When you start reading 'Illusions' - the first in the 'Dreamers' series by Anna C you expect it to be a feel good boy - meets - girl routine love story, that, in true Anna C style has love, lust and a lot of emotions too.

But Shaurya and Esha's love story is so much more than just that - as you slowly understand once you really delve in. From start to finish, the book tackles a range of issues that really need more looking into when it comes to popular culture and literature and I love that Anna deals with them in a mature and very matter of fact manner.

Set in the fictional town of Shaktipur and tracing the relationships of the Krishna Kumar family, Esha and Shaurya meet by chance on a plane and eventually figure that their destination is the same - which sort of sets the metaphor for the rest of the story. The most significant part though, for me, is how an important social issue is tackled so beautifully, and with such varied reactions from different members of the family across generations.

Another aspect quite impressive about Anna C's works in general and also this book is how issues that are supposedly taboos like use of contraceptives and pre-marital sex are normalized - in the 21st century, if both parties are willing to take complete and equal responsibility for their acts, then there is no reason to hush all this up! I've said this to the author as well - the fact that she includes consent as an important part of any relationship in the story seamlessly and firmly is truly commendable.

Gone are the days of heroines being coerced into sex and then eventually love and making their peace with it - a fact that is wrong on so many levels. Anna's female leads are strong, independent women who know what they want and are not shy about expressing their desires, needs and wants.

There are also glimpses into the protagonists that will form a part of the rest of the series - Shreya, Samar and Samaira and I am eagerly looking forward to reading all their wonderful stories. I know Anna will treat them all beautifully, and can't wait to see what she has in store!

First of all, after reading short stories that can be done in hardly a few hours, “Illusions” took me two to three days to wrap up. And boy! It was worth it!

Being a Kannadiga, the moment I read something that’s so close to my hometown I was hooked! And that’s just the bonus; the Author Anna C creates a relatable story with characters that you can totally connect with!
The fictional town Shaktipur and plot weaved around the town, is so beautifully crafted that I could picture every scene vividly in my head! The author doesn’t drag the story; even though it’s quite elaborate, every moment, every scene is well put and thoroughly written!

Illusions is the first book in the dreamers’ series and talks about – Shaurya – one of the grandkids of Sarayu Krishna Kumar, the matriarch of the family. The bonding between the families, the struggles that resonate well with the current generation, the subtle touch of humor, and a whole lot of heart-warming romance! What more do you need?

I vote that this book has total potential for turning into a south Indian movie 😛

Well, I will be reading the next books but may not happen soon. I am still enjoying the aftermath of reading this beauty! All in all, this is a perfect package that you wouldn’t regret reading. Completely enjoyable and will leave your heart all mushy and gooey!

The most important part of Anna's writing is her stories and the way she describes it. They are always the full package of a strong base to the story, love, romance passionate sex, lust and much more.
Everytime she comes up with a new book I just get lost in her world of fiction.
Her stories are so real that you could relate to them easily and can enjoy to the fullest.
Each book of her has a charm to attract readers and to finish reading it in one go.

This story also has the same charm. The story of shaurya and Esha and their passionate love life which has its own past yet a beautiful and happy ending.
Waiting for the next book in the series maybe the story of shreya or samar 🤞🤞

I LOVED IT

this my first book was written by you and i loved it.. a simple story of love faith and forever but scripted perfectly to sync with the characters. i loved the cousins bonding and love for home town... its always the roots that will hold up the family.. and home town is that root. secondly i loved the way you have left the snippets of the couples to come togather like kiara 's crush for sameer Shreyas crush for zain... this will surely keep me fixated to you books in the near future.
