Great citations, this is a summary and condensement of other works into a cohesive thought type book. Good history of evangelization included. This book highlights the importance of family, commitment, and friendship. The content is true, but it provides a very particular structure to how this can be cultivated in young people. I would add that this structure may not work for everyone and will not work if forced. I have found many of the gems this book teaches in community and strong friendships but I found it all outside of the structure of a group like SPO.

“There can be no shortcuts. We need to be wise builders. Our task requires fundamental and comprehensive solutions.” pg. 82

This book does the work of exploring and laying out the beginnings of these ‘fundamental and comprehensive solutions’ which, refreshingly, goes beyond simply adding more programs and events to your faith life.
