Another welcomed edition to this series. It seems to be a thing that at the end of every year Black Library releases a batch of Novellas and Ware's Sisters of Battle books have become annual.
This is the 3rd Novella in the "Augusta" series (Is there a name for this series? Like the "Santorus Series.")
This book had a certain new feel to it as you got to see some Sisters in number engaged in combat, but also got some cool missions with the Augusta's squad mixed in.
There is some cool details that make things feel more tangible. Like a moment where the exorcist tanks could not fire into a location because the ark would not clear the entrance.
Also it had repressor transport tanks and that makes me happy.
No spoilers but there is a awesome/epic fight toward the end.

To get off point for a moment I wanted to share that the by the previous book I was already hooked and had wrote in my review for that book (Wreck and Ruin) that I planned to paint a Kill Team for Warhammer of Augusta and her Squad. I finished that goal, even adding some scrolls to Akemi and an Auspex to Caia.
I mention this to drive home how much I enjoy this series. I do not know if this was the final book in a trilogy or if there are some more stories to come, but I certainly hope there is more.

Sisters doing it again!

Danie Ware has captured the market in sisters of battle short stories and I have enjoyed each and every one she has published so far, and this is another superb tale of honour, duty and service to the Emperor, I look forward to her full length novel which hopefully BL will ask her to write very soon

Another fantastic entry into the now growing series of Sisters of Battle stories by Danie Ware. Her novella has been the highlight of each year's series. I enjoy the continued adventures of the Bloody Rose and am looking forward to a longer, perhaps novel, story in the future. One can hope.

This book reminds me of Nick Kyme's Salamander series. Slow but steady advance to achieve the protagonists goals. Some people love'em, some people hate'em but the "Kyme Salamanders" aspect is very strong in this Sororitas story. "The Rose in Anger" has very little anger in it. Maybe for the better.

Three stars for Sister Viola's "thrice-blessed heavy bolter".

Another classic case of "just one more chapter" syndrome.

Once again we join Sister Augustus and her squad but rather than the 'squad on a mission' format, we get to see the sisters take part in full scale adrenaline-pumping battle and while I'm not generally a huge fan of combat heavy books, I loved every minute of this and hope to read more Sisters of Battle stories from Danie soon.

Three novellas that didn’t truly work as a series. The first novella could’ve been a solid short story, while the second two are clearly just a novel chopped in half. Black Library can sometimes price gouge and I felt unhappy paying more for two novellas rather than one novel. This irritation overwhelmed the stories themselves, even though I liked the characters well enough.

A good little Kill Team level battle set in a bigger engagement. Loose ends are tied up. These characters need a proper novel length treatment.

Danie Ware does a decent job of filling in what's come before, but this is clearly part of a larger narrative. A continuation of Wreck & Ruin, it seems! I suspect that both will read better as a whole. Hopefully, both parts, The Bloodied Rose, and Danie's other Adepta Sororitas shorts will at some point get a collected reprint so I'll be able to find out.
