My men are trapped in the underworld and all I've got is a pair of ice skates and a letter.
Hi! I'm Peppermint.
Yes, my Mom did name me after her favorite candy flavor. She was young, a single mom, and there wasn't anyone to guide her. I shouldn't blame her . . .
And I'm a cardinal shifer.
No, I don't turn into a priest. Cardinal is a red bird native to North and South America. Not as cool as a chameleons shifter or anything, but it wouldn't be bad . .
Except I have a special power unique to cardinals.
I'm a messenger to the afterlife, and I just received the strangest message. Three huge, hunky Vikings are trapped in the underworld—ALIVE—and I'm the only one who can hear their S.O.S. and save them from another 1000 years of captivity.
If only I knew how . . .
Peppermint is a paranormal reverse harem romance. It's part of the Silver Springs shared universe.
Cali Mann is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Thornbriar Academy series. She writes paranormal romance, the sexy kind with why choose, hunky shifters, sexy vampires, and women who stand up for themselves. She learned romance by reading through her mother's entire Gothic romance collection in her teens so she and romance go way back. When she's not writing, she spends her time streaming shows, playing video games, and pestering her two tuxedo cats. Find out more at calimann.com
So, yesterday, when I finished the previous book I was reading, I thought about making a little start in this book. I was thinking about one or two chapters, just to get a feel for the characters and to get me excited for today. However, the idea to read "just a few chapters" didn't really work out. I ended up literally reading half of the book and then I was forced to quit because I had to do my work-out, else I might have ended up finishing it.
That does say something about the book. From the start I was pulled into the story and it was quite hard to put the book down. And that's firstly because the book has a lovely plot! As someone who really loves books having a plot going on beyond the "will they get together or not?"-plot standard for a romance I was really happy with everything that was going on in this book. The characters had a clear goal. To be together, they had to break the curse from Loki.
And Loki is the second reason it was hard to put this book down. Even though he wasn't that prominent, he was quite clearly there and it was quite nice to see him back after our short encounter in Kali's book. And also, when Loki is involved things usually get interesting. In this book he also has quite a few tricks on his sleeve, and not just Loki, and that leads to some amazing scenes and some really entertaining situations. Well, for the reader. Not so much for the characters.
Last but not least, I also really loved the characters in this story. Peppermint really is the kinda woman I like. She has everything she needs in her, but she just needs a little push to discover that it's okay to fight for yourself and your wellbeing. She also was the perfect match for her three vikings. Not only because she could actually reach them to begin with, but also because she can take care of herself, but she also needs guys who are not afraid to help her when needed. (Just like they know when they have to step back and let her do things on her own!)
It's hard to believe that there are only 5 books left this season! I can't wait to read them!
Peppermint was so different from other books I've read by Cali Mann, but it was so perfect for the Silver Springs books. Pepper was such a sweet character and I loved her dedication to helping her mates no matter the consequences. She's a quirky, clumsy little thing, but that makes you like her even more.
The combination of Vikings as well as the different pantheons was definitely fun and put a nice twist on the rules that the gods play by. I really enjoyed that the quests the group had to go through to try and set things straight revolved around Loki and Hel, and that Loki's trickster ways and Hel's command of the dead were able to be shown a bit.
I will say that this story moves pretty quickly, as do most of the Silver Springs books, so be prepared for things to get turned up shortly into the story.
What can I say about peppermint. She is a timid little bird with a big taste in music with dreams of her men being the same. Little did she know a letter could change so much. Leading her to 3 hot and heavy mates with a tale to tell all there own. With a curse to break and not a lot of time to do it. Will they succeed and create their own long overdue happy ever after. Brilliantly written, fabulous characters awesome story a great addition to the silver skates family.
Who knew that Silver Skates could get any better? I did! Why? These group of authors just keep up the great personalities of the characters.
Peppermint, sweet, caring and even has an adventurous streak. She is a cardinal shifter, she works for the post office, and she also carries letters to the Underworld. She finds her mates and has to rescue them. I highly recommend this book. You should absolutely read this story. You should read the series.
Peppermint made me laugh from the beginning and was just a terrific book. I loved (semi spoilers) the Vikings watching Vikings lol. For me it really is the small stuff that makes me smile most. And I love learning something new. I did not know about Cardinals being messengers and loved how it worked into the whole story.
I enjoyed this book ,anouther wonderful tale about Silver Springs and the amazing residents. Who doesn't like big burly vikings , curses and Loki, I can't wait to read more about Peppermint and her three Vikings.
I just finished this book and I´m so happy cause I loved it. And I don´t have the right words to express how much I loved it so I´ll make a list of all the things I liked:
- I love Peppermint, I love her whole personality and how she fights for what she wants and for what´s hers. - Two of my favorite gods are Hades and Loki and since they both are a big part of this book I really enjoyed it, I would love to read more books where this two appear. - Peppermint is determined to save her mates and she would do anything to be with them and I think they make a great group. - I love how in Kari, Peppermint mentions that she wants a viking for herself and she finally gets it, and not just one but three. - I like how this book has a little bit of action. - I love how the guys are with Pepper, I think they´re sweet and you can tell they´ll do anything to protect her and make her happy.
In conclusion, read this book cause it´s really good, it has romance, fun parts, action, it´s steamy and you just can´t stop reading.
I was left slightly disappointed by this story. It was actually a really good concept with a strong plot line, but I felt it wasn’t executed well. Peppermint is a cardinal shifter who works at the Silver Springs post office. On the side, she delivers letters to the underworld. One day, she finally opens a letter that kept coming back to her and finds out that it was a request for help from three Vikings imprisoned in the Underworld as punishment after stealing from Loki. As we know, finding mates is common in Silver Springs, Peppermint can’t let them rot in the Underworld and start her search to free them.
The story is good overall, but I felt like events happened and there wasn’t a clear explanation on why, and at times the text was too descriptive when it shouldn’t be and non descriptive enough when it should give more info.
I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
3.5 stars. After Kari, I was looking forward to this one. Compared to the rest of the series it felt like Silver springs was a pit stop. There was no variety in the three mates and it was very Norse heavy.
I liked the mail delivery to the dead. The mate bond was pretty quick and sudden. The story itself felt a little dragged out and more of a quest story.
I liked how Hades was and my favourite part was Loki and the summonings on the plane. I did like the variety of pop ups and it’s made me more curious about Gray. Vikings in modern times, Loki,Thor and Hel. The opening for Candela was a surprise.

This is a new author to me but seeing as she was in the Silver Springs universe, I had little doubt this book would be good. I was not disappointed for one second! From word one, I was hooked into Peppermint's story. I loved the unique take on her abilities and who doesn't love a good Viking story? I have a weak spot for anything involving the ancient gods too, so for me, this ticked all the boxes. This may just be my new favorite SS books. Well, until the next one makes me spit my tea with glee, laugh until I cry or wanna jump into the pages to steal a man.
I love this series and how unique each story is. This one brings you Vikings and a unique cardinal. Peppermint is a sweet young woman that works for the post office in Silver Springs. But she is also a cardinal shifter. One mysterious letter with the help of some magical skates will lead her on an adventure. This story also brings some Norse mythology with it. We also get to revisit some of the characters from the previous books and are introduced to a few new ones. Expect anything with Silver springs but definitely expect some hotness.
Another fun Silver Skates book - how can we be up to #10 already!?
Pepper is a cardinal shifter, who has popped up already in other books delivering mail. One trip to the ice rink later, she realises her mates are 3 big, burly vikings, who are trapped in the underworld. What follows is a fun caper, as she tries to figure out how to break the curse and get them out of there. I love how her personality rubs off on them, and vice versa, giving them all growth through the story.
I want more stories about how these guys settle into the modern world, now!
This book was amazing! First of all you have three deliciously handsome Norse men! Can’t go wrong there but the. You have Peppermint. She is working for a man who is a nightmare and while at work gets a letter that changes her life forever. I loved the banter between Peppermint and her guys. I have to say Roar had me laughing the hardest at times, but Birger came in a close second. I loved this book for the storyline. I have not read anything g quite like it before and it was new and exciting. Overall i thought his book was extremely well rounded. It has a fantastic storyline and plot, hot steamy men and the scenes to go with it, adventure, and a strong fmc. I would absolutely recommend this book!
I absolutely loved this story. It is one of my favorites. Peppermint is a cardinal shifter who delivers messages to the dead, and one day she gets a message that changes her life forever. This message is different from any she has ever delivered before and probably the most important because it is addressed to her. I love getting to know more about the guys and their stories about their friendship. This one will make you feel good.
This book was such fun to read! We meet Peppermint who is a cardinal shifter who delivers mail in Silver Springs and sometimes even to the afterlife. A strange letter keeps coming into her possession, always the same letter, addressed to a different person until one day it is her name on the envelope! This leads her to the underworld where she finds 3 very sexy vikings, (her mates! )trapped by a curse from Loki. It was really funny bringing vikings in to the present day and how they reacted to everything and all the changes in the last one thousand years and it is a book I would recommend to anyone that enjoys fated mates books
Peppermint decides to visit the local rink not knowing it was going to lead her to her mates. A mysterious letter keeps popping up and its finally addressed to her. Heading to hell to deliver a message she finally meets her mates. With the help of her friends whe has to figure out how to lift the curse put on them by none other than Loki himself. Lots of fun and demanding Gods in this book.

Sometimes fate truly is "Mint" to be. Peppermint is a cardinal shifter and shuffles between her postal job in Silver Springs and delivering messages to lost loved ones in the Netherworld. While her dream world involves hot Viking type heros, her real world is overrun with an obnoxious boss, an overbearing mom, and well meaning friends who want Peppermint to be just as happy as they are. But life never seems to be that easy for Peppermint. Throw in a few Gods, a stolen artifact, and panty dropping hunks, and she's willing to take a chance on happiness.
Ok for something a bit different this was a really good read - Pepper needs to rescue her mates from their 1000 year imprisonment by Loki - Really enjoyable ready with a bit of humour and some seriosly balmy moments which suits silver springs perfectly.
This is a great addition to the Silver Skates Series! I loved Peppermint! She is a clumsy, quirky, sweet, lovable Cardinal Shifter that must rescue her her sexy mates! I really enjoyed the story and all of the awesome characters. I cannot wait for more from this amazing Series!
Another fantastic addition to the series!! Don't believe just one click this book and find our for yourself you won't regret it. If your still hesitating its has three deliciously handsome Norse men!! You can't go wrong there right. With the add it adventure, intrigue, strong fmc, and of course steamy romance to keep you hooked from beginning to end making it a helluva read. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Peppermint is book 10 in the silver skates series. I just love Pepper and her guys!! I love the fact that there is an appearance of a famous Norse god! Oh and there is an airplane scene that is hilarious! This Peppermint is steamy and laugh out load funny. Definitely a must read!
What an interesting book to add to this series. We have Peppermint who works in the post office and she keeps seeing the same letter come back over and over. She knows that is weird but what can you do about it. She then takes up her friends advise to go skating, only she feels a tug to the underworld. In the underworld there are three vikings Skarde, Roar, and Birger trying to break a curse to get topside. Skarde feels that everything that has happened to him and his friends was because of him wanting more power. So why are they in the underworld? What can Peppermint do to rescue them? What a journey they will go on to break a curse? There are some bits that are funny but that helps them get through some tough situations. However, Peppermint will not give up to help her mates out. Can she plead their case? Such a great book to add to this series.
I loved reading peppermint especially all the vikings and gods. A certain scene on the airplane had me busting out laughing. And I always love when I get to see past characters. And of course all the steam which is never lacking. I can't wait to read the next book. Definitely recommend. Definitely five stars from me.
So much happening to keep those pages turning... the characters are great and belong perfectly in the shared world ... loved every single minute! Well done!
Peppermint is book number ten in the Silver Skate’s series. Peppermint is a messenger to the afterlife. She is also a Cardinal shifter. This story has handsome horsemen. Peppermint and her guys will have you laughing. Great storyline, as Peppermint’s mates become trapped in the underworld. Read the book to find out how it all ends. Five stars from me!
Peppermint is determined to save her three Viking mates from the underworld who are currently serving time as punishment form Loki. She will stop at nothing even cashing in favors from the gods. I really enjoyed the twist on bringing two pantheons together in the story. This was a great addition to the series that I could not put down.
OMG this is soooooo good! A cardinal shifter with hunky vikings stuck in the afterlife / underworld, what’s a girl to do? Well rescue them of course! It’s a quirky, intriguing and steamy read and I just love Peppermint she is so charming and kindhearted and full of wit. A fun read that will have you laughing out loud in places and is a great addition to the silver springs library!
This has to be one of my favourite book in the Silver Springs universe. It’s packed full of humour, adventure, and just the right amount of sadness/angst. I love the fact that Pepper’s mates are vikings and that she gets to help them break free of their torment. I love the addiction of Hades and Loki in it too. A super book.
Hot vikings!!! What else can I say about this?! This was an awesome book. It was funny and sexy! Pepper isn't you're ordinary cardinal! She can go to the underworld to deliver letters to the dead from their loved ones! She gets one from 3 Vikings that have been stuck because they ticked off Loki... you see where this is going? 🤣 great read!!! Love love love it! 💘 Awesome Cali Mann!! 😍
