are delightfully intriguing and spooky. Not being a monster girl myself I don't think I'm quite the target audience, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.
