For the highland blood fae, survivor’s guilt can be quite the greedy mistress.

The agony of being a latent alpha and the sole survivor of his family has consumed Knox Boyd’s thoughts for the last two hundred years. Sure, he has his art, but he belongs nowhere and to no one. Not even constant blood feedings can satisfy the emptiness that remains.

That is, until he looks up to find publicist Blaire Darby standing among his paint cans and stencils. Suddenly there’s a new mistress in town. But still Knox has his doubts…

He and Blaire couldn’t be more different: Knox with his shaved head, scalp tattoo, and paint-stained fingers; Blaire in her tailored suits, glasses, and tight chignons…

Besides, how could a human woman—regardless how adventurous, or how delectable her blood—leave a more indelible mark on Knox’s heart than all he’s lost?

Knox’s queen thinks Blaire Darby is his fated mate. Knox’s chieftain thinks she’s a danger to the clan. Knox knows she’s all of that—all of that and so much more.

Because as destined as Knox and Blaire are to be together, old wounds will forever keep dragging them apart.

USA Today bestselling author A.S. Green lives in chilly Minnesota and spends the all-too-short summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for her paranormal and contemporary romances. She writes complex characters, action-packed plots, and snarky in-your-face banter. And, of course, loads of steamy love scenes.

When she's not writing romance, she's probably watching Outlander or pleading (unsuccessfully) with her husband to don the kilt she bought him last summer.

"You know what you signed on for?" he asked, as if needing to hear her confirm it.
"I signed on for a ba'vonn-shee."
"A blood drinker."
"Yes."
"You want that?"
"If it's you," she said, her voice rough, "then yes."

4.5 Blood-bonded stars!

Despite the fact that I've kept up with each of A.S. Green's paranormal romance series so far, I still find myself fully enamored with each character she creates and every story she weaves into her books. And although each series can be read separately from the others, A.S. Green manages to include small mentions of her previous characters from other series in each book (as they are all set in the fae world of Minnesota), and I love spotting these little Easter eggs as it's like revisiting old friends.

In this novel, we get Knox and Blaire's story. Knox has the 'lone-wolf' alpha male condition of thinking he doesn't need and certainly doesn't deserve anyone else getting caught up in his hot mess of a life. He's content with his life of a loner ba'vonn-shee male, biding his time and saving his money until he can finish the restoration on his house and leave his former life and attachments behind. Unfortunately for him, Blaire walks into his shop one day and upends all of his plans for a simple life. She is the mate he has dreamed of silently for years and is everything he thinks he doesn't deserve...or want.

Blaire herself has no plans of getting tied down with a man like Knox either. Rough, intense, and a man of little words, Knox is everything Blaire has vowed she would avoid in order to deviate from her mother's unsavory life choices. But as much as both Knox and Blaire don't want to fall for each other, neither can seem to deny the pull they feel toward the other. Knox's self-loathing and guilt are only amplified when their relationship puts his entire clan in danger of discovery, while Blaire's independence and very life is similarly threatened. Their love has the power to overcome all, if only Blaire can help Knox can let go of his past and move forward with her and his clan.... I loved Knox's alpha nature and Blaire's strength, although I wish there was a bit more danger and drama to overcome. I cannot wait for Callum and Zahra's story next!!

My Knox, the brooding and angsty alpha and sole Boyd heir...

The Clan is back! Green intrigued me with Blood Thorn, the first book in her Highland Fae series and now she has me hooked with the second book, Blood Rush. While all the characters I got to know in Blood Thorn are apart of the story this time the story is focused on Knox as he finds his mate and it was great. Like the previous book, this is a dual perspective, a paranormal romance that is filled with passion, magic, romance, and a little bit of danger.

I got a hint of Knox's personality in the first book but after only reading a few chapters of Blood Rush I decidedly did not like him. He is gruff, rude, angry, judgemental, and negative, He's so negative and sees everything in a bad light, what he doesn't have, what he's lost. However it's not about things he's lost it's about the people he's lost, and the familial responsibility he didn't get a chance to live up to. His negativity almost cost him, his mate Blaire, who is strong, confident, smart, tough, and adventuress. I liked her, she knows what she wants and doesn't let her past or anyone else define her.

However, as much as I disliked Knox in the beginning I started to understand him. Knox lives in the past, his father was his clan's leader and from what I can tell he wasn't very nice to Knox and Knox still carries his father's disapproval on his shoulders. Not to mention the fact that he has lost everyone, even his home and he doesn't see the family that is right in front of him. He feels like they are all living a shame as a family and doesn't really put in the effort to make the family he wasn't born into work. He feels like he doesn't have a place with them not to mention the fact that Alex is Mckee and that was a title he was supposed to have but never got. All those things plus his emotional issues made Knox's life harder than it needed to be. Knox surprisingly has layers, the main is an artist, he travels, he is family-oriented, and so much more. It was just so unexpected, seeing things from his point-of-view, and learning how he truly feels, I actually like Knox by the end of his story, which means Green is a miracle worker.

The plot was so good, seeing the attraction between Knox and Blaire, how they each responded to it. Blaire being a publicist which I don't see reading paranormal romance, and Knox being an artist whose medium is cars were both refreshing elements in the story. My favorite scene has to be when they were grocery shopping together, it was so normal, so coupley and they weren't a couple yet. Knox knew who she was to him and a part of him couldn't help but get to know her while her interest in him was far from professional. Seeing them come together just seem so natural, yet exciting because this the fae, and Ainsley who was so prevalent in the story along with the rest of the clan members. Just because Ainsley got her happy ever after didn't mean she was finished. The series may center on the couples but the family is still an important part of the story.

In Blood Rush Knox and Blaire got their happy ending, Ainsley and Alex from Blood Thorn are living the dream. Things aren't anywhere near finished because there are four more brothers who have a chance at love. Another Campbell clan member is about to find love and I can't wait to read their story in Blood Lesson.

Blood Rush is book two and a great addition to the Highland Blood Fae series. Blaire is human and Knox is fae, two complete opposites that go on an interesting journey as they realize they are fated mates. This is a page turning read and just like book one I was captivated by the storyline and all the interesting characters. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author to everyone looking for a great paranormal romance. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BLOOD RUSH". A.S. Green.dud a great job writing this second book in this amazing series "Highland Blood Fae" full of emotional turmoil, suspense, intrigue, angst, grief, loss, heartache, passion, twists that have you glued to your seat until finished reading.
Knox Boyd has a traumatic past he's not able to put behind him the loss of his entire family he's a loner who doesn't think he belongs anywhere or with anyone he's an artist even drinking blood doesn't satisfy him he'll finish restoring his house & leave to find a new life.
Blaire Darby is a publicist strong, smart, sexy, human, adventurous, walks into Knox's shop he knows she his mate but he doesn't think he deserves her or she'd want someone like him.
Knox's Queen tells him that Blair is his fated mate his Chieftan says she's a danger to their Clan he knows all this but & old wounds will keep them apart destined or not your heart goes out to him for everything he's been through.
Knox & Blair's love story is beautifully written but not an easy road for either of them but the closer they get to one another they realise they have more in common when danger arrives he becomes very possessive & protective of her with everything against them will they get their HEA.
I definitely recommend to get this extremely well written story you don't want to miss getting I'm so looking forward to the next Campbell Clan member to get their story in next book "BLOOD LESSON"

I got hooked on AS Green when I read her Hell Hounds Fated Mate series and I am really enjoying this new series. Blood Rush is the second book in the ba'vonn-shee (blood fae)clan series and gives us Knox and Blaire's story. Knox Boyde has never felt the connection to the surviving ba'vonn-shee that have created a clan as the others have felt. He wants to be on his own, back in the Highlands. As an auto artist, he has drawn the attention of publicist Blaire Darby, who convinces him to allow her to feature his skills for publicity for the auto shop where he works. Knox knows the minute he scents her, she is his mate, but fights it tooth and fang because he doesn't feel worthy. I love these two, the pace is great, the story compelling, and really steamy. I was really impressed with Alex & Ainsley in this book. Although their story is told in Blood Thorn, we see more of them here. Overall, a solid 5 read. Callum and Zahra's story is up next, can't wait!!

Supernatural and steamy
Blood Rush (Highland Blood Fae Book 2) by A. S. Green is a very well written paranormal romance. Knox will knock your socks off in his bad boy growly way all the while displaying swoon worthy protective gentleness with Blaire. This broken blood Fae will definitely get under your skin and into your heart.
I really enjoyed this book, getting to know Knox and Blaire individually as they get to know one another. Despite their differences, they have a great deal in common which Knox stubbornly refuses to acknowledge. Oh these broken bad boys are just so much fun to read and Knox truly does not disappoint!
Overall, a very well written paranormal romance with plenty of supernatural elements, alpha male tendencies to steam things up and a strong woman for a perfect match. And the ending not only has the HEA for Blaire and Knox, but the promise of more adventure to come.

Knox is not really a screw up, just emotional.

Knox was a hard man to relate to. That is until he starts to open up. He and Blair have more in common than either can imagine. My heart hurt for Knox. When danger erupts Knox loses control. I loved how sweet and attentive he was with her. Yes, a bit possessive and overprotective but his heart was in involved. The only thing I missed was knowing what happened with Mark. This is another exciting and romantic book in this series. I'm hoping Callum is next or maybe Finn. I requested an advanced copy from Booksprout and this is a voluntary review.

Having so enjoyed Blood Thorn, the first book in her Highland Fae series I was really looking forward to reading this next book, I was not disappointed. Blood Rush had me hooked from beginning to end. All the characters we met in Blood Thorn are featured in this book but this time the story concentrates on Knox and how he found his mate. I love how the author gives us the story from dual perspectives which for me always give the characters more depth.

The storyline is well-paced and there are enough action and drama woven through the story to make this more than just a romance.

A.S. Green is killing it with this one, as usual! I looooved Knox. And I loved that Blaire was 100% not putting up with his alpha tendencies. Well...for the most part anyway. Giving in to an alpha is not always a bad thing. 😂😂

I absolutely love the Highland Blood Fae world and I can't wait to read more of the brothers!

Another wonderfully written story from A.S. Green.
Knox was so bull headed, and luckily Blaire was not. She accepted everything she learned, and what Knox was, what he became to her, so easily. He, and what came with him, really was everything she'd always been looking for.
4½ stars and only because I felt like Knox and Blaire lacked the chemistry that I felt between Alex and Ainsley in the first book. I'm definitely looking forward to the other books in this series. Callum (yay! My fave!) and Zahra's book is next 🎉

This is a different and interesting storyline in this series. It is about a clan of ba’vonn-shee which are blood drinking Fae. In addition, they must rely on their queen for both their mental and physical health. This book features Knox, a ba’vonn-shee and Blaire, a human. Both were either ignored or banished by their parents. Very good read!

For a long time he’s felt alone. But could the mate he never expected change that?
Blair’s potential client was not expecting a woman and is not very receptive to her ideas, until she comes up with a plan for an article in a car magazine to highlight the shop’s painter, who creates beautiful artwork on the vehicles. Knox, the painter and a fae is not receptive to an article which will show his picture to potentially millions of people. He and his people have been hunted almost to extinction and someone could question why a person looking like him years and years ago now hasn’t aged. Knox suspects that Blair is his fated mate but she seems to be 100% human. Now what does he do? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review..

I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I am extremely disappointed with this one. All the things I enjoyed in the first book were missing from this addition.

My review of book #1 - Blood Thorn (Highland Fae, #1)

~Spoilers ahead~

Here are some things I found particularly frustrating as soon as I began this book:

1st - Blaire meets Knox because she works for a PR firm who is hired to represent what is essentially a local auto-body shop. I appreciate that it's sort of explained that it I isn't the norm - but it was still ridiculous and quite unbelievable.

2nd - Literally 1 minute after Knox and Blaire meet - Blaire gets hit by the car. Knox takes her to the house immediately so Ainsley can heal her. In what world is that reasonable?? He just met her, knows nothing about her, and has no qualms with exposing her (a human) to magic. Not to mention he's basically kidnapping her. She only broke her leg, which isn't great, but the Knox's reaction is absurd.

3rd - Her reaction to waking up in Knox's bed. She isn't even concerned! I would flip out, wondering why I was kidnapped and what's going on. Likely wondering if I stumbled upon a cult when Knox starts talking about his queen and then reveals some of his powers (running through the room super fast). Instead she's pretty relaxed and seems to have no issue that he kidnapped her and then had his "queen" heal her leg. Her reaction makes 0 sense. AND he is like oh btw I actually took your purse and drove your car here and she thought "that was unbelievable thoughtful"???? Ma'am, someone just kidnapped you and healed you with magic after you got hit by a car and you're thanking him for also going through your belongings and taking your car? Did she hit her head when the car ran into her?!

After that the book didn't get any better. I was quite bored reading this and had to force myself to complete it. I got through by skimming a lot of the last 20%. A big reason I had to force myself through this one is because I don't think the relationship between the main characters is believable. There is no time spent building a connection or showing a growing relationship between the two of them outside of their fated mate bond and physical attraction. It's not even clear to me why these two are bonded.

There also isn't an underlying storyline beyond their relationship - very little paranormal for a paranormal romance. No outside influences or issues are effecting the characters. Near the end of the book there is a threat of Knox being "found out" due to some pictures of him, but that's a pretty boring storyline and not very high stakes. I found Knox to be portrayed as super interesting in the first book - kind of a rugged alpha male - but he ends up being super hypocritical (about bonding/sticking with his own fated mate) and not much of an alpha male. He barely uses his powers and seems emotionally immature at times. My issues with Blaire mainly revolve around her absolutely bizarre reactions to what's going on around her and being exposed to what are essentially vampires. After finding out what Knox is she basically begs him to bond with her and was like "I always knew I was destined for adventure" which is just so unrealistic.

The vampire fae (I don't care to look up the correct spelling on their name) in general aren't very impressive. They drink some blood, move fast, can tilt and that's about it. There isn't much about their species that screams powerful or interesting. I mean c'mon they were almost all killed out by humans.

I wish I would have skipped this book and pretended that Blood Thorn was a standalone. I won't be reading any more books in this series.

“Blood Rush” by A.S. Green, the second installment in the “Highland Blood Fae”, a paranormal fantasy series featuring vampire Fae, a highly original mix and in itself already captivating. The stories are well-written, fast-paced, easy to read and full of twist featuring a human/vampire Fae couple that despite their starting difficulties learn to work together.

The main character couple in “Blood Rush”, Blaire & Knox, cannot be more different even if they tried, and still they are bound together with enough chemistry to fund a lab. Knox is a solitary artist, with the physique to prove it and a big chip in his shoulder since the killing of his family a couple of centuries ago. Blaire is put together, classy, elegant in suits with an intellectual air that is not only due to her glasses. Fate binds them together, against all odds, for good and bad, regardless of the opinions of the Queen, the chieftain and even Knox and Blaire, and any old wounds reopening in the process.

The story interweaves paranormal romance tropes with Scottish Fae lore into a high interesting plot, that offers action, wonderful characters, interesting situation, and a very healthy dose of banter and captivates the reader

Knox and Blaire

Knox was born a chieftan’s son, one of the ba’vonn-shee, a rare blood-drinking Fae. His race nearly wiped out, he lives with what remains of the ba’vonn-shee, focused on his art.
When Blaire, a PR specialist, comes to his place of work, it is change the way others view the place, and repair its reputation, and to do this, she wants to interview Knox.
Their attraction is immediate, but publicity can be bad for the ba’vonn-shee, exposure could ruin everything they’ve built up...

This is the second book in the series, and the third series set in this world by the author (mention of one of the characters from Fae academy series in it).
They’re highly imaginative books, with interesting characters, and a fascinating world that they’re all inhabiting. Each story in this series is a standalone romance, with fast paced storylines, and maybe a hint of danger!
Recommended for those who love paranormal romance and urban fantasy.
