Six years ago, Kitty Valentine took the book world by storm when her sweet debut romance hit number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which was followed by a string of successful releases. Her latest novel, however, totally bombs, causing her editor to suggest she write much sexier books. To Kitty, writing smut is the literary equivalent of stripping. But with no advance coming in and her royalties dipping to an all-time low, Kitty has no choice. Armed with a hot-guy spinning prize wheel, made by her best friend, listing all the different types of men she will date and then write about, Kitty will be spinning-not stripping-her way back onto the best-sellers list.

I can't believe we only have one more Kitty Valentine book... I've loved watching Kitty spin the wheel and date the guy time after time. This time, she's writing a sports romance, because she lands on a hockey player. It's been months since she's spinned the wheel or dated a guy, but it's time to get back to writing...
Kitty's not sure where she'll find a hockey player but Matt comes to the rescue. He used to play for a league and takes her to one of their practices. The best player on the team, Luke, just happens to be single.
I liked Luke a lot and enjoyed the family dynamic he brought to the story. Kitty's story was great, but I was glad that some of my favorite side characters had big things going on as well.
The end of this book left me so happy. I had the biggest smile on my face for so many reasons. Her Grandma's story line, Hayley's, and of course Kitty's. I hope that the direction of the final book goes the way I think it will, because the build up has been too good for it not to!
If you're looking for a series with shorter books that will keep you hooked from start to finish, check out Kitty Valentine. I've had so much fun reading these books!
Kitty is on to her next trope. Hopefully this hot hockey player is a keeper!
“Matt gives me a discreet thumbs-up when I pass him, like he approves. And I very much approve of him in his tuxedo. Tall, dark, and handsome. The guy who’s always there for me. ” “Everything’s changing. Even my grandmother is moving into a new phase of her life. And now, Hayley is too.” I glance up at him and find him already gazing down at me. “I mean, where does that leave me? I’m still in the same place I was before.” “You don’t have to move at anybody else’s pace. Things happen the way they’re meant to happen.”
Kitty doesn’t have to look too far to find her next dating target. It turns out her neighbour Matt used to play hockey and is more than happy to help her find someone to date for her next story.
Luke is one of the few singles left in the team he plays for and it has nothing to do with his looks. He is very focused on his future and getting drafted is his end goal. Getting deeply involved with a girl is not something he cares for right now but having a bit of fun with Kitty is definitely something he is up for. All in the name of research of course!
Luke is incredible to watch on the ice, Kitty goes from knowing nothing about hockey to keenly watching him at practice as much as she can. She also learns about the other side aka the girls dating the guys, well she is one of them now. Some of the girls are truly genuine while others are really just interested in what they can get out of it.
Luke is also really close friends with Matt so the romance growing between her and Luke also has to compete with the bromance between the guys. When she is just with Luke though, it is amazing. His talents on the ice extend to the bedroom and Kitty enjoys every moment of it. Even though the paper thin walls weigh on her mind - a lot.
As well as Kitty’s dating life with Luke, there is another important love story playing out for her Grandmother and Peter as they seal the deal officially. But wait there’s more, someone else close to Kitty is getting loved up to… it seems like love is in the air everywhere in this 8th instalment of Kitty’s dating quest.
And then, the moment I have been waiting for is dangled in front of me and it’s still out of reach, boo hoo! I really hope that Kitty is on the naughty list for Santa this year!
• Thank you to Jillian and Valentine PR for eARC!• SCREAMING. IM JUST SCREAMING. I’m so happy watching this story pan out for all of these books and knowing it’s about to end...I just love how it’s going. This was soooo fun and I loved seeing a sports romance play out for Kitty who seemed so uninterested in everything having to do with hockey at first. This was another great guy that had me wondering what was going to go wrong the entire time. Wow i’m sorry i’m just still reeling over that ending. There’s only one book left now and I can’t believe it. #TeamMatt
There’s only one book left for this series and I am teary-eyed but also happy to finally see my wish for Kitty come true!😬
In this novel Kitty gets to date Luke, a hockey player focused on going pro. Their story was cute and not gonna lie, they fit together as they had many things in common and lots of chemistry. But as we all know, not everything goes to plan with Kitty...
Also I may add, that I am thrilled for Kitty’s bestfriend Hayley for finding her soulmate after all she’s gone through, and for Kitty’s grandma story; her and Peter are the cutest couple ever, they are really endearing 😍🥰
And that ending... GOD! Can’t wait to read the last book and see her HEA.
After a few months off from her last disaster of dating, it's time for Kitty to spin the wheel again. This time it lands on a hockey player. This one might the hardest to find yet for Kitty. Though guess who saves the day again?! None other than the hottie/ pain in the butt neighbor of hers. Matt has been keeping secrets from Kitty, one being that he used to play hockey and might be able to help her out. Though after what went down a few months ago, will Matt help her find a new date?
Things are heating up for Kitty in all the right ways. What I have been waiting to happen is finally happening!! I am so excited to get my hands on the final installment of this series! If things don't go as I want them, I might throw a tiny temper tantrum but that's fine. Sort of. Maybe. Okay, not really. This series is under my skin and now I will be patiently waiting for the next like always when it comes to Jillian's books.
Can I just say......... I love this series so damn much. I don’t think there’s ever been a series than had me smiling and swooning like an idiot this much before. I’ve said it so many times for my reviews of the previous books in this series, but this is the damn cutest thing I’ve ever read and will probably ever read!!! Kitty has easily made her way to becoming one of my favorite romance gals ever. And don’t even get me started on Matt. Their entire story is literally my dream so this is the absolute best thing ever to live vicariously through these books. And I can’t believe it’s almost over. 😭
My heart died in this book. For so many reasons. It's obvious in this book the toll all of this dating is taking on Kitty. But she soldiers on for the sake of her career. After taking a break, she spins the wheel again and gets a hockey player. The catch is that Matt is the one that connects her with Luke, a former teammate. And if you've been reading along, you can just imagine the drama that this situation produces. Life seems to be moving on for a lot of people around Kitty and I think this part of the story really has her thinking about the long term and what she really wants out of life. Each book comes and goes and I think I can't possibly like the next one even better but I do. And the finale is next and I am bursting with excitement for it.
Kitty Valentine Dates a Hockey Player is the second to last book in this series. Kitty has taken quite the sabbatical to writing after things didn’t go as planned with Paxton. It's been six months and it's time for Kitty to get back into the swing of things. Of course, Hayley is right there to help her choose her next trope! No surprise here that it lands on the hockey player! Thankfully with a little help from a friend, Kitty meets Luke, a professional hockey player! Things start of great but in true Kitty fashion, they don't end as well as they begin. As usual, I absolutely loved this book. @Jilliandodd did such a great job with this book! I absolutely loved the writing and her ability to take you along for the ride that is Kitty's life. Jillian was able to make me feel connected to the characters throughout this rollercoaster ride! I found myself falling for the characters right there with Kitty. I really hope you guys give Kitty Valentine a chance because I think you'll fall in love with this series just like I did! Thanks Jillian for the chance to read this!
Yes, I finished this in one sitting the second I could get my hands on it. I NEED the next one like yesterday. I just I have to know. I love watching these characters grow and develop and just have fun too. I love the relationships and I might have cried a tiny bit because it was just so heartwarming. I loved how invested Kitty eventually became in the sport. I loved it so much. My girl Phoebe was the cutest as always. #TeamMatt. I need more Matt, that’s all I really ask. This is going to be the slowest weeks of all weeks. I’m just waiting for it to be the 21st already.
"I might not know how to move forward from this or what it means in the grand scheme of things, but ... And that's enough to make me feel incredibly happy."
The last year and a half has been a whirlwind! Kitty Valentine has been writing different tropes to stay relevant. But it's an emotional toll. It's everything behind the scenes, where her heart is dragged through the mud. Kitty has come to both love and hate the spinning trope wheel: Kitty Valentine Dates a Hockey Player.
Guess who loves hockey? The infuriating, fascinating, annoying, sweet-when-he-feeks-like-it guy across the hall. However, Matt and Kitty= platonic friendship. Sad trombone! Wah, wah, wah! Say, what! Matt isn't just some hot guy, they've become close. He's creeping into her heart. Lock. That. Up. Kitty! Will Matt help Kitty out or will he point her in the direction of a hockey player? I adore this series! Kitty's grandmother and Peter's second-chance romance is darling. True-abiding love. So do you think the next book will be Kitty Valentines Dates her Hot Neighbor? I do! Out of all the KV books my two faves have been cowboy and hockey player. Bring on Santa! Readers who enjoy romantic comedies such as How To Lose A Guy In 10 days and 27 Dresses will fall for Kitty Valentine. (and Matt Ryder).
BIG thanks to Jillian Dodd for giving me the opportunity to dive into an advanced reader copy. Much love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My heart goes out to Kitty feeling used and not wanting to date for books anymore. It's hard when you have a contract to uphold or else lose your job.
Kitty has grown so much throughout this series, but she's still a bit naive. I was over the moon happy about the ending of this book and I can't wait for the next one. I pray she gets the happily ever after I've wanted with Matt since book one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am really enjoyed this series! Kitty Valentine is such a fun character and I have loved following her dates. I love sports romances and this did not disappoint. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read this series, so I will say one thing: BRING ON SANTA!
This book actually was kind of hard to get through. Usually it’s so fun and light but this one made me choke up a bit at times. Guys WE’RE REACHING THE END. I can’t believe there’s only one book left. Like how??? I’m so sad but excited and nervous at the same time. It’s weird lol. This ending of this book made me really hopeful but also sad. Especially when it came to Hailey!!! Like ughh I’m so happy for her but sad in general because of it. I’m just a ball of emotions right now and I seriously want the next book. Thank god it comes out this month. I don’t know if a I can wait till next year.
Kitty Valentine is dating a hockey player in this episode and its was Matt that introduced her to Luke as he used to play hockey. The story was funny and witty and I liked Luke but I'm still #TeamMatt. Although they are both friends, Matt is slowly but surely working his way into Kitty's heart. I loved that we get Kitty's Grandmother romance also playing out in this story as well as Hayley's. I loved the ending of this novel and I can't wait to see what's next. This was another great addition to the series and I enjoyed it.
This past year and a half has been a whirlwind. I’ve been writing different tropes to stay relevant, and that’s not all. I’ve actually dated a guy from each trope, determined by a hand-dandy spinner Hayley created, and I’m so very much over it. It isn’t the mechanics of putting a new book together that has me dragging my feet on the way to what I suspect isn’t oing to be a very happy, happy hour. It’s the emotional toll. It’s everything that goes on behind the scenes, where my heart is dragged through the mud on a consistent basis. I really don’t feel like dating anybody new just so I can write a new book. And I certainly don’t need to be reminded of how I’m neglecting my career by essentially going on hiatus. “The whole reason you haven’t written a new book is months is because you’re hung up on Matt. If you really like Matt, why not come out and tell him?”
“Honestly, I’m tired. Tired of dating and writing about tropes. I miss the days when I could just write what I wanted. Sweet romances that filled readers’ hearts with joy. You once asked if it was worth it, and i said it was. That I was happy to be getting out and meeting new people, but I’m not sure my emotions can take this roll-coaster ride for much longer.”
I want this. Plain and simple. I’m tired of writing about people who find their true love while I bounce from one date to another, one boyfriend to another. I’ve been reaching out, hoping desperately that this will be the one. Paxton was about as close as I’ve ever come. I just feel this ever-present sense of yearning for something more. Something bigger. Something extraordinary. I can’t help it. I got into this business because I wanted to write about the sort of man I couldn’t find in real life. Somebody wonderful, dependable, strong but loving. I’ll always believe in romance-I mean, the evidence is right here in front of me, too obvious and too sweet to ignore. I just need to start believing it’s possible for me.
“So, do you think the next book will be Kitty Valentine Dates her Hot Neighbor.”
“Kathryn, you must know how difficult it would be for someone who is fond of you to see you dating someone else.” “We’re not dating though. We never have. If he feels that way about me, why hasn’t he ever said anything?” “Do you want to know what I suspect?” “Please.” “He’s kept his feeling to himself for the sake of your career.” Gulp. That can’t be true, can it?
The next set of eyes I find are Matt’s. Grandmother impressed on me that I did, in fact, need a plus-one. No matter how much I balked, she wouldn’t hear of it. Matt gives me a discreet thumbs-up when I pass him, like he approves. And I very much approve of him in his tuxedo. Tall, dark, and handsome. The guy who’s always there for me. My best guy friend. I’m so glad we made up and that he could be here with me even though he’s dating What’s Her Name.
The arm around my waist tightens. “What would you make of a guy who broke things off with a girl because she couldn’t possibly live up to the girl he really cares about? How would you write that character?” he asks, his voice deep and sexy. My heart is so full that I can hardly breathe. “Um, I think after putting him through his paces I’d finally ease up and let him have what he wants.” We’re not dancing anymore. We’re not moving. We’re staring into each other’s eyes like there’s nobody here but the two of us. This is it. There’s no going back now. I’m in love with him. And I know he’s in love with me. I feel it. I see it in his eyes, something I haven’t seen in anyone but him. “Everybody! Time to cut the cake!” Peter calls out. Of course it is.
I am a sports girl. I love baseball, football and hockey. So I was really excited to read this book. This book is truly amazing. I love Luke, he was yummy, but you know, Matt has my heart. My love for Matt and Kitty is grows stronger with each book. I can’t wait to read Kitty Valentine Dates Santa. I don’t want this series to end, but if the series continue then Matt and Kitty won’t get together. So, I’m okay that the next book is the last book of the series. Plus, I’m even more okay because the next book is about Matt and Kitty!! 5 stars.
I have really been enjoying this series, but I’m so ready for the last book. I’m really hoping things go the way I’m wanting. It’s time for Kitty to spin the wheel and find a new guy to date, it’s time fir a Hockey player. This was a fun quick read you don’t want to miss.
After a long sabbatical, Kitty has spun the wheel again! This time she manages to land herself a hockey player! I’m not sure about you, but I love a good sports romance!!
Kitty gets introduced to Luke by her neighbor, Matt. Luke was a great character for Kitty to write about. His goals, determination, and all around love for the game were something I enjoyed! But I think I can speak for everyone who’s been following along that Kitty actually dating this guy is a little frustrating..
Now for the other characters that we all love! Hayley in this book is spectacular. Always telling Kitty how it is && she’s actually coming into her own! Hayley is one of the best friends out there && I’m so happy for her in this book. Grandma && Peter.. SWOON! You’ll just have to read the book for all the romance there.
Matt. Ryder. Kitty’s only guy friend. Her hottie neighbor. The guy who introduced her to Luke. I’m just gonna sum everything up && say, I need December 21st to get here ASAP.
This book had me pining for a happy ending!!!! Kitty needs a win!!!!
This book was in my opinion one of the better ones in the series!!
Kitty needs to make another book. Insert the spinner and put comes a hockey player. And who knows a hockey player... Matt. Ya know, hot sexy neighbor who kissed Kitty a while ago? That that Matt. So not only does he confuse the crap out of Kitty by setting her up, but he sends mixed signals by blocking her dates with him... like what is going on!!!
Kitty is confused, she’s hurt Matt is setting her up and moving on, yet angry he is blocking Luke. Not only does she need to write a book, but she needs to figure out her feelings too before it’s too late and Matt moves on for good.
What will happen with Kitty and hockey guy? What about Kitty and Matt!!!!!!!
I have enjoyed the Kitty Valentine series tremendously and can't believe that there's only one book left to go after this one!
When this installment began, Kitty was missing a bit of her usual exuberance; things with neighbor/frenemy (and now potential love interest) Matt were still awkward after the events of the last book, and Kitty was starting to question whether she should continue to use real dates to inspire her fictional stories. Her editor was still a big fan of the concept, so Kitty met up with her best friend Hayley to spin the trope wheel and choose her next "research subject." The spinner landed on hockey player, and oddly enough, it was Matt who agreed to put Kitty in touch with someone who could help with her project. He introduced her to his friend and former college teammate Luke, who quickly charmed Kitty while teaching her the ins and outs of the sport. However, would Matt really be able to sit back and watch Kitty fall in love with another man? (I've been Team Matt from the very beginning, so I hope not!)
As always, Kitty's friends and family were delightful additions to the story, and I enjoyed checking in with them to see what was happening in their lives. I especially enjoyed the secondary romance featuring Kitty's grandmother and her butler-turned-boyfriend Peter, who are the sweetest couple. Kitty's best friend Hayley seems to have found love too, which made me very happy. I was hoping to see Hayley find love before the end of the series, though I'd be sad if she ends up leaving New York to be with her new boyfriend. It's tough to imagine a world in which Kitty and Hayley aren't together!
With only one book remaining in the series, I can't wait to see how everything wraps up for Kitty and her friends. In the meantime, I highly recommend "Kitty Valentine Dates a Hockey Player" (as well as Kitty's previous adventures) for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy.

How in the world am I supposed to leave a review for this 8th installment in the Kitty Valentine series without giving away important details?!?! I'm over here stomping my feet while covering my mouth because please...! Let's just start at the beginning...Once again Kitty spins the wheel to find her next trope arriving at a hockey player. Saving the day, her neighbor Matt (the man we all want her with!) introduces her to his former teammates allowing her to get up close and personal with the sport and his friends. Kitty is immediately drawn to the most dedicated (and thankfully single) player. Even I really thought he was the one! He's a great guy and has so much going for him that I was TORN! What about MATT?!?! This is not my story to tell. Bring on Santa!!!!
I finished this book so quickly because I couldn't get enough! The wheel is spun and lands on "hockey player." Kitty discovers that her neighbor, Matt, is a former hockey player and Matt introduces Kitty to Luke. I really enjoyed Kitty and Luke's relationship. I felt like Kitty was able to be herself around Luke but her relationship with Matt made things a bit awkward. This is another book where I really looked forward to hearing about Kitty's friendships with Haley and grandma especially their love lives! The ending made me very impatient for Santa!
I love me a sports romance, so Kitty's new adventure with a hockey player was the perfect book to be number 8 in this series. Jillian Dodd did not disappoint. Kitty finds her hockey player in pure Kitty fashion. I loved that we not only followed Kitty's story here, but we also had tons of insight into what is going on with the other characters in the story. I really loved Luke, but Matt is still in the background, and even more present in this book since the two are friends. I can't believe this is getting close to the end, but what an end I hope it will be!!
Well, Kitty has had a good run the last couple of years with her spinning wheel. Dating new guys every few weeks. Getting to know some of the guys well (wishing she didn't know others). Breaking hearts and getting hers bruised a few times too. But in this installment, Kitty is starting to realize this revolving door of men may not be so much fun anymore. Her grandmother is moving on with her life. Her best friend is finding true love. And Kitty is looking for a change. Is her hockey player the answer? Or does she have one more trope left in her? Time will tell...
I’m a little giddy with this little hockey player romance. I did like how Matt had a hookup with a hockey team to help with Kitty’s next spinner selection. Kitty is going into this date with eyes wide open after having burn out from so many disastrous guys. I love the angsty place her friendship with Matt is hovering at. All in all, Luke and Kitty share some steamy scenes and decent chemistry. A few story twists and a very sweet ending made me smile. I’m hopeful for the next book and can’t wait to see where Kitty takes her dating adventures next!
I love a sports romance and Jillian always knows how to give me sports and love and a little glam all in one. I loveee Luke and I love his chemistry with Kitty and his passion which is something we haven’t seen from other male leads since Blake. Hayley gets her dream guy and he’s so awesome too and I’m so excited for her. Kitty has a few big realizations across the board and I’m really looking forward to what comes next!

The Kitty Valentine Series is best enjoyed read in order. In this installment of Kitty Valentine’s dating adventures, the wheel is spun and its a hockey player.
Kitty has taken a hiatus from dating and writing after the fall out from Paxton. Add the surprise kiss from Matt and her head and heart just are not in it. With a little encouragement from Hayley, the dating wheel is broken out and spun. Kitty is torn between wanting to date again and wanting to explore her new feelings for Matt. Help on the hockey player hunt comes unexpectedly from Matt. He just keeps surprising Kitty with things she didn’t know about him. Kitty meets Luke and they have an instant liking to one another. Their first date does not go well, but after talking about his past Kitty begins to understand him better. Their relationship begins to progress. But, if Luke’s hockey career takes off where will that leave them? Plus, Kitty still hasn’t figured out what is going on with Matt and her feelings towards him.
This series has been so fun to read. I love Kitty’s relationship with her grandmother and the banter between them. You can feel their love for one another as you read their exchanges.
If you are looking for lighthearted, funny, easy, and interesting take on a romance series, you should definitely pick this one up!!
So, I wouldn’t hate a Kitty Finally Dates Her Hot Neighbor....☺️
