FBI Special Agent Justine Gillespie is better at handling bombs than romantic relationships. She goes to Arizona to manage her mother’s affairs and get her settled into a nursing home.
A series of misunderstandings lead to her being arrested. Officer Brady Hall’s life changes when he pulls Justine over. She has explanations for everything, but they’re not very believable.

THAT PROVES IT—YOU ARE INSANE— FULL-SCALE WACKADOODLE
I enjoyed this suspenseful Christian based contemporary Lawkeepers story that has mystery, suspense, action, danger, angst, and clean romance. There is a great cast of characters along with personal emotions and a new relationship.
Special Agent Justine Gillespie and her K-9 German Shepherd, Lindy, are in Pennsylvania on a weeks vacation while she decides what is best for her mother with advanced dementia. As the oldest of three siblings, she lives in Virginia, but it seems the responsibility is falling on her shoulders. Emotions are a factor that leads to running a red light, getting pulled over by Pennsylvania State Trooper Brady Hall, and taken into custody.
The story takes on life and death danger with multiple bomb threats that Justine and Lindy will be called to work while she is in town, and PSP Brady Hall will be at each location in a support role. During the remainder of her stay in town Justine and Brady getting to know each other, and an instant connection between them. But what will come of them being states apart?
“The woman couldn’t be more perfect. God would find a way to work this out. If she were the woman for him, God would make a way. “
Also called to Pennsylvania, will be Special Agent Marc Jackson, partner of Justine. For a short time, Justine and her bomb squad partner, Marc, had secretly dated but they had different goals and called their relationship off. While she is ready to move on, Marc acts and talks as if they are still an item.
Brady has been waiting for the perfect Christian woman to come into his life and is willing to move and change jobs if that is what it takes. Can he get Justine to consider giving them a chance? Will God open the door for them?
“I’ll be waiting for Him to make it work because He brought us together for a purpose greater than bomb disposal. I know what I want, and I intend to get it. Don’t let fear ruin this thing. Promise me that you’ll pray about it.”
I love how both Brady and Justine talk things through, and both of them want a Christian partner, and yet they want someone that will respect their chosen occupation too. When they allow God to lead in their lives, He moves obstacles so that things work out, because they both trusted and asked God to guide them.
What a fun book this was to read! It was the first book I've read by this author but it wont be the last! I enjoy books that have K-9s in them and this one was especially good. Two characters in law enforcement but different "branches" meet in an unlikely way! Trooper Brady Hall pulls Special Agent Justine Greco over for running a red light! She's not too happy about it but she's had a tough day as she's dealing with a mother with Alzheimer's. Come to find out, she left her purse with her ID at the nursing home AND when Trooper Hall calls her mother's house, he's told Justine doesn't have permission to drive her mother's car so he hauls her into the station! It's all a big misunderstanding! But, then, there's a big all-alert bomb threat at a power plant and Justine is called upon to coordinate, so things get serious fast! The rest of the book is delightful as these two characters, along with a great cast of secondary characters, deal with bomb threats and a mom with Alzheimer's and jobs and living in different cities and of course, their K-9s, etc. I highly recommend this book! Can't wait for the next book from this author!
Lawfully Held is a fast-paced romance between 2 law enforcement officials. The way that they meet is hilarious. I appreciated the fact that as Christians, they both needed to know that the other was a believer as well. The case that they're working keeps bringing them together, and Justine was in the area to arrange care for her mom who has dementia. There's a obstacle to overcome before they can be together; but don't worry, you get that HEA.
I loved this book! First book I’ve read by Elle Kay but not the last! I loved the characters including the dogs Lindy and Blitz. This book kept a smile on my face the entire time I read, there were also action scenes that made me hold my breath. This book was very well written, making all who read it feel good and wanting to read more of Elle Kay’s books!
I was given a free copy. No review was requested, all opinions are my own.
Great read! Who doesn't like a law officer/FBI agent romance and add a couple K-9's to it and it's perfect! When you know it's the right one, it's the right one! Happened to me and so I won't refute it! :) Want a quick satisfying read that keeps your attention with just enough suspense and romance to keep you scrolling those pages! I was gifted a copy of this book by the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I thought this was a great fast paced story taking place in a rural area where things are generally peaceful, until bomb threats start happening and put Trooper Brady with FBI agent Justine. They start falling for each other but she lives in Virginia and he lives in Pennsylvania. But God can make amazing things happen. I received a complimentary copy and I am giving a review voluntarily.
Action packed! This is a tale of an FBI bomb squad member and a small town trooper. Elle is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this sweet contemporary romance with a strong Christian influence! Well done!
This book is interesting, intriguing, action packed, a page turner, romantic and has animals in it. Loved this book. It was so good I hated to put book down. I recommend this book and will read again.
I purchased a copy of this book from the author’s store. While FBI special agent Justine Gillespie is visiting her mother in order to help put her in a nursing home for her dementia, she meets state trooper Brady Hall who assists her with a bomb scare at a local energy plant and several other places. They are attracted to each other. The problem is she lives in Virginia and he lives in Arizona. The book features faith, courage and strength in both the main characters.
I first read part of the Lawkeeper series in a different book
refreshing is not only the dedication to their faith, but the importance of career and family for yhe male and female primary characters- as well as the occasional changes of heart with some of the secondary characters
refreshing action and adventure and faith filled romances
Brady & Justine are both in law enforcement. Their first meeting finds Brady arresting Justine because she's in a car she doesn't own. That gets quickly resolved & they work together on a case together. Soon they are in love. I found the ending came too quickly & don't think the case was truly resolved. Who was planting bombs?
Books that include law enforcement hold a dear place in my heart and this one is no exception. I loved the dogs, the characters, and the back-to-back action. There was absolutely no time to be bored with this book.
I'm really enjoying this series and all the characters. I loved Brady and Justine's story. These two have an instant connection with much to overcome. I enjoyed watching how God worked everything out in their lives.
Great story This one had danger, suspense, romance and even a bit of silliness mixed with a faith message. The characters were likable and the situations...while unlikely, still seemed believable.
What did we do before a Kindle Unlimited? His series so far is a lot of fun. I’ve been enjoying the short but fun series. This story, of a K9 police officer and an FBI special agent and her own dog, is well written and engaging right from the get go. Justine is dealing with her mother’s decline into dementia when she meets Brady. The two immediately are thrown into a series of bombers threats and danger, but also manage to find some down time in which they connect rather quickly. I’m not usually one for insta-love, but this didn’t really feel like that. It all developed at a nice pace and was an enjoyable mid-morning summer read.
This is a fun contemporary novel, I would put it along side a Harlequin Romance Suspense Novel. I enjoyed the interaction between the two characters, but I have a hard time with the initial traffic stop. It was way over the top and really unnecessary to the story. The dogs added some charm to the story and made for a side about what happens to law enforcement dogs. I think the cover needs to be redone. The guy on the cover has something wrong with his pencil thin neck and weird shaped head.
Great romance bringing two law enforcement officers together. This story tells the journey that brings a the two together, one is working for FBI in VA and the other the local PD in Arizona. Life events bring them together and instantly there is something between them. No one would consider it love at first sight under the circumstances but love grows in all sorts of places. A quick read that deals with the stages of life and has a happily ever after ending.
I really enjoyed this book from the first page onwards. Elle E Kay has been so creative with this plot. I was very impressed by the various twists and turns and really didn’t see until the very end how she was going to pull it all together.
I’d recommend this book to anyone enjoying a sweet romance with a twisty-turny plot that keeps you on your toes and guessing.
When Brady and Justine meets each other he thinks she’s insane but he changes his opinion right away. He just wants to make her laugh. And soon he just wants to marry her. But does she feel the same, and can their relationship stand the distance? This was a fun Christian story. And that note from her mother was sooo sweet. Really enjoyed reading this book.
Explosive! For a simple, Christian Romance, the well-written action comes charging out the gate and keeps you interested on a number of fronts. First, of course, there are working dogs who will charm you; then the likeable characters will have you rooting for them; and next there is the crime--in fact a series of crimes which keep everyone on toepoint. Delightful!
I love this series. Sweet clean romance. Justine an FBI agent was home from Virginia to help her mother, getting pulled over by local police wasn't in the plans. Brady takes the women in to the station after she claims to be FBI, then soon after he's eating crow. But she just might be the women he's been waiting for.
What an amazingly sweet book – I loved their story and adored the personality that Elle gives her characters! I found myself grinning more than once and tearing up. A must read.
I received this book as a gift and have choose to leave a review. It was a quick romantic read that wasn't all lovey dovey. There was some action and suspense. Definitely interested in checking out more in the series although good as a standalone book.
When you dream of a love story between two people this is what I dreamed of. To me this is the perfect union of two people united with God as their foundation. Not to mention a couple of good dogs.
The story is interesting and exciting at times. A comfortable read. Not too intense. Brings in the importance of Christ in a relationship if it is to work for ever.
