The thing about being in the public eye since birth, is that everyone thinks they know me. They don’t. They don’t know that the public smiles hide private threats to toe the family line.

The pro-reg supporters who sent my father to public office hate me. To them, I’m Henry, the deviant who took away their voice. Psions don’t trust me. I’m an Anselm, and our family has done more to fight against psion rights than any other single entity. I get that. I never asked for it, but I understand their distrust.

Telepathy sucks when you live with people who hate what you are. If I could figure out how to leave, I would. But Father took a huge career risk in publicly embracing me as a psion, so he planned to wring every possible benefit out of my abilities.

That’s where Will, my professional anchor, enters the picture. My family’s wealth pays for his services. When my telepathy proved unstable, I needed a link with an anchor to regain control. How else could I get all the dirt on Father’s rivals?

For the right price, Will overlooks the name signed on his paycheck. His link keeps my telepathy stable. He changes my entire world when he invites me home to meet his long-time lover, Dana. Together they show me there’s more to life than obedience to my family’s whims. Their love might just make me brave enough to choose my own path.

Except, as Father often reminds me, the Anselm family has money—I don’t. If I step out of line, then I risk losing Will and Dana. My anchor. The only people who touch me. Talk to me. Treat me like I matter. I’d do anything for them, even let them go.

New Ground is a M/M/NB (genderqueer) romance with political intrigue, psychic powers, intense mental connections, light Daddy kink with a slightly spoilt boy, some chastity play, a slight age gap (7 years), and a polyamorous relationship with long-time lovers welcoming in a new third partner. There is mention of past trauma including infant loss, abusive/neglectful parents, homelessness, and nonconsensual recording of sex tapes.

I absolutely loved this marvelous, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, raw, gritty, make-me-want-to-rattle-some-teeth, fresh, original, completely unexpected, unconventional, intriguing, and totally awesome twist on the usual paranormal storyline. Harry, Will, and Dana's journey to their HEA ending is anything but smooth, but in the end, it was well worth it. I was hooked from the very first page, and would definitely recommend getting this marvelous gem immediately.

Henry is an Anselm, a member of a family steeped in riches, power, and corruption. Henry is also a psion, controlled and manipulated into doing his family’s bidding. Will is Henry’s hired anchor, a vital component of his sanity and the only truly caring person in his life, that is, until he takes Henry home to meet his partner, Dana. Dana and Will introduce Henry to an entirely new range of physical and emotional intimacy-- their dynamics are always mediated through clear communication and consent, which is exactly what Henry needs. Will is nurturing and, like the Daddy he is, controlling whenever he gets the chance to be. Dana is too independent to need a Daddy, but loves Will enough to want him to have what he needs, and Henry finds a place in his heart for them both. There’s plenty of steam, but also deep emotional connection, and watching them all fall for each other is deeply rewarding. It’s not all sweetness and light by any stretch of the imagination though: the story this book tells is intense (definitely heed the content warnings)-- Henry’s family is prejudiced, criminal, and violent, and the way they treat him can be hard to read. Dana and Will offer Henry his first tastes of a normal life-- but Will’s salary is at Henry’s father’s discretion. There are many, many, challenges to face, but it’s definitely satisfying to see the three of them get through them to their HEA.

I admit that this was a new author for me and a genre I don’t read as much as others but I really enjoyed this book.
Henry is a Psion and his father hires William to be his Anchor. William has a gender-fluid partner, Dana but because he has to spend so much time grounding Henry as he does his family’s bidding of reading others to bring in more money and prestige to the family business. Henry hates his work and struggles more and more forcing William to spend less time with Dana than he wants to, so William starts bringing him home where he meets Dana. Together they fulfil each other’s needs and fall in love but not without some danger and angst from Henry’s family.
Henry was a cute character that I just couldn’t help feeling sorry for and he so needed William’s strength to anchor him while he used his telepathic abilities. I loved Dana and the sense of fun they brought to the story. Together all three made a hot, sexy triad. Henry’s family on the other hand were wonderfully awful and brought the story of the 3 MCs to life, though I wanted worse things to happen to them than did in the end. This book held me captive from the first page to the last and I highly recommend this book.
I was given an ARC of this book to review and this is my honest opinion.

For those of us who like all sorts of different characters and the incredible mix of tropes we see in the blurb know this is going to be our jam, even if the author can't really integrate them all together. For those folks, let me say that this author has expertly woven all of them together and you won't be disappointed in the least. Others, however, might avoid this one: those who don't enjoy sf/paranormal type stories. Please, please read this. The world is so well constructed that you will understand and buy into everything and the paranormal will seem perfectly "normal". Most importantly, these characters are fully developed people and you will want to know what happens to them in any world they appear in. I especially loved all the political machinations going on. There's nothing better than a family political saga if you come from the South like I do. Also, I don't often comment on covers but I must say this one is absolutely stunning in both the face and the colour scheme.

This was a very interesting paranormal story. William is an anchor to both Henry (his job) and Dana (his lover). Henry is a telepath and Dana is telekinetic. Will was hired by Henry’s father but Dana and Will have been in a relationship for some time. This storyline has lots of emotions between the three of them. Henry craves closeness and love. Dana has emotional issues that she is sorting through. William has a daddy kink and Henry fills that spot. So this ends up as a poly relationship where Dana and Henry have their own special relationship. Everything fits together for them.

Henry is an Anselm. His family is power hungry and manipulative. He’s also a psion. They hire Will as an anchor. Will has a partner, Dana. Will introduces Henry to Dana. This was fantastic! Emotional and steamy. Loved their HEA! Loved it! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.

all the feels

This spinoff of Psions of SPIRE takes the story one step further and stronger. This follows the series taking place several years later. One of the main characters is mentioned casually in the final book as part of the reason both SPIRE and the codified discrimination against Psions came to an end. His father headed the anti-Psions politics in Congress prior to his emergence. Did this make his father a good guy? No the family continued to skirt around the letter of the law to both make themselves look like they were fully supporting and following all the laws giving new freedoms and protections from discrimination and the keep on the good side of all the anti-Psion people who donated to them.
This book begins with Henry meeting his possible new anchor after being betrayed by both his prior anchor and his father. Part of the new anchors job is to prevent anyone from finding out what kind of psion Henry actually was. No one to learn that Henry wasn’t a low level telekenitic but rather a high level telepathy. At first William sees him as a spoiled brat but he quickly realizes that what his family demands from him is causing damage to him. Dana Williams partner expresses a willingness to meet Henry. All three are surprised by how well they get along. Their relationship developed and grows as Henry stumbles under the weight of his entire family’s use of him.
There’s is more visible sex in this book perhaps because the characters are more mature and the book reads more like NA or just adult as opposed to most of the series which reads more like a YA/NA hybrid. This book shows the seedier side of the things those in power do to maintain their status quo. It is sad but I found some direct correlations between policies in this book and real world business policies which do just enough to look like they don’t discriminate in hiring, firing and advancement when in reality a closer look reveals they do.
This book may not be a good read for anyone sensitive to emotional abuse and manipulation, infant death, the evil people do and then keep tucked away inside their head and physical attacks as well as emotional manipulation but for the rest of us there may be some hard parts but it is a fantastic book.

Psions of SPIRE is one of my favorite series and I love the mix of adventures, paranormal and a love story. This MMNBi new romance in the series, is a spinoff and has many of those elements that gave an extra to the story. The NBi part and all the situations related to the triad were written beautifully by the author finding the balance inside the plot in a very witty and knowledgeable way. Some parts were angsty but the whole of the story is sweet and a little kinky totally making up for it. I enjoyed so much the story! Highly recommended!

A lonely life

Henry is a telepath but his father a powerful politician keeps that fact a secret and forces Henry to use his powers for his benefit as does his uncle a businessman. His powers can overwhelm Henry so a professional anchor is used, after several unsatisfactory pairings William is hired and after a year working together their relationship deepens. William is in an open relationship with Dana and the three start to spend their off duty times together. An interesting story that has quite a lot of angst and trauma. A M/M/NB contemporary romance.

This was a very interesting and new story. I enjoyed the different take on this sort of a paranormal story. It had so many sweet moments full of lots of comfort and moments that felt very fuzzy. The beginning was a bit difficult for me to get into but once I got into it i started to get very attached to the characters. Once I fell in love with the characters I started to really love them. Definitely hope to see more of these characters and this author’s story.
